Sally R. Klipstine (July 26, 2014)

Sally R. Klipstine, 80, of Greenville, precious wife and mother, passed quietly and walked into the presence of God, Saturday evening, July 26, 2014, at her residence.

She was born September 8, 1933, in Ludlow Falls, OH, the daughter of the late Ralph and Phyllis (Aldrich) Wright. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lenard Clymer on June 7, 1969.

Sally had owned the former Clymer Trucking and worked many years for Dick Lavy Trucking. She had attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Versailles.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, George Klipstine, whom she married June 18, 1998; children, Rene’ (Devon) Wasson of Union City, IN, Connie (Jim) Sink of Englewood, Bryan (Aliana) Clymer of Greenville, J.D. Clymer of Versailles, Lenny (Tina) Clymer of Rotunda West, FL, and Teresa (Roger) Fleckenstein of Versailles; step sons, John (Becky) Klipstine, and Bill (Kim) Klipstine of Ansonia; grandchildren, Stacey (Aaron) Johnson, Jennifer (David) Dow, Holly (Chad) Garrison, Dr. Brianne Clymer, Lindse’ (Josh) Browner, Jesse Fleckenstein, and Kinni Fleckenstein; great grandchildren, Ryker, Daxton, Stella, Breylind, Kenyon, and Rolan; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Yantis, and Ellen Ditmer; a brother, Nick (Bobbie) Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Steve Shoop officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be given to either the Cancer Association of Darke County or the American Heart Association.

CAMPBELL, Judith A. (Finfrock) (July 10, 2014)

CAMPBELL, Judith A. (Finfrock) age 78 of Bethel Twp., passed away Sunday July 10, 2014 at Grandview Hospital following a short illness. She was born September 23, 1935 in Dayton, daughter of the late Merle & Lorene (Lotz) Finfrock. Judith enjoyed giving her time as a volunteer at the USAF Museum. She was preceded in death by her husband Adrian "Ace" Campbell in 1999 and 2 sons David in 2005 and Daniel earlier this year (2014). Mrs. Campbell is survived by her children Douglas Campbell of Dayton and Judith Diane Nichols of Tipp City; grandson Dustin Nichols & fiance' Maria Hopkins of Mason; granddaughter Melissa Waymire of Arcanum; one brother James Finfrock of Las Vegan, NV; great-granddaughter Lexi Hopkins; 2 nephews and her beloved dog Cash McCall. A memorial Service for family and friends will be held Saturday August 2, 2014 at 2:00pm at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia. In lew of flowers, contributions may be made to the Darke County Animal Shelter.

Judy Honeyman (July 27, 2014)

Judy Honeyman, age 84 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Sunday July 27, 2014 at 4:30 AM at her residence in Greenville. Judy was born March 28, 1930 in Urbana, Ohio and the daughter of the late Robert R. and Rosina E. (Arrico) Rex.

Judy retired in 1992 as an employee with the Greenville National Bank for 20 years. She started her career with the Arcanum National Bank and continued through the transition to new ownership with Greenville National. Judy with her husband Bob traveled and became “snow geese” wintering 6 months in Ft. Myers, Florida and returning home in the summer to farm and tend to her beautiful flower garden. Judy was also an active member at the Potsdam Church of the Brethren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Honeyman June 22, 2009. They were married October 8, 1949. Also by a brother Lou Rex.

Judy is survived by sons and daughters in law Rick & Teresa Honeyman of Greenville, Robert Kirk and Laura Honeyman of Lebanon, Tenn.; daughter Pam Lani Honeyman of Brookville, Ohio; grandchildren Ryan E. Honeyman, Amy J. Honeyman and R. Kody Honeyman; great granddaughter Emily Tucker; sister Joan Porter of Florida and brother Dick Rex of Florida.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday July 31, 2014 in the Potsdam Church of the Brethren 22 East Cross Street Potsdam, Ohio with Rev. Bob Kurtz officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday 1 hour prior to the services in the church.

It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to Potsdam Church of the Brethren or Arcanum Rescue.

Carl Leo "Bud" Hawkey (July 23, 2014)

Carl Leo "Bud" Hawkey, 88, of New Madison, Ohio passed away on July 23, 2014 at Dayton Veterans Hospital. Bud was born on August 31, 1925 in Castine, Ohio to the late Earl and Viola (Hosbrook) Hawkey.

Bud was a Barber in West Manchester for 62 years. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and was the oldest living member of the American Legion Post 245 in New Madison. He and his wife, Juanita, organized the Air Force reunions. Bud enjoyed working on antique cars and tinkering in the garage. His biggest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends - Bud loved people.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Ward.

Bud is survived by his wife, Juanita (Lindamood) Hawkey of New Madison; a son, Dudley and Mary Hawkey of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Sharon and Mike Lehman of New Madison; four grandchildren, and five great, grandchildren.

