James R. Hupman (January 28, 1918 - May 27, 2009)

James ‘Jim’ R. Hupman, 91, of Greenville passed away at Heartland on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 after suffering from a stroke almost 9 years ago.

He was born in Greenville on January 28, 1918, son of the late Samuel Moses ‘Mose’ and Artie Belle Hupman and had lived in the local area all of his life. Jim was an airplane mechanic in WWII for the army and from that experience learned to fix about anything that broke on the farm. Jim and his wife Rosalie moved back to his homestead in 1961 while raising their four children. Jim was an avid farmer raising over 100 head of Polled Herford cattle. He also had an egg business delivering fresh eggs all over the Miami Valley for 45 years. In 1994, Jim and Rosalie were honored by the state of Ohio for their century family-owned farm. Jim was a hard worker and loved his family. Before his stroke, Jim loved visiting with his friends up at McDonalds.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Rosalie (Bower) Hupman whom he married on August 21, 1945; four children, Rita and husband Gary McCans of Greenville, John and wife Kathy Hupman of Greenville, Mary Morgan of Vandalia, and Ruth and husband Michael Stoots of Cincinnati; 6 grandchildren, David and Jennie McCans, Kristin (McCans) and Eric Fee, Jessica (Stoots) and Rob Reuthe, Jason Hupman, Jeremy Hupman, and Joseph Stoots; and 6 great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be Saturday, May 30th from 2-4 PM at Oliver Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Fee being asked to officiate. A celebration of life funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 4:00 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.storchbraundfuneralhome.com.
