John W. Noggle (February 23, 2014)

John W. Noggle, 95, of Economy, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2014 at Rose Bud Village in Richmond, Indiana. John was born on July 18, 1918 in Darke County, Ohio to the late William D. and Susie A. (Brandenburg) Noggle.

John worked at Belden as a machine operator during his life. He enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting and carpentry. John served our country faithfully in the United States Army as a staff sergeant where he was honorably discharged.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Fort) Noggle, a brother and a sister.

A private graveside service was held in Greenmound Cemetery on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 with the Rev. Eric Fee officiating. Family request memorial contributions be made, Reid Hospice in Richmond Indiana in honor of John.

Margery (Bennett) Banks (February 22, 2014)

Margery (Bennett) Banks, age 97, of Grand Blanc, Michigan and formerly of Yorkshire, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 7:25 AM at Gentiva Hospice in Flint, Michigan. She was born on July 14, 1916 in Mercer County, Ohio, to the late Vermont H. & Laura V. (Monroe) Bennett.

She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, John & Linda Banks of Fenton, MI and Fred & Janet Banks of Versailles; grandchildren, Eric (Lois Wilson) Banks, Joyce (Fred Gilmore) Banks, Kimberly (Steve) Wilcox and Kevin (Mia) Banks; great grandchildren, Leah, Elisa, Joshua Wilcox, Sullivan & Everett Gilmore and Samuel Banks; sister, Helen Stemm of Springfield, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Banks; sisters, Ruth Birt and Lucile Birt Pattison and brothers, Glenn & Dwight Bennett.

Margery was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Willowdell. She was a housewife as well as worked at the Post Office in Yorkshire.

There will be a service held on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 9464 Foote Rd., (Willowdell) Yorkshire, Ohio, with Pastor Laura Shreffler officiating. Burial will follow in the Willowdell Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 5-8 PM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio, as well as from 10:00-10:30 at church on Friday.

James B. Shiverdecker (February 23, 2014)

James B. Shiverdecker, 80, of Greenville, passed away Sunday morning, February 23, 2014, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

He was born October 2, 1933 in Greenville, son of the late Charles and Nellie (Henkaline) Shiverdecker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Thurman and Imogene Shiverdecker.

Jim had served his Lord in many capacities. He was retired from Hobart/Whirlpool where he had worked for 42 years. He was a member of the Greenville Church of the Nazarene, a veteran of the US Army, and his favorite lifetime hobby of fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marlene (Swallow) Shiverdecker, whom he married March 2, 1952; children, Bevin (Donna) Shiverdecker of Mt. Vernon, OH, Melina (Larry) Eberst of Greenville, and Joel (Julie) Shiverdecker of Indian Trail, NC; grandchildren, Kelsi (Tim) Tomayko, Kelly Shiverdecker, Adam Shiverdecker, and a step granddaughter, Chris (Paul) Nehring.

Private services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at a later date with burial to follow in the Brock Cemetery.

There will be no public visitation. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Greenville Church of the Nazarene.

Frank Hugh Rust (February 22, 2014)

Frank Hugh Rust, age 66, of Troy, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 22, 2014.

He was born in New Castle, Indiana on March 27, 1947. He was the son of the late Doris L. Rust and Norman G. Rust. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Larry Rust, of Huntington, Indiana.

Frank is survived by his wife of 13 years, Jan (Sluterbeck) Rust, brother Garry Rust (Debi) of Carolina Beach, NC and sister Judy Gibson (Jim) of Indianapolis, Indiana. Daughter Heather Stephens (Chuck), stepdaughters Misty McCabe, Sidney, Ohio, Kelly Rutherford (Chris) of Nicholasville, Kentucky and Angie Chronister (Kirt) of Tipp City, Ohio, nephews Ben and Simeon Rust and Bryan Heath Rust, grandchildren Mackenzie & Cierra Stephens, Cora Hernandez, Cameron and Sabrina Rutherford and Ben and Maddie Chronister and numerous
other relatives and friends.

Frank graduated from New Castle High School in 1965 and attended Valparaiso University on a football scholarship, completing his degree in business at Glenville College in 1985.

Frank was a member of the Greenville Elks Lodge and a proud member of the PGA of America.