A Veteran's Celebration of Life service will be held in Greenmound Cemetery on July 27, 2014 at 10:00 AM. The family request memorial contributions be given to Veterans Hospice, 4100 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45428, Building #320.

Betty Mae Brewer (July 23, 2014)

Betty Mae Brewer age 85, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Heartland of Greenville. Betty was born August 19, 1928 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Jerry & Edna (Smith) Gerber.

Betty is survived by a daughter & son-in-law, Barbara & Jerry Spencer of Greenville; grandchildren, Jeremy Spencer, Emily Thornhill, Shawna Hines, Steve Spencer and Chris Brewer; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, Daniel H. Brewer on July 18, 1989; sons, Daniel J. Brewer and Michael E. Brewer; grandson, Michael Mathew Brewer; and a sister, Wanda L. Besecker.

Betty retired from Neff Lettering in Greenville and formerly worked at the Darke County Home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home with Chaplain Candy Null officiating. H. Gene Dispennette (July 21, 2014)

H. Gene Dispennette, age 69 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Monday July 21, 2014 at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio surrounded by his family. He was born August 4, 1944 in Darke County, Ohio the son of the late Dale “Red” & Abby N. (Harris) Dispennette. He retired from Fram for 23 years. He served in the United States Army.

He was a member of the Greenville Eagles, V.F.W., American Legion, and Greenville Moose Lodge. He enjoyed Camping at Cozy Campgrounds and he loved boating.

He is preceded in death by his parents; great grandson: Jacob Magoto; brothers: John & Jim Dispennette; sisters: Judy Peek & Mary Jane Bard.

Jacqueline V. Barlage (July 20, 2014)

Jacqueline V. Barlage age 80, of Russia, Ohio passed away at 12:45 P.M. on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at her residence. Jacqueline was born August 25, 1933 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Clark & Gertrude (Brumbaugh) Kosier.

Jacqueline is survived by her husband, Edward F. Barlage whom she married May 5, 1961; children, Brian & Denise Barlage of Ft. Loramie, Lori & Jeff Alexander of Anna, Tim Barlage of Russia and Jeff Barlage of Versailles; grandchildren, Brandon Barlage, Austin Barlage, Brianna Barlage, Jenna Barlage, Brittney Alexander, Tricia Alexander, Devon Alexander, Courtney (Wes) Drees, Zachary Barlage and Joshua Barlage; great-grandchildren, Arian Drees and Ace Drees; sister, Joan Ross of Alexandria, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Betty Kosier of Greenville and Alice Kosier of Fairborn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jacqueline was also preceded in death by her brothers, Richard C. “Dick” Kosier and David Franklin Kosier; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Ross.

Jacqueline was a homemaker. She was a member of the Versailles Christian Church. Jacqueline loved to bake, work crossword puzzles, read, play cards and watch her grandchildren play sports.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Versailles Christian Church 105 West Ward Street Versailles with Pastor Dennis Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Remy Cemetery in Russia. Frieda Belle Landis (July 21, 2014)

Frieda Belle Landis, age 83 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 1:00 A.M. Monday July 21, 2014 at the Brethren Retirement Community of Greenville. She was born September 11, 1930 in Union City, Indiana and the daughter of the late Wendell and Virginia (Burkett) Williamson.

Frieda was retired from Farmers Home Administration of Greenville and attended the Faith Baptist Church also of Greenville. She also loved to garden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Wyvetta Surface.

Frieda is survived by her husband Robert G. Landis of Greenville. They were married July 27, 1957. Also a daughter and son in law Loreen and Larry Thompson of Pembroke, VA.; grandchildren Rebecca Thompson and Joshua Thompson; Sister Colleen Reynolds of Centerville, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday July 25, 2014 in the Germantown Cemetery 11179 West Market St., Germantown, Ohio followed by a Memorial Service at starting at 12 Noon in the Faith Baptist Church 740 Russ Road Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Bill Baker officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio.

Jerry L. “Fat Man” Rieman, Sr (July 19, 2014)

Jerry L. “Fat Man” Rieman, Sr., age 65, of New Harrison, Ohio, passed away early Saturday morning, July 19, 2014, at the Baton Rouge Health Services Community in Lima, Ohio.

He was born January 2, 1949, a son of the late Elmer and Annabelle (Armstrong) Rieman.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his son, John Richard Rieman.

Jerry worked at Leroi Dresser, in Sidney, Ohio, for 28 years

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Peggy (Valentine) Rieman; two children, Jerry (Kelly) Rieman of Gettysburg, Ohio and Ernestine (Robert) Kelly of Winchester, IN; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and 2 more on the way; three brothers, Gene (Marie) Rieman of New Weston, Ohio, Tom (Janet) Rieman of Rossburg, Ohio, Joe (Shirley) Rieman of Versailles, Ohio; one sister, Mary (Chris) Cox of Greenville, Ohio and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to the family to help with funeral expenses.

