Robert W. Little (September 28, 2014)

Robert W. Little age 84, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:40 A.M. on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Village Green Healthcare Center in Greenville. Robert was born November 4, 1929 in Cheshire-Gallia County, Ohio.

Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gayle G. Little whom he married September 17, 1962; children, Robert Little Jr. & Nancy Rivers of Fairfield, Ohio and Shari L. & Paul Creech of Wilmington, Ohio; grandson, Ryan E. & Melody Creech of Williamsburg, Kentucky; brothers, Gregory P. Little of Glenwood Springs, Colorado and Foster & Lettie Little of Harlingen, Texas; sisters-in-law, Debra J. Little of St. Charles, Missouri and Linda Little of Lebanon, Ohio; and 13 nieces and nephews, 20 great-nieces and nephews and 3 great-great nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and step parents, Foster & Agnes Little, Effie & Ernest Nitz and Henry Penfound; brothers and sisters, Hilah F. Glandon, Eugenia Pearl Little, Shirley Little, Charles A. Little and Keith A. Little; brother-in-law, Ovid L. Glandon; and niece, Andrea Little Streicher.

Robert served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Robert retired in 1994 from Primex in Richmond, Indiana where he was an industrial electrician. Robert was a Police Officer in Loraine, Ohio for 6 years, worked for John Manville in Richmond for 15 years and Envirotech in Richmond for 16 years. Robert was a member of the West Manchester United Methodist Church where he formerly served as President of the Board of Trustees. Robert formerly served on the West Manchester Village Council; former President of the West Manchester Lions Club; former Trustee for the North Central Rescue Squad for 15 years and was formerly President of the Board for 10 years. Robert was a life member and former Commander of the West Manchester American Legion Post#665 and life member of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Association.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Terry Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Wares Chapel Cemetery in Preble County with Military Honors conducted by the Preble County Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Donna I. Rusch-Courtright (September 22, 2014)

Donna I. Rusch-Courtright, age 61 of Toledo, Ohio and formerly of Hollansburg passed away at 7:18 A.M. Monday September 22, 2014 in the emergency room of the University of Toledo Medical Center as a result of an auto accident in the Toledo area.

Donna was born January 31, 1953 in Greenville, Ohio and the daughter of James E. Cloyd of Hollansburg and Erma Jean (Snyder) Cloyd of Greenville.

She was a nurse’s aid at the Swan Point Care Center.

Donna was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Survivors, in addition to her parents: brother Edward Cloyd and his significant other Pamela Hammons of New Madison; sister Margie (Jim) McLear of Greenville; 2 nephews, 2 nieces and her close friend Ron Howell of Toledo.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday September 29, 2014 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Gary Cloyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday 1 hour prior to the services in the funeral home.

Evelyn L. (Shiverdecker) Stuck (September 26, 2014)

Evelyn L. (Shiverdecker) Stuck, age 90, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at home on September 26, 2014 after a short illness. She was born December 20, 1923, in Ansonia, Ohio, the daughter of Roy and Celia (Armstrong) Shiverdecker.

She was a graduate of Ansonia High School in the class of 1942. After graduating she was employed in Piqua, Ohio, until her marriage to Harold Stuck on July 4, 1947. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church near North Star, Ohio, where she taught Sunday School for 20 years and was an active member of the Women of the Church. She also was a member of North Star Legion Auxiliary Post 174 for 42 years.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, in May 2011; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Margaret Shiverdecker of Greenville; her sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Paul Routson of Covington; and sister-in-law Janet Shiverdecker of Greenville.

She is also survived by her three daughters, Marlene McGriff of Greenville; Shirley (Donald) Kingery of Carlsbad, California; Jeanette Taylor of Carlsbad, California, and son, Carl (Donna) Stuck of Versailles, and one brother, Kenneth Shiverdecker, of Greenville. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Denise (Shawn) Fourman, Nathan McGriff (Leanna Coby), Laura McGriff, Shannon (Dan) Bentley, Taylor (Joanne) Stuck, Bethany Griesdorn, Amanda Griesdorn (Chris Stark), Todd (Kristy) Kingery, and Chad (Cathleen) Kingery, along with 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, North Star, on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 10:30 am with Pastor Laura Shreffler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, Ohio, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Handicap Accessibility Fund, St. Paul Lutheran Church or State of the Heart Hospice, Mercer County.

William Lee "Bill" Fisher (September 25th 2014)

William Lee "Bill" Fisher, 88, of Union City, OH, died Thursday September 25th 2014 at home.

He was born July 22, 1926 in Greenville, OH, a son of the late Charles H. and Doris (Edwards) Fisher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and Robert Fisher, and son-in-law Jerry Hittle.

Bill spent his early years on a farm. His family moved to Columbus, OH but he kept close with friends in the Union City area. After he graduated from Columbus South High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944. Bill was only 17 years at the time so his father had to sign the papers. After boot camp Bill was assigned to the U.S.S. Keokuk, a mine sweeper with their base in San Francisco, CA. At Iwo Jima one Japanese suicide plane hit the ship on the starboard side hitting Bill which resulted in the loss of his right leg from knee down. After a year of recuperation in the U.S. Naval hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He settled in Union City, IN. For his honorable service he was awarded the Purple Heart, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, American Theater Campaign and World War II Victory Medals. After his marriage to Joanne, he worked at Jobes & Sons in Greenville, OH and worked at Harrison Printing Company in Union City. Then in 1965 he became a compositor at the Greenville Daily Advocate until he retired. He was involved for 50 years in Union City, Indiana Lions Club. Bill enjoyed being involved in Lions Club, having served as District Governor 1979 - 1980.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joanne M Gullett Fisher; Daughters, Barbara (Brian) Livingston of Rockford, IL and Deborah (Ric) Burkett of Union City, OH; granddaughter, Allison (Jonathan) Butler of Union City, In; and great grandson, Grayson Butler. He is also survived by step grandchildren, Sheryl (Richard) Byron of Piqua OH and Jason (Alli) Hittle of Rossburg, OH and Chirs Weimer of Fairborn, OH; Step great grandchildren, Coltin and Kaitlyn Byron, Kylie, Kelsey and Kaleb Hittle.

