HARPER, Jennifer M. 41, of Palm Harbor, died Feb. 23rd. Survived by parents, Sam & Sandra; children, Allison, Macy & Jack. Gathering Tuesday, March 1 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm followed by memorial service at 1:30 pm at Curlew Hills FH. Ralph E. Locke (February 26, 2011)

Ralph E. Locke, 80, of Greenville, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 26, 2011 at Heartland of Greenville.
He was born August 30, 1930 in Delisle, OH, son of the late Chalmer and Nellie (West) Locke. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Valerie S. Waldon on December 28, 2009, and a brother, Travis Locke.
Ralph was retired from Westinghouse/A.O.Smith in Union City.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Velma (Baxter) Locke whom he married February 17, 1957; daughters, Kathy (Bob) Brandon of Greenville, and Joy Burke of Indiana; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Whitney, Branson, Ricci, Jimini, Rielea, Alex, Jessica Locke, Chelsea Gallatin, and Amy Marshall Lopez; great grandchildren, Kaysy and Layla Mangen , Veronica, Jacob, Marisol, Emily, and Efrin Lopez; and his "best friend" of 17 years, his dog, BeBee.
Services will be held at , Wednesday, March 2 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

Donald F. Brumbaugh (February 25, 202112)

Donald F. "Don" Brumbaugh, 76, of Greenville, passed away Friday afternoon, February 25, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.

He was born April 21, 1934 in Darke County, son of the late Orville and Etoile Marie (Brandt) Brumbaugh. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Gary, Bob and John Brumbaugh; and a sister, Phyllis Black.

Don was retired from Fram/Allied Signal in Greenville and had worked as the head of maintenance of the Ansonia First Church of God. He was a member of the Greenville Missionary Church. An avid bowler and golfer, Don will be most remembered for his music as leader and saxophonist of the Don Brumbaugh Orchestra.

He is survived by his wife, Arb (Christian) Brumbaugh; daughters, Taunya (Tom) Buxton of Versailles, Sherry (Doug) Warvel of Greenville, and Mindy (Tim) Walters of Ansonia; grandchildren, Traci (Jesse) Dobbelaere, Laci (Octavio) Cedena, Mandy (Ryan) Addison, Kyle Warvel, Lana (Alan) Wombolt and Reese Walters; great grandchildren, Ava and Gabriel Addison, Wesley Dobbelaere, and Grady Warvel; a sister, Carolyn Brumbaugh of Ansonia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday March 2, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Cancer Association of Darke County.

Joe F. Bowers (February 25, 2011)

Joe F. Bowers, 78, of Greenville passed away on February 25, 2011 at Rest Haven Nursing Home. Joe was born on January 1, 1933 to the late Lawrence and Melissa “Lissie” (Charles) Bowers.

Joe was a factory worker for Witt Plastics and Transel Wrap. He enjoyed fishing and riding his bike. Joe's greatest joy was his grandchildren and would always have suckers for them in his pockets. He was also known for teasing people. In his younger years, Joe like to work the garden with his father, Lawrence.

He is survived by his wife, Delorse Bowers; a son, Jody (Jennifer) Bowers of New Paris; a daughter, Crystal Winthrow of Richmond; two brothers, Marvin (Doris) Bowers of Greenville and Donald (Mary) Bowers of Greenville; two sisters, Jean (Gene) Knox of New Paris and Ruth (Von) Spitzer of Versailles; eight grandchildren and numerious nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Bowers and Robert Bowers; three sisters, Doris Longenacker, Judy Klopfer and Edith Bowers.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 2 – 5 PM at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. A Celebration of Life service will be on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home with the Rev. Rick Gutheil being asked to officiate. Burial will follow in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris.

Marvin Joe Dankworth (February 23, 2011)

Marvin Joe Dankworth, age 74, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 5:45 PM at his residence. He was born on April 19, 1936 in Troy, Ohio, to the late John Robert & Elizabeth (Zicht) Dankworth.
Joe retired from Piqua Engineering where he worked in the maintenance department. He was a member of the United States Navy and Stelvideo Christian Church where he taught Sunday school. Every year Joe was very involved in helping organize the Memorial Service at Stelvideo Cemetery.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, John & Ed Dankworth; and 2 infant sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean (Rosell) Schultz Dankworth of Greenville, whom he married on January 7, 2000; children and spouses, Sheryl & David Fine of Arcanum, Tony & Becky Schultz of Greenville, and Tonya & Virgil Klosterman of Greenville; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister and brother in law, Marlene & Larry Maddux of Richmond, Indiana; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a service held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Vernon Rodeffer officiating. Burial will follow in the Harris Creek Cemetery, Bradford, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.

