Joan E. (Cole) Clark (May 24, 2014)

Joan E. (Cole) Clark, 86 of Palestine, Ohio passed away on Saturday May 24, 2014 at 6:03 PM at the Sterling House Clare Bridge, Greenville, Ohio. She was born September 12, 1927 in Palestine, Ohio the daughter of the late Carl C. & Eco L. (Rolfe) Cole. She was a teacher at New Madison Schools and Greenville City Schools.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister: Phyllis Dubbs; brother: Ben Cole; son in law: Lyle Moss.

She is survived by her husband: Fred C. Clark of Greenville; daughters & son in law: Jennifer & Tom Bish of Greenville, Cathy Moss of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren: Kelly Herzog, Elizabeth Laffan, Clark Moss, & Robert Moss; 7 great grandchildren.

Wilma A. McKibben Rhoades (May 24, 2014)

Wilma A. McKibben Rhoades, age 87, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away May 24, 2014 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.

Wilma was born February 3, 1927, in Greenville, a daughter of the late Lowell and Catherine (Urschel) Lephart.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul McKibben in 1987 and William D. Rhoades in 2013; a grandson, Justin McKibben; brothers, Elwood and Creighton Lephart; and a sister, Marilyn Peck.

Wilma was a member of the EUM Church, belonged to the United Methodist Women (UMW), was the secretary for the County Engineers office and volunteered at the hospital. Her compassion and depth of caring always showed through her work and charity.

Wilma is survived by her children, Frank (Donna) McKibben of Moberly, MO, Tim (Sylvia) McKibben of Greenville, OH, and Karen (Nathan) Sharp of Greenville, OH; step children, Kathy (George) O’Dell, Cindy (Bruce) Hunt, Alyce Ann (Bruce Hirsch), Dick (Pam) Rhoades, Chris (Jan) Rhoades, and Doug (Leslie) Rhoades, all of Greenville, OH. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, Melissa (Ben) Williams of Moberly, MO, Jason (Kelly) McKibben of Raleigh, NC, Brian (Erin) McKibben of Greenville, OH, Carrie McKibben of Covington, Ohio, David McKibben of Dayton, OH, Katie Sharp of Greenville, OH and Ryan Sharp of Columbus, OH, and 5 great grandchildren; Sisters, Vanis (John) Brumbaugh of Greenville, OH and Kaye Oglivie of Prairie Grove, AR.

Services will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Oliver-Floyd funeral Home with Rev. Sylvia McKibben officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 – 7PM and Thursday from 9 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contribution may be made to the EUM Church to go towards a new cross for the original sanctuary.

Gerald J. Greer, age 83, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away May 25, 2014 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

He was born December 1, 1930 in Darke County, OH, a son of the late Perry & Laura (Shafer) Greer.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Arthur, Chester, Robert, Everett, Sam and Charles Greer; and 3 sisters, Thelma Greer, Mabel Schneider and Mary Duvall.

Gerald was a member of the Greenville Eagles, Greenville American Legion and was active with the Greenville Color Guard. He was an avid sports fan but especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports for Ansonia and Tri Village schools.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Mary (Crawford) Greer, whom he married May 8, 1955; 2 children, Candy (Jeff) Stump of Ansonia, OH, and Ginger (Kelly) Thomas of New Madison, OH; 5 grandchildren, Jay (Cheryl Harleman) Schricker, Darcy (Shane) Buckingham, Tyler (Jody) Stump, Tara (Nathan) Ford and Kylie (Jeremy Doolin) Thomas; 9 great grandchildren, Holden Long, Kiersten Schricker, Clay, Nick, Hunter and Madyson Buckingham, Brooke and Andrew Stachler and Dylan Stump; 1 great-great grandchild, Kayden Buckingham and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Oliver-Floyd funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 – 7PM at the funeral home.