Services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, with full military honors by the Greenville Honor Guard. Burial will follow in the Union City Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 5 – 7PM

Gene Schlechty (September 25, 2014)

Gene Schlechty age 86, of Union City, Ohio passed away at 5:45 P.M. on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at his residence. Gene was born October 20, 1927 in Spartanburg, Indiana to the late Carl H. & Clarice L. (Warren) Schlechty.

Gene is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sharon L. (Coning) Schlechty whom he married July 1, 1951; son & daughter-in-law, Tony & Marty Schlechty of Greenville, Ohio; daughters & sons-in-law, Debbie & Jim Ernst of Defiance, Ohio and Melody & Matt Setters of Duncan, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kyle & Amber Schlechty, Craig “Biggin” & Jennifer Schlechty, Kurt & Emily Schlechty, Emily Stark, Hunter Stark, Cordell Setters and Jordan Setters; great-grandchildren, Kody Schlechty, Kaylee Schlechty, Carl Schlechty, Caleb Schlechty and Caden Schlechty; Gene was also known as Grandpa to many friends; sister, Mary Fields of Farmland, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gene was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Kari Schlechty; great-grandchild, James Schlechty; and brother, John Schlechty.

Gene served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Philippines. Gene was a grain and dairy farmer and formerly worked at the Union City Body Company in Union City, Indiana. Gene was a member of the Woodington Congregational Christian Church. He was a former Trustee for Jackson Township. Gene was an avid motorcycle rider, having toured 47 States, Canada and Nova Scotia with family and friends. Gene was an avid horseman and participated in several parades. He enjoyed and helped train harness racing horses at the Darke County Fair Grounds.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Jim Fulton officiating. Ida Glee Spillers (September 26, 2014)

Ida Glee Spillers age 82, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 8:15 A.M. on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. Ida was born June 3, 1932 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Mahlon & Goldie (Noffsinger) Cain.

Ida is survived by a son, David Spillers of Versailles; daughters & son-in-law, Connie Spillers Fogt of Greenville and Eileen Spillers Cox & husband, Chris of Greenville; grandchildren, Paula Fogt Knecht, Angela Fogt, Andrea Cox and Chance Cox; great-grandchildren, Kalyn Krupke, Brendyn Fogt and Loren Sharp; great-great granddaughter, Adalynn Fogt; sisters & brother-in-law, Norma & Lee York of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ida was also preceded in death by her husband, Waldon “Moon” Spillers on December 13, 2011 whom she married December 24, 1947; brothers, Ora, Lawrence, Charles and Cecil Cain; and sisters, Vesta Kreider, Pearl Liette, Retha Leopard, Reva Ford and Mary Cain.

Ida was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the Versailles United Methodist Church.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. Richard W. Burch (September 25, 2014)

Richard W. Burch age 82, of Bradford, Ohio passed away at 6:34 P.M. on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Richard was born October 15, 1931 in Piqua, Ohio to the late George Fulton & Helen G. (Rich) Burch.

Richard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Della L. (Lavy) Burch whom he married April 1, 1953; daughters & son-in-law, Katrina (Burch) & Dan Hoening of Ansonia and Teri Baker of Tucson, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Linda (Denney) Burch of Sidney; grandchildren, Jason Hoening of Greenville, Travis Hoening & fiancée, Amanda Slack of Laura, Stephanie Dotson of Greenville and Danielle & Doug Myers of Versailles; great-grandchildren, Michaela Hoening, Allison Hoening, Gaven Herring, Weston Hoening, Emma Hoening, Joshua Myers, Aiden Myers, Elsie Myers and Katelynn Myers; brothers, Don Burch of Bradford, Doug Burch of Bradford and Jim Burch of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; sister, Connie Middlestetter of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends of the church.

In addition to his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by a son, Rick E. Burch; brother, George Burch Jr.; and sisters, Miriam Riffell and Emma Mathias.

Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Hobart Manufacturing in Troy where he was a welder. Richard was a member of the Webster United Methodist Church; life member of the V.F.W. in Greenville and a member of the American Legion.

Marion Hanes Cooper (September 25, 2014)

Marion Hanes Cooper, 91, of Arcanum, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014.

She was born July 16, 1923, in Arcanum, Ohio, to the late Harry Russell and Marie (Corwin) Hanes. She is survived by a daughter Nancy (Jeff) Farris of Brighton, Missouri; two grandchildren Edward (Erin) Cooper of Orange, California, and Timothy (Lauren) Cooper of Portland, Oregon; two great granddaughters Emily and Evie Cooper; a brother Harry (Hana) Hanes of Tombstone, Arizona; and daughter-in-law Nancy (William) Cooper of Greenville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Ernest “Bud” Cooper, son William Hanes Cooper, and a brother Thomas C. Hanes.

After graduating from Miami Jacobs, Marion worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base during World War II. In the community, she was active in Faith United Methodist Church in Arcanum, United Methodist Women, Sunnyside Club, and the Arcanum Garden Club.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday October 03, 2014, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Mrs. Janice Michael officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10am until the time of the service.

Loraine(Steele) Rhoades (September 24, 2014)

Loraine(Steele) Rhoades, 85, of New Madison, Ohio passed away on September 24, 2014 at her residence. Loraine was born on December 20, 1928 in Germantown, Ohio to the late Joseph and Irene (Butts) Steele.

Loraine was a homemaker and a wonderful, loving mother to her family. She graduated as valedictorian in 1947 from New Madison High School. Loraine was a member and very active at the New Madison United Methodist Church. She was in charge of the pie bakes and harvest suppers. Loraine loved to crochet, macramé, and to sew. She spent alot of time in her garden and strawberry patch.

In addition to his parents, Loraine is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Rhoades, a son, Steve Rhoades, granddaughter, Teresa Mendenhall, brothers, Bernadette, Don, and David Steele, and an infant sister.

