Mrs. Opal Grace Behrens, age 95 of Greenville, Ohio has gone home to be with her Lord at 12:15 P.M. Monday January 25, 2010 at the Rest Haven Nursing Home of Greenville. Opal was born October 9, 1914 in New Weston, Ohio and the daughter of the late Samuel & Louisa Alvessa (Alter) Hendrickson.
She was an antique dealer and a 1933 graduate of the Greenville High School. Opal was a member of the St. Paul Episcopal Church of Greenville and served as a Lay Reader of the Church. She was also well known for wearing hats for all occasions.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands—George J. Menger, Pat Ireland and Art Behrens. Also by her son Keith Menger, grandson Jeff Menger and brother Harold Alter Hendrickson.
Opal is survived by a son and daughters in law—Kenneth G. & Sylvia Menger of Tennessee and Joyce Menger of Greenville. Also grandchildren—Tim Menger, Jamie Menger, Mindy (Mike) Basford, Jon G. (Svetlana) Menger and Tod C. (Tania) Menger. Great grandchildren—Jessica Menger and Christopher Menger. Nieces—Patty (John) Watts of California and Mary Louise (Dr. C. William) Johnston of Greenville, as well as other Great Nephews and Nieces, particularly Dr. Kristene (Scott) Clark of Gettysburg, Ohio
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday January 28, 2010 at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with the Rev. Lowell Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12 Noon until time of services in the Funeral Home.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions may be given to the Darke County Animal Shelter.
