Eleanor “June” Holloway (July 28, 2015)

Eleanor “June” Holloway, 87, of Greenville, OH, passed away on July 28, 2015 at Heartland of Greenville.

She was born March 31, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of the late Goldie (Leffler) Richards. In addition to her mother, June was preceded in death by her step-father, Herbert Richards and her sisters Joan Crawford and Susie McKeller.

June moved from New Carlisle to Greenville in 2014 with her husband of 68 years, Carl Holloway. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Dayton and worked as a long distance telephone operator for Ohio Bell and later as a beautician in Huber Heights. June enjoyed being a homemaker, Cub Scout den mother and wife through the years.

She is survived by her husband Carl, who retired from Dayton Reliable Tool. Also survived by her children, Edward (Margaret) Holloway, Karen (Earl) Freeman-Lang, Douglas (companion Linda) Holloway and Carla (companion Joe) Monnin. June has six grandchildren, Timothy and Lisa Holloway, Tamara Cary, Shawn Armstrong, Aimee and Nicholas Monnin. She also has five great grandchildren, Chantel, Amanda and Sarah Holloway, Samuel and Adam Cary and her sister Delores Wooster.

Services will be held at the Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 West Third Street, Dayton, OH, 2PM Monday, August 3, 2015. Burial will follow in the Dayton National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, from 9:30AM until 11AM at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway St., Greenville, Ohio.

Lloyd E. Rogers (July 27, 2015)

Lloyd E. Rogers age 82, of Arcanum, Ohio passed away at 2:29 A.M. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Lloyd was born June 19, 1933 in Preble County, Ohio to the late Roy F. & Ada B. (Petry) Rogers.

Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Janice (House) Rogers whom he married February 23, 1957; daughters & sons-in-law, Denise & Tim Miller of Greenville, Cherie & Jeff Jobes of Arcanum and Peggy & Steve Ristau of Arcanum; grandchildren, Megan Miller & fiancée, Evan Jackson, Manda & Chris Jones, Tyler & Melinda Jobes, Tessa Jobes, Shelby & Justin Rowland, Savanah Anderson & fiancée, Clay Stickley, Sydney Anderson and Ricci & Mike Bailey; great-grandchildren, Joey Bailey, Mia Bailey, Evie Bailey, Gavin Jones and one expected great-grandson, Owen; sister, Norma Bruscato of Sun City, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Lloyd was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Bailey.

Lloyd was a lifelong farmer and a Butler Township Trustee for 16 years. Lloyd formerly worked at Arcanum Hardware. Lloyd was a member of Castine Church of the Brethren. Lloyd enjoyed camping and he belonged to several RV Clubs. He was a supporter of the Darke County Fair.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Castine Church of the Brethren 624 US RT 127 Arcanum, Ohio with Pastor Gary Cloyd and Bill House officiating. Burial will follow in Castine Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the church. Ralph W. Mayo, Jr. (July 25, 2015)

Ralph W. Mayo, Jr., 83, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

He was born August 5, 1931 in Osgood, Ohio, a son of the late Ralph Francis and Marjorie (Bohman) Mayo. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death, on November 29, 2012, by his wife, Betty (Hesson) Mayo whom he married February 3, 1951; a daughter, Diane Mayo.

Ralph started out in farming, had worked sometime in his life at Frigidaire in Dayton, Smith Chevrolet in Rossburg, Red’s Service in Ansonia, Carl Subler Trucking in Versailles for over 20 years, T & M Auto Parts in Ansonia, and retired as a manager at NAPA Auto Parts in Versailles. He was a secretary for over 30 years for the FOPA, on the board of trustees for the Rossburg Fire Department and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown. Ralph also volunteered at the Grace Food Pantry and was a supporter of the Southeastern Guide Dogs Inc.

He is survived by his children, Deborah (John) Kremer of Ft. Loramie, Ralph David (Anita) Mayo of Ringgold, GA, Douglas (Darlene) Mayo of Lewisburg, Dennis (Tracy) Mayo of Arcanum, Denise (Rick) Lee of Ansonia, Timothy Mayo of Lisle, IL, and Teresa (Scott) Amspaugh of Ansonia; grandchildren, Brad, Jessica, and Nicole Baker, Jacob Kremer, Kelly, Cory, Zach, Clint, Jake, and Kyndall Mayo, Erin and Justin Lee, Emelia Hammons and Mindy Cockerham; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brothers and sisters, Richard (Sharon) Mayo of Greenville, Ron (Rita) Mayo of Greenville, Patricia (Robert) Epperly of Greenville, Sharon (Bill) Haas of Celina; special friend, Sue House; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 31 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown with Fr. Jim Simons celebrating. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery, Frenchtown.