Bob T. Harshman (February 20, 2011)

Bob T. Harshman, 83, of Union City, OH passed away Sunday evening, February 20, 2011 at Union City Care Center of Union City OH. He was born March 6, 1927 in Union City, OH the son of Omar Thelbert and Helen Gladden (Haley) Harshman. He attended Union City Eastside and Wayne High School. He honorably served during WW II in the Army Air Force, later called the United States Air Force.

After returning from overseas, he married, Mary Belle Griffith. Together they had three sons, Robert (Rusty), Timothy and Michael. After 52 years of marriage, Mary Belle died in the year of 2000.

Bob retired from Union City Body Company as a supervisor in the metal room. Over the years he was involved in many community projects and services, including serving on the board of the Chamber of Commerce, the Community Improvement Council and as a volunteer Medical Technician with the Union City, OH Fire Department.

He was a member of the Union City American Legion Post 158; BPO Elks Lodge #1534 of Union City, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2790 of Union City; La Societe des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux (40&8); Knights of Columbus Council #983; Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Father John Bouvier Assembly of Tipton, IN; the Air Force Association; Bi State Wood Carvers; and Brukner Nature Carvers of Troy, OH. He was also a person that was interested in the environment. He was active with the Sierra Club, Audubon Society and the National Wildlife Federation.

He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Robert (Rusty) Harshman (wife, Patricia), Tim Harshman (wife, Tracy) and Mike Harshman (wife, Brenda); a brother, Richard “Pappy” Harshman of Union City; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Friday, February 25, 2011 at St. Mary’s Church of Union City, IN. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery of Union City, IN. Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 5 - 8 pm Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Fraze-Brooks Memorial Chapel of Union City, IN. Edna L. Schlosser (February 20, 2011)

Edna L (Carothers) Schlosser, 98, of Greenville and formerly of New Madison, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2011 at the Brethren Retirement Community. Edna was born in Darke County, Ohio on November 10, 1912 to the late Abijah & Clara (Norris) Carothers.

Edna was a 1931 graduate of New Madison High School. She was a homemaker and worked at Brook’s and Heistand’s Laundry in Greenville for several years. Edna was a member of the New Madison United Methodist Church and was a 50+ year member of the Eastern Star. Some of the joys in Edna's life were quilting, crafts, traveling with her husband, collecting cow cream pitchers and making metal butterflies with her husband.

In addition to her parents, Edna is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Kenneth Schlosser who passed away in 2006; a daughter, Joan Scantland; a daughter-in-law, Judy Schlosser; three brothers, Max, Robert and Walter Carothers; and a sister, Marjorie Harris.

Edna is survived by a son, Fred Schlosser of Greenville; two brothers, Joe (Dorothy) Carothers of Newburgh, Indiana and Harold (Sondra) Carothers of Greenville; a sister, Alice Carothers of Naples, Florida; five grandchildren, Scott Schlosser of Westerville, Ohio, Kelly (Barry) Hounshell of Greenville, Ohio, Cindy (Rick) Nealeigh of Laura, Ohio, Mindy Whittington of Readyville, Tennessee and Nathan Wehrly of Taos, New Mexico; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 4 – 7 PM, at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. An Eastern Star service will be held on Friday, February 25th at 6:30 PM. A Celebration of Life service with be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 10:00 AM also at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Hayes being asked to officiate. Ralph R. Clark (February 20, 2011)

Ralph Richard Clark, 83, of Crooksville, Ohio formerly of Arcanum passed away Sunday, February 20th, 2011 in Crooksville after an extended illness. Ralph and his wife, Virginia (Bennett) Clark, lived in Arcanum for the past 45 years before moving in April 2010 to Crooksville. Mr. Clark was born in Lucasville, Ohio on July 6, 1927, the son of the late Chessman and Minnie (Smith) Clark. After retiring from the Moormans Feed Company, Ralph worked the last ten years at the Arcanum Hardware Store. He was a past member of the Lions Club, Arcanum City Council, and an avid bowler at the Arcanum Lanes. Ralph was a Marine Veteran of WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Alice Clark Klinger, Brother Hobart Clark and 2 infant brothers. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia (Bennett) Clark; two daughters, Shirley Clark and Connie (Paul) Montgomery both of Crooksville; two sons Bill (Ginny) Bennett of Statesboro, Georgia and Richard (Linda) Clark of Arcanum; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum. Burial will follow in Ithaca Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2 hours before the time of services at the funeral home.