Rev. Thelma Lois (Pilcher) Scott (May 23, 2014)

Rev. Thelma Lois (Pilcher) Scott, 97, of Lynn, Indiana passed away peacefully at her residence on May 23, 2014. Thelma was born on October 1, 1916 in Wayne County, Indiana to the late Clarence and Serena (Johnson) Pilcher.

Thelma was a house wife up until her husband passed away and she became a United Methodist Pastor from 1973 - 1992 when she retired. She enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, preaching and serving others. She loved being a stay at home mom and spending time with her family. One of her fondest memories was when she was able to take a trip to the Holy Land with the help of her District.

In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, James M. Scott, Sr. who passed in 1973; a sister, Eunice Bringman; two brothers, Edwin Pilcher and Herbert Pilcher; two grandsons, a granddaughter, Serena Chancey and great granddaughter, Falyn Scott.

Thelma is survived by four sons, James and Evelyn Scott, David and Linda Scott, Jerry and Carol Scott and Ron and Judy Scott all of Richmond, Indiana; two daughters, Sharon and James Funkhouser of Lancaster, Ohio and Cathy Kildow of Lynn Indiana; twenty nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and one brother, Alfred and Violet Pilcher of Englewood.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM att Peaceful Valley Church, 5518 S. 500 East, Lynn, Indiana, with Rev. Charlie Crouch officiating. Burial will follow in the Willow Grove Cemetery, Fountain City, Indiana. Family and friends may visit from 9 - 11 AM prior to the service also at the church. She was born August 28, 1921 in Darke County, Ohio the daughter of the late Harold A. & Olive (Dull) Withrow Sr. She was a Legal Secretary for Spidel Staley Hole Hanes Law Group. She was a member of Nashville United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Harold V. Deeter whom she married October 4, 1941; sister: Helen W. Geddes; brother: Harold “Tom” A. Withrow Jr.

She is survived by her children and spouses: John & Lena Deeter of Greenville, Michael & Ann Deeter of Lima, Ohio, Susan A. & David Ratcliff of Plano, Texas, Robert E. Deeter of Greenville; numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren; sister: Jeanne Barr of Greenville; & numerous nieces & nephews.

Ronald Lee Lemar Jr., 56, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on May 21, 2014 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Ron was born on July 27, 1957 to Ronald L. Lemar Sr. and the late Frances A. (Amick) Lemar.

Ron worked for Monon Trailer for 17 years. He loved plants, flowers and any mechanical devices like engines etc. He leaves behind a family that loved him dearly.

Allyson M. Mescher, age 37, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on May 20, 2014 at 1:45 PM in Versailles, Ohio. She was born on August 23, 1976 in Coldwater, Ohio. She is the daughter of Carol (Mescher) Francis and Richard Francis of Versailles, Ohio.

In addition to her parents she is survived by her sisters and brothers in law, Julie & Matt Traver of Findlay, Ohio, and Carrie & Ken Schoen of Ft. Recovery, Ohio; brother and sister in law, Jeff & Angie Francis of Versailles, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Ethan, Owen, Ava, Ella and Nora Schoen, Anne Traver, and Kelsey, Ross and Collin Francis; grandmother, Sally Mescher of Versailles, Ohio; dog, Rocky; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Ralph Mescher and grandparents, Mary Jean & Ernest Wehrkamp.

Allyson was a member of the Eagles and St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles. She was an avid Michigan fan and also enjoyed watching the Browns and Reds. Allyson enjoyed playing softball where she was a member of the E & R’s team. Most of all Aunt Ally loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, 14 E. Wood St., Versailles, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. Jim Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio. Frances Jean (Fienning) Wilt, 89, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2014 at her residence. Frances was born on February 20, 1925 in Richmond, Indiana to the late Richard and Myrtle (Reynolds) Fienning.

Frances enjoyed crocheting and ceramics. She was an avid bowling and participating in a league for over 35 years. Most of all, Frances enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her first husband, Harold N. Hunt and a sister, Janet Gatzek.