Terry L. Townsend (July 25, 2015)

Terry L. Townsend, age 68, of Celina, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 10:45 PM at his residence. He was born on August 10, 1946 in Darke County, Ohio, to Marjorie (Beanblossom) Townsend of Greenville and the late Bill Townsend.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Grote) Townsend of Celina, Ohio, whom he married on January 24, 1971; sisters and brothers in law, Gail & John Smith of Arcanum, Ohio, and Christine & Paul Roska of Saint Cloud, Florida; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father.

Terry enjoyed woodworking, yard work and reading his Bible. He was a member of the United States Air Force and retired from Fram after over 30 years of service.

There will be a service held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with David Barnette officiating. Burial will follow. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Dorothy M. Turner (July 24, 2015)

Dorothy M. Turner, age 89, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11:00 AM at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on November 10, 1925 in Ft. Wayne, IN, to the late Leo & Minetta (Young) Roth.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Nancy Stolberg of Boise, ID, Dennis & Nancy Turner of Woodruff, Wisconsin, Gail & Jim Snyder of Greenville, Joyce & Art Price of Piqua, Gary & Candice Turner of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Janet & Dave McClanahan of Seminole, Florida, and Peggy & Jeff Heinze of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; 18 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister in law, Roberta Roth of Ft. Wayne, IN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by husband, Duane Turner whom she married on August 23, 1945; daughter, Judy Turner; and brothers, James Roth and William Roth; sister, Jeannie Wright and son in law, Bob Stolberg

Dorothy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and was involved in the Rosary Altar Society. She was a volunteer at Hospice and played the harmonica for the Hospice band. She worked at Fram Corporation, Big ‘D’s Printing and Eikenberry’s IGA and was well known for being Chuckles the Clown.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 233 West 3rd St., Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. Ron Haft celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9-10 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville.

Robert Orvin Birt (July 12, 2015)

Robert Orvin Birt, 52, of Greenville passed away, Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville, OH.

He was born November 10, 1962, in Bellefontaine, OH, a son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Meyer) Birt.

Robert had worked as a carpenter and a certified building inspector. He enjoyed being in the sun and spending time with nature along with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Billi Sue (McGuffie) Birt; children, Bethanie (Chris) Wick, Madison Birt and Robert Mitchell Birt; one granddaughter, Rayne Wick; 1 brother, David Michael Birt; mother and father-in-law, William and Carol McGuffie; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Kelly McGuffie, John and Celena McGuffie, Phillip and Allison McGuffie, Dale and Autum (McGuffie) Buckner, Michael and Robin (McGuffie) Jankowski; and many nieces and nephews.

Waldo F. “Wally” Bartram (July 10, 2015)

Waldo F. “Wally” Bartram age 68, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at suddenly at 9:40 P.M. on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Houghton Lake, Michigan while vacationing with his family. Wally was born July 14, 1946 in Danbury, Connecticut to the late Basil K. & Dorothy (Arlich) Bartram.

Wally is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Darlene A. (Bey) Bartram whom he married June 6, 1975; sons & daughters-in-law, Gunnar Michael Bartram of Sidney, Ohio, Bryan Steven & Amy Bartram of Versailles, Ohio and Lance Fairfield & Kari Bartram of Liberty, Indiana; grandchildren, Zachary, Hayden, Ayla, Alayna, Lucy & Camry Bartram; brothers & sisters-in-law, Bart & Dorothy Bartram of New Milford, Connecticut, David Bartram of Hartford, Connecticut and Bill & Ann Bartram of Miami, Florida; sisters & brother-in-law, Sharon Bartram of New York and Nona & Tony Talerical of Schroon Lake, New York; father-in-law, Wilmer J. Bey of Versailles; brother-in-law, Steven L. Bey & Rhonda Poling of Versailles; close relatives, Phil Stutz and family of Rossburg, Ohio and Bob Stutz of Rossburg, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Wally was also preceded in death by his sisters, Florence Oberstat, Betty LeClair and Dorothy Stock; and mother-in-law, Phyllis J. (Stutz) Bey.

Wally served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V, Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with a Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Purple Heart Medal with a Bronze Star. Wally was a retired truck driver.

Sheila R. Slauter (July 17, 2015)

Sheila R. Slauter age 52, of Celina and formerly of Greenville passed away at 6:40 P.M. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Celina Manor. Sheila was born November 17, 1962 in Greenville to Kenneth Shiverdecker of Greenville and the late Janet (Leeper) Shiverdecker.

