Judith D. Hawkey (September 20, 2015)

Judith D. Hawkey, age 68 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 9:16 P.M. Sunday September 20, 2015 at the Rest Haven Nursing Home Greenville, Ohio.  She was born October 14, 1946 in Greenville, Ohio and the daughter of the late Donna M. (Linder) Campbell.

Judith was the former owner of Bill Hawkey and Associates of Greenville.  She enjoyed crafts, sewing and knitting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bill G. Hawkey October 15, 2005.

Judith is survived by her brothers Gene (Donna) Campbell of Lexington, KY., Gerald Campbell of Greenville, Joe Campbell and friend Cindy of Centerville, John (Barbara) Campbell of Fairborn and Richard “Butch” Campbell of Ansonia as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Private Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Greenville Township Memorial Garden with Pastor Ron Hoeksema officiating.  Funeral arrangement by Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio.

Waldo Lee Fine (September 21, 2015)

Waldo Lee Fine, 94 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Versailles, Ohio passed away on Monday September 21, 2015 at 1:50 PM at the Brethren Retirement Community. He was born July 13, 1921 in Miami County, Ohio the son of the late Maurice & Mellie (Cudy) Fine. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked at Hobart Brothers in Troy for 45 years where he worked as a group leader and had many inventions while working there; he also was a farmer.

He was a member of Webster United Methodist Church; Wayne Grange, Versailles Masonic Lodge # 290 where he was a past master; he enjoyed the outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother: Carl Fine; sisters: Cora Ellen Bryant, Bettie Fine.

He is survived by his wife: Beulah J. (Rahm) Fine of Greenville whom he married June 15, 1946; son & daughter in law: David & Cheryl Fine of Arcanum; daughters & sons in law: Diane & Cliff Sickles of Norton Shores, Michigan, Deborah & Tom Wilson of Grandview, Missouri; grandchildren & spouses: Michelle & Kevin Flory, Jeremy & Tiffany Fine, Andrea & Scott Drier, Natalie Wilson, Erica & Byron Wheeler, Valerie Wilson; great grandchildren: Grant & Lauren Flory, Tessa & Addison Fine, Julia & Christopher Drier; brother & sister in law: Dick & Mary Fine of Piqua; sister: Mary Lou Stoeckel of Minneapolis, Minnesota; ½ brother: Scott Fine of Piqua; numerous nieces & nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday September 26, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio with Pastor David Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday September 25, 2015 and 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home. A Masonic Memorial service will be conducted by the Versailles Masonic Lodge on Friday at 7:45 PM. Veterans Graveside services will be conducted by the Versailles Veterans Honor Guard. Leila May Grote (September 20, 2015)

Leila May Grote, 85, of Greenville, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Saviors, Jesus Christ, Sunday, September 20, 2015 at State of the Heart Hospice Center.

She was born May 20, 1930 in Perrysburg, Ohio, a daughter of the late Rev. Fred J. and Treva Reed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Reed; sisters, Berneta Brownell and Wilberta Starr.

Leila assisted her, husband, Ted in his lifetime career in Ted Grote Photography business on North Broadway painting color backgrounds for portraits as well as answering the phone. She also had worked in several retail establishments in Greenville while she was in High School as well as after her marriage. She was a graduate of Greenville High School, attended Edison College in Piqua, Ohio where she studied music and attended photography painting school in Warsaw, IN. She was an accomplished organist, pianist and singer and loved to sing in the choir and other groups. She was a member of First Congregational Christian Church in Greenville. Leila has been in Rest Haven for the last nine months with her husband. She is noted for her ever loving smile and singing YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE at the home. “What will be will be” as her favorite saying at the home. Her favorite TV program was the Gaithers. Together Ted and Leila enjoyed traveling and camping as well as being a dog lover.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ted Grote of 66 year, whom she married in 1949; a sister, Mary Dierks of Toledo, OH; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2PM Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1PM till the time of service. The family request in the lieu of flowers memorials to be given to the State of the Heart Hospice.

John Lewis Magoto (September 18, 2015

John Lewis Magoto age 78, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 10:43 P.M. on Friday, September 18, 2015 at his residence. John fought a 6 year battle against Wegner’s. John was born December 15, 1936 in Frenchtown to the late Leander & Alma (Bey) Magoto.