He was currently club pro at Cassell Hills Golf Course in Vandalia, Ohio and girls’ golf coach at Vandalia Butler High School for the past 4 years. Previously, Frank also coached girls’ golf for 8 years at Greenville High School and was employed at Greenville Country Club as an assistant pro. Frank dedicated his life to his passion for golf and the love of the game.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday February 28, 2014 at 11 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio With Rev. Eric Fee officiating. Family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio and for 1 hour prior to Services on Friday at the funeral home.

Keith Bryan Kesselring (February 18, 2014)

Keith Bryan Kesselring, age 55 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Bradenton, Florida went to be with the Lord at 11:43 P.M. Tuesday February 18, 2014 in the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center Greenville, Ohio. He was born September 21, 1958 in Covington, Kentucky, son of Thomas (Gladys Bowman) Kesselring of Greenville and the late Mildred (Havens) Kesselring.

He was a 1976 graduate of Greenville High School where he loved playing football. He also had a love for fishing. Keith was the former owner and operator of Kesselring Construction in Bradenton, Florida and had worked for several Ohio companies.

In addition to his father, Keith is survived by his children, Dalton Thomas Kesselring and Karly Renee Kesselring both living with their mother in Bradenton, Florida; sisters Kathleen (John) Schmidt of Greenville, Ohio and Deborah (Dave) Griebel of Westland, Michigan; sister in law Patti (Greg) Whitsett; nieces and nephews Dawn (William) Powell, Melissa (Mark) Frasier, Corey (Kristen) Schmidt, Jeffery (Lindsay) Kesselring, Allison (Vince) Saulnier, 8 great nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and numerous cousins

In addition to his mother, Keith was preceded in death by his brother Daniel Kesselring; brother in law Richard Yelinek and nephew Thomas Yelinek.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday March 1, 2014 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Rev. George Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until time of the service in the funeral home.

Robert F. “Bob” Voigt (February 18, 2014)

Robert F. “Bob” Voigt, of Greenville, passed away late Tuesday evening, February 18, 2014 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL after a two year battle with Myelo Fibrosis and kidney failure.

He retired from Fram Corporation after 43 years, many of those years as a welding fabricator. He was especially proud of being named on a US Patent for developing a method for introducing PTFE into a spin-on filter. He had also operated Voigt Welding. In his retirement years he enjoyed helping Bill Roll at auctions. He held a private pilot license, and enjoyed riding his recumbent bicycle on the rail trails and playing golf in Florida.

Bob had grown up in Ansonia and was a member of the Ansonia Class of 1960 graduating class.

He was a member of the Ft. Jefferson United Methodist church, the Greenville Elk’s Lodge, and the Darke County Fish and Game Club.

He leaves to mourn, his wife of 50 years, Carol (Flory) Voigt; two children, Janelle (Voigt) Cross and husband Steve Cross of Greenville, and son, Robert Ernest Voigt and Elizabeth Trocheck of Lakeland, FL; a brother, Charles Voigt of Celina; a sister, Connie (Voigt) Boyd and husband Marvin Boyd of Greenville; his mother-in-law, Audrey Flory of Greenville; grandchildren, Joe Cross, Sam Cross, Connor Voigt, and Bradley and Valerie Trocheck; brothers-and sisters-in-laws, Jim and Nancy Doseck, and Larry and Connie Flory all of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him death were his parents, Ernest H. and Ethel Pauline (Harlan) Voigt, and his father-in-law, Russell Flory.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Doug Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Ft. Jefferson.

Tim King, age 47, Crete, IL, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 9:19 PM at his residence. He was born on April 17, 1966 in Greenville, Ohio, to Pat & Donna (Puterbaugh) King of Greenville, Ohio.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his sisters and brother in law, Brenda (Jay) Chrisman of Arcanum, Ohio, and Judy (Jerry Hinshaw) King of Arcanum, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Tailor, Lucas and Colby Chrisman and Jessica Hinshaw; and grandmother, Jewell Puterbaugh of Arcanum, Ohio.

Tim worked as an electrical engineer for Robertson Worldwide in Blue Island, IL.

Peggy Ruth (Case) Hipshire (February 19, 2014)

Peggy Ruth (Case) Hipshire, 77 of Union City, OH went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the Rest Haven Nursing home in Greenville, OH.

Peggy was born in Byington, TN on February 4th, 1937, a daughter of the late Clarence and Reba (Stephens) Case.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John E. Hipshire, two brothers, Sam and Clarence Case Jr., a sister, Bertha Eldridge and two granddaughters, Jamie (Hipshire) Johnston and Casey Hipshire.

