Ned T. Alspaugh (April 27, 2011)

Ned T. Alspaugh, 81, of Brookville, died Wednesday evening, April 27, 2011 at Friendship Village, Trotwood. He was born in Lewisburg, on April 8, 1930, the son of the late Mintford and Mable (Albright) Alspaugh. He was a retired 33 year employee of DP&L. Mr. Alspaugh was a U. S. Army Veteran. Ned is Survived by wife Phyllis (Urich), whom he married August 1, 1953; Daughters Shirley Hayslett of Eaton and Cindy Smuzok and husband Scott of Franklin; Son Charles Alspaugh of Eaton; 6 Grandchildren Eric Hayslett and wife Lonni, Sara Marker and husband Jerod, Amanda Hayslett, Ethan Smuzok, Emma Smuzok, and Courtney Alspaugh; 1 Great Grandson Oliver Marker; Brother Byron Alspaugh and wife Patsy of Eaton; and Sister Phyllis Steindler of Baltimore, MD. Funeral Services will be held Noon, Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum with Rev John Wiltshire officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg. The family will receive relatives and friends 1 Hour before the service Monday.

Joan R. Dunlap (April 27, 2011)

Joan R. Dunlap, 86, of Beavercreek, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Trinity Community, Beavercreek. Mrs. Dunlap was a former long time resident of Arcanum. She was born in Oakwood on February 7, 1925, the daughter of the late Mathew A. and Muriel D. (Houtzer) Robnolte. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Arcanum; Choir Director for the Faith and Trinity United Methodist Churches. She was a well known local artist, a member of the Criterion Club, and a member of the Arcanum Historical Society. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Victor R. Dunlap, who died September 3, 2002, Grand Daughter Abigail Samulak, and 2 Brothers Richard and William Robnolte. Survived by 3 Daughters Linda Garitson and husband Gary of Columbus, Indiana, Lydia Fourman and husband Terry of Westfield, Indiana, Jennifer Morrison and husband Brent of Bellbrook; 2 Sons Vic Dunlap and wife Sandra of Defiance and Ron Dunlap and wife Norma of Chelan, Washington; 8 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; and Sister Norma Cunningham of Defiance. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum with Rev Bev Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Ithaca Cemetery. Lewis A. Kremer (April 23, 2011)

Lewis A. Kremer, age 84, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 9:40 PM at his residence. He was born on July 8, 1926 in Maria Stein, Ohio, to the late John D. & Agnes (Menker) Kremer.
Lewis retired from Minster Farmer’s Co-op and also was a retired farmer. He was a member of the United States Army serving in WWII, St. Denis Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW in Versailles, AM Vets in Covington, and Versailles Eagles. Lewis enjoyed his family, church, gardening, going to his woods and golfing with his buddies.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings, Ivo Kremer, Otto Kremer, Elsie Will, and Dorothy Winner; half siblings, Roman Kremer, Edward Kremer, Lawrence Kremer, Neal Kremer, Clara Balster and Herb Kremer.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. (Cramer) Kremer of Versailles, Ohio, whom he married on April 28, 1945 in Camp Blanding, Florida, by Chaplain Thomas O’Malloy; children and spouses, Tony L. & Mary Ellen Kremer of Celina, Ohio, David (Red) & Ruth Kremer of Versailles, Ohio, Diana & Dale George of Versailles, Ohio, Jo & Chuck Langenkamp of Greenville, Ohio, Ron & Sheree Kremer of Versailles, Ohio, Jill & Clarence (Butch) Simons of Greenville, Ohio, Dan & Jackie Kremer of Versailles, Ohio, and Ken & Julia Kremer of Versailles, Ohio; 26 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren; siblings, Walter & Rita Kremer of Kettering, Ohio, Fred & Martha Kremer of West Lafayette, Indiana, Ray & Jean Kremer of Coldwater, Ohio, and Emily Minch of Celina, Ohio; sister in law, Nettie Cramer of Stafford, Virginia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, 14 East Wood Street, Versailles, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 2-8 PM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio, as well as Saturday from 9-10 AM at the funeral home. A graveside military service will be conducted by the Versailles Veterans Honor Guard. The Knights of Columbus will have a prayer service on Friday evening at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Charles William Frech (April 23, 2011)

Charles William Frech passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011, at his home. He was born February 3, 1927 to John and Marie (Gulley) Frech in Middleboro, Indiana. He lived in Richmond and Liberty, Indiana and resided the past 38 years in New Madison, Ohio.

He attended Liberty schools and was a Navy Veteran of World War II and the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge.