Janice E. Donnelly (February 19, 2011)

Mrs. Janice E. Donnelly, age 64 of Versailles, Ohio passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 4:08 AM at Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. She was born January 2, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Eldon & Lucille (Monce) Recher. She was a Speech and Hearing Therapist for Versailles Schools.
Momma D. was influential in the lives of the youth in the community through directing plays and musicals, Devotion in Motion, teaching Sunday School, and as a Girl Scout Leader. She was active in the Versailles Christian Church, Towne & Country Players, Versailles Garden Club, Darke County Emmaus, and Solid Rock Church Camp.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Donnelly of Versailles, whom she married June 27, 1970; children and spouses: Karen and Charles Moeller of Kettlersville, Ohio; Ben Donnelly and fiancée Rachel Gorshe of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Jill and Brant Stagg of Cincinnati; grandchildren: Nathan Moeller, Natalie Moeller, Julie Moeller, Justin Moeller, and Eli Stagg; brother and sister-in-law: Joseph and Rebecca Recher of Dayton, Ohio; sister & brother-in-law: Susan and Charles Smith of Omaha, Nebraska.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Versailles Christian Church, 105 West Ward Street, Versailles, Ohio, with Pastor Dennis Wheeler and Rev. Jeanette was also preceded in death by three Sisters Bonnie Shelley, Mildred Banta, and Dorothy Pearce and a Brother Roy Goins. Mrs. Harshbarger was born in Darke County on January 15, 1919, the daughter of the late Clarence and Zelma (Miller) Shelley. She was a Homemaker and a Mother. Glenna was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. Harshbarger, who died April 12, 2005, son Richard E. Harshbarger, and a grandson Craig Harshbarger. She is survived by two sons Robert L. Frank J. Hubler (February 16, 2011)

Frank J. Hubler, 84, of New Madison passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the VA Center in Dayton. Frank was born in New Paris, Ohio on March 15, 1926 to the late Ralph and Maude M. ( McKinney) Hubler
Frank graduated from New Madison Schools. Frank served honorably in the Army from March 14, 1944 – April 16, 1947. Frank later went on to receive vocational training. He later went on to become a self employed contractor. He was a member of the American Legion LaRoy Farst Post 245 and served as the Past Commander from 1994-1997 and again from 2006-2008. Frank was very active in service to his community by being a Boy Scout Troop Leader in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, President of the Little League Association in New Madison, donating his time and vocation to the New Fire Department and Ernest Drew Memorial Park, He was instrumental in the Village’s sanitation system. Frank enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, and camping. Frank was a perfectionist and had a passion for work.
In addition to his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Royer) Hubler in 2005; three brothers, Merle, Don and Bobby Hubler; and two sisters, Evelyn Fry and Dorothy Ray.
Frank is survived by two sons, Steve and Sherry Hubler of Cedarville, Ohio and Dean and Becky Hubler of New Paris, Ohio; and a daughter, Linda and Jack Plank of Port Charlotte, Florida; a brother, Jim Hubler of White Bluff, Tennessee; five sisters, Colleen Brickler of Greenville, Ohio, Helen Plank of Indianapolis, Indiana, Joan Parks of Illinois, Carol Brown of White Hall, Arizona, and Norma Gittinger of Cromwell, Indiana; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and special friends, Bert Blair and best buddy Chaz Godsey.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 2-6 PM at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. A Celebration of Life service will be on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM also at the funeral home with Rev. Joe Hanna being asked to officiate. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery. Melesa L. Westfall (February 17, 2011)