She left behind a sister, Anna Lee (Case) Carpenter of Knoxville, TN, 7 children, Johnny "Alvin" (Pam) Hipshire, Pamela (Ben) Lux, Clarence (Nancy) Hipshire, Adina Hipshire, Laura (the late David) Bartlett, Joe (Elsie) Hipshire and Jeff (the late Ingrid) Hipshire. She was also blessed with 21 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson.

Peggy spent her years as a loving wife, mother and friend to all who knew her. She raised 4 strong sons and 3 beautiful daughters and was very active in all of her grandchildren’s lives.

Friends are invited to call Sunday, February 23, from 2 PM to 4 PM at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home at 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH 45331.

Donald A. Pouder age 87, of Union City, Ohio passed away at 5:08 P.M. on Monday, February 17, 2014 at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. Donald was born June 1, 1926 in Union City, Ohio to the late Jacob Murray & Edith (Harmeson) Pouder.

Donald is survived by a son, Mike Pouder of Union City, Ohio and special friend of the family, Margaret Mote of Union City, Indiana; daughter & son-in-law, Karen & Randy Abel of Union City, Ohio; grandchildren, Elizabeth & Ryan Benroth of South Carolina, Joshua Abel of Union City, Ohio, Jacob Abel of Union City, Ohio, Abby Abel of Union City, Ohio and Staci Kohn of Union City, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Logan; brother, Chester Pouder of Union City, Ohio; sister, Bernettia Kester of Union City, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Donald is also preceded in death by his wife, Velma G. (Martin) Pouder on January 25, 2006 whom he married December 25, 1949; son, Jeff Pouder; infant daughter, Joyce Elaine Pouder; and brother, Gerald M. Pouder.

Donald was a life long farmer. He was a member of Hillgrove Federated Church.

William "Bill" L. Sloboda (February 11, 2014)

William "Bill" L. Sloboda, 73, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2014 at State of the Heart Hospice Unit in Greenville. Bill was born on June 1, 1940 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Louis and Elizabeth (Buck) Sloboda.

Bill retired from General Motors in 1991 and after retirement he went to work for Smedley's in the sales department. He had a degree in Sociology and Business Administration from Wright State University. Bill was a member of the SASS (Single Action Shooting Society), St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a Kentucky Colonial. He loved to hunt, Fish, spend time house boating and spending time with family.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his first wife, Sherri Sloboda in January of 1993 and his son, Steve Sloboda in February 2000.

Bill is survived by his wife Pam (Conover) Sloboda; daughters, Tracie and Chuck Parsons of Indianapolis, Indiana and Sue and Nathan Smith of Atlanta Georgia; grandchildren, Alexis Parsons, Adam and Courtney Summers, Kevin Summers, Matthew Sloboda, Magan SlobodaLauren Schatsley, Yannick Smith and Nathan Smith Jr.; a sister, Gail and John Robinson of Clayton, Ohio.

A celebration of life open house will be held on March 2, 2014 from 2-4 pm at Chappys, Bar and Grille, 2733 W Alex Bell Rd, Moraine, OH 45459. She was born March 27, 1914 in Red River, Ohio the daughter of the late John Earl & Daisy Amanda (Wion) Fenstermaker. She worked as a Nurses Aid at the Greenville Hospital for 20 years retiring in 1984. She was a member of First United Methodist Church; Greenville Area Senior Citizens.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: James Young; grandson: Shawn Dohme; brothers: Lawrence, Doyle, & John Fenstermaker; sisters: Iona Anthony, Lucille Baker.

Patricia Lavonne (Krick) “Wetzel” Good (February 17, 2014)

Patricia Lavonne (Krick) “Wetzel” Good, age 85 passed away peacefully at home among family and friends on Monday February 17, 2014. She was born August 7, 1928 to the late Walter E. and Lula B. (Wilkey) Krick.

She was also preceded in death by her husband William F. “Fred” Wetzel November 11, 1962 and husband Wesley J. “Jim” Good on April 17, 1986.

Lavonne was a Corning Retiree and a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Women of the Moose all of Greenville and participated in various bridge clubs.

Lavonne will always be remembered as a loving and cheerful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to those who knew her.