Frances is survived by her husband, Kerlin F. Wilt; two sons, Bruce and Cindy Hunt of Greenville and Roger and Marcia Hunt of New Madison; a daughter, Karen and Roy Schipper of Sebring, Florida; a step son, Robert and Patricia Hunt of Port Charlotte, Florida; two step daughters, Roberta and Earl McIntosh of Richmond, Indiana and Sandy Wilt of South Bend, Indiana; eleven grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren; a brother, Daniel Fienning of Richmond, Indiana and two sisters, Wanda Mullin and Betty and Gary Coleman both of Richmond, Indiana.

He worked at Francis Manufacturing in Russia; was a member of East Zion Community Church; and loved working on old radios and small engines.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: George Elliott.

Carl H. “Chicken Man” Wooten age 84, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 1:20 P.M. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Heartland of Greenville. Carl was born June 25, 1929 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Robert & Orpha (Hall) Wooten.

Carl is survived by his wife, Anna Jean (Smith) Wooten whom he married January 22, 1977; children, Carol & Bob Robinson of Springboro, Deborah & Ralph Lowe of West Carrollton and David & Debbie Wooten of Dayton; step children, Jeffrey Barger of Greenville and Lisa Durbin of Greenville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Mae McCammon of Columbus and Lucille Thivener of Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Carl is also preceded in death by a son, Paul Wooten; and several brothers and sisters.

Carl retired from General Motors with 30 years of service.

Gary E. Gessler age 65, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 6:43 P.M. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in the E.R. at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville. Gary was born August 11, 1948 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Elwood & June (Kissinger) Gessler.

Gary is survived by a daughter & son-in-law, Tara & Chris Gilbert of Van Wert, Ohio; son, Shaun E. Gessler of Sagamore Hills, Ohio; granddaughters, McKenna Gilbert and Elizabeth Gilbert; ex-wife & special friend, Rebecca Gessler of Greenville; brother & sister-in-law, Alan & Karen Gessler of Greenville; sisters & brother-in-law, Twila & Kent Althouse of Tipp City, Ohio and Kay; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Gary formerly worked for the Pepsi Company in Greenville. He loved the outdoors, working in the yard, gardening, planting flowers and spending time with his two granddaughters.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Lowell Miller officiating. Mary Margaret Wade (May 13, 2014)

Mary Margaret Wade died at the age of 89 on May 13, 2014 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville, Ohio. Mrs. Wade was a longtime resident of Greenville. Though retired for many years now, she was a manager at Lawsons for several years before it closed. She enjoyed her later years cooking, and cherishing her many friends and her extended family, who lovingly called her "Mom" and "Grandma Mary."

Mrs. Wade is preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie and her mother, Berta Calvert Leach.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy of Greenville, and Pam of Lima, Ohio

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday May 16, 2014 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Mr. Scott Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday 1 hour prior to the services in the funeral home.

Loyal J. Jenkinson age 94, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 3:55 A.M. on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Loyal was born October 15, 1919 in Darke County, Ohio to the late George H. & Zona (Teegarden) Jenkinson.

Loyal is survived by a daughter & son-in-law, Sandra Lee & Richard Gardner of Sun City West, Arizona; grandchildren, Michael Gardner, Jennifer Elias and Susan Aurand; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Loyal is also preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn E. (Riegle) Jenkinson on July 29, 2011 whom he married April 20, 1939; and a brother, Abram T. Jenkinson.

Loyal served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired in 1981 from Detroit Tap & Tool where he was a machinist for 32 years.

Homer Benjamin Hodges, age 89, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 2:45 PM at the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville, Ohio. He was born on April 1, 1925 in Wirtz, Virginia, to the late Price & Lena (Sink) Hodges.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Ronald David (Mieko) Hodges of Okinawa, Japan, Robert (Rita) Lawrence of Troy, OH, Karen Lawrence of Greenville, OH, Glenna (Joe) Martin of Greenville, OH, Jeff Hodges of Columbus, OH, Tim Hodges of Union City, OH, Teresa Hodges of New Lebanon, OH, and Benjamin (Nicole) Hodges of Tampa, FL; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters and brother in law, Marceda Duffy of Bradford, OH, Marguerite Sealanders of Covington, OH, and Betty (Bill) Jones of Clarksville, TN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Della I. (Lawrence) Hodges; daughters in law, Katie Hodges and Colleen (Collins) Hodges; brother, George Hodges and sister, Eudoxie Bishop.