Charles was employed at Avco/Precision Products Division, Richmond, Indiana for 25 years. He attended several NC programming classes and retired from Cadillac Gage/Textron, Greenville, Ohio in 1991. Favorite interests included watching NASCAR racing, growing flowers, vegetables and canning.

He was an active member of the New Madison United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking for some of the church’s special events.

Survivors include his daughter, Linda S. (George) Carr of Richmond, Indiana; granddaughters, Julie M. (Nick) Lemming of Seymour, Indiana and Gina M. (Alex) Cue of Oak Park, IL; great-grandchildren; Abigail Lemming, Sarah Lemming, Andrew Lemming, and Logan Cue; sister, Martha (Bob) Sigmon of Richmond, Indiana; half-brother, Steven Frech, and half-sister, Donna Wilmot, both of Centerville, Indiana; close friends, Sandra Cowgill, Michael Cowgill, and Shane Cowgill; and special friend, Jean Baker; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary K. Rubush; brother, Howard Frech; nephew, Gary Rubush; nieces, Sharon Mullinax and Alice Welbaum.
The funeral service with military honors given by the Navy will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 1:00 pm at Braund Funeral Home, New Madison, Ohio, with Pastor Steve Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the service from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Vernon J. Winner (April 23, 2011)

Mr. Vernon J. Winner, age 90 of Versailles, Ohio passed away on Saturday April 23, 2011 at 5:25 PM at the Versailles Health Care Center, Versailles, Ohio. He was born January 16, 1921 north of Sidney, Ohio, the son of the late Herman and Loretta (Luthman) Winner. He was raised in McCartysville and then spent his adult life in Versailles. He was a Seaman 1st Class in the United States Coast Guard.

He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio, member of the Versailles K. of C., member of the Versailles Eagles and American Legion, he was a Distributor and Server for Mass at St. Denis, Former President of VDA, past Chairman of Poultry Days, Past President of Versailles Industrial Park, operated various businesses and restaurants in the area such as: the former Chick Inn Restaurant, in the 50’s along with Bill Bohman owned and operated Frenchies Restaurant in Versailles, owned the Tastee Freeze in Versailles & Piqua, formerly owned Del-Win Lanes (Bowling Lanes), in the 70’s he was personnel Manager for Argosy manufacturing in Versailles & later managed Frenchies & Versailles Hotel for Carl Subler.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Wife: Dorothy F. (Kremer) Winner on June 21 1999 whom he married April 11, 1945; Grandson: Brett A. Oliver; Granddaughter: Michelle (Shelly) Buxton; Brother: Ernest Winner; Sisters: Treva McKim, Mary Ann Schmitmeyer.

He is survived by his sons & daughters in law: Larry & Cheryl Winner of Dublin, Ohio, J.D. Glen Rismiller (April 22, 2011)

Glen Rismiller, age 82 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Friday April 22, 2011 at 6:53 PM at the Brethren Retirement community. He was born May 15, 1928 in Darke County, Ohio the son of the late John and Emma (Stuck) Rismiller.

He was a farmer all of his life. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of North Star, serving in all positions of the church council. He was president of the North Star Fire Department for many years and served on many fund raisers for the York Township and Wayne Hospital Drive.

He is the last of his family having been preceded in death by his parents; Brothers: Homer and Earl Rismiller; sisters: Edith Billenstine and Doris Isenhour.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Norma J. (Vagedes) Rismiller of Versailles; children and spouses: Brenda and Nick Schwartz, Debbie and John Kettering, Jack and Rhonda Rismiller, Randy and Lily Ruan Rismiller, Lori and Chris Kreifels; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Dorothy Rismiller and brother-in-law: David Isenhour.

Services will be held on Wednesday April 27, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 13495 Greenville St. Mary’s Road, North Star, Ohio with Pastor Laura Shreffler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, North Star, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday April 26, 2011 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio and 1 hour prior to services in Wednesday at the church. Anna Elizabeth (Pleiman) Henry (April 22, 2011)

Anna Elizabeth (Pleiman) Henry, age 97 of Versailles, Ohio passed away on Friday April 22, 2011 at 4:08 AM at the Versailles Health Care Center, Versailles, Ohio. She was born April 2, 1914 in McCartyville, Ohio. The daughter of the late Bernard & Mary (Hoying) Pleiman.

A resident of Versailles for 65 years she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she worked along side her husband on the dairy farm north of Versailles. She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Henry, whom she married April 29, 1939 and was married to for 69 years. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brothers: Henry, Albin, Leonard, Sylvester, Bernard, and Jerome Pleiman, and sister: Corrine Bornhorst.