Melesa L. Westfall, 47, of Greenville, passed away Thursday morning, February 17, 2011 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
She was born on October 13, 1963 in Greenville, daughter of Marjorie (Sharp) Strait of Greenville and the late Harold E. “Gene” Strait.
Melesa had worked at the former New Idea in Coldwater and most recently was employed by Workhorse.
In addition to her mother she is survived by her children, Justin (fiancée’ Whitney) Westfall, and Jennifer Westfall both of Greenville; sisters, Teresa (Mike) Batten of Ansonia, Brenda Strait of Greenville, and Carla (Danny) Helm of Greenville; a brother, Galvin Strait of Greenville; and nieces and nephews, Joe and Alyssa Batten, Amanda McGlinch, Sara and Garrett Strait.
Services will be held Monday, February 21, at 10 a.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Jon Keller officiating. Burial will follow in the Shook’s Chapel Cemetery near Rossburg.

Jose “Joe” Capetillo (February 16, 2011)

Jose “Joe” Capetillo, 61, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday morning, February 16, 2011 at the Vitas Hospice in Dayton.
 He was born on August 20, 1949 in Uvalde, TX, son of Julia (Fuentes) Avilas of Uvalde, TX and the late Mateo Capetillo.
 Joe had worked for several years in the maintenance department at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. He had attended the First Assembly Church of God in Greenville.
 He is survived by his wife, Shelly A. (Miller) Capetillo, whom he married April 21, 2001; sons, Joseph Capetillo of Berne, IN, and Jason Capetillo of Decatur, IN; grandchildren, Kyler, Kegan, Haley, and Caleb; four brothers and four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 Services will be held Tuesday, February 22, at at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Dale Boerger officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens near Greenville.

Evelyn Irene Fowble (February 12, 2011)

Evelyn Irene Fowble, age 87 and a life-long resident of Darke County passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at her home in Greenville, Ohio. Evelyn was born April 26, 1923.
She was preceded in death by husband of 65 years, Robert L. Fowble; son Robert L. Fowble Jr.; Brother Robert H. Floeck; and parents Robert “Bus” H. Floeck Sr. and C. Beatrice “Babe” (Baker) Floeck.
Bob and Evelyn were avid golfers and longtime members of the Greenville Country Club. Evelyn learned to fly at the age of 68 and flew locally and in Alaska. She was the very proud grandmother of Chelsea and Nichole Simmons.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, JoAnne Fowble Simmons, son-in-law, Kenneth Guy Simmons, and granddaughters Chelsea Rae and Ashlea Nichole Simmons also of Greenville; sister-in-law Grace Catherine Fowble Barnes of Somerset, Ohio; nieces Susan Fowble Josenhans of Richmond, Virginia; Rebecca Jeanne Smith of Monroe, Ohio; Deborah Barnes Ball of Evansville, Indiana; and Renee Barnes Starkey of Somerset, Ohio. Nephews Stanley Webster Smith of Middletown, Ohio; Gary C. Barnes of St. Petersburg, Florida; Rodney Dale Barnes of Newark, Ohio; Richard Lee Barnes of Hickory, North Carolina; Brian Jeffrey Barnes of Somerset, Ohio and devoted friends and caregivers, Shirley and Gale Turner, Amanda Lund, Mary York and Cindy McCallister.

Dale E. Hart (February 14, 2011)

Dale E. Hart, 57, of Ithaca, died Monday, February 14, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton. Mr. Hart was born in Troy on August 7, 1953, the son of the late David and Patsy (Cummings) Hart. He was a heavy equipment operator at Barrett Paving Materials. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and a Brother Tom Hart. Frederic L. Hoblit age 81 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 6:36 P.M. on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville. Frederic was born March 25, 1929 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Glen Roy & Gertrude (Townsend) Hoblit Sr.
Frederic was a retired painter. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, Frederic is also preceded in death by his brothers, William “Bill” Hoblit, Glen Roy Hoblit Jr., Donald Hoblit Sr., and James Otto Hoblit; and sister, Patty Hoblit.
Frederic is survived by a daughter & son-in-law, Virginia “Ginny” & Harold Eckman of Greenville; brother, John Hoblit of Michigan; sisters, Mary Ann Prager of Greenville, Florence Magoto of Greenville and Nancy Auer of Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Karen Sue Utz age 57 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 6:16 A.M. on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Karen was born October 20, 1953 in Coldwater, Ohio, to the late Chalmer & Norma Mae (Schaadt) Utz.
In addition to her parents, Karen is also preceded in death by a nephew, Kenneth Michael Utz.