Homer retired from Hobart manufacturing and was a member of the United States Army serving in WWII. He was a member of the Moose lodge and Eagles in Indian Lake, Ohio. He loved playing bingo, fishing and spending time with her kids and grandkids.

There will be a service held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Brethren Retirement Community Chapel with Pastor Bill Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery, Alger, Ohio at 4:00 PM on Monday. Family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the service at the Brethren Retirement Community Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Janet Kay (Shroyer) Hunt, age 60, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at her residence. She was born on August 10, 1953 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Robert “Bob” & Dorothy Jean (Klipstine) Shroyer.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Hunt of Greenville, Ohio, whom she married on July 27, 1974; daughters and sons in law, Julie & Kevin Stringer of Kettering, Ohio, Amy & Justin Schoen of Greenville, and Heather Hunt of Greenville; grandchildren, Kennedy & Emily Schoen and Aiden, Nolan, & Adalyn Stringer; twin sister and brother in law, Joann & Bob Nelson of Greenville, sisters and brothers in law, Judy Voiles of Greenville, Janie & Butch Clark of Bradford; brother and sister in law, Mike & Sue Shroyer of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother in law, Tom Voiles and mother in law, Dorothy Hunt.

Janet was a 1971 graduate of Greenville High School. She graduated from Good Samaritan School of Radiology where she received the Mallinckrodt award for outstanding performance. She was an X-Ray Technician for Good Samaritan Hospital Dayton, Coshocton Hospital, Wayne HealthCare and AGA Health Care. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville. Janet loved cooking but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

There will be a service held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.

Steven E. Nealeigh (May 6, 2014)

Steven E. Nealeigh age 61, of Titusville, Florida and formerly of Darke County, Ohio passed away at 10:35 A.M. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Parish Memorial Hospital in Titusville, Florida. Steven was born February 26, 1953 in Darke County.

Steven is survived by his mother Evelyn J. (Durst) Nealeigh of Dayton, Ohio; brothers & sisters-in-law, Keith & Melanie Nealeigh of Greenville and Rodney & Christine Nealeigh of Bradford; sister, Kathy Nealeigh of Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and nurse-friend Stephanie Weaver and her son Ryan of Titusville, FL.

Steven is preceded in death by his father, William E. Nealeigh.

Steven was a substitute teacher at various schools in Darke County and coached at Franklin Monroe and summer baseball in Greenville. Steven was a 1971 graduate of Franklin Monroe High School, graduate of Sinclair Community College in Dayton and Wright State University in Dayton where he received his Masters Degree in Education. Steven played baseball at Franklin Monroe and Sinclair Community College until his accident on the baseball field. Steven was an avid Elvis Presley and Jeff Gordon fan.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Haworth officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery in Darke County. Mable Veree Wojciechowski (May 7, 2014)

Mable Veree Wojciechowski, 82, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

She was born May17, 1931 in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, a daughter of the late Albert and Lucy (Swartz) Quinn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylord Franklin Wojciechowski.

Mable was a beloved mother and grandmother and was an incredible cook and loved to care for her family. She is dearly missed.

She is survived by her children; Paula (Bob) Hymes, Ronda (Carl) Wright, Anita Goddard, all of Greenville, Ohio, and Evan Wojciechowski of Gettysburg, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Ebert (Barbara) Quinn, Paul (Nina) Quinn, John (Sharon) Quinn and Jack (Beverly) Quinn; 1 sister, Mary Alice “Biddy” (Elwood) Wojciechowski.