Anna is survived by her children: Marilyn and Okey Kennedy of Citrus Springs, Florida, James and Kathy Henry of Tipp City, Ohio, Thomas and Marlene Henry of Hudson, Indiana and Bernice and William Hail of Mason, Ohio; 14 Grandchildren; 18 Great Grandchildren; Sisters: Norma Puthoff and Stella Evers and Sisters-in-law: Eileen Pleiman and Sally Pleiman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday April 26, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church 14 E. Wood Street, Versailles, Ohio with Rev. Fr. David Vincent Celebrant. Burial will follow on St. Valbert Cemetery. Roy L. Hunt (April 22, 2011)

Roy L. Hunt, 84, of Greenville, formerly of Lake Maloney, North Platte, Nebraska, died Friday, April 22, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton. Mr. Hunt was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on August 20, 1926, the son of the late Roy L. and Rosa (Lambert) Couch. Roy was raised by his Grand Parents and Adoptive Father and Mother Charles and Rosalee Hunt. He was Native American, Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Deer Clan, a 1943 Graduate of North Platte High School. Roy was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Ithaca; a veteran of the U. S. Navy, member of the Greenville VFW and American Legion. He was a member of the North Platte Masonic Lodge, a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Tehama Temple of the Shrine Club. Mr. Hunt held a commercial pilot's license, loved hunting, fishing, and golf and was a wood carver. He was retired 43 year employee of the Union Pacific Railroad in North Platte. Roy was preceded in death by 2 Brothers Jack Couch and Jim Hunt. He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Rosenberg) Hunt, whom he married December 18, 1943; Daughter Mary Flint and husband Frank of Arcanum; 2 Grandchildren Craig Flint and wife Rhonda of Union and Lee Ann Shadowens and husband Mark of Kettering; 4 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandsons. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, April 25, 2011 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Ithaca, with Pastor Joene Herr officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska. The family will receive relatives and friends Monday 1 hour before the time of services at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Phillip C. Benge (April 21, 2011)

Phillip C. Benge, 59, of Ansonia, passed away Thursday evening April 21, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.

He was born January 7, 1952 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Henry and Lois Madge (Shook) Benge. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Benge.

Phillip spent most of his life as a truck driver for many different companies. He was a veteran having served during the Vietnam Era.

He is survived by his daughters, Amanda Benge, and Kacey (Grady) Benge-Caldwell; grandchildren, Kylie Caldwell, Levi Griffith, and Maicie Griffith; brothers and sisters, Willard "Gene" (Cheryl) Clouse, Terry (Cheryl) Benge, Linda (Tim) Burnfield, and Patty Stigman; and several nieces and nephews.

Private service with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at Shook's Cemetery near Rossburg.

There will be no public visitation.

Services have been entrusted with Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville.

Arlene L. York (April 20, 2011)

Arlene L. York, age 84 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday April 20, 2011 at 2:33 PM at Gade Heath Care Center, Greenville, Ohio.

She was born September 29, 1926 near Dawn, Ohio to the late Earl & Sylvia (Burns) York. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, June O. York.

Arlene was retired from Fram Corp. and a dairy herd that she and her sister June had managed since the death of their father in 1957. Prior to her stay at Gade Health Care Center, she had lived at the home farm near Greenville for 70 years. Arlene enjoyed many different hand crafts and the making of decorations for her home. She also attended Trinity Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by her sister Vernita (Max) Longfellow Hamilton of Greenville; a nephew, Steve (pat) Longfellow, a niece, Jana (Jeff) Boudouris of Centerville; two great nephews, Doug (Kelli) Longfellow of Greenville and Ryan Boudouris of Centerville; one great niece, Jeannie (Aaron) Longfellow Reid of New London, Minnesota; three great-great nephews, Gregory, Daniel, and Jonathon Reid of New London, Minnesota; two great-great nieces, Hope Reid, New London, Minnesota, and Aleta Longfellow of Greenville.

Private services are planned under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Wesleyan Church Building Fund, Greenville, Ohio.

Hazel M. Matthieu (April 20, 2011)

Hazel M. Matthieu age 97 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 4:15 P.M. on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Hazel was born February 20, 1914 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late John & Iva (Fosnaugh) Rue.
Hazel formerly worked at Buckeye Overall Company in Versailles for several years. She was a member of Versailles United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Hazel is also preceded in death by her daughters, Roberta & Dorothy Matthieu; brothers, William, Basil, Robert, Richard, Lester and Gerald Rue; sister, Alma Gasson; and half brothers, Herman, Robert and John Gasson.
Hazel is survived by a sister, Golda Matthieu of Versailles and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 25, 2011 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Rick Gutheil officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Monday from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Sherri D. (Drew) McClellan (April 18, 2011)

Sherri D. (Drew) McClellan, 59, of Hollansburg, passed away on April 18, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Sherri was born on December 29, 1951 to the late Ralph and Juanita (Williams) Drew.