In addition to her father, Sheila is also survived by her husband, Butch Slauter whom she married August 20, 1998; daughters & sons-in-law, Laci & Willis Yaney of Arcanum and Brandi & Rob Byram of Ansonia; grandchildren, Michael Byram, Makynna Byram, Bailey Yaney and Brooklyn Yaney; brother, Brian Shiverdecker of Greenville; and nieces, Katelyn, Jesica and Christina Shiverdecker.

Sheila was a security guard at BASF in Greenville for 21 years.

Paul A. Krager age 97, of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Rochester, Michigan passed away at 4:30 P.M. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Oakley Place in Greenville. Paul was born November 18, 1917 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Albert & Margaret (Riley) Krager.

Paul is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Lynn & Jerry Starks of Greenville; grandson, Daniel & Tibby Starks of Orlando, Florida; sister, Dorothy Sadlak of Bay City, Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Paul was also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Madeline Louise (Hierlihy) Krager (1940-1976); 2nd wife, Edith Joan (Sanford) Krager (1977-2008); brothers, Carl, James, Earl, Norman and Roy Krager; and sisters, Margaret Portte and Freda Patrick.

Paul served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and U.S. Air Force during WWII in the 52nd Fighter Group-5th Fighter Squadron. Paul retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Sr. Master Sgt. with 22 years of service at Chanute Air Base in Rantoul, Illinois in 1962 where he was a recruiter and photographer. He also retired from Rochester High School in Rochester, Michigan in 1978 where he taught electronics. Paul was a member of the Greenville American Legion Post # 7262 and Greenville Moose. Paul enjoyed photography, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Oakley Place in Greenville with Chaplain Candy Null officiating. Robert E. Gibbons age 92, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 3:10 A.M. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. Robert was born May 26, 1923 in New Weston, Ohio to the late Ervin “Bobo” & Ermile (Metzcar) Gibbons.

Robert is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Jeff & Angela K. Gibbons of Greenville; grandchildren, Stephanie & Hayes Hubbs and Richard & Vanessa Gibbons; great-grandchildren, Brittany Hubbs, Kayla Hubbs, Ryan Hubbs, Makenzie Gibbons and Elli Gibbons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by his wife, Norma J. (Mikesell) Gibbons; brother, Ralph Gibbons; and sisters, Gladys Poffenbarger and Thelma Morris.

Ralph served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from General Motors in Dayton and worked in security part-time at the Brethren Retirement Community. Robert was a member of the Greenville V.F.W.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens in Darke County with Military graveside services conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard. Barbara Jean Justice (July 14, 2015)

Barbara Jean Justice, 83, of Arcanum, passed away Tuesday evening, July 14, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.

She was born June 14, 1933 in Dayton, daughter of the late Francis and Martha Sue (Shafer) Flaugher. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Herman Justice; second husband, Howard Warden; 2 sisters; and a brother.

Barbara owned and operated Paws Prints Grooming Salon in Dayton.

She is survived by her children, Ronald Justice, Deborah Benner, and Terri Kitchen; and two grandchildren, Danielle and Dakota Benner.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 20, at the Abbottsville Cemetery.

There will be no public visitation.

Arrangements have been entrusted with the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville.

James S. Willey (July 9, 2015)

James S. Willey, age 60, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the VA Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

Jim was born on Sept. 22, 1954, to the (late) Bette (Bingham) Willey and was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Michael and Jack Willey.

Jim is survived by his sister, Terri (Hunt) Ashby; his two sons, Michael Lantz (son with the late Cristi Lantz) and Mathew Willey (son with Kim Willey); two granddaughters, Kallie and Macia; and other relatives and friends.

Jacqueline J. Riffell Marshall age 88, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 10:25 P.M. on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. Jacqueline was born January 23, 1927 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Elmer & Garnet (Hayes) Warner.

Jacqueline is survived by her daughter, Sharon Maloy of Greenville; sons & daughters-in-law, Jerry J. & Brenda Riffell of Ansonia and Rick R. & Darlene Riffell of Arcanum; grandchildren, Rusty Maloy, Mark Maloy, Jerimiah Riffell, Christopher Riffell, Chad Riffell and Ryan Riffell; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Jacqueline was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Russell Riffell; great-grandson, Avery Justin Maloy; and brothers, Dean & Ted Warner.

Jacqueline retired from Union City Hospital where she was a purchasing agent.