Services will be held Monday, May 12, at 10AM at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Chris Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Opal Maxine Lease (May 7, 2014)

Opal Maxine Lease, age 96 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday May 7, 2014 at the Brethren Retirement Community Greenville, Ohio.
She was born February 16, 1918 in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio to the late David and Mary (Taylor) Stager. She was a 1936 graduate of Franklin Township High School, Darke County, where her highlights were playing basketball, playing clarinet in the James Hopkins Orchestra, and being valedictorian of her class. She then earned the following degrees from Miami University: Diploma in Elementary Education in 1938, Bachelor of Science in Education in 1944, and Master of Education in 1962.

Opal was a lifelong educator who began her teaching career in Middletown, Ohio, serving 8 years as a 4th grade teacher. She then taught English and Physical Education for 8 years at Colonel White Junior High, in the Dayton Public School system, and one year in 3rd grade at Greenville North School before starting her family in 1956. She returned to education in 1964 teaching 6th grade at South School and serving as a guidance counselor for 16 years at Greenville Junior High, retiring in 1981. She initiated the special education, the OWA, and the gifted programs for Greenville Junior High.

Opal was baptized as a member of the Painter Creek Church of the Brethren and after marriage became a member of Wakefield Lutheran Church and then St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 25 years. She was a member of the Elite Club, Business and Professional Women’s Club, and the Darke County Retired Teachers Association, holding offices in each. In retirement she loved to square dance, create scrapbooks of family history, and sell fair tickets for the scholarship fund of BPW. She loved sports, lettering 4 years in basketball in high school, and was an enthusiastic fan of the Miami RedHawks and Cincinnati Reds.

She was married on December 28, 1949, to Clark Richard Lease, and has celebrated 64 years of marriage with her loving husband. Opal was preceded in death by her brother, Hollie William Stager. She is survived by her husband, Clark, two daughters, Deborah Lease of Oxford and Barbara (Jeff) Darkow of Avon Lake; three grandchildren, Sarah, Daniel, and James Darkow, a sister Louise Boli of Greenville and extended family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church 131 East Fourth St. Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday May 9, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio and on Saturday 1 hour prior to the services in the church.

Thomas C. Singer, age 85, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 8:26 PM at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio. He was born on May 11, 1928 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late August & Nina (Smith) Singer.

Tom is survived by his wife, Lois (Cameron) Singer of Greenville, Ohio, whom he married on September 12, 1953; son and daughter in law, Thomas A. & Pam Singer of Greenville; daughters and sons in law, Susan & Cliff Hampshire of Union City, Ohio and Nina & Mark Lewis of Venedocia, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; sister, Marge Middleton of New Madison; sisters in law, Caroline Singer of Palestine and Ruby Singer of New Weston; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Thwaits and brothers, Roy, Ben, Carl and Bob Singer.

Tom was a member of Nashville United Methodist Church and a graduate of Jackson High School. He served in the United States Army from 1950-1952 and retired from Fram in 1994.

There will be a service held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11:30 AM at Nashville United Methodist Church, 5984 Palestine-Union City Rd., Greenville, Ohio (Nashville), with Pastor Chuck MacKeen officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Ohio. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at church. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Duane "Buster" Davidson (May 5, 2014)

Duane "Buster" Davidson, 80, of Greenville passed away on May 5, 2014 at his residence. Duane was born on February 24, 1934 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Earl "Jimmy" and Marie (Siberry) Davidson.

Buster was a member of St. Mary's Church in Greenville. He also retired from BF Goodrich. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, coon hunting, traveling and camping. One of Buster's favorite past times was playing poker.