Sherri was a graduate of New Madison Schools and retired from FRAM after 37 years of service in Greenville as an assembly worker. She loved to crochet, play cards such as euchre and pinochle, mushroom hunt, go fishing and enjoyed collecting Coca Cola memorabilia. Sherri loved to cook and was mostly known for her delicious fudge and cheese cakes. She was a big fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhart Jr. Sherri enjoyed going to flea markets, and watching old westerns and soap opera’s on TV. However, her greatest love was spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Sherri is preceded in death by a brother, Steve Drew; two great nephews, Damion and Dakota; her father-in-law, Earl McClellan and mother-in-law, Virginia McClellan.

Sherri is survived by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” D. McClellan of 17 years; two daughters, Samantha (Roger) Billups and Bobbie Sue Hampshire; three grandchildren, Roberta Joellen “Joey” (Jason) Yost, Benjamin Joseph Hampshire and Kirsten Renee Hampshire; two great grandchildren, Shannon Renee Yost and Jason Scott Yost, Jr.; a brother, Ronnie (Joy) Drew; two sister, Shirley (Ernie) Spurrier, and Marsha Spurrier ; her mother-in-law, Patty Louk; three sister-in-laws, Linda Drew, Shirley (Rob) Cummoms and Tammy (Jim) Suttles; four brother-in-laws, Ron McClellan, Fred McClellan, Mark (Barb) McClellan and Mike (Wendy) McClellan; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from on Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 5-8 PM at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 22, 2011 also at the funeral home with the Rev. Eric Fee being asked to officiate. Robert James Lucas (April 18, 2011)

Robert James Lucas, age 50, of Verona, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 8:45 PM at his residence. He was born on January 11, 1961 in Dayton, Ohio, to Joyce (Temple) Cole of Verona, Ohio, and the late William Lucas.
Robert had a very strong faith with the Lord and touched many lives. His life was a witness and testament to the Lord.
In addition to his father he is preceded in death by his brother, Steven Lucas.
He is survived by his mother; daughter, Marie Nicole Lucas of Fort Myers, Florida; 1 brother; 4 sisters; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
There will be a memorial service held on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at 6:00 PM at Faith Worship Center, New Lebanon, Ohio, with Pastor Doug Riegel officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Margaret Jane Cole (April 17, 2011)

Margaret Jane Cole, age 80, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Heartland of Kettering. She was born on September 9, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Dr. Jeffries G. Cole and Martha (Griffin) Cole.
She worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Cale Logsdon for 23 years and also worked at Elder-Beerman for 32 years. She was a 1949 graduate of Greenville High School.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her twin sister, Barbara Jean Miller.
She is survived by her brother, James G. Cole of Middletown, Ohio; step mother, Glenna (Morrison) Cole of Greenville; step sister, Sheryl Gartner of Cincinnati, Ohio; niece, Martha Jane Ouimet of Austin, Texas; great nephew and niece, Matthew Cole and Emily Jean Ouimet.
There will be a graveside service held on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Ohio, with Pastor Don Myers officiating. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Erma M. Breymier (April 16, 2011)

Erma M. Breymier, 92, of Versailles and formerly of Ansonia, passed away early Saturday morning, April 16, 2011 at the Versailles Health Care Center in Versailles.

She was born October 16, 1918 in Jay County, IN, daughter of the late Harry C. and Elymira (Armstrong) Bickel. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Breymier on Sept. 30, 1994, and a sister, Onda Beasley.

Erma was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. She had sold Shaklee Vitamins for over 30 years. She was a member of the Ansonia Christian Church and the women's fellowship of the church for over 50 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie (fiancee, Herb Hoening) of Versailles; two grandchildren, Chris (Kim) Barnhardt of Sylvania, OH, and Nicole (Gerardo) Hernandez of Troy.

Mary Margaret Trissel age 84 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 9:35 P.M. on Friday, April 15, 2011 at Gade Health Care Center in Greenville. Mary was born May 8, 1926 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Charles A. & Retta A. (Godown) Richardson.
Mary was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, Mary is also preceded in death by her husband, James L. Trissel Sr.; sisters, Isabelle Tinkham, Daisy Frances Enichs, Patricia Pepple and Nancy Cromwell; and a brother, Charles A. Richardson.
Mary is survived by her children, James L. Wyatt Paul Farmer, infant son of Greg Aaron and Ameila Mae (Morrison) Farmer, passed away on April 14, 2011 at Miami Valley Hospital.

