Richard "Dick" D. Long (April 22, 1930 - June 7, 2009)

Richard D. "Dick" Long, 79, of Arcanum, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Alterra Sterling House, Greenville. Mr. Long was born in Pitsburg, Ohio on April 22, 1930, the son of the late Dwight M. and Edith (Kraus) Long. Dick was the owner of the former Long Furniture, Pitsburg and a broker/owner of Dick Long Realty, Arcanum retiring in 1995. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. A 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, and the Antioch Shrine Club. Dick was a former member of the Dayton Area and Darke County Board of Realtors and a former member of the Pitsburg Lions Club. He is survived by his wife Nila Jane (Blumenstock) Long whom he married May 5, 1951; 2 daughters Nancy Shiffler and husband Bob of Dayton and Lisa Bixler and husband Brad of Arcanum; 4 Sons Scott Long and wife Susie of Arizona, Doug Long of Pitsburg, Curt Long and wife Diane of Arcanum, and David Long of Brookville; Grandchildren Amanda Paduchik and husband Robert, Holly Cotner and husband Craig, Marcus Bixler, Gavin Bixler, Daniel Long, Zack Long, Elizabeth Long, Josh Long, Brooke Long, Michael Long, Mallory Long, and Aaren Shiffler; Great Grandchildren Elaina Paduchik, Larissa Paduchik, Max Cotner, and Jack Cotner; 2 sisters Jo Ann Coleman and Peggy Corder both of Arizona; brother Donald Long and wife Ann Marie of Arizona; Step Mother Lois Kimmel Long of Englewood. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum with Rev Paul Chastain officiating. Burial will follow in Mote Cemetery Pitsburg. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday 5 - 8 PM at the funeral home.