Millard H. Bowman (July 19, 2014)

Millard H. Bowman, 92, of Greenville and formerly of Rossburg, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 19, 2014, at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville.

He was born December 20, 1921 in Versailles, the son of the late Henry M. and Nola E. (Miller) Bowman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Millard H. Bowman, Jr.; and a foster son, Paul David Young.

Millard spent his life farming. He was a veteran of the US Air Force having served in the 317th Air Service Squadron. He was a member of the Ansonia First Church of God, the Gideon’s Society, DAV Chapter 57, VFW, and American Legion. He was also a former member of the Ansonia Board of Education and an honorary member of the Ansonia FFA.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruth E. “Ellie” (Campbell) Bowman, whom he married March 2, 1945; a daughter, Carol (Stan) Cox of Rossburg; granddaughter, Kristy Brewer; foster grandchildren, Denise Young-Schepis and Darin Young; step grandchildren, Lori (Scott) Billenstein, and Traci (Charlie) Hinshaw; several great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Campbell of Rossburg, Marlene (Lester) Ward and Karen (Duane) Mote all of Versailles; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 23, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, with Rev. Steve Shoop officiating. Burial with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

Martha G. Sartori (July 18, 2014)

Martha G. Sartori, age 85 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 12:15 A.M. Friday July 18, 2014 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 15, 1928 in Okemos, Michigan and the daughter of the late Lyle & Emily (Loree) Lyon.

She was a retired elementary teacher for the Northville Public Schools in Northville, Michigan.

She was preceded by her husband Raoul Sartori. Survivors—daughters Nina Sartori and Barbara Turner – Sons Doug Sartori, Steve Sartori and John Sartori.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, with Pastor Todd Reish officiating.

John S. “Jack” Campbell (July 17, 2014)

John S. “Jack” Campbell, 85, of Greenville, passed away Thursday evening, July 17, 2014 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

He was born September 9, 1928, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of the late William Glenn and Mildred Ann (Scott) Campbell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian A. “Ann” Campbell on August 21, 2011; 3 brothers, William, Robert, and James Campbell; and 2 sisters, Maribelle Vice and Margaret Carmody.

John had owned and operated Commercial Printing in Greenville. He was a Veteran of the US Army, having served from 1946 to 1950 as a Sergeant First Class. He was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church in Greenville, the American Legion, VFW, Eagles, Moose, and Elk’s all in Greenville.

He is survived by his children, Steve (Mary Beth) Campbell, Judy Petitto, Jeff Campbell, and Joan (Steve) Brandt; grandchildren, Michael and Jonathon Campbell, and Daniel (Samira) Brandt; 2 great granddaughters, Sara and Emily Brandt; a brother, Gary (Donna) Campbell; and sisters, Barbara Robinson, Mildred (Wayne) Allen, and Willa (John) Gibbemeyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jul 22, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Joe Soley officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Union Cemetery.

Rosalie Winhold (July 17, 2014)

Rosalie Winhold was born August 4, 1934, the 10th child, to Peter and Antje Derksen in the area of Zanesfield Ohio.

Her childhood was encapsulated by the depression and World War II, in which her family experienced the traumatic loss of her brother Pete, who was killed in action in the Navy.

She asked Jesus into her heart and became a Christian at the age of 15 with the assistance and advice of Mrs. Francis Huber (Aunt Franny, to all of us Winhold kids) She was Mom's dearest life-long friend and neighbor. Rosalie joined the Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, Ohio and she attended Bellefontaine High School.

In the mid-1950s Rosalie was accepted into Nyack Missionary College in Nyack, New York where she graduated and she initially felt God's plan for her was to be a young missionary. Then she met a dashing young Sailor, Don Winhold, who looked a lot like the young Frank Sinatra, she used to say. Don became her life-time friend, partner in sharing the gospel, and husband. They had an exquisitely unique relationship the rest of their lives.

Upon the end of the Korean War, Dad, Don Winhold, having completed his US Navy tour of duty, married Rosalie and also attended Nyack Missionary College where they had Laura Sue and Michael Winhold.

Rosalie had 2 more children, Michelle and William(Bill) becoming the imaginative mother and mentor of a house full of 4 children under the age of 5, while Dad, Don Winhold completed his BS Degree at Columbia Bible College, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Their Ministry together included the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Sioux City, Iowa, Trotwood Baptist Church, Trotwood, Ohio, 1st Baptist Church in Napoleon, Ohio, 1st Baptist Church in Azle, TX and 1st Baptist Church in Greenville, Ohio.