Lavonne is survived by Doyle L. Mills, to whom she was married in the face of God on November 26, 1997; a son Douglas A. (Annette) Wetzel of Owensboro, Kentucky; step children Michael R. (Bonnie) Good of Greenville; Melinda L. Weaver of Colon, Michigan; Mark A. (Denise) Good of Greenville; Scott L. (Janice) Mills of Greenville and Vicki (John) Serna of Greenfield, Indiana. Granddaughters Langley Wetzel and Larkin Wetzel; step grandchildren Brian (Barbara Arnold) Good, Jason (Melissa) Good, Nathan (Cala) Weaver, Jody (Tyler) Stump, Janelle (Keith) Koverman, Tina (Bill) Van Bebber, Mark Alexander, Laurie Alexander, Kevin (Leslie) Alexander, Steve (Matohya Sowry) Mills, and Ann (Johnny Fults) Mills; her sister and best friend Janice (Lowell “Bud”) House of Greenville as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Kenneth H. Gragorace, age 62 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Monday February 17, 2014 at 2:42 AM at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. He was born January 25, 1952 in Youngstown, Ohio the son of the late Joseph & Mary (Mauerman) Gragorace. He Served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Henny Penny and had worked for Corning Glass Inc for 21 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Son: Vincent Anthony Gragorace; Brothers: Robert, Donald, John, & Frank Gragorace.

James Jay Kreitzer, age 73 of Palestine, Ohio passed away at 1:10 A.M. Monday February 17, 2014 in the Brethren Retirement Community Greenville, Ohio. Jim was born December 16, 1940 in Darke County, Ohio and the son of the late George W. and Mary M. (Lindamood) Kreitzer.

Jim was a member of the U.S. Army serving from 1963 until 1965. He was retired after 23 years of employment from the Union City Body Company and a member of the Palestine Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Bennie K. Kreitzer May 15, 2013.

He is survived by a sister Zoeann Stephan of North Star, sister in law Sue Kreitzer of Palestine, 3 nephews, 2 nieces and his aunt Irene Keller of Greenville.

The Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Thursday February 20, 2014 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Mike Simmons officiating. James H. “Jim” Riffle (February 16, 2014)

James H. “Jim” Riffle, age 77, of Ansonia, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 6:10 AM at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on March 24, 1936 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Ronald H. “Steenie” & Edna (Rolfe) Riffle.

He is survived by his wife Kay (Wilson) Riffle of Ansonia, Ohio, whom he married on January 20, 1955, sons and daughters in law, Dean & Pam Riffle of Dayton, Ohio, and Daryl & Mary Riffle of Ansonia, Ohio; daughter and son in law, Denise & Jeff Gayer of Sullivan, Ohio; grandchildren, Shawn Riffle, Shannon Riffle, Nathan (Laurel) Riffle, Chase Riffle, Adam (Jessica) Riffle, Andrew Riffle, Abby Gayer and Luke Gayer; 6 great grandchildren; brother Dale Riffle of Greenville; sisters and brothers in law, Ruby & Junior Coby of Greenville, Linda Wood of Ansonia, Ohio, and Leon Stump of Ft. Recovery, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Union City, Indiana, had served as an Ansonia Jaycee, Ansonia Village Council Member and Grace Lutheran Church Council Member. He was an antique collector, mainly collecting farm tractors and HO Scale Model Trains. He was a 1954 graduate of Ansonia High School and he served as the Senior class president. He worked at Hardy’s in Union City, Ullery Dairy in Greenville, and Dairy Maid in Greenville before becoming a self-employed milk distributor in 1968 until he retired. After retirement he worked part-time at Moodys Gas Station in Ansonia.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother and sisters in law, Ronnie & Naomi Riffle and Pat Riffle; sisters and brothers in law, Marjorie & Dwight Byram, Mildred & Eldon Lanich, Doris & Delmer Mikesell, Jean Stump, Jim Smith and Ralph Wood.

There will be a service held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1470 State Route 28, Union City, IN, with Pastor Gill Krouse officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 4-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, as well as one hour prior to the service at church.

Bonnie K. Jones (February 14, 2014)

Bonnie K. Jones, 72, of New Paris, Ohio passed away on February 14, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital. Bonnie was born on August 12, 1941 in Richmond, Indiana to the late Edwin E. and Mary Jo (Shelley) Leas.

In her earlier years, Bonnie was an LPN at Miami Valley Hospital. She then worked for many years as a cafeteria cook in the National Trail School system. Bonnie was a long time member at Prices Creek Church of the Brethren. She was a deaconess and very active in many church activities. In her free time, Bonnie loved to play on the computer, read Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books, but most of all she loved going camping. Bonnie also had many collections. She collected cookbooks, material and butterflies.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband to whom she was married for 46 years, William A. Jones, Sr. in 2010.