Loraine is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Sue Mendenhall of Greenville, Sandy and Jerry Gulley of New Madison, Shirley and Tom Bruner of New Madison, and Sheila and John Fitzwater of Union City; daughter in law, Beverly Rhoades of Greenville; grandchildren, Todd and April Mendenhall, Tina and Mo Johnson, Tracy and Jim Frech, Kelli and Scott Price, Kim Hileman, Rebecca and Chase Spencer, Stacey and Brian Jones, Chad and Rachel Emrick and Benjamin Rhoades; twenty-five great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brother and sister in law, Burleigh and Carol Steele of Greenville; sister, Sharon Morrison and friend Bill of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 3 PM at the New Madison United Methodist Church with Pastor Carol Duffield officiating. Friends and family may visit on Saturday at the New Madison United Methodist Church from 1 PM until time of service. Burial will follow in the Greenmound Cemetery. Ralph L. Seger (September 23, 2014)

Ralph L. Seger age 67, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at his residence. Ralph was born September 4, 1947 in Fort Loramie, Ohio to the late Linus B. & Juanita E. (Fullenkamp) Seger.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Bonita F. (Kremer) Seger whom he married October 28, 1972; children, Maria A. Seger-Cramer & husband, Josh of Bradenton, Florida, Daniel R. Seger & wife, Chris of Ansonia, Jeannene D. Judson & husband, Fred of Bowling Green, Benjamin C. Seger & wife, Morgan of Ansonia and David B. Seger of Columbus, Indiana; grandchildren, Hannah Judson, Katherine Judson, Tara Seger, Nolan Seger and one expected grandchild in March of 2015; brothers & sisters, Fr. Oscar Seger of Egypt, Madonna & Bill Poeppelman of Yorkshire and Bruce & Elaine Seger of Fort Loramie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was also preceded in death by his brothers, Donald U., Roger J. and Louis B. Seger.

Ralph served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Ralph was a heating and cooling specialist for 42 years and farmed his entire life. Ralph retired from Carr Supply in Greenville. Ralph was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville and a 3rd Degree Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 1796.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 233 West Third Street Greenville with Rev. Fr. John White celebrant and Rev. Fr. Oscar Seger concelebrant. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park in Covington with Military Honors conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. and Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville. Tony J. Hughes (September 22, 2014)

Tony J. Hughes, 56 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 4:00 A.M. Monday September 22, 2014 at his residence. He was born November 29, 1957 in Greenville, Ohio and the son of James & Opal (Grooms) Hughes of Greenville.

After a successful baseball career at Greenville High School, Tony graduated in 1976. He worked for Schrader’s of Greenville for 14 years, and then finished his life long career as an over-the-road truck driver traveling across the United States.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Gary Hughes.

Tony is survived by his children & spouse: Jalee & Blake Aultman of Greenville and Lance Hughes also of Greenville; grandchildren: Keegan & Kinley Aultman; sisters & brothers in law: Beverly & Larry Hughes Fitzwater of Greenville, Susan & Don Schieltz of Troy, & Kathy & Jeff Huffman of Huntington, West Virginia.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday September 26, 2014 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Sylvia McKibben officiating. Burial will follow in Stelvideo Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.

Janet formerly worked at Poultry Producers in Versailles, Star Greenhouse in North Star and the Inn at Versailles. She was a member of the American Legion and Eagles Ladies Auxiliary in Versailles.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Dennis Wheeler officiating. Phyllis Rose Lease Miller (September 19, 2014)

Phyllis Rose Lease Miller, age 93, of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014 at State of the Heart Hospice, Greenville, Ohio. She was born April 18, 1921 in Wakefield, Ohio to the late Earl C. Lease and Florence L. (Clark) Lease. She was a 1939 graduate of Greenville High School and attended Dayton Comptometer Business College and Miami Jacobs in Dayton, Ohio. She worked at General Athletics, Frigidaire, Dayton Rubber and retired from Greenville Manufacturing in 1991.

Phyllis was baptized at and a member of Wakefield Lutheran Church and St. Paul Lutheran Church. She served on the Altar Guild and Landscape Action team, Greenville Area Women’s Connection and weekly Bible study. She used her sewing talents to help others. She made lap robes for babies and adults in hospitals and for the Veterans’ Administration, helped make teddy bears for children with cancer and large quilts for Africa.

She was active in the Ladies’ Auxillary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Greenville Memorial Post 7262, having served six consecutive years as President of the Ladies’ Auxillary, six years as patriot instructor, seven years as poppy chairwoman and made regular visits to the Veterans’ Hospital for many years. She received the VFW’s Citizen of the Year Award in 2010 and Auxillary Member of the Year in 2012.

Phyllis was a charter member of the Wood Sprite Garden Club since 1986 and helped decorate nursing homes for the holidays, along with other gardening activities for the community. She provided service to the Darke County Visitors’ Bureau, Darke County Soil and Water Conservation District, the Cancer Association of Darke County and Rest Haven Nursing Home. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and was named Woman of the Year in 1994. She sold fair tickets for BPW for over 25 years. She also belonged to the Towne Square Quilt Club since 1981.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Miller Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Dena R. (Robert) Nelsen of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Annice E. Miller of Minneapolis, Minnesota; step-granddaughters Alexandra Nelsen and Vanessa Nelsen; sisters Jean Klepinger and Martha Boyd; brothers Clark Lease and Donald Lease and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. The family extends their sincere thanks and appreciation to Phyllis’ caregivers at State of the Heart Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church at 131 East Fourth Street, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, September 22, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio and on Tuesday one hour prior to the services in the church. There will be a VFW Ladies Auxiliary service at 7:45 PM on Monday at the funeral home.

David D. Grieshop (September 17, 2014)

David D. Grieshop, 68, of Arcanum, passed away Wednesday morning, September 17, 2014 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

He was born September 21, 1945 in Dayton, son of the late Ernest “Hap” and Mary Katherine (Penrod) Grieshop. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Anna Jo Grieshop in 2008, and a brother William Grieshop.

David had retired from General Motors in Vandalia had served as a volunteer firefighter for the city of Union. He was a veteran of the US Navy and a member of the VFW, AmVets and the Eagles. He was also an avid bowler.

He is survived by his daughter, Lora (Andy) Long; 3 grandchildren, Reed, Jocelyn, and Anne-Marie; brothers, Donald (Janet), Richard (Debbie), Steven, and Bob Grieshop.

A Memorial service will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, September 24 at the First Universalist Church in New Madison with Pastor Richard Venus officiating. Burial with full veteran’s honors will take place at a later date in the Forest Hills Cemetery in Vandalia.

Craig A. McGlinch, 64 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Thursday September 18, 2014 at 4:25 AM at his residence. He was born March 4, 1950 in Greenville, Ohio the son of Robert & Jane McGlinch of Greenville and the late Lois (Hangen) McGlinch. He retired from Kroger’s in Greenville and also retired from the Greenville City Schools; he was also a substitute teacher for the Darke County Schools.