Rosella M. Shepherd Hill, 68 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Saturday July 11, 2015 at 9:40 PM at her residence. She was born May 12, 1947 in Darke County, Ohio to daughter of Doris (Fourman) Ward of Greenville and the late Clifford Ward. She retired from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office where she worked as a Corrections Officer then she was a cafeteria worker for Greenville City Schools. She was a 25 year member of the Ladies of the Moose.

She is preceded in death by her father; her 1st Husband: David Eugene Shepherd in 1993; 2nd husband: Edward Hill in 2014.

She is survived by her mother; her son: Kent Shepherd of Greenville; grandson: Justin Shepherd (Kayla Metzner) of Greenville; great grandchild: Ezra Shepherd; brother & sister in law: Gene & Dolores Ward of Denison, Texas; Niece & Nephew; and many good friends.

Services will be held on Thursday July 16, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Sonny Petry officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Lessel Joyce (Tuthill) Ward, 97, of Greenville, passed away on July 7, 2015 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. Lessel was born on June 20, 1918 in Preble County, Ohio to the late William and Laura (Price) Tuthill.

Lessel worked as a hair stylist and Beautician at the Brethrens Retirement Community in Greenville. She was a graduate of Jackson High School in Preble County and had a college degree in Cosmetology.

Lessel is survived by her husband of 73 years, Harry L. Ward of Greenville, two daughters, Nina French of Greenville, Ohio and Marty and the late Terry Dale of Sidney, Ohio; grandchildren, Jamey and Cheyenna French of Las Vegas, Nevada and Ashley Dale of Charlotte, NC; great grandchild, Cameran Dale of Charlotte, NC..

Finfrock, James Robert (April 24th, 2015)

Finfrock, James Robert age 88 of Las Vegas NV, passed away April 24th, 2015. He was born on June 18th,1926 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Merle & Lorene (Lotz) Finfrock. He was preceded in death by a son John, a grandson Matthew, and his sister Judith Campbell of Tipp City, OH.

He served in the Navy during WWII.

Mr. Finfrock is survived by his long time friend Hazel Traylor, his sons; James Jr of Goodyear AZ; Jeff of Ohio; Jerry of CA; nephew Douglas Campbell of Dayton, OH; and niece Judith Diane Nichols of Tipp City.

Stephen R. Everhart, 65, of Greenville, passed away Saturday morning, July 4, 2015 at his residence.

A memorial service with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 11, at the American Legion Hall in Greenville.

The family will receive friends at the American Legion, Saturday from 2:30 p.m. till 3 p.m.

Joan Benedict, age 69, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at 4:44 AM at Kindred Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was born on January 14, 1946 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Albert Earl & Hattie Catherine (Wion) Weyant.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dale & Karen Benedict of Covington, Faith Wray of Laura, Joel & Tara Benedict of Covington, Jeremy & Michelle Benedict of Versailles and Nevin Benedict of Versailles; grandchildren, Andre, Ian, and Izeke Benedict; Hannah, Corbin, Carly, Brendan, and Reuben Wray; Tristen, Tori Mae, and Asia Benedict; Rae Lynn, Shane, Alexia, Jo and Elsi Benedict; foster children, Ron Johns of California and Brady Johns of Kentucky; brother and sister in law, Gene & Wanda Weyant of Troy, life long friend, Phyllis Buckingham of Greenville; step mother in law, Julia Hess of PA; sisters in law & brothers in law, Fay & Lester Frey of PA, Floyd Denlinger of Brookville, Joan & Carl Helman of PA, Lois Flora of Covington, Mae Emig of Eaton, Crist & Mary Beth Benedict of Covington and Keith & Sharon Benedict of PA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by husband, Mark Hess Benedict; son in law, Russell Wray; sister in law, Edna Denlinger and brother in law, Eldon Flora.

Joan was a member of the Bethel German Baptist Brethren Church. She was a homemaker and for several years operated a catering business and later owned a fabric store.

There will be a service held on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Oakland Church of the Brethren with the Home Brethren officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 1-5 and 6-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Julie Rene Sprowl (July 3, 2015)

Julie Rene Sprowl, 35, of Greenville, Ohio passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at her residence.

She was born February 15, 1980 in Greenville Ohio, a daughter of Tim Sprowl of Greenville and Carolyn (Silknitter) Sprowl of Arcanum.

Julie was devoted to her children, a very caring and giving person, loved to write to people and poetry. She was homemaker, loved nature and attended EUM Church in Greenville.

She is survived by her children, Jordan Badger and Viola Hillderbrand; a brother Nathan Sprowl of Arcanum OH; grandparents, Carl and Donna Silknitter of Union, OH and Edith Sprowl of Greenville OH.