Bonnie is survived by her son, Bill Jones and his fiancé, Heather Reynolds of New Madison; a daughter and son in law, Krystal and Kenneth Ring of Muncie, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Kassandra Ring and her fiancé, Patrick Hudson of Milford, Ohio, Kenneth III and Lora Ring of Centerville, Indiana, Kathryn Ring of Muncie, Indiana, Kristopher Ring of Muncie, Indiana, Ashley Banis, Courtney Banis, Katherine Banis, Lauren Banis, and Micheal Banis all of New Madison; a great grandson on the way; a brother and sister in law, Dr. Edwin E. Jr. and Fanny Leas of Eaton; a sister and brother in law, Joellen and Lou Driggs of Eaton; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Prices Creek Church of the Brethren with Pastor Don King officiating. Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 3-7 pm also at the church. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery. Franklin Guthrie Rhoades (February 14, 2014)

Franklin Guthrie Rhoades, age 93, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 7:00 AM at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. He was born on February 5, 1921 in Ansonia, Ohio, to the late Chester Rhoades and Florence (Guthrie) Wright.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Ann (Wallace) Rhoades of Greenville, Ohio, as well as his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, step children and step grandchildren.

Frank retired as a Colonel after 30 years in the United States Air Force. He was pilot, pilot instructor and served during the Berlin Airlift as well as the Vietnam War. He was a 72 year member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge #143 and the former Ansonia Masonic Lodge #488. Also was a member of Antioch Shrine, Dayton and the Darke County Shrine Club. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW of Greenville. He loved woodworking, riding motorcycles, big band music and playing the organ and trumpet. After graduating from high school he played the trumpet for a dance band before starting his career in the United States Air Force.

The Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be conducting a service on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 2:30 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with a Masonic Memorial Service conducted by the Greenville Masonic Lodge immediately following the military service. There will be a private burial held at the convenience of the family in the Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 2:00-2:30 PM at the funeral home.

Harold E. Asterman age 92, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:25 P.M. on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Heartland of Greenville. Harold was born December 13, 1921 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Marvin & Sadie (Flory) Asterman.

Harold is survived by his wife, Naomi Grace (Ross) Asterman whom he married January 11, 1943; son & daughter-in-law, Randy & Valna Asterman of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Brian & Lynnette Trent, Mark Trent, Julie & Jeremy Fisher, Ross Asterman and JB & Kelly Asterman; great-grandchildren, Brittany Trent, Ryan Trent, Chase Trent and Jessica Whittaker; great-great grandson, Rage Miller; brother & sister-in-law, Richard & Joan Asterman of Florida; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harold is also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Trent; and a step grandson, Greg L. “Wilbur” Trent.

Harold served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He is a retired farmer and truck driver. Harold was a member of East Main Church of Christ in Greenville; Greenville D.A.V.; Greenville American Legion; Greenville V.F.W. and was past trustee of the Fraternal Order of Police.

L. Dean Myers (February 6, 2014)

L. Dean Myers, age 82 of Pitsburg, Ohio passed away at 4:00 P.M. Thursday February 6, 2014 in the Miami Valley Hospital Dayton, Ohio. Dean was born August 18, 1931 in Darke County, Ohio and the son of the late Raphael and Opal (Troutwine) Myers.

He was retired as the Clerk of the Franklin Township Trustees, a position he held for 43 years, also from American Airlines and had farmed for many years in the Franklin Township area.

Dean was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Arcanum, Pitsburg Lions Club, and the Darke County Zoning Board and enjoyed going fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Madonna Niswonger.

Dean is survived by his wife Barbara “Bobbie” (Weherley) Myers of Pitsburg. They were married September 30, 1951. Also his children Scott (Debra) Myers of Pitsburg, Kent (Melinda) Myers of Greenville, Kim (Anita) Myers of Pitsburg and Kami (Dave) Horner of Pitsburg. Grandchildren Dustin (Shellie) Myers, Troy (Alisa McClannan) Myers, Trevor (Katie) Myers, Kip (Kelli Sexton) Myers, Jason (Julie) Willis, Kyle (Kassie Garber) Myers, Tyler (Chelsea) Myers, Madison Myers, Jaden Horner, Marcus Horner and Rayna Horner. Great grandchildren Grady Myers, Dalton Myers, Tenley Myers, Brady Willis, Casey Willis and Eli Willis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Marvin T. Bowers (January 29, 2014)

Marvin T. Bowers, 82, of Greenville and formerly of New Madison, passed away on January 29, 2014 at his residence. Marvin was born on June 20, 1931 in New Madison, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Melissa Lucinda (Charles) Bowers.