Lloyd E. Dietrich, 82, of Arcanum, died Sunday, February 13, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Dietrich was born in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio on June 29, 1928, the son of the late Otto and Grace E. (Longenecker) Dietrich. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Ithaca and a member of the Darke County Farmers Union. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by Sister Ruth Gad, and two Brothers Carl and Glen Dietrich. Lloyd is survived by his wife Betty (Schaar) Dietrich, whom he married October 23, 1954; 3 Daughters Kathy Barton and husband Mark of Greenville, Vicki Dietrich of Arcanum, and Kim Kile and husband Charles of Pickerington, Ohio; Grandchildren Levi Barton, Lloyd, Ryan, and Afton Kile. Roger W. Beam (February 12, 2011)

Roger W. Beam, 57, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, OH.

He was born October 5, 1953 in Greenville, son of the late William Stanley and Hazel Irene (Lavy) Beam. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Shotz; and brothers, Charlie D. Beam, Junior Beam and Don “Bouncer” Beam.

Roger had played guitar with Coyote Moon (formerly Country Express) Band. He had delivered the Daily Advocate for several years and was an avid car trader and enthusiast. He was a graduate of Ansonia High School Class of 1972.

He is survived by his wife, Krista I. (Haber) Beam; children, Misty Boldman of Philadelphia, PA, Ron (John-Anna) Beam of Ansonia, Mendy (Brian Fries) Helton of Union City, OH, and Cheyann Beam of Greenville; grandchildren, Sharee Beam, Tevin Thomas, Tyler Boldman, Shania Boldman, Sierra Beam, Trey, Troy, and Trent Billa, Christopher Gordon, Nona Hofacker, Alex, Andrew, and Bree-Anna Beam, Chase, Amber, and Brice Helton, and Donovan Fries; brothers, Dale (Cindy) Beam, Howie (Debbie) Beam, Ralph (Jonnie) Beam, and Dan (Peg) Beam; and sisters, Freda (Hubert) Rier and Delores (David) Partin-Cleveland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

J. Pauline Eikenberry age 92 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 10:08 P.M. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Pauline was born February 27, 1918 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Jesse & Elizabeth (Baughman) Loxley.
Pauline formerly worked as a clerk for the Civil Service Board and claims clerk for Social Security in Dayton. Pauline was a member at Greenville Church of the Brethren; Greenville Grandmothers Club; Business and Professional Women; and Gettysburg Eastern Star. Pauline loved fishing in Canada, attending local auctions and was an avid pet lover of all kinds.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Harold Henderson; 2nd husband, Myron Eikenberry; step son, Nils Eikenberry; brothers, Carl, Galen, Noel and Orville Loxley; and sisters, Agnes Bevington and Thelma Carroll.

She was precinct chairman of Hollansburg west and first lady of Hollansburg for 21 years. Nancy enjoyed playing dominoes, collecting dolls, making crafts and traveling with her husband. Charles "Chuck" Arthur Heindl (February 8, 2011)

Charles “Chuck” A. Heindl, 45, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Chuck was born in Greenville, Ohio on March 5, 1965 to Evelyn (Magoteaux) Heindl and the late Cork Heindl. Chuck is a 1983 graduate of Franklin Monroe High School and worked at Stan Ray and Sons in Greenville, as a mechanic. He owned and operated Chuck’s Auto Service in Greenville for 11 years. He was a member of EUM church where he loved and enjoyed serving in Adventure World (EUM children’s ministry) for over 6 years. He was also a camp counselor at EUM’s Camp Wild for children in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Chuck also was a youth leader at Liquid Fusion Youth Group. He enjoyed Drag Racing, Circle track racing and fishing. Chuck was a very artistic person with a great personality. He was involved in the Emmaus Gatherings of Darke County. Chuck was also known for his great Elvis impersonation. His greatest passion was his love for his children where they knew him as a Devoted Band Dad. In addition to his mother, Chuck is survived by his wife, Barb (Dunn) Heindl; three sons, Zach, Alex and Andy Heindl all of Greenville; a daughter, Sarah Heindl also of Greenville; three brothers, Patrick (Twyla) Heindl of San Antonio, TX, Tim (Kelly) Heindl of Bon, New Hampshire and Chip Heindl of Pitsburg; a sister, Theresa (Eric) Hess of Wayne Lakes, Ohio; God Parents, John Magoteaux and Jane Drzyzga. Homer E. Brewer (February 5, 2011)

Homer E. Brewer, age 74, of Greenville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2011 after fighting a courageous battle of COPD Pulmonary Disease.