Services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, July 11 at the EUM Church, Downtown Campus with Pastor Sylvia McKibben officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Englewood, OH.

The family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 10 AM till the time of service.

Martin Delano “Marty” Waldren (July 3, 2015)

Martin Delano “Marty” Waldren, age 80, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 4:25 AM at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. He was born on September 14, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Peter & Icye (Thompson) Waldren.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Virginia “Jeni” (Baker) Waldren; daughter, Susan Williams; son, Scott (Sue) Waldren; grandchildren, Courtney Spencer, Jared (Brianna) Waldren and Andrea Waldren; great grandchildren, Cameron Barga, Andrew Spencer and Benjamin Taylor; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was a kind and gentle man and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters and their spouses, Louise and Roy Hilterbran, Drusilla and Troy Smith and Myrna and Eugene Moorman.

He was a 1952 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Dayton. He worked as a lithographer for 40 years at Otterbein Press Which later became United Color Press. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping and swimming. He was very artistic and loved music. He coached girls softball for several years. He worked for Dayton Daily News after his retirement from the printing trade as well as Fitzwater Tree and Lawn Care. He loved his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

There will be a service held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Eric Fee officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.

It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice or Brethren Retirement Community Resident Aid Fund.

Doris Opal Harnish (July 2, 2015)

Doris Opal Harnish, age 78 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:30 P.M. Thursday July 2, 2015 at the Rest Haven Nursing Home Greenville, Ohio. Doris was born June 29, 1937 in Darke County Ohio and the daughter of the late Joseph Dale “Ted” and Edna (Byrum) Harnish.

She had formerly worked as a switchboard telephone operator for United Telephone Company, a 12 year employee of General Athletic, 18 year employee as a secretary at Hobart Brothers of Troy, and retired in 1999 from a job she loved as head of overdue books at the Greenville Public Library.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Melvin Eugene Harnish and her sisters Roma Jean Harnish and Maxine Naomi Harnish.

Doris is survived by her brother Paul Dale Harnish of Greenville.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday July 7, 2015 in the Lisbon Cemetery Union City, Indiana with Pastor Terry Haworth officiating. There will be no public visitation.

Mary Jo Davenport (July 1, 2015)

Mary Jo Davenport, 79, formerly of New Weston, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Versailles Healthcare Center.

She was born June 17, 1936 in Georgetown, OH, daughter of the late Edgar E. and Elizabeth (Mabes) Quinlan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Davenport, a sister, Patricia Quinlan; a brother, Tom Quinlan; and a half-sister, Eloise Lytle.

She is survived by her brother, James M. (Donna) Quinlan; and several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

There will be no public visitation. Mary requested that memorial contributions be given to the American Heart Association.

Paul B. Peters (July 1, 2015)

Paul B. Peters, 94, of Ansonia, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at his residence.

He was born October 8, 1920, in Darke County, OH, a son of the late Charles and Sue (McDonald) Peters. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen F. (Hopper) Peters whom he married September 7, 1946, and who passed on March 9, 2012; brothers, Ronnie Peters, Dick Peters and Hubert Laberman.

Paul was retired from New Idea in Coldwater, OH, a farmer, veteran of the US Army Air Corps serving in WWII and very proud to have served his country. He had been an insurance agent for over 30 years, was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge and Ansonia Grange. Early in his career he had a small grocery store in Dawn, ran a Huckster route, coached little league and was an avid fair goer.

He is survived by his sons, Robert L. (Donna) Peters of Ansonia and Gene (Shelley) Peters of Arcanum; grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Brandt, Dawn Barnette, Scott (Cathy) Peters, Jesse (Stacy) Peters, Anne (Nathan) Rammel, and Sara (Jake) Menzie; great grandchildren, Jadyn and Kyra Brandt, Cameron Barnette, Collin, Ellen, and Emma Peters, Wyatt, Luke, Trey, and Clair Rammel, Mora, Bohdan, Pete and Shepard Menzie, Colby and Trevor Peters; brothers, Roger (Virginia) Peters and Larry Peters; sisters, Linda Greene and Peggy Davis; sisters-in-law, Patricia L. (Ralph) Pottkotter, Myrna Detling and Carol (Jim) Hart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, OH with Eric Fee officiating. Burial will follow in the Teegarden Cemetery near Ansonia OH.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5 PM to 7 PM. Masonic Lodge will have a service at 6:45 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Southwest Ohio Chapter Hosbrook Road, Suite 314 Cincinnati, OH45326-2989 and the State of the Heart Hospice.