In addition to his parents, Wyatt is survived by two brothers, Jackson Andrew Farmer and Levi Joseph Farmer; paternal grandparents, Brett & Ruth Farmer of Englewood; maternal grandparents, Paul & Marilyn Morrison of New Madison; paternal great grandparents, Jack Farmer of West Milton and Joe and Johnnie Bouck of West Milton; maternal great grandparents Wanda Bright of Greenville and Phyllis Cheeks of Arcanum; three aunts, Mandy Lipps of Lewisburg, Ashley (Shelby) Shilt of Coldwater and Stephanie Coehick of Englewood; one uncle, Jeremy (Tammy) Morrison of Greenville; 7 cousins, Dalton, Alexis, Breanna, Kaeden, Cooper, Alexis and Elizabeth.

Mary H. Shull, age 84 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Boaz, Alabama passed away at 4:30 A.M. Thursday April 14, 2011 at the Heartland Nursing Home Greenville, Ohio. Mary was born June 2, 1926 in Zepher Hill, Florida. She was the daughter of the late John H. and Betty (Carroll) Smith Sr.

Mary was retired from Anchor Hocking Glass of Winchester, Indiana. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary of Boaz, Al. and the Alder Springs Baptist Church of Albertville, Alabama.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Shull; step son Gene Shull; 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

Mary is survived by a step son Jerry (Judy) Shull of Muncie, Indiana, Brother John H. Shull Jr. of Alabama as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 6:30 P.M. Monday April 18, 2011 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Toni Henninger officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:30 P.M. until time of the services in the Greenville funeral home.

Paul Richard Baker (April 12, 2011)

Paul Richard Baker, 81, of Greenville, passed away on April 12, 2011 at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville. Paul was born on December 10, 1929 in Greenville to the late Vern and Ruby (Coover) Baker.
Paul worked for Hamilton Motors in Greenville as a Parts Manager for 16 years and also worked in the sales department for 10 years. Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and helping his wife in the garden. He and his wife enjoyed spending the winters in Florida for 28 years.
In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his sister, Doris Brewer.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Thelma (Hollinger) Baker, whom he married on January 22, 1949; two sons, Gary (Irene) Baker of Lebanon, Ohio and Dennis (Pat) Baker of Gettysburg, Ohio; a brother Lowell Baker of Metamora, Illinois; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Martha Ellen Routson age 101 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Fair Haven Shelby County Home in Sidney. Martha was born December 5, 1909 in Shelby County, Ohio, to the late Charles E. & Clara J. (Mader) McKinney.
Martha formerly worked at Rossburg Cannery, Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville, and farmed. Martha was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Versailles, where she was very active. She was also a member of Wayne Grange and a former member of Wayne Willing Workers.
In addition to her parents, Martha is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Routson on March 30, 1983 whom she married June 30, 1935; and twin brothers, Chester and Lester McKinney.

Wilma I. Ely (April 11, 2011)

Wilma I. Ely, age 92 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Bokeelia, Florida passed away at 2:10 P.M. Monday April 11, 2011 at the Sterling House of Greenville, Ohio. Wilma was born June 26, 1918 in Bluffton, Ohio and the daughter of the late Isaiah and Caroline (Augsburger) Welty.

Wilma was a Registered Nurse retiring in the early 1970’s from the Lutheran Hospital of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

She was a member of the Retired American Nursing Association, Hobby Club of Pine Island, Fla., an active member and Bible Study Leader at the United Methodist Church also of Pine Island. Wilma was very well known for her basket weaving and knitting.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harry B. Ely in 2007. They were married in 1977. She was also preceded in death by a brother Walter Welty; sisters Barbara Fleming, Edna Fleming and Viola Peters as well as a nephew Wayne Fleming.

She is survived by a nephew Norman Fleming; nieces Esther (Jim) Woodworth, Marcine (Weldon) Geiger, Barbara (David) Ernest, Sarah Lou (Tom) Moneer, Arlene (Gene) Derringer and Carolyn (Don) Beitz.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

John was retired as a truck driver for the Michael Brehm Trucking Company of Arcanum, Ohio.

John is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lesa J. (Sleppy) Eberhart of Union City, Ohio. Also son Robert Elsner of Union City; grandchildren Alycia Saunder, Edward Saunder, Angel Elsner, Autumn Elsner, Austin Romer and Alexander Elfritz. Sonja was part owner of the Korner Restaurant in Arcanum for over 20 years and also worked at Crow in Dayton, Ohio.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, John, Wayne, and Jimmy Roberts; sisters, Trula Brewer and Erma Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Barnhill of Arcanum, Ohio, whom she married on March 19, 1955; daughters and son in law, Rhonda (David) Marshal of Arcanum and Sharon Madascy of Arcanum; grandchildren, Misty Dickens, Kristen Marshal, and Steven Madascy; great grandchildren, Matthew Marshal and Chase Dickens; brother, Mick Roberts of Hillsboro, Ohio; sisters, Margaret Taylor of Middleburg, Kentucky and Donnah Clark of Huber Heights, Ohio; and loving niece, Wendy.