Homer was born in Ansonia, Ohio, on January 19, 1937 to the late J. Ray and Doris (Jenkinson) Brewer. He was preceded in death by an infant son in 1958 and sister in law, Judy Brodrick in 2007.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary (McKibben) Brewer; son, Steve E. Brewer and wife Jill (Wigner) of Troy, Ohio; daughter, Teresa J. Hooper and husband William of Alamo, CA. He was a loving and devoted Papaw to his pride and joy grandchildren, Austin Brewer, John and Lucy Hooper. He is also survived by a brother, Herb Brewer and wife Stella; niece, Stacy Brewer of Vass, N.C.; sister in law and brother in law, Diane and Denver Anthony; brother in law, Marvin Brodrick and numerous nieces and nephews.

Homer was employed with Nestles Company, Fram Corporation, and retiring from Corning Glass Works after 18 years of service. In 1974 he formed HB Decorating and Son Painting business which Steve took over in 2000.

Homer served a total of 24 years as a Greenville Township Zoning Inspector and a Greenville Township Trustee. He loved working and serving the people of Greenville.

He was a huge sport fan. He played basketball at Ansonia High School and continued playing industrial and church basketball and baseball for many years. Homer was an avid bowler and golfer.

He loved life, spending time with family and friends, camping, and family reunions.

He loved his home on the hill where you often would see him on his John Deere tractor or in his huge garden. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Elks Lodge of Greenville. Homer was a good friend to all who knew him. His legacy will live on through those lives he touched.

There will be a service held on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Joe Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Teegarden Cemetery, Ansonia, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.

Gloria J. (Hollinger) Gantt, age 65, of Painter Creek, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 5:25 AM at her residence. She was born on May 24, 1945 in Piqua, Ohio to her father and step mother, Elvin K. & Virginia Hollinger of Greenville, Ohio and her late mother, Violet (Hendrickson) Hollinger.


Gloria sold Avon for 10 years and was also a homemaker. She loved traveling, flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a 1963 graduate of Bradford High School.

In addition to her mother she is preceded in death by her brothers in law, Bill Deeter and Bob Brumbaugh; and Father and Mother in law, Murray & Bernice Gantt.

She is survived by her husband, Franklin Gantt of Painter Creek, Ohio, whom she married on April 8, 1967; sons and daughters in law, Douglas & Kristy Gantt of Laura, Ohio and Brian & Cassie Gantt of Painter Creek, Ohio; grandchildren, Tyler Kanet, Kyle Kanet, Maggie Gantt, Maureen, Madeline, and Murphy Gantt; brother and sister in law, Dan & Shirley Hollinger of Ansonia, Ohio; sister, Linda L. Kevin worked at Fram, Tomasco, Masters, Milso, and Production Paint. He was a member the East Main Church of Christ. He loved model cars, garage sales, NASCAR memorabilia, and spending time with his children.

In addition to his father he is preceded in death by his grandmother Pearl Mowery.

Jerrold Lee Miller age 74, of Pitsburg, Ohio went to be with the Lord, Friday Feb.4th. He is survived by sister Glenna Mae Cress and brothers Doyle and Kenny Miller. He was a beloved father to 2 sons and 2 daughters, Samuel and Glenda Miller, Susan and Thomas Blosser, Joe and Kim Miller and Julia and Ted Day. He was Papaw to grandchildren Sammy, Sean, Brandon, Joanne, Leah, Bethany, Micah, Joey, Krystal and Jennifer and also their spouses. His Great Granddaughters are Miyah, Annah, Savannah, Madison and Great Grandson Nathan (with two great grandbabies on the way). He was well loved…and loved well; he will be missed deeply by his family and friends. Noah Bryan Keel Jr., age 88 of Union City, Ohio, passed away at 3:35 A.M. on Monday, January 31, 2011 at Union City Care Center in Union City, Ohio. Noah was born April 6, 1922 in Cawood, Kentucky, to the late Bryan & Mollie (Harris) Keel.

Noah was a factory worker. He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Herbert during WWII.