Marvin retired in 1985 from Inland Manufacturing ”General Motors”. He was a member of EUM Church in Greenville, American Legion Post # 245, Greenville Masonic Lodge #143 and also a 32nd degree Mason of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton. Marvin enjoyed spending his free time gardening.

Marvin is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Irene (Benjamin) Bowers on May 28, 2012; four brothers, Pete, Harold, Bob, and Joe Bowers; four sisters, Edith Bowers, Judy Klopfer, Doris Longnecker and Carol Sue Bowers.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are two sons, Michael Bowers of Denver, Colorado and David Bowers of Green Mountain Falls, Colorado; a daughter, Melinda Bowers of Denver, Colorado; three grandsons, Benjamin Petrila Bowers of Denver, Colorado, Gregory Allan Bowers of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Ethan Thomas Bowers of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a brother and sister in law, Donald and Mary Bowers of Greenville; two sisters and brothers in law, Ruth and Von Spitzer of Versailles and Jean and Gene Knox of New Paris; and his beloved cat, Miss Kitty.

Lyda was a homemaker and Office Manager for 30 years for Spitler Insurance Agency, retiring in 1994. She was also a member of the Highland Brethren in Christ Church of West Milton, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dwight W. Spitler July 3, 1991; daughter in law Kim Spitler; Sister Ruth Karr and Brother Pete Johnson.

Janice E. Schellhase (January 29, 2014)

Janice E. Schellhase, age 59, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 12:14 P.M. on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at her residence. She was the loving wife of Robert Schellhase for 30 years, mother, and grandmother (Nana), and friend to those who knew her. She was born on September 28, 1954 to the late Donald and Mary Ann (Subler) Berger.

Janice’s happiest times were when she was with her family and friends. She loved boating, gardening, being active outside, home decorating and entertaining. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, employed by the Dannon Co., and was a proud survivor of Breast Cancer.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons: Nicholas and Amber (Borchers) Schellhase, Versailles, OH; Christopher Schellhase, Columbus, OH; and Joshua Schellhase, Charleston, SC; and Grandchildren: Blair and Grady Schellhase.

Janice is also survived by sisters, brothers and in-laws: Kathy and David Hill, Tampa Bay, FL; David Berger, Troy, OH; Denise and Michael Case, Columbus, OH; Kevin Berger, Troy, OH; Donna and Michael Lairmore, Davis, CA; Dianne and Chip Wells, Sidney, OH; Suzanne and Doug Plank, Beaufort, SC; Stephen Schellhase, MD.

She is preceded in death by in-laws Carl and Rebecca Schellhase and brother-in-law James Schellhase.

Marjorie(Marge)Carolyn Wolford, age 79, went home to be with our Lord Jesus on Saturday January 25, 2014 while at home with her husband and daughter.

Marge was born on July 20, 1934 in Portland, Indiana, to the late August and Alice Nierman. She was truly a blessing to all who knew her and will be greatly missed but we take comfort knowing she is in heaven.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Lauren Easton.

Marge is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Don Wolford of Virginia Beach, formerly of Greenville, Ohio, daughters Lucinda Schick of Virginia Beach, and Melinda (Jerry) Ruhl of Cartersville, GA, and son Michael (Debbie) Wolford of Las Vegas, NV, nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Donna Rife age 84, of Arcanum, Ohio passed away at 12:12 A.M. on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville. Donna was born June 30, 1929 in New Madison, Ohio to the late Earl & Mary (Rhoades) Royer.

Donna is survived by her husband of 66 years, Marvin D. Rife whom she married August 2, 1947; daughter, Connie LaVeris of Vandalia; grandchildren, Tim Roberts of Cincinnati, Jason LaVeris of Los Angeles, California and Corey & Khayla LaVeris of Columbus; brother & sister-in-law, Waldo & Pat Royer of New Madison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donna retired from Flaig Lumber in New Madison where she was a bookkeeper for 30 years. Donna was a member of Beech Grove Church of the Brethren in Hollansburg.