Helen M. (Calvert) Dunn, 86, of Arcanum, passed away on April 10, 2011 at Heartland of Greenville. She was born on January 26, 1925 in Barrackville, West Virginia to the late William and Ora May (Nestor) Calvert.

Helen was a local business owner for many years of the Dunn Hobby Shop. She was a seamstress and a member of the Community Action Partnership. Most of all, Helen enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Lowell E. Dunn; a daughter, Angela S. Enicks; a sister, Lucille McNutt and a brother, Carl Calvert.

Helen is survived by a son, Lowell E. Dunn, Jr.; three daughters, Sandra L. Dunn, Janice K. (Jim) Clark and Debra A. Dunn; a son-in-law, David Enicks; a brother, Larry (Kathy) Calvert; three sisters, Violet Cochran, Norma (Bud) Penny and Doris Starns; 10 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.

Wayne L. Marker Sr. (April 9, 2011)

Wayne L. Marker Sr., age 88, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Wayne Healthcare, Greenville, Ohio. He was born on February 19, 1923 in Arcanum, Ohio, to the late Rufus & Mary (Paul) Marker.
Wayne retired from NCR as a Stock Keeper and then retired from Corning Inc. after 7 ½ years of service. After retirement Wayne went to work at CAC in Greenville.
He was a member of the United States Army serving in WWII, Greenville Church of the Brethren, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 57, VFW Post 7262, American Legion Post 140, and the Purple Heart Club in Ohio. He was a 62 year member of Greenville Masonic Lodge #143; member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton of which he was a 32nd Degree Mason; the Antioch Shrine of Dayton; and the Darke County Shrine Club.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, J.B., Robert, Kenneth and Paul Marker; sisters, Olive Nitchman, Marcella Ashman, Ella Mae Hubler, Dorothy Lecklider, Lydia Townsend, and Julia Reier.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve (Lyons) Marker of Greenville whom he married on April 12, 1941; children and spouses, Roger (Janice) Marker of Centerville, Ohio, Brenda S. Denlinger of Greenville, Wayne L. Marker Jr. and life partner Mary of Covington, Kentucky, and Linda (Tim) Hunt of Greenville; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a service held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Ron Sherck officiating. Vicki Stickel, age 83, of Greenville, Ohio, and formerly of Carshalton Surrey, England, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 9:22 AM at the Sterling House, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on January 25, 1928 in Carshalton Surrey, England.
Vicki was a homemaker who also worked as an entertainer in the Theater and Circus business. She was a member of the Darke County Republican Women’s Club where she served as Vice President for many years and chaired on the Annual Lincoln Day and Republican Fair Tent committees. She was also elected and served on the Darke County Republican Central Community. Vicki was a member of an English Club in Dayton, Ohio, and Elks in Greenville.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her 2nd husband, Edwin Brooks Stickel; and brother, Peter Lambourne.

Helen M. (Berning) Fullenkamp, age 91, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Friday, April 08, 2011 at 1:49 AM at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville, Ohio. She was born on January 12, 1920 in Shelby County, Ohio, to the late Frank & Josephine (Meyer) Berning.
She was the owner and operator of Tom’s Place in Frenchtown, Ohio, from 1948-1961 and also worked at the Crystal Ball and Frenchtown Restaurant. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, St. Ann Sodality and Eagles Aux. in Versailles. She was an avid bingo player.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas B. Fullenkamp whom she married on July 2, 1941.
She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Frank & Karen Fullenkamp of Versailles and David & Ann Fullenkamp of Versailles; grandchildren, Ryan Fullenkamp, Bradley J. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 3-7 PM and Monday 9-10 AM prior to the Mass at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio.

Ray E. Caupp (April 7, 2011)

Ray E. Caupp, 79, of Greenville , passed away early Thursday morning, April 7, 2011 at his residence.

He was born September 17, 1931 in Jackson Township , Darke County , son of the late Everett S. and Ethel Marie (Cash) Caupp.. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Straley.

Ray was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He had farmed for approximately 30 years on Raper Nelson’s old farm near Coletown. He had worked for the former Nestles in Greenville , was a bus driver for the Greenville City School District, was a mechanic for Moody's Auto Sales & Lorton's Service Station, and for the last twenty years owned and operated his own auto repair shop.