He was born November 1, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of the late Emerson Bell & Anna Margaret (Uhl) Mathieson. He was a truck driver for Subler Transfer, Subler Trucking, Dick Lavy Trucking; he delivered cars for Porsche & BMW, & retired from J.B. Hunt Trucking. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, American Legion, and was very interested in cars.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Carol Jean Denlinger (January 31, 2011)

Carol Jean “Jeanie” (Yoder-Hyre) Denlinger of Eldorado, Ohio was born July 16, 1933 in Dayton, Ohio. She departed this life on January 31, 2011 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana following a brief illness.

She was united in marriage to Jessie R. Denlinger of Clayton, Ohio on November 16, 1952 who survives.

She is also survived by their three children, Gordon L. (Cheryl) Denlinger of Eldorado, Kevin R. (Marjorie) of Hollansburg, and Carla J. Denlinger of Greenville; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie (Jerald) Swearingen of New Carlisle, Ohio; one niece and nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Ruth (Derringer) Yoder and adoptive parents, Jessie and Mary (Yoder) Hyre.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 2-5 and 6-9 PM at Prices Creek Old German Baptist Church on State Route 726, Eldorado, Ohio (1 ½ miles north of St. Rt. 40). Funeral services will be on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the church with . Burial will immediately follow at the Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Reid Hospital Foundation to Benefit Hospice, North Central Emergency Squad or the Prices Creek Church. Services entrusted to Braund Funeral Home in New Madison.

Mary Ann Filby (January 30, 2011)

Mary A. (Unger) Filby, 77, of New Madison passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at her residence. Mary was born in Darke County, Ohio on December 25, 1933 to George Unger and Gladys (Bowman) Unger-Mogul.

Mary was a graduate of Greenville High School. She later worked and retired from K Mart Department Store. Mary was an excellent cook and worked in her retirement for Fort Black Buffet in New Madison. She was also a member of Harrison Street Baptist Church. Mary enjoyed gardening, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her family, and watching her grandsons play basketball at Tri Village Schools.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband Vernie Filby in 1994, and two sisters, Jeanette and Barbie.

Mary is survived by three sons, Mike (Becky) Filby, John (Brenda) Filby and Alan (Sharon) Filby all of New Madison; four grandchildren, John (Ashlee) Filby of Greenville, Matthew (Ashley) Filby of Greenville, Sara Filby of New Madison and Brook Lynn Filby of Arcanum; two brothers, Dave (Jean) Mogul of New Madison and Jerry Mogul of Greenville; a sister, Evelyn (Keith) Hamilton of Arcanum; and a very special companion, her dog Sara.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 4, 2011 from 4 – 7 PM at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 10:30 AM also at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Kyle Herrmann being asked to officiate. Burial will follow in Greenmound cemetery.

Earl L. Perrin (January 30, 2011)

Earl L. Perrin, 76 of West Manchester, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011 at his residence after a brief illness.

He was born May 15, 1934 in Montgomery County, son of the late Ova Harris and Edna Helen (Sleppy) Perrin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Perrin.

Earl had worked most of his life as a self employed carpenter.

He is survived by his children, Glen (Carma) Perrin, Sr. of Washington, Michelle Johnston of Brookville, Dan Chapman, Mary Pell, Ruthie (Ed) Rehmert, Charlie Chapman, Babbi (Rocky) Ward Ward all of Greenville, and Rusty (Chris) Chapman of Columbus; grandchildren, Thomas Warner, Patrick Rehmert, Mandy Rismiller, Megan Neff, Shelby Pell, Gracie Pell, Ashley Scarford, Gabrielle Perrin, and Glen Perrin, Jr.; and a great grandson, Wyatt Warner.

A private service will be held at a later date at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 4 from 6-8 p.m.

James E. Develbiss (January 30, 2011)

James E. Develbiss, 93, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2001 at his residence. He was born May 5, 1917 in Darke County, son of the late Harry and Mayme (Swadner) Develbiss. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Develbiss and a sister, Lavon Schlecty. Jim was retired from Corning Glass in Greenvillke where he had worked in the maintenance department for  over 25 years. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII. He is survived by his daughter Linda (David) Hall of Greencastle, IN. A memorial service with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held Thursday, February 3 at 11 a.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Ft. Jefferson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10 a.m. till 11 a.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society.