Rosalie was also an accomplished businesswoman as an award winning employment agency executive and insurance representative during the 1970s and 1980s.

Rosalie truly believed in education and ensured all 4 of her children attended University of the Cumberlands with Laura Sue and Michael graduating with BS Degrees and Laura Sue graduating with a Masters Degree from Tennessee Technological University.

Rosalie and Don made their next dream a reality by becoming the owners of the "SOLID ROCK ROLLER RINK" in Urbana, Ohio as a welcomed successful Urbana community ministry.

Upon retirement, Rosalie and Don enjoyed their favorite past-time "RV travel and camping". They thoroughly enjoyed this past-time with their sisters and brothers, children, grandchildren and friends.

Rosalie touched, blessed and changed many lives via her firm faith and encouragement to others.

She is survived by her brother Jake Derksen; Children: Laura Sue Gaines, Michael Winhold, Michelle Hopkins, and William(Bill) Winhold; six Grandchildren: Courtney Bowlds, Kirsten Gaines-Karpienya, Blake Winhold, Kristopher Winhold, Matthew Winhold; and Jonathon Winhold and Three Great Grandchildren: Cameron Mitchell McCaskill, Michael Andre Bowlds, and Colton Jase Winhold.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday July 18, 2014 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until time of the service in the funeral home.

Rosalie will be interred beside her husband Don at a later date.

Norma Fae Knick (July 14, 2014)

Norma Fae Knick, 90, of Greenville, passed away Monday evening, July 14, 2014, at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville.

She was born May 1, 1924, in Greenville Township, Darke County, the daughter of the late Karl James and Naomi Ellen (Clay) Knick. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen E. Schrader, and a brother, Ralph G. “Pete” Knick.

Norma had retired as the Darke County Auditor. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville, the first lady Auditor in Darke County, the first lady on the Wayne Hospital Board of Directors, a member of the advisory board for AAA, as well as being involved in numerous organizations as a member and board member, and was a recipient of numerous awards and citations. And she was a proud member of the Greenville High School class of 1942.

She is survived by her nephews, Dennis (Paula) Schrader, Daryl (Carolyn) Schrader, and Dale (Connie) Schrader; great nieces and nephews, Heather, Autumn, Christopher, Julie, Kate and Daniel Schrader, Michael (Adriann) Armocida, Tiffany Armocida; great-great nieces and nephews, Seth, Cody, Noah, Meghan, Logan, Leah and Hunter.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 131 E. 4th St., in Greenville, with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church Saturday, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to either Habitat for Humanity or the Darke County Parks District.

Arthur W. “Art” Olson (July 14, 2014)

Arthur W. “Art” Olson, age 89 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:06 P.M. Monday July 14, 2014 at his residence in Greenville. Art was born December 11, 1924 in Mahoning County Ohio and the son of the late Arthur S. and Gladys M. (Myers) Olson.

He was a licensed Insurance Agent starting the profession in 1976 and a Veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army.

Art was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, the Greenville Masonic Lodge and served as Master of the Lodge in 1983, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Dayton, Darke County Shrine Club, a former member of the Shrine Club Jeepsters, the Greenville Kiwanis Club and a 1950 graduate of The Ohio State University.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Rosemary (Neff) Olson May 29, 1996 and a grandson Luke Garbig.

Joe A. Strosnider (July 13, 2014)

Joe A. Strosnider, 63, of Ansonia, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 13, 2014, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

He was born March 19, 1951 in Darke County, son of Carlton W. “Sam” and Melissa L. (Reigle) Strosnider of New Weston.

Joe was retired from Cooper Farms n St. Henry and had attended the Teegarden Congregational Christian Church near Ansonia.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary F. (Nearon) Strosnider, whom he married May 6, 1972; children, Jennifer (Jim) Pryer of Portland, MI, John (Norma) Strosnider of Ansonia, and Julie (Robert) Case of Ansonia; grandchildren, Andrea, Mike, and Matt Pryer, Ashley Strosnider, Trenten, Mollie, and Hailie Case, Steven and Dylan Garland; great grandson, Ryker Garland; sisters, Susan DeRegnaucourt, Dixie Stone, and Amy (Rob) Kozak all of Ansonia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Eric Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the Teegarden Cemetery near Ansonia.

Dennis W. Walker age 69 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:57 P.M. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at his residence. Dennis was born on July 17, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John & Veronica (Glowiczk) Walker.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Petry) Walker whom he married July 31, 1969; children, Michael Walker of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jennifer Walker of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and David Walker of Phoenix, Arizona; step-brother, John Walker Jr. of Merrillville, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Gray of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Jeanette Petry of Greenville; godmother, Irene Kozlowski of Chicago, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He formerly worked at Corning in Greenville and retired in 2010 from Accutech in Coldwater.