He was a member of the American Legion and Eagles both in Union City .

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara J. (Montoney) Caupp, whom he married March 18, 1955; sons, Terry (Patty) Caupp of Gettysburg and Chris (Jill) Caupp of Versailles; daughters, Jeanne (Doug) Lyme of Greenville, and Tracy (Donnie) Marker of Greenville; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Harvey Caupp of Lakeland, FL; two sisters, Marianna Horner of Greenville, and Dorothy Fields of Union City, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 12 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Brent Reeder officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens .

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, April 11 from 5-8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to either the State of the Heart Hospice or the Ansonia First Church of God.

Lois M. Marker, age 91, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 6:24 AM at Heartland of Greenville, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on January 4, 1920 in Troy, Ohio, to the late Bruce & Gladys (Sphar) Landis.
Lois was a homemaker and a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Burdette Marker whom she married on February 9, 1941; sons, Bruce Marker and Chris Marker; granddaughter, Gabrielle Frazee; also a brother and sister.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Pat & Lavena Marker of Greenville; daughters and sons in law, Debbie & John O’Reilly of Greenville, Laura Witters of Greenville, and Lorelei & Marlin Miles of Ansonia, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; 2 brothers and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a service held on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio, with one of the Elder of the Jehovah’s Witnesses officiating. Family will receive friends from 12-2 PM on Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home. There will be a graveside service held on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Greenville Cemetery, New Section, Greenville, Ohio.

Robert L. “Bob” Young, age 73, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 6:16 PM at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio. He was born on February 8, 1938 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Lewis & Dorothy (Anthony) Young.
Bob really enjoyed fishing, farming, camping, horses and greeting people at the front door of Rest Haven Nursing Home.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his Aunt Bun.
He is survived by his sisters, Betty Lou Young and Lois House of Greenville; niece, Angela (Kevin) Beumer of Greenville; nephew, Ronnie (Karla) House of Albany, Indiana; great niece, Tiffany Beumer of Greenville; Aunt, Ruby Young and family of Ft. Recovery, Ohio.
There will be a service held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Lowell Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Ft. Jefferson, Ohio. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Henry Clay Richardson, 76, of rural Arcanum, died Wednesday morning, April 6, 2011 at his home. Mr. Richardson was born in Harlan County, Kentucky on January 24, 1935, the son of the late Thomas Gillis and Laura (Howard) Richardson. He was a member of Greenview Calvary Tabernacle Dayton. Mr. Richardson was a retired employee of the Kroger Company and General Motors in Dayton. Henry was preceded in death by 2 Sisters Colleen Pace and Pat Baker, and his Brother Jess Richardson. He is survived by his wife Mary (Baker) Richardson whom he married December 19, 1953; Sons Hank Richardson and wife Linda of southern Darke County and Robert Richardson and wife Keely of West Manchester; Grandchildren Rebecca North and husband Nicholas, Ruth Ellen Seifert and husband Matthew, Emily Richardson, Brian Richardson, Aaron Richardson, and David Richardson; and a Great Granddaughter Madelynn North; Brother Howard Richardson of Dayton; Uncle Willis Howard of Huber Heights; several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, April 8, 2011 at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum with Pastor Tim Livingston officiating. Burial will follow in Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg. Jack E. Matchett (April 4, 2011)

Jack E. Matchett age 72 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 12:10 P.M. on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Jack was born July 26, 1938 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Nelson & Gladys D. (Miller) Matchett.
Jack was the former owner of Jack’s Antiques and Furniture Store in Greenville. He was also an Auctioneer.

In addition to his parents, Jack is also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Matchett.
Jack is survived by a sister, Delores Marshall of Greenville; niece, Jacklyn & Zdenek Beloch of Greenville; great niece, Chastity Baker; and a great nephew, Jacob Baker.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Arnold Wynn and Rev. Doug Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery in Darke County. The family will receive friends on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.

Lily I. Cottrell (April 4, 2011)

Lily I. Cottrell, 93, of Greenville and formerly of Rossburg, passed away early Monday morning, April 4, 2011 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.

She was born December 3, 1917 in Darke County, daughter of the late Harry and Lova (Redinbaugh) Derr. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Cottrell; two sons, Tex O. Cottrell and Keith Cottrell; and two sisters, Ruby Middleton and Deveta Coons.

Lily is survived two sons, Edgar S. Cottrell of Jupiter, FL, and Otto L. Cottrell of Greenville; two daughters-in-law, Nancy Cottrell and Judy Cottrell-Gibson of Greenville; 9 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

A graveside services will be held Thursday, April 7 at 3 p.m. at the Holsapple Cemetery near New Weston, with Rev. Lowell Miller officiating.