He was a graduate of Greenville Senior High and Capital University. He was a private pilot and an amateur radio operator.

He is preceded in death by his mother; grandson: Alec Pohlman; niece: Rachel McGlinch.

Carol Elizabeth (Mueller) Beasley, age 74, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 9:45 AM at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on July 12, 1940 in Shelby County, Ohio, to the late Joseph T. & Verona Susan (Miller) Mueller.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis R. Beasley of Greenville, Ohio, whom she married on November 17, 2001; son and daughter in law, Rob & Sherri Morris of Armada, MI; daughters and son in law, Rox Anne & Mark Riegle of Ft. Recovery, OH, and Rhonda Minton and Lugene Ignaffo of Greenville; grandchildren, Brandy Murphy, Brittany Noble and husband Kerry, Lucas Bolin, Zackary Bolin and wife Annie, Gabriel Riegle, Seth Riegle, Krista Morris and husband Billie Spooner and Robbie Morris; great grandchildren, Kayla Murphy, Easton, Landon, Jacob and Mallie Noble, Henry & Oliver Bolin; brothers and sister in law, Richard & Kay Mueller of Greenville and Donald Mueller of Mustang, OK.

Carol retired from Second National Bank in 2005 as a bank teller. She was a member of the Greenville Eagles Auxiliary #2177 and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She loved bowling, fishing and playing softball.

Juanita E. (Wentz) Wilkinson Larsh, 85 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday September 16, 2014 at 10:00 PM at Wayne Healthcare. She was born December 21, 1928 in Muncie, Indiana the daughter of the late Archie & Ethel (Smith) Wentz. She was an LPN at the Brethren’s Home for 18 years retiring in 1994. She was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church and was past president of the State of Ohio LPN Association.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband: Donald Wilkinson; daughter: Julie Wilkinson; brother: Jack Wentz; sisters: Martha Fehrenbach, Helen Burk, Ruth Cecil, & Marjorie Yost.

She is survived by her husband: Charles Larsh of Greenville; children: Rebecca Wilkinson of Greenville, Archie Wilkinson of Ashtabula, Ohio, Jay Wilkinson of Ashtabula, Ohio; step children: Steven Larsh of Arcanum, & Denise (Larsh) Hansbarger of Arcanum; she was a grandmother who loved her grandchildren.

Kenneth Dale Grewe, 71, of Greenville, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 17, 2014 at his residence.

He was born August 15, 1943 in Greenville, son of the late Elmer and Arlene (Clark) Grewe.

He is survived by his children, Kenneth A. (Farah) Grewe of Union City, IN, Tammy (Joe) Hoke of Arcanum, and James (Amy) Grewe of Gettysburg; step daughters, Tina (Rick) Leckey of Troy, and Darlene Delk of Greenville; 18 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; a brother, John Grewe of Washington State; and a sister, Sandra Noggle of Versailles.

Private services will be held at a later date with burial in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles.

Jennie L. Clark, age 72 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:45 A.M. Tuesday September 16, 2014 at her residence. She was born September 4, 1942 in Greenville, Ohio and the daughter of the late Kenneth H. and Edna I. (Reck) Bretz.

Jennie started her employment career at Delco Moraine in Dayton, later worked at the State of Ohio Employment Office in Greenville and retired from the Darke County Job and Family Service Office, also in Greenville.

She was very involved with all of her family, friends and earlier had bowled in a ladies bowling league.

Jennie was survived by her husband Kenneth A. Clark of Greenville. They were married August 24, 1963. Also her children Kent A. Clark and friend Laura Ahrens of Greenville; Teresa (Terry) Kissinger of Piqua and Cindy (Rob) Burdine of Thornton, CO; grandchildren Ethan Clark, Zane Clark, Adam Noble, Tiffany Thompson, Maggie Burdine and Lacey Burdine; great grandchildren Caden, Alexa and Mason.

Alice Ballard Freitag Kau age 97, passed away at 2:10 A.M. on Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio. Alice was born August 26, 1917 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Charles & Olga (Sperling) Ballard.

Alice is survived by her son, James Freitag & fiancée, Barbara Smith of Caspian, Michigan; daughter & son-in-law, Carol and R. Michael Williams of Versailles, Ohio with whom she had made her home for the past 14 years; step son, Jerry (Linda) Kau of Roselle, Illinois; step daughters, Diane (George) Jeffs of Algonquin, Illinois, Sheryl (Gene) Olesen of Biloxi, Mississippi and Ruthann (Tom) Berger of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Heidenreich of Versailles, Ohio, Jamie (Kristen) Williams of Dubois, Pennsylvania, Nancy (Randy) Bergemann of Kiel, Wisconsin, Aaron (Patty) Freitag of Sheboygan, Wisconsin and Lynn (Dan) Koblewski of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren and 16 step great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, Alice was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Harold Freitag in 1987; 2nd husband, Vernon Kau in 1997; brother, William Ballard; granddaughter, Christine Freitag; and step great grandson, Tanner Olesen.

Alice attended school in Sheboygan and graduated from Sheboygan High School in 1934. Alice was an executive secretary for nearly 45 years for G.B. McKinley Inc. in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Alice was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sheboygan; belonged to the Christian Endeavor Group; the Women’s Guild and Sunday school, and in retirement, worked as the church secretary for many years. Alice enjoyed traveling, especially visiting family, reading and writing poetry. Her love of horses spread to the family, and she loved spending time at her granddaughter’s horse farm and wrote one of her poems for it. The family always waited for her beautiful Christmas card poem, which she managed to compose until 2013.

A memorial service celebrating Alice’s life will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin with Rev. Dr. Richard C. Manny officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to time of service at the church. Per Alice’s wish, there will be no viewing. Charles R. Walters, 88, of Ansonia, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening, September 11, 2014 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.

He was born October 26, 1925 in Darke County, Ohio, a son of the late Ralph and Norma (Thomas) Walters. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria M. (Mills) Walters who passed away February 3, 2004.

Charles was a farmer and enjoyed tending to his flower and vegetable gardens.

He is survived by two daughters, Stephenie Walters of Cincinnati, Ohio and Rebecca Montag of Fairfield, Ohio; grandson, Jeremy J. Montag of Denver, Colorado; and two sisters, Shirley Marker of Greenville, Ohio and Lois Hardy of Columbus, Ohio.