Shelba J. Wilson age 67, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:04 P.M. on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at her residence. Shelba was born August 28, 1946 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Clarence & Mary K. (Gauby) Schafer.

Shelba is survived by her husband, Rex D. Wilson whom she married February 3, 1973; son, Rex D. Wilson II; daughter & son-in-law, April & Jeff Brocious of Arcanum; granddaughters, Jessica Brocious and Nicole Brocious; and a brother, Errol Schafer of Ansonia.

Shelba was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church in Greenville and a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Greenville. Shelba volunteered for the Greenville Chapter of Children’s Miracle Network Telethon for Dayton Children’s Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Ted McCurdy officiating. Carolyn M. Mobbs age 77, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 11:05 A.M. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. Carolyn was born January 21, 1937 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Rafe & Virginia (Rickman) Burden.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Sharon Ester of Greenville, Christina & Junior Harper of Missouri, Geraldine Hurd of Greenville, Timothy Hurd of Greenville and Ty Mobbs of Missouri; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister, Iowna McCowan of Muncie, Indiana.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was also preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Mobbs on October 4, 1985 whom she married on April 15, 1978; brothers, Kenneth, Harlen, Arthur, Richard and James Burden; and sisters, Juanita Camacho and Wanda Burden.

Carolyn was a homemaker. She formerly worked for Darke County Red Cross and Walmart in Greenville. Carolyn was a member of the First Assembly of God in Greenville. Carolyn organized and started the Better Breather’s Club in 2009. She was an avid book reader.

Donald J. “Don” Bernard, 73, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

He was born July 23, 1940 in Greenville, the son of the late Cletus Marion and Regina Bernice (Dirksen) Bernard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia A. (McClellan) Bernard on December 2, 2012.

Don was retired from Shrader’s in Greenville where he had worked for 41 years. He was a veteran of the US Army having served from 1963 to 1965 and was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville.

He is survived by his son, Christopher (fiancé, Aimee Barnett) Bernard of Mason; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Justin, Josh, Nicolle, and Cory; a brother, Kenneth (Norma) Bernard of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. John White officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Carolyn Kay Brumbaugh (July 9, 2014)

Carolyn Kay Brumbaugh, 73, of Ansonia, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville, Ohio.

She was born August 1, 1940, in Greenville, Ohio, a daughter of late Orville Edward and Etoile Marie (Brandt) Brumbaugh. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her long life companion, Rosie Buschur; brothers, Don, Gary, John, Bob Brumbaugh; and a sister, Phyliss Black.

Carolyn was a musician for over 50 years, played with the Good Ole Boys with most of the band being her brothers. She was retired from Marwell Products, and member of Coldwater Eagles and South Shore Sportsman Club of Grand Lake St. Marys.

She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 4 PM, Friday, July 18, at Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with the Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Burial will be at Harris Creek Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Reba G. Collins, 92, of Greenville, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 6, 2014 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

Reba was born February 5, 1922 in Darke County, the daughter of the late David Herbert and Imo Myrtle (Strait) Collins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Smith; and brothers, Rollie, Ray, Bill, and Reo Collins.

She was retired from Hobart Corp. where she had worked for several years.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 10, at the Chapel of the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville with Pastor Sylvia McKibben officiating. Burial will follow in the Teegarden Cemetery near Ansonia.

Charles Edwards “Chuck” Curtin (July 7, 2014)

Charles Edwards “Chuck” Curtin, 78, of Greenville, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 at his residence.

He was born March 30, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late James and Dorothy (Edwards) Curtin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher Michael Curtin, a brother and a sister.

Chuck was a small business owner for 35 years. He was a graduate of Niagara University, and had served as a First Lieutenant in Korea from 1958 to 1960. He loved sports and a good cigar.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jeanne (Terpolilli) Curtin, whom he married January 5, 1963; three daughters, Lisa (Todd) Campbell, Michelle (Robb) Sutton, and Jeanne (John) Marchal; 6 grandchildren, Melissa and Stephanie Campbell, Brandon and Brock Sutton, and Emily and Jack Marchal; a sister, Mary (Thomas) Klotz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 12, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville with the Rev. Fr. John White Celebrating. Private burial with full military honors will take place at a later date in the St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.

There will be no public visitation. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice, 1350 N. Broadway St., Greenville, OH 45331.

Aileen M. Powell age 86, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:38 P.M. on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Aileen was born March 2, 1928 in Franklin, Ohio to the late Warren Dellno Hensley & Sarah Jane (Tinch) Hensley Rose.

Aileen is survived by her children, Carol & Richard Henry of Sweetwater, Tennessee, Michael & Judi Powell of Greenville, Melody Swartz of Greenville and Rhonda Powell of Greenville; 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and sisters & brother-in-law, Marjorie Carpenter of Franklin and Evelyn & Owen Hensley of Middletown.

