Reuben L. Hecht (January 19, 1925 - September 1, 2009)

Reuben L. Hecht age 84 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Reuben was born January 19, 1925 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Louie and Anna (Althoff) Hecht.

Reuben was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Willowdell. Reuben served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Philippines and Japan. He was a member of the Osgood American Legion Post #588. Reuben was a farmer, school bus driver, worked at Monarch for 5 years and retired from Crown after 20 years of employment. Reuben was a loving husband; father; grandfather and great grandfather. He loved traveling and living in the woods on the farm where he was born.

Reuben is survived by his wife, Mary of 61 years; daughter, Connie (Michael) Tomcik of Alamo, California; sons, Jerry (Mary Jo) Hecht of Versailles, Michael (Karen) Hecht of Celina and Phil (Mai) Hecht of Alpharetta, Georgia; grandchildren, Kendra and Devin Tomcik, Chris (Kim) Hecht, Nicci (Kurt) Keiser, Nathan (Kelli) Hecht, Michelle Rodriguez, Ryan (Andrea) Hecht, Suzy (Josh) Schilling and Kathy Hecht; and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 9464 Foote Rd. (Willowdell) Yorkshire, with Pastor Laura L. Shreffler officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Willowdell. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the church. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Osgood American Legion Post #588. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Willowdell.