Barbara Jeanne Caupp, 78, a resident of Brethren Retirement Community Greenville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Reid Hospital Richmond, Indiana.

She was born October 2, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harry and Eleanor (Boulaz) Montoney. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ray E. Caupp who passed away April 7, 2011.

Barb was a homemaker, farm wife, bus driver for Ansonia School, Anthony Wayne, Greenville School. She also had worked at the Darke County Childrens Home in Greenville.

She is survived by her sons, Terry (Patty) Caupp of Gettsyburg, and Chris (Jill) Caupp of Greenville; daughters, Jeanne (Doug) Lyme of Greenville and Tracy (Donnie) Marker of Greenville; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Anna Palmer of Anaheim, CA; brother, James “Jim” Montoney of Mt. Juliet, TN; and a very special friend, “Maggie”.

John R. Rhoades, 71, of (Wayne Lakes) Greenville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at his residences.

He was born in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Ernest and Katherine (Reynolds) Rhoades. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Jane L. (Quire) Rhoades who passed away February 4, 2008; and a brother, Ronald Rhoades.

John was retired from Delco Moraine in Dayton, Ohio. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, member of and past Exalted Ruler of Elks of Greenville, VFW Arcanum, AmVets Life 726, American Legion, Eagles and Moose.

He was survived by his son, Johnny and wife Kristen of Rocky River, Ohio; a daughter, Michelle Rhoades of Greenville; grandchildren, Ronnie Jones, Hunter Rhoades, Halle Rhoades; and a sister and brother-in-law, Gayle (Richard) Miller of Spring Valley, Ohio.

Graveside services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held Tuesday, September 16 at 11:30 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fort Jefferson. Chad Allen Fisherback (September 8, 2014)

Chad Allen Fisherback, age 31 of Greenville, Ohio passed away Monday September 8, 2014. Chad was born August 30, 1983 in Greenville, Ohio and the son of Tamara S. (Neff) Sackett of Greenville and Thomas J. Fisherback, also of Greenville.

Chad was a 2002 graduate of Greenville Senior High School, an active member of the baseball team at which he had truly excelled and the band. He loved fishing, hunting, animals and watching auto races with his family. He was currently employed at Eikenberry’s Grocery in the meat department.

Chad was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents John B. and Neva J. (Lipps) Fisherback and his Maternal Grandfather James D. Neff.

Survivors in addition to his Mother and Father would be his Maternal Grandmother Doris (Marker) Neff of Greenville; Step Father Tim L. Sackett of Greenville; Step Grandfather Bill L. Sackett of Okeana, Ohio; Brother Mitchell J. Fisherback of New Paris and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Fraley, Dale Eugene, 72, passed away September 6, 2014 at his home with family by his side, from a long illness. He was born July 3, 1942 to Millard and Mae Fraley. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Kriss, in 1963. He is survived by sons, Darren (Darlene) Fraley of South Carolina, Dane Fraley of Oxford, Ohio and Bryan (Ricky) Fraley of Dayton, six grandchildren and caregivers, Roger & Karen Henline, and brother, Douglas (Judy) Fraley of Kansas, and several nieces and nephews.

Dale was a graduate of Westmont High School and received his Master’s degree in Education from Morehead State University. He taught high school math for 30 years, retiring from Ansonia, and was a professor at Ivy Tech for an additional 12 years. He served as Mayor of West Manchester for many years, served on the Village Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years, village council, water board and park board. He was a deacon in the Palestine Church of Christ. As per his wishes, there was a private burial service on September 9, 2014 at the Palestine, Ohio Cemetery. Patrick C. Grieshop, age 62 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Osgood passed away at 11:15 A.M. Sunday September 7, 2014 at the Kettering Medical Center Kettering, Ohio. Patrick was born March 17, 1952 in Coldwater, Ohio and the son of the late Charles J. & Mary A. (Luebke) Grieshop.

Patrick was a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church of Osgood and had been employed at Wayne Industries of Greenville.

He is survived by his sister Jude Grieshop of Osgood.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday September 11, 2014 in the St. Nicholas Catholic Church of Osgood with Father David Zink celebrating. Jane Polei, age 83, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 1:35 AM at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on July 6, 1931 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Arthur & Elsie (Kenny) Kraus.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard Polei of Greenville; son, David Polei of Granby, Colorado; daughter and son in law, Melissa & Dave Schlichte of Arcanum, Ohio; grandchildren, Crystal (Matthew) Grote, Erica (Michael) Rouse, Ryan Polei and Michael Polei; great grandson, Owen Grote; sisters and brothers in law, Sonja & Jim Burch of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Judy & Dan Blagg of New Bremen, OH; numerous nieces and nephews as well as many loving friends.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her daughter in infancy, Melody Jane Polei and daughter in law, Suzanne Polei.

She was a member of Woodington Congregational Christian Church. She retired from Greenville High School and was also a homemaker. She loved reading and cooking. Jane always had a positive attitude and would do anything for anyone. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and will be very missed.

There will be a service held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Jim Fulton officiating. Patricia (Monnin) DeMange, age 85, of Russia, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 2:50 AM at her residence. She was born on October 25, 1928 in Russia, Ohio, to the late Marcelleus & Veronica (Barhorst) Monnin.

She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Jim & Donna DeMange of Versailles, Joe & Alice DeMange of Russia and Guy & Angela DeMange of Yorkshire, Ohio; daughters and sons in law, Jane & Marvin Pierron of Versailles, Mary & Bob Miller of Versailles, Denise & August Otte of Covington, Ohio, and Dorothy & Mike Litmer of Ft. Recovery, Ohio; 23 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brothers, Jerry & Lurene Monnin of Versailles, Denis & Georgie Monnin of Versailles, and Tom & Linda Monnin of Russia; sister, Sister Carmelita Monnin CPPS of Chile; brother in law Carl Barlage of Russia; brothers in law and sisters in law, Lawrence & Mary Lou DeMange of Sidney, Joann Large of Houston and Delores & Lester Beisner of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Norbert F. DeMange whom she married on October 12, 1948; sister, Rita Barlage; and great grandchild, Jacob Pierron; brothers in law and sisters in law, Leslie Large, Rita DeMange, and Mary Catherine & John Gephart.