In addition to her parents, Aileen was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer Waldo Powell whom she married March 25, 1950; son, Thomas Darin Powell; daughter, Carla Wright; and sisters, Janet DeHart and Linda Sue Hensley in infancy.

Aileen was a homemaker and also formerly worked at Inland in Dayton and storm King in Miamisburg. She was a member of Ft. Jefferson United Methodist Church.

K. Gene “Joe” Rose (July 4, 2014)

K. Gene “Joe” Rose, age 78, of Ansonia, Ohio, passed away early Friday morning, July 4, 2014 at Versailles Health Care.

He was born May 17, 1936, in Darke County, Ohio, a son of the late Charles E Rose and Mary (Elliott) Straley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Thomas J. Rose in 2012 and a brother, Jack Rose.

Joe was a United States Army veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict spending a year in Korea. He served six years in active duty and in the reserves then devoted another 13 years to the Army National Guard. He worked at Triangle Pacific in Union City, IN for 42 years and attended the Beamsville Christian Church.

Joe leaves behind Joyce (Coblentz) Rose, his wife of 53 years whom he married on January 1, 1961; two children, William Alan Rose of Englewood, Ohio and Rebecca Lynn Rose of Greenville; a sister, Peggy Frazier of Richmond, IN; an Uncle, Delbert Elliott of Union City, IN; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held 11 AM, Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, with Pastor Steve Short officiating. Burial will follow in the Lisbon Cemetery in Union City, IN.

Delbert Paul Stuart (July 5, 2014)

Delbert Paul Stuart, 96 of Greenville, Ohio entered a great reunion in heaven on July 5, 2014 at the Brethren Retirement Community. He was born October 18, 1917 in Wells, New York, the son of the late Paul and Georgiana (Clouthier) Stuart. He worked for Pass & Seymour, Valor Enterprises as a salesman and Wayne Industries as a substitute supervisor. He was a member of Gideons International and spoke at several churches in the county. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of Trinity Wesleyan church in Greenville for 39 years and served on the board, as the custodian, and head usher.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 69 years Marjorie (Posson) Stuart on June 17, 2012, daughter Myrna Jean Stuart, brother Lloyd Stuart, sister Iona (Stuart) Wilson.

He is survived by his daughter: Pat (Steve) Longfellow, Greenville, Ohio. Grandchildren, Jeannie (Aaron) Reid, New London, Minnesota, Douglas (Kelli) Longfellow Greenville, Ohio : Six great-grandchildren, Gregory Reid, Daniel Reid, Jonathan Reid, Hope Reid, Aleta Longfellow, Valor Longfellow. Two brothers, Elwood Stuart, Greenville, Ohio and Everett Stuart, Wells, New York and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11am at Trinity Wesleyan Church, 1400 East Main Street Greenville, Ohio with Rev Robert Boyd and Rev David Vandenbergh officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Wayne E. Bertram (July 4, 2014)

Wayne E. Bertram, 84, of Greenville, Ohio, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on July 4, 2014. He was surrounded by family and friends in the final days of his life. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Sherman and Lois Bertram. Wayne, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 25, 1930, and raised in Monticello, Kentucky.

Wayne was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Camden, Ohio and was a strong believer in Christ. He accepted the Lord as Savior in July 1954, after hearing the sermon, “Payday Someday” by R.G. Lee.

Wayne spent his career working for the United States Postal Service, first as a clerk then as president of the Dayton Local of the American Postal Worker’s Union (APWU) until 1977. He then served as a National Business Agent for the APWU until 1995 when he retired.

Wayne is survived by his wife of more than 54 years, Edith Lamons Bertram, children Lesia Bertram, of Greenville, Ohio, Douglas (Catherine) Bertram, of Arcanum, Ohio and Leticia (Richard) Miller, of Greenville, Ohio. His grandchildren Ashley (Bertram) Todd and husband Brian, of Costa Rica, Elizabeth (Miller) Davis and husband Clint, of Wilder, Kentucky, Stacy (Bertram) Berry and husband Chris, of Fort Mitchell, Kentucky and Victoria Miller, of Greenville, Ohio, as well as one great-granddaughter, Emma Todd. He is also survived by three sisters Vera Burke, of Chrisney, Indiana, Loretta Catron, of Monticello, Kentucky, and Janice (Lawrence) Carrender, of West Chester, Ohio and brother Paul Bertram, of Monticello, Kentucky. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the radiology nurses of Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, State of the Heart Hospice of Darke County, Ohio as well as Dr. John Studebaker of Greenville, Ohio for their outstanding and compassionate care during Wayne’s illness.