John is survived by his wife of 57 years, B. Joan (Welker) Magoto whom he married February 24, 1958; sons , Wayne Magoto of Piqua and Bruce  Magoto of Versailles; daughters & son-in-law, Sharon Jones of Fletcher, Deb Smith of Greenville and Diana & James Subler of Versailles; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brothers & sisters-in-law, Kenneth & Diane Magoto of New Bremen and Robert & Diane Magoto of Versailles; sisters & brothers-in-law, Marilyn & Larry Smith of Granville, Myrna & Larry Rue of Versailles and Sarah Magoto of Versailles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Lee Magoto; great-grandson, Matthew Smith; sister, Johanna (Magoto) Brown; brothers-in-law, Gene Brown and Melvin Welker; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bryant and Lorene Welker.

John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict with the 101st Airborne Division. John retired with over 50 years in the trucking industry in which he was known as being one of the best diesel mechanics in the area. John along with his wife owned and operated Rustic Hill Market. John was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. James Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery in Frenchtown with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. James "Jim" Waymire (September 19, 2015)

James "Jim" Waymire, 80 , of New Madison, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on, September 19, 2015. Jim was born on August 26, 1935 in Pendleton, Indiana to the late James and Eleanor (Corrie) Waymire.

Jim was a 1954 graduate of New Madison High School, a member of the Darke County Shrine Club, Fort Black Masonic Lodge #413 where he was a Past Master, Eastern Star #336, and a member of the Antioch Shrine where he was a Jeepster. He was also a member of the Castine Church of the Brethren and the Darke County Fish and Game Club.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his son, Jimmy and a daughter, Brenda.

Jim is survived by his wife, Dora J. (Darland) Waymire of New Madison, Ohio; son, Jeff and Kathi Waymire of New Madison, Ohio; daughters, Jill and Dave Shives of Greenville, Ohio and Jenny and Jim Crist of Union City, Indiana; Grandchildren, Melissa and Daniel Snyder, Heather and Walter Brown, Clint Shives, Ashley and Dustin Yount, Dustin Waymire and Rachel Crist; great grandchildren, Kiara, Jared, Hunter, Isaac, Blake and Bethany; brother, Michael Waymire of New Madison and many friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Castine Church of the Brethren with Rev. Greg Hyre officiating. Carrie J. Carter age 82, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 9:15 A.M. on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Carrie was born April 10, 1933 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Amos & Nellie (Pierson) Orrison.

Carrie is survived by her son, Kenneth D. Carter & fiancé, Mary Ann Kniesly of Greenville; grandchildren, Jason D. Carter, Matthew R. & Kelly Carter, Layla C. & Tom Warner, Morgan A. Carter, Tyler J. Carter, Mandy & Matt Rismiller, Megan & Kyle Shuff, Shelby Pell and Gracie Pell; great-grandchildren, Christopher Carter, Tiffany Carter, Wyatt Warner, Katy Lynn Carter, Lillian Shuff and Mason Rismiller; brother-in-law, Carrol & Helen (Carter) Thompson of Pitsburg; sisters-in-law, Hazel (Carter) DuBois of Arcanum and Twila Carter of New Madison; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, Carrie was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin R. Carter on May 14, 2002 whom she married July 29, 1950; sons, Michael R. Carter and Gregory L. Carter; grandson, Branden S. Carter; brothers, Charles, Herman and Jerry Orrison; sisters, Ulah Hofacker and Dorothy Bryson; and brothers-in-law, Gene Carter, Charlie Carter, Chet Carter and Bob DuBois.

Carrie formerly worked at General Athletic in Greenville and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Greenville Church of the Brethren.

Virgil Max Shoemaker (September 19, 2015)

Virgil Max Shoemaker, age 92 of Greenville, Ohio and husband of the late Nancy June Shoemaker passed away at 1:30 PM Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Wayne Hospital State of the Heart Hospice. Virgil Max was born April 3rd 1923 in Bryant, Indiana and the son of the late Ed and Mary (Smith) Shoemaker.

Max graduated from Bryant High School (valedictorian) and received a BS from Purdue University in Electrical Engineering. He went on to serve in World War II and the Korean Conflict reaching the rank of 1st Lieutenant, United States Marine Corps. Upon graduation from Purdue University, he worked as head of Test Engineering Navel Gunfire Control at General Electric, Pittsfield, MA. for 2 years. In 1949, Max began a long career for Greenville Manufacturing (division of American Aggregate Corporation) from which he retired as General Manager after 39 years.