Patricia worked at the IGA’s in Russia and Versailles. She was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church where she taught CCD for many years and loved going to The Gathering Place in Russia. She made quilted lap robes for Right to Life, FISH, Veterans Hospital and veterans in the Russia area. She made noodles, angel food cakes and gallons of apple sauce for the area soup kitchens.

Due to the construction at St. Remy Catholic Church there will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. Jim Simons, Rev. Fr. David Vincent and Rev. Fr. Gene Vonderhaar co-celebrants. Burial will follow in the St. Remy Catholic Church Cemetery, Russia, Ohio. Angel Marie Cole Cheadle, age 23, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 2:18 PM at her residence. She was born on March 24, 1991 in Dayton, Ohio, to Kelly Cole of Dayton and Brian Thomas of Dayton.

Angel was a stay at home mom and is survived by her 2 daughters Mariah and Maleah Cheadle. She is also survived by her husband Pete Cheadle of Greenville whom she married on March 24, 2008; great grandmother, Leah Bowles; grandfather, Thomas Bowles; siblings, Austin Thomas, Shawen Back, Sierra Back, Hannah Back and Madison Back; aunts, Debra Crouch and Linda Baker; uncles, Dave, Shawn, Michael, Christopher and Thomas Bowles Jr.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her great grandfather, Evert Bowles; grandmother, Roberta Marie Cole and uncle Donald Bowles.

There will be a service held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Ohio. Family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Dorothy (Dodie) Pearl Spencer (September 1, 2014)

Dorothy (Dodie) Pearl Spencer, 97, of The Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Sweitzer St., Greenville, passed away early Monday evening, September 1, 2014 at Wayne Hospital.

Dorothy was born on a farm in Darke County, west of Brock, on December 17, 1916 to the late Arthur and Jennie Lanich. She married the late Elwood (Spence) Spencer on August 6, 1949. They were married for 55 years and he preceded her in death in 2004. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her sister and only sibling, Mrs. Ruby Goens.

Dorothy was a 1934 graduate of Greenville High School. She was a member of the Greenville E.U.M. Church and the Phi Beta Psi sorority.

Dorothy worked for 40 years at the General Athletic Products Co. and was manager of the shipping department. Her husband, Elwood (Spence), worked at Sutton’s Super Valu in Arcanum for 37 years. Dorothy and Spence enjoyed traveling and were proud of having visited all of the 50 states except for Alaska. Dorothy’s kindness to others, warm sense of humor and delicious cookies will be missed by her family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by three great-nephews, Mike (Deb) Lecklider, Tim (Sharon) Lecklider and Jeff (Teena) Lecklider and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by four wonderful friends, Jean Selanders, Marjorie Michael and Bonnie and Randy Ross.

Dorothy’s family would like to thank the outstanding medical staff at Wayne Hospital ICU for the capable and loving care she received in her final days. They would also like to thank the Brethren Retirement Community staff for the comfortable home, community setting and care they provided to Dorothy for the past 12 years.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Brethren Retirement Community Chapel, Greenville. Burial will follow in Brock Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Brethren Retirement Community Chapel from noon until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Residents’ Aid Fund of the Brethren Retirement Community or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Robert J. Punches, 48, of Greenville, passed away Monday evening, September 1, 2014, in the emergency room of Wayne Healthcare.

He was born December 1, 1965, in Greenville, son of the late Shirley M. (Keller) Schultz and Joseph Punches of Michigan.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Nicole L. (Whitehouse) Punches, whom he married March 21, 2003; children, Angel Punches, Cheyenne Punches, Tyler Fellers, Logan Fellers, Brad Whitehouse, and Tom Rindler; 2 grandchildren, Braylon and Kenson Whitehouse; brothers, Daniel and Jeffrey Punches; sister, Ronda K. Wieneke; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 5, 2014, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Virginia Mote (March 10, 2014)

Virginia A. Mote passed away on March 10, 2014 in Ft. Myers, FL.

Virginia was born August 1, 1920 in MA to Harry and Edna Vett. The family lived in the Boston area before moving to Danielson, CT. Loving to travel, in 1940, she and a friend traveled to Mexico by train. In 1944 she joined the WAVES (U.S. Navy) and was stationed in Cleveland, OH until applying for and receiving a transfer to Hawaii. Her office overlooked the wreckage of the Arizona. There she met her husband to be Wendell C. Mote who was also in the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge they were married in Danielson, CT. in October, 1946. They initially lived in Dayton, OH before moving to Hollansburg.

Virginia while raising 3 children, she worked in the family business, W.C. Mote & Sons, in Glen Karn. She later worked and retired from Hamilton Motors in Greenville. In 1986, they moved to LeHigh Acres, FL and had a furniture repair and refinishing business. Wendell died in 2001 just 2 weeks before their 55th wedding anniversary. In 2007 Virginia, battling the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease moved into a Ft. Myers nursing home specializing in memory care where she died.

In addition to loving to travel which took her to all 50 states, Canada and Mexico, she enjoyed reading, knitting, following her oldest daughter and son to various trapshooting events. She was well known in the area for her famous Boston Baked Beans. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great children who shared her love of baseball. Although a member of the Christian Science Church in Boston, MA, she was active in the Hollansburg Congregational Church. She was also an auxiliary member of the American Legion.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Szall (Henry) of Marietta, GA, her children Laura Christopher (James) of Brunswick, OH, Elizabeth Russell (Leon) Waynesville, NC and son, Wm. Carl Mote (Janet) of Reed, MO. There are 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Edna Vett, her brother, Robert and her husband, Wendell.

A celebration of her life will be held on September 6th at 10:00 am with visitation at the Hollansburg Congregational Church starting at 9:00 am. Burial will be at the Old Ludlow Cemetery on Coppock Road in Laura. Donations in her memory to the Alzheimer's Assosication, www.alz.org will be greatly appreciated by the family.