There will be a service held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 12:00 PM at First Southern Baptist Church, 35 N. Liberty Street, Camden, Ohio, with Dr. Greg F. Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Abbottsville Cemetery at approximately 3:00 PM. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 4-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville as well as from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Wednesday at Church. Richard D. McClellan age 76, of Powell, OH passed away at 10:55 pm on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Richard was born on August 24, 1937 to the late Harold & Annabelle (Herrmann) McClellan.

Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joann (Berning) McClellan whom he married on May 30, 1964 in McCartyville, OH; son and daughter-in-law Richard “Rick” & Lisa McClellan of Powell; son and daughter-in-law Michael “Mike” & Gina McClellan of Humble, TX; daughter and son-in-law Melissa & Rick Piatak of Powell; grandchildren Mitchell McClellan, Jonathan McClellan, Brandon Piatak, Connor McClellan, Tyler McClellan, Evan Piatak, and Spencer McClellan.

In addition to his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by his sisters NormaLou (Ed) Zircher of Tucson, AZ and Patricia (Donald) Bernard of Greenville, OH.

Richard was a graduate of Versailles High School, Class of 1955. He served in the US Army from 1958-1959. He received his Certificate of Accounting from Edison State Community College in 1977 and received an Associate’s Degree in Materials Management from Sinclair Community College in 1990. He earned his Certification Degree in Purchasing from National Purchasing and Materials Management in 1985 as a Certified Purchasing Manager. He was elected to the National Association of Purchasing Management, Columbus Chapter in 1988 and served as President from 1993-1994. He received the highest award “The Hank Slauter Award” in 1998. He worked for Shrader’s Inc., Greenville, OH for 28 years in various roles including Operations and Purchasing Management. Richard was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville, OH and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He joined Bank One in Columbus, OH in 1987 as a Purchasing Manager and retired in 2000. Upon retirement, he spent several years working for J. E. Wiggins & Co. preparing annual tax returns.

He was an active parishioner of ST. JOAN OF ARC CATHOLIC CHURCH, 10700 Liberty Road, Powell, OH 43065 where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00a.m. on TUESDAY, JULY 8, 2014 with The Reverend James Black, Celebrant. A luncheon will follow the Mass. Burial will be held at 3:00p.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery, McCartyville, OH. She was born February 6, 1921 in Union City, IN, the daughter of the late William Merle and Sarah Ann (Cox) Lumpkin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Paul E. Long; a son, Paul Long, Jr.; a daughter, Lisa Reed; 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

A homemaker, Pauline had been a member of the former North Star Congregational Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Paulette (David) Hoke of Arcanum and Becky (Joe) Martin of Greenville; 6 grandchildren, Chris Hoke, Deanna Hamilton, Anne Marie Bailey, Sara (Teddy) Horne, Ben Reed and Doug (Beth) Martin; 8 great grandchildren, John and McKenna Bailey, Avery Horne, MacKynzie Reed and Bryson Canan, Derek (Sierra) Martin, Brittany and Tyler Martin; a brother, Harley Lumpkin of Union City, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Stelvideo Cemetery.

Paul N. Farley (June 29, 2014)

Paul N. Farley age 50, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 4:15 P.M. on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Wayne Health Care in Greenville. Paul was born December 20, 1963 in Dayton, Ohio to Janice (Pemberton) Farley of Dayton and the late Norman Stevens.

In addition to his mother, Paul is survived by his wife, Marcia Rice whom he married February 14, 1983; sons & daughter-in-law, Dustin & Cecelia Rice of Greenville and Jesse Rice of Greenville; granddaughter, Chelsi Rice; brother, Carl Jr. Rice of Dayton; and a sister, Kena McCalib of Washington.

In addition to his father, Paul was also preceded in death by a sister, Tina Rhinehart.

There will be no service. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville.

Dennis C. Dull (June 29, 2014)

Dennis C. Dull, age 70, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 11:11 PM at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.  He was born on September 11, 1943 in Pinehurst, North Carolina, to the late Jefferson L. & Miriam K. (Rhoades) Dull.

He is survived by his wife Rose (Bevins) Dull of Greenville, Ohio, whom he married on April 13, 1963; 3 children and their spouses, Chris & Sharon Dull of Denver, Sherri & Josh Norris of Arcanum and Craig Dull of Arcanum; grandchildren, Jessica, Megan, Lindsey, Zach, Hailey and Travis; brothers and sisters in law, Steve & Pam Dull of Greenville and David & LuAnn Dull of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sisters and brothers in law, Barbara & Mike Miller of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Katherine Eardly and life partner Alan Gribble of Zionsville, IN; brothers in law and sisters in law, Bill & Donna Hunter of Tipp City, Don & Melissa Bevins of Greenville, John & Deb Bevins of St. Cloud, Florida and Richard & Colleen Bevins of Arcanum; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother in law, Mark Eardly.