Buster is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wilma Lee "Boots" (Goubeaux) Davidson of Greenville; two sons and daughters in law, Dan and Melony Davidson and David and Sherry Davidson, all of Greenville; a daughter and son in law, Debbie and Tom Davidson-Smith of New Madison; six grandchildren, Jerimey Davidson, Angela and Justin Marshall, Chad Davidson, Kristen and Dan Sprunger, Shanon Smith, Ambrosia and Matt Ayette; two great grandchildren, Tevin and Ally Marshall.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 12:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville. Timothy James Sloan, age 55 of Celina, Ohio passed away on Sunday May 4, 2014 at his residence. He was born December 22, 1958 in Corning, New York, the son of the late Raymond Francis & Harriett (Yawger) Sloan. He worked in logistics at BNSF.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church; Eagles, Moose Lodge; Elks Lodge; & the American Legion.

Harold Marker (May 2, 2014)

Harold Marker, age 86, of Greenville, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

He was born June 19, 1927 in Piqua, Ohio, a son of the late Marion Joyce and Opal (Shade) Marker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Doris Nelson.

Harold was a barber and opened the Broadway Barber Shop in 1969

Harold has left behind 1 sister, Wanda Stump of Union City, Ohio; 2 brothers, Gary (Sue) Marker of Greenville, Ohio and Dick Marker of Oak Harbor, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and a very good friend and helper Rick Miniard.

Mamie C. Warrick (May 1, 2014)

Mamie C. Warrick, age 92, of rural Greenville, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Wayne Health Care in Greenville.

She was born August 6, 1921 in Ansonia, Ohio, a daughter of the late Maggie V. (Robeson) Kerns.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Renee Warrick; a son, Jeffrey Warrick and a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Margaret Kerns.

Mamie was a farm wife and spent her life tending to the things she loved most. She was a member of the Ansonia United Methodist Church where she also served as the historian publishing several church and local historical books. She was very active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America and was the secretary for the Ansonia High school Alumni Association for 49 years. Both she and Roger were very supportive of several environmental conservation organizations.

She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Roger Warrick; 2 children, Rockney (Sandra) Warrick and Ronda Warrick Miley, both of rural Versailles, Ohio; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Schatz, Lance Warrick, Jessica Warrick and Nathan (Erin) Miley, and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Harvey Warrick of Michigan.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, May 18 at the Ansonia United Methodist Church with Pastor Ron Hoeksema officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 PM until the time of the service.

Ronald Dean Middlestetter (May 2, 2014)

Ronald Dean Middlestetter age 70, of Greenville, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:48 P.M. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at his residence. Ronald was born September 30, 1943 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Robert F. & Betty J. (Thompson) Middlestetter.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Sally Lynn (Rhone) Middlestetter whom he married December 5, 1964; sons & daughters-in-law, Phil & Annie Middlestetter of Greenville, Brad & Kim Middlestetter of Ansonia and Ken & Mary Middlestetter of Pitsburg; daughter & son-in-law, Deana & Tim Davis Jr. of Richmond, Indiana; grandchildren, Joshua Middlestetter, Kalli Middlestetter, Lyssa Middlestetter, Monica & Kalan Smith, Brett Middlestetter, Kelcie Lanhan, Trenton Davis, Colton Davis, Evie Middlestetter and Hope Middlestetter; great-grandchildren, Mallory Smith and one expected soon; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ronald is also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Middlestetter; and brothers, James R. and Robert L. Middlestetter.

Ronald served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and also served in the Ohio National Guards. Ronald retired from Fram-Honeywell in 2006 with 27 years of service. Ronald attended Greenville Grace Brethren Church. Ronald was a member of the Darke County Emmaus and RENEWS.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Danny Wright, Rev. Don Myers and Mr. Edward “Buzz” Fink officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Garden in Darke County. Kenneth E. Horner age 83, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:06 P.M. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Village Green Nursing Home in Greenville. Kenneth was born July 7, 1930 in Darke County, Ohio to the late E. Ray & Ethel M. (Barga) Horner.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Trent) Horner whom he married October 21, 1955; brothers & sisters-in-law, Donald & Pauline Horner of Greenville and Jack & Gloria Horner of Greenville; sisters & brothers-in-law, Jean & Dave Mogle of New Madison and Linda & Roger Best of Greenville; special friends, Jody & Dean Neff of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth is also preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Horner; and half brother, Richard L. Horner.