Nancy L. Augustine (September 1, 2014)

Nancy L. Augustine age 84, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 1:45 A.M. on Monday, September 1, 2014 at her residence. Nancy was born June 6, 1930 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Virgil & Uree (Brodrick) Boli.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Neil E. Augustine whom she married June 20, 1953; daughter & son-in-law, Stephanie & Frank Szymanski of Greenville; son & daughter-in-law, Eric N. & Debra Augustine of Greenville; grandchildren, Barrett Gruber & partner, Leslie, Derek Gruber, James & Heather Augustine, Michael Augustine & partner, Esther and Matthew & Kim Augustine; sister, Nola Shields of Anaheim, California; sisters-in-law, Audrey & Paul Mrofchak of Girard, Ohio and Louise Boli of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was also preceded in death by a son, James E. Augustine; brothers, Eugene, Bernard and Dr. Ray Boli; and sisters, Velma Jones, Dorothy Boli and Charlene Boli.

Nancy was a homemaker and worked for 30 years for Dr. Cox & Dr. Trimble Podiatrists. Nancy was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church in Greenville.

Nicole (Cheyrou-Lagreze) King (21 August 2014)

Nicole (Cheyrou-Lagreze) King age 86 a long time resident of Greenville, Ohio passed away on 21 August 2014 in Hollywood, Florida.

She was born 6 March 1928 in Lorient, France a daughter of Dr. Henri and Helene Cheyrou-Lagreze who preceded her in death along with her brothers Yves and Jean Paul from France and her sister Anne Heinecke. She has a brother Gerard and his wife Mary in France and a sister Francoise Murphy and her husband Richard from Greenville, Ohio.

She was married in France to Ben King (serving in WWII) from Greenville, Ohio in 1946. Together they had eight children and seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her sons: Richard from Trotwood, Ohio; Dan and Norma from Arcanum, Ohio; Steve and Paula from Powell, Ohio and Ben from the Philippines Islands. Her daughters: Edy Jo King, Noelle King, Tammy and Kurt Dobbrunz all from Hollywood, Florida and Michelle and Joe Ellis from Floral City, Florida. Grandchildren: Jeffery King, Scott and Jenny and great granddaughter Elyse King, Travis Ellis, Joey Ellis, Shelby, Carly and Adam Dobbrunz.

Nicole King worked at several Greenville Rest Homes, Wayne Hospital and finally retired from Fram (Honeywell) Corporation. She loved life and family and traveled extensively after she retired. A devout Catholic, funeral services were held in Hollywood Florida at the Little Flower Catholic Church on August 29, 2014. Visitation will be at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home on North Broadway in Greenville, Ohio on Friday the 5th of September 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Nicole will join her husband in private burial at the Dayton National Cemetery.

Zoe is survived by her sons & daughter-in-law, Mike Stephan of Rossburg and Doug & Tiphany Stephan of Versailles; grandchildren, Hayley, Hayden, Juli and Joshua; sisters-in-law, Sue Kreitzer of Palestine, Judith Stephan of Arcanum and Arlene & Gerald Sharp of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Zoe was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Stephan; son, Curtis Stephan; and brothers, Bennie K. Kreitzer and James J. Kreitzer.

Boyce H. “Chic” Bankson (August 28, 2014)

Boyce H. “Chic” Bankson, 90, of Greenville, a resident of Versailles Health Care Center, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 2:05 p.m. Chic was born on May 18, 1924, the son of Roy and Blanche Bankson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Doyle G. Bankson, and his sister, Helen E. Gibson.

Chic is survived by his wife, Mary E. (Lephart) Bankson, to whom he was a beloved husband for 68 years; and father to daughters, Holly (Ted) Finnarn of Greenville, Ohio; Lori (Matt) DeBacker of Lowell, Michigan; Mary Beth (Eric) Erisman of Greenville, Ohio; grandchildren, Shawn (Dave) Wilson of Dayton, Ohio; Ted Finnarn, Jr. (Marce) of Phoenix, Arizona; Thom Finnarn of Brooklyn, New York; Alex Finnarn of Cincinnati, Ohio and Alison Finnarn of Columbus, Ohio; Riley DeBacker of Columbus, Ohio and Rowby DeBacker of Lowell, Michigan; Dustin Erisman of Greenville, Ohio and Marykate (Tony) Bonfiglio of Greenville, Ohio. He had four great-grandchildren: Zoe Wilson, David Wilson, Laila Erisman and Jasmine Finnarn. He is also survived by his sister, Juanita Roberson of Winchester, Indiana; Wayne Bankson of Edwards, Missouri; Eldon Bankson of Troy, Ohio; Jean B. Cipriano of Boynton Beach, Florida; Dean Bankson of Greenville, Ohio; and Phyllis Thomas of Greenville, Ohio.

Chic was a veteran of WWII serving in active combat and later performed all over the European Theatre as a member of the 5th Infantry Chorus. Upon his return, Chic was a manager of A & P in Greenville and Dayton, Ohio; a section manager of the Fuller Brush Company; owner of Chic’s Chuck Wagon Catering; and owner/broker/appraiser of Arrowhead Realty. He was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church and the Darke County Camp of the Gideons International. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the Darke County Farmers Union; and he was also an avid fisherman and Cincinnati Reds baseball fan.

A memorial service will be held at Oliver Floyd Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Joe Soley officiating. The Greenville Honor Guard will conduct a military ceremony at the beginning of the service. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m., before the service. Burial will be at the Old Teegardan Cemetery on Rt. 49.

Barbara Ann Berry age 74, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:04 A.M. on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Heartland of Greenville. Barbara was born May 30, 1940 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Charles H. & Isabel (Manning) Weyant.

Barbara is survived by her sons & daughter-in-law, Jeffery D. Berry of Fort Worth, Texas and Rick G. & Missy Berry of Hiram, Georgia; daughter, Lori Berry of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Lauren Berry, Carly Berry, Parker Berry, Turner Berry, Alexis Gregory and Justin Berry; brothers, James Weyant of North Carolina, John Weyant of Celina and Harold Weyant of Greenville; sisters, Eileen Woodman of Versailles, Kathleen Lutz of Greenville and Phyllis Crowell of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Dean berry on May 24, 2013 whom she married May 26, 1962; brothers, Bob, Charles and Ed Weyant; and sisters, Mary Lou Lambert and Patty Roe.

Barbara retired from Whirlpool in Greenville. Barbra was a member of the Greenville Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Greenville Township Memorial Garden in Darke County with Rev. Terry Haworth officiating. Jerry L. McConaha (August 27, 2014)

Jerry L. McConaha age 79 of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 10:10 P.M. Wednesday August 27, 2014 in the emergency room of Wayne HealthCare Greenville, Ohio. He was born March 3, 1935 in Mercer County, Ohio and the son of the late William & Melva (Grile) McConaha Sr.