There will be no public visitation. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to either the Rossburg Fire Department or the Ansonia Area Rescue.

Annamae “Ann” Burns (April 3, 2011)

Annamae “Ann” Burns, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 3, 2011, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

She was born in Muncie, IN, daughter of the late Russell and Margie (Fadley) Eley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Burns, Sr. on November 11, 1994; a granddaughter, Jessica Lee; three brothers, Robert, Jimmy and Jack Eley; and two sisters, Geraldine Smith and Sally Brosher.

Ann was a real estate broker having owned and operated Ann Burns Realty in Greenville for several years. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenville and had served on the building committee for the new YMCA building in Greenville. Ann was an avid ballroom dancer for over 30 years.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Robert C. (Kathy K.) Burns, Jr. of Greenville, Timothy L. (Darci) Burns of Greenville, Diann Lee of Greenville, and Connie Grant of Winchester, KY; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a sister, Charlotte L. Kane of Greenville.

Services will be held Thursday, April 7, at 10 a.m. at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Greenville with Fr. R. James Larsen officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

Sandra S. Nakamura, 69, of Greenville, was called to Heaven, Saturday, April 2, 2011, from Wayne Healthcare in Greenville.

She was born April 27, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of the late Roy Sunday and Dorothy (Miller) Kluhsman.

A homemaker, she had worked as a medical biller in California prior to moving back to retire in Greenville.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Walter M. Nakamura, whom she married on May 8, 1975; children, Bill (Sue) Hixenbaugh of Portland, IN, Pennie Baker, Ruth Hixenbaugh and James Nakamura all of Greenville; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a brother, Bill Sunday of Riverside, OH.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 7, at 1 p.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, with Rev. Joe Soley officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

Clara K. Hart, age 91 of Union City, Ohio passed away on Friday April 1, 2011 at 7:16 PM at her residence she was born February 24, 1920 in Spencerville, Ohio the daughter of the late Clarence & Hazel (Ralston) Patterson. She worked at Sheller-Globe/Hardy Manufacturing. She was a member of the Triumphant Christian Center.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Husband: Richard Hart; Son: Billy Joe Gahret; Daughter: Judith Worthen; Sister: Edith Patterson; Brothers: Carl & Richard Patterson; Brother in law: Ted Rohr; Sister in law: Betty Patterson.

Gerry Brown (April 1, 2011)

Gerry Brown, 88, of Arcanum died Friday, April 1, 2011 at Wayne Hospital, Greenville. Mrs. Brown was born in Greenville, October 31, 1922, the daughter of the late James and Lucile (Haines) Jackson. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and a former member of the Faith United Methodist Sunnyside Group. She was a former beautician and nurses aid at the Brethren Retirement Community. Survived by her husband Ivan D. Brown whom she married June 9, 1946; Daughter Linda Milo and husband Douglas of Bethel Park, PA; Son Dr. Larry Brown of Orlando, FL; 5 Grandchildren Mark Milo and wife Valerie, Bryan Milo, Lindsey Kurtz and husband Chris, Lauren Brown, and Dean Brown; Brother Donald Jackson and wife Sheri of Apollo Beach, FL. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM on Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Faith United Methodist Church, Arcanum with Rev Tom Hite officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery. Lois E. Snyder (March 31, 2011)

Lois E. Snyder, age 92, a longtime resident of Greenville, Ohio went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2011 at 7:05 PM at the Brethren Retirement Medical Center where she had resided since November 2010.

She was born May 4, 1918 and raised in Jamestown, North Dakota. She was the daughter of the late Ernest A. and Emma A. (Folski) Stuart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry Harr Snyder in 1980. They were married in 1943. Also by her siblings, Madalyn Castien of Whittier, CA; Evelyn Soulis of Jamestown, ND and Russell T. Stuart of Fargo, ND.

Lois is survived by her youngest sibling, LaVerne Stewart and niece Jamie Stewart both of St. George, UT and her nephew Jay Stewart of Boulder City, NV. She will be greatly missed by the over 300 children that she lovingly cared for over 47 years, their families, her close friends and her beloved cats.

Prior to her child care career, Lois worked for the Department of Agriculture in North Dakota as an auditor. She was a charter member of Christ Church and presently a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church, both of Greenville.

Lois loved the Lord, noting her favorite passage was, “Be thou faithful until death and I will give thee a crown of life.”

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday April 4, 2011 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with the Rev. Elwood Stuart officiating. Burial will follow on the Snyder family plot at the Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, Ohio. The viewing will be held on Monday April 4, 2011 from 12 noon until time of the services in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be given to the Trinity Wesleyan Church of Greenville.