Dennis retired from General Motors.  He loved feeding birds, Sudoku Puzzles and most of all loved being with his grandchildren.

There will be a service held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with a burial immediately following.  Family will receive friends on Thursday 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Sandra (Poling) Worz (June 30, 2014)

Sandra (Poling) Worz, 78, of Wayne Lakes, passed away June 30, 2014 at Heartland of Greenville.

She was born July 2, 1935 in Palestine Ohio, daughter of the late William and Roma (Schlecty) Poling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, on December 6, 2013, by her husband, Dr. Joseph W. Worz whom she married June 26, 1965.

Sandra had worked as the office manager in her husband’s Chiropractic office.

She is survived by three daughters, Debbie (Kreg) Shane of Greenville, OH, Tammie (Kent) Wilcox of Hollansburg, OH and Sonnie (Paul) Tews of Orlando, FL; three step-sons, Joe (Janet) Worz of Ansonia, OH, Kevin (Jeannie) Worz of St. Augustine, FL and Danny Worz of Greenville, OH; grandchildren, Kerby (Beth) Wilcox, Kory (Andrea) Wilcox, Matthew (Christina) Shane, Rhodey (Macie) Shane, Mollie (Adam) Schlechty and Elizabeth Tews; step-grandchildren, Michelle (Duane) Deeds and Ian Worz, Elijah Worz, Tory Nemecheck; and 10 great grandchildren and one on the way.

Family will receive friends for both Sandy and Joe, Monday, July 14, 2014 at Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville from 12PM to 2 PM. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Ft. Jefferson.

Herbert “Hip” King (June 27, 2014)

Herbert “Hip” King, age 97, of Miamisburg, Ohio, formerly of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 12:50 AM at his residence. He was born on January 3, 1917 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late James Wallace King & Elizabeth Rebecca (Ardinger) King.

He is survived by his wife, D. June (Cashman) King of Greenville, Ohio, whom he married on January 1, 1943; daughter and son-in-law, Pam & Andre Brand of Springfield, Ohio; son and daughter- in-law, Jim & Karen King of Springboro, Ohio; grandchildren, Amy & Matt Hazelbaker, Andy & Pam King, Zac & Connie King and Jennifer Sizemore; 12 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marlene Cashman of Centerville, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his grandson, Nick Brand; 4 sisters and 2 brothers.

Hip retired in 1989 as a sales rep. for Sanco Products of Greenville, where he had worked for 30 years and also had managed the Cabinet Shop for 14 years at Greenville Lumber Co. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army Air Corp. He was a charter member of the Greenville High School Athletic Hall of Fame and was also a member of the Elks Lodge, the VFW, the Liars Club and the YMCA. Hip was the 1936 Ohio High School state champion in the high hurdles and still holds the school record for the long jump at Greenville High School. As an honor to him, the Hip King Award was established and is given yearly to the top track athlete in Darke County. Hip was an avid sportsman and most of all a wonderful husband, father and family man.

A service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 2:30 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, 1499 N. Broadway, Greenville, Ohio, with Mr. Gary Brand officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. There will be a Graveside Military Service conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.

John Frank Taylor (June 26, 2014)

John Frank Taylor, 81 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Thursday June 26, 2014 at Physicians Regional Medical Center, Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born April 22, 1933 in Williamsburg, Kentucky the son of the late John S. & Grace (Bryant) Taylor. He worked for Hinton Construction in Celina for 17 years. He was a member of Church of God Mountain Assembly in Greenville, Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Margaret (Teague) Taylor on September 5, 2012 whom he married November 24, 1951; daughter: Brenda K. Taylor; granddaughter: Amanda Sue Taylor; grandson; Jeffrey Wayne Burkhart; great grandson; Jazen Leon Whalen; brothers: Archie, Clifford, Charles Ray, Chester, & Wayne Taylor; sisters: Aline Bunch, Lola Satterfield, & Lorine Taylor.

He is survived by his sons & daughter in law: Homer Taylor of Greenville, & Ricky & Ann Taylor of Greenville; daughters & sons in law: Ava & Jeff Burkhart of Greenville, Madonna & Ed Lease of Greenville, Theresa & Tom Boseke of Greenville, & Margie Taylor of Hollansburg, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; brothers & sister in law: Glen & Dixie Taylor of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Denny Taylor of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky; sisters & brothers in law: Alma Raines of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Ethel Morris of Richmond, Kentucky, Wilma Martin of Richmond, Kentucky, Lois & Russell Carr of Concord, NC, Flora & Roy Teague of Greenville, Ohio; numerous nieces & nephews.

Services will be held on Tuesday July 1, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Rev Willard Cole and Rev Dennis Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday June 30, 2014 and 1 hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