Kenneth served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Trent Auto Parts in Greenville. Kenneth was a member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Gettysburg; Turtle Creek Golf Course-formerly Greenville Country Club where he player with the Geezers; and the Greenville V.F.W.

Tillie Simon age 91, of Russia, Ohio and more recently of the Versailles Health Care Center for the last 2 years, passed away at 3:15 A.M. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. Tillie was born December 6, 1922 in Boerne, Texas to the late Otto & Martha (Haag) Pfeiffer.

Tillie is survived by her sons & daughter-in-law, Donald & Ruth Simon of Brookville, Ohio and Daniel Simon of Russia, Ohio; grandchildren, Kimberly & Josh Woodruff and Lauren Simon; great-grandson, Austin Woodruff and an expected great-granddaughter soon; sisters, Frances Sultenfuss of San Antonio, Texas and Betty Ortmann of Floresville, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Tillie is also preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd J. Simon; sister, Madeline; and brothers, LeRoy, Chester, Sonny and Alton.

Tillie was a seamstress at Buckeye Overall Company in Versailles for 10 years and was a cashier at Russia School for 17 years. Tillie was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church in Russia and Russia Senior Citizens.

Lowell Junior Hoff, 62, went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2014. He was born on June 23, 1951 and passed away at his residence. He was a roofer most of his life in the Piqua area. He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Winn; brother, Franklin Hoff; and step daughter, Tammy Cook.

Robert "Hutch" Willetts (April 30, 2014)

Robert "Hutch" Willetts, 86, of New Madison, passed away on April 30, 2014 at Friends Fellowship Community in Richmond.. Hutch was born on September 29, 1927 in Aniston, Alabama to the late Earl Victor and Rose(Hutchison)Willetts.

Hutch loved to tend to his vegetable garden and his take care of his wife's flowers. He also like to spend his time woodworking and traveling.

In addition to his parents, Hutch is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ruthanna (Oler) Willetts, who passed away on April 16, 2010, a brother, Jack Willetts, two sisters, Anne Willetts and Mary Alice Modrell and a sister in law and brother in law, Ned and Mary Alice Downing.

Hutch is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Kris and his wife Keila Willetts of New Madison and Kim and his wife Liz Willetts of New Madison; seven grandchildren, Kristian and his wife Amy Willetts, Lysa Greer, Kyle and his wife Jennifer Willetts, Meredith Willetts, Miranda Willetts, Benjamin Willetts, and Mason Willetts; five great grandchildren, Kristian Willetts II, Emily Willetts, Paige and Jacob Greer, Ethan Willetts; a brother and sister in law, Earl Victor "Vic' and Sherrie Willetts of DE; two sisters and brothers in Law, Earlene and Thayne Bodenmiller of PA and Grace and Ken Kensinger of Greenville; a sister in law, Carol Willetts Kretschmar.

Juanita M. Mikesell age 80, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 4:45 P.M. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. Juanita was born July 19, 1933 in Arcanum, Ohio to the late John & Tressie (Corwin) Prether.

Juanita is survived by her husband, Bob Mikesell whom she married December 28, 1952; children, Marjalie & Robert Schaaf of Greenville, Paul & Cathy Mikesell of New Madison, Bruce & Terri Miksell of New Madison and Kent & Dawn Mikesell of New Paris; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Bob & Lucy Prether of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Edie Prether of Greenville and Linda Lauderdale & Ken Myers of Portland, Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Juanita is also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Prether.

Juanita was a homemaker, she formerly worked at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Juanita was a dedicated volunteer. She was a member of Oakland Church of the Brethren where she formerly played the organ.

A celebration of Juanita’s life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Brethren Retirement Community Chapel 750 Chestnut Street Greenville with Pastor John Sgro and Pastor Todd Reish officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the Brethren Retirement Community Chapel.