Jerry was retired as President/CEO of Superior Implement Supply Co. of Greenville where he had been employed for 25 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, the Darke County Shrine Club, Versailles Eagles Lodge, Greenville Elks Lodge, and a former Board member of the Greenville National Bank, Versailles Life Squad and Farm Equipment Wholesalers Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Donna Lou (Grimes) McConaha June 12, 1994. They were married July 12, 1969. Also by his brothers James McConaha, William McConaha Jr. and John McConaha.

Jerry is survived by his children Molly Anne (Christopher) Mumaw of Versailles and Matthew Grimes (Jennifer) McConaha of Westerville; grandchildren Jayden Mumaw, Jillian Mumaw, Jocelyn Mumaw, Mason McConaha and Cole McConaha; sister Mary Helen Meiring of Coldwater, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday Sept. 6, 2014 in the First Presbyterian Church 114 East Fourth Street Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Dr. John Person officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Greenville Cemetery.

Wilma R. Schnell (August 28, 2014)

Wilma R. Schnell, age 98 of Piqua, Ohio, and winter resident of N. Ft. Myers, Florida, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 1:37 AM surrounded by her family. She was born Feb. 17, 1916 in Swanders, Ohio, to the late Clarence E. & Ora A. (Stengel) Sturm. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Schnell; son, H. Keith McCawley; sisters, Lois Shaw, La Donna Middleton, Rene Shaw, Vera Lee, Francis and Shirley Sturm; and brothers; Clarence E. Sturm Jr. and Walter V. Sturm.

She is survived by her grandson Brett A. McCawley and wife Diane of Piqua; granddaughter, Stephanie Grise & husband David of Anniston, Alabama; great grandchildren, Matthew McCawley and Kaitlynn McCawley of Piqua, Travis Swigert and wife Amanda of Houston, Ohio, and Carla Swigert of Piqua; great great grandchildren, Austin & Owen Swigert and Ryan Fleisher; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Wilma was a 1933 graduate of Sidney High School. She worked as a bookkeeper & secretary during her life. She was an avid bridge player and reader. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Greenville. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. There will be a private service held at the convenience of the family. It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions are given to Hospice of Miami County or St. John Lutheran Church, Greenville, Ohio.

Phyllis R. Pitsenbarger (August 27, 2014)

Phyllis R. Pitsenbarger age 81, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 5:25 P.M. on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Versailles Health Care Center. Phyllis was born August 27, 1933 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Floyd Edward & Gladys Lucille (Park) Howard.

Phyllis is survived by a son, David Pitsenbarger of Ohio and a granddaughter, Cheryl & Eric Gaydos of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer F. Pitsenbarger on February 10, 1988 whom she married February 16, 1952; and sons, Michael & Jerry Pitsenbarger.

Phyllis was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Versailles.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Robert Akins officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Rebecca J. Harmon (August 27, 2014)

Rebecca J. Harmon, 64, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Rest Haven in Greenville.

She was born February 22, 1950, a daughter of the late Eugene and Ruby (Grise) Harmon.

In addition to her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by her daughter, Terry Lynn Doss; and a brother Tom Harmon.

She is survived by her children, Scott Gigandet of Lynn, Indiana and Jackie (Rich) Mestemaker of Yorkshire, Ohio; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a brother Donald R. Harmon of Bradford, Ohio and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Andrew Zawosky Jr. (August 24, 2014)

Andrew Zawosky Jr., age 72 of Stuart, Florida and formerly of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 1:56 P.M. Sunday August 24, 2014 in Stuart, Florida. Andrew was born December 6, 1941 in Sewickley, PA and the son of the late Andrew and Anna (Ponchak) Zawosky Sr.

He was retired from General Motors and also had farmed for many years owning Zawosky Farms and Zawosky Trucking.

Andrew was a graduate of Ambridge High School in 1959; a graduate of Penn State University with an AM Engineering Degree in 1961 and also a graduate of Frigidaire Division Apprenticeship in Tool & Die in 1968. He was a member of the Local 801; a Director on the board of Cardinal Ethanol; a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Dayton; Antioch Shrine of Dayton and a member of the Russian Society of St. Michael in Ambridge, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wives Geraldine Zawosky and Paulette Zawosky and brother Peter Zawosky.

Andrew is survived by his daughter Andrea Zawosky-Bachtel of Lebanon, Ohio; grandchildren Alycia Bachtel, Bryanna Bachtel, Nicholas Zawosky; great granddaughters Gabriellah Zawosky and Harper Zawosky; sister Nancy Barker of Palm City, FL; sister in law Darlene Zawosky of Jeanette, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday August 29, 2014 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Sylvia McKibben officiating. Burial will follow in the Castine Cemetery Castine, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. The Greenville Masonic Lodge will conduct a Masonic Memorial Service Thursday evening at 7:30 P.M. in the funeral home.

Billy Hayes (August 25, 2014)

age 76, of Webster, Ohio passed away at 8:25 P.M. on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Versailles Health Care Center. Billy was born January 28, 1938 in Harlan County, Kentucky to the late Frank & Grace (Bunch) Hayes.

Billy is survived by his wife, Ruby L. (Derr) Hayes whom he married August 1, 1970; sons & daughter-in-law, Stephen Hayes of Piqua, Michael & Kim Hayes of Versailles and Mark Thomas & fiancée, Tammy Hoban of Versailles; grandchildren, Josh Hayes, Kim Hayes, Zac Hayes, Nathan Hayes, Courtney Hayes, Taylor Hayes and Noah Hayes; great grandsons, Xlyar Duane Hayes and Kobyn Wesley Hayes; and sister & brother-in-law, Sue & Jerry Partin of Monroe, Michigan.

In addition to his parents, Billy was also preceded in death by a son, Billy D. Hayes; and a brother, Frank E. Hayes.

Billy served in the U.S. Army. He worked for 38 years as a machinist at Crane Pumps in Piqua, owned and operated Stillwater Bait & Tackle for 20 years and was a beekeeper for over 25 years. Billy was a member of Webster United Methodist Church for over 40 years.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Webster United Methodist Church 8849 Seibt Rd. (Webster) Bradford, Ohio with Pastor David Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park in Covington with full Military Honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the church.
