Herman LeRoy Neff (June 2, 2010)

Herman LeRoy Neff was born on April 17, 1925 in Darke County, Ohio, to Charles and Margaret (Brosey) Neff. On May 19, 1940, he publicly professed faith in his Lord and savior and was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, to which he remained faithful. He peacefully departed from this life on June 2, 2010, at 7:28 PM to be with the Lord at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 16 days.

Herman met Luella (Bettie) Boze and was united in marriage on June 30, 1945, and enjoyed nearly 65 years of marriage. They began their marriage in Darke County, Ohio, where he was engaged in farming. In February 1977 they moved to Mt. Olive, Mississippi, where he was engaged in upholstering and raising blueberries. His health began to fail, so in April of 2007 they moved back to the Darke County area, where they resided in Greenville, Ohio. They renewed many friendships and made new acquaintances which dad enjoyed immensely. He enjoyed helping people as much as possible with his limited abilities.

Herman’s health again began to fail in April of 2010. He believed in and called for the annointing, from which he received comfort and healing. Bettie tenderly cared for him at home until he was admitted to Greenville hospital where he departed this life.

Surviving is his loving wife, Bettie; three daughters, Cynthia (John) Culp of Halsey, Oregon, Margaret (Verl) Brubaker of Tuolumne, California and Carol (Richard) Milyard of Brookville, Ohio; 8 grandchildren, Crystal and Shobhana Culp, Eric (Laura) Brubaker and Emily (Brian) Root, Nathan, Jason, Laban (Mary) Milyard and Camela (Gary) Bailey; 4 great grandchildren, Brianna and Nicole Brubaker, Brendan and Jadrian Root; brother, Harold Neff of Union City, Indiana; and a sister, Ruby L. Lee of Sandpoint, Idaho; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Esther (Rein) Spille and Evelyn (Clifford) Nasby.

Though we feel a great loss, our loss is his gain, eternal life in heaven, where our heavenly Father has prepared a place for his redeemed children.

There will be a service held on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Oak Grove Old German Baptist Church on Martin Rd. with the Home Brethren officiating.