Max was involved in his community and served on various boards and committees of the Greenville Public Schools, First United Methodist Church, and the YMCA building fund drive. He taught youth and adult Sunday school, belonged to Kiwanis and was an Explorer Post Leader. Max’s first priority was family but also loved church, golf, boating, and travel.

In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Nancy June, his son Mark A. Shoemaker (Red Lion, PA), brothers Donald Shoemaker (Portland, IN) and John Shoemaker (Dunkirk, IN). He is survived by 2 sons and 3 daughters-in-law; Mark (deceased) and Mary Shoemaker of Red Lion, PA; David and Roxie Shoemaker of Loveland, OH and John and Patricia Shoemaker of Nashville, IN. Surviving also are 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church, 202 West Fourth Street Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Angela Meeks officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenville Cemetery with Military graveside services conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 23, 2015, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Zechar-Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio and Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Ruby M. Edger, (September 18, 2015)

Ruby M. Edger, 86, of Greenville, passed away early Friday morning, September 18, 2015 at Oakley Place in Greenville.

She was born January 29, 1929 in Union City, Ohio, a daughter of the late William and Alice (Conklin) Yoder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Edger; brothers, Jim, Joe, and Frank Yoder; and daughter-in-law Jennifer Edger.

Ruby was a homemaker, a member of the Coletown Congregational Christian Church, the lady’s aid society of the church, and had taught Sunday school. She was also a 4-H advisor for the George Washington 4-H Club. She loved flowers and gardening.

Ruby is survived by her husband George S. Edger; children, Sam Edger, Steve (Brenda) Edger, and Mark (Sondra) Edger all of Greenville; grandchildren, Jodi Edger of Greenville, Cindy Davidson of Greenville, Eric (Brandi) Edger of Greenville, Jason (Jennifer) Edger of Troy, Jeremy (Kristi) Edger of Greenville, Adam (Evyn) Edger of Knoxville, TN, and Evan (Cora) Edger of Greenville, OH; 16 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mary Byers of Eaton, Barb (Charlie) Foreman of Palestine, and Linda Yoder of West Milton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, in Greenville with Pastor Eric Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

Treva is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Nancy & Richard Punches of Bradford; granddaughters, Julie & John Rowe and Lisa & David Zeh; great grandchildren, Hannah Rowe, Abigail Rowe, Payton Zeh and Kelsey Zeh; sisters-in-law, Helen Witt of Versailles, Barbara & John Berger of Versailles and Jessie Laughman; brother-in-law, Paul & Jean Shimp of Versailles; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, Treva was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Andrew Mullen; 2nd husband, Roger Shimp; son, Edward Leroy Mullen; brothers, Earl, Lowell, Herbert and Talbert Laughman; and sisters, Olive Ditmer, Mary Labig and R. Myrl Wilson.

Treva formerly worked at the Buckeye Overall Factory in Versailles and Coldwater. Treva was a member of the Versailles Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.

Kerlin F. Wilt (September 15, 2015)

Kerlin F. Wilt, 96, of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Brookdale in Greenville. Kerlin was born on July 19, 1919 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Leonard and Tressa (Beasecker) Wilt.

Kerlin was a plumber at Huhges-Beachtoal for 26 years. He was a member of the New Madison Masonic Lodge #143. Kerlin was a member of the Darke County Shrine Club, and the Scottish Rite of Dayton where he served in the craft club and drove children to the hospital. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Elks Lodge #1139 all in Greenville. Kerlin was also member of the Arcanum Historical Society. He was a 1940 graduate of the Arcanum High School, and enjoyed hunting with several of his Darke County buddies.

In addition to his parents, Kerlin is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Wilt; his second wife, Frances Jean Wilt; and a brother, Jack Wilt.

Kerlin is survived by his daughter, Sandra Sue Wilt of South Bend, Indiana; sons, Karen and Roy Schipper of Florida, Bruce and Cindy Hunt of Greenville, Ohio and Roger and Marcia Hunt of New Madison; a brother and sister in law, Wayne and Clara of Englewood and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the staff at Brookdale, State of the Heart Hospice and his special care giver, Jamie Michael.

A Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 3 PM at Braund Pope Funeral Home, New Madison, Ohio with Rev. Mel Musser and Rev. Bryan Rea officiating. Delores (Ashman) Youtsey (September 15, 2015)

Delores (Ashman) Youtsey, age 90 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 11:10 A.M. Tuesday September 15, 2015 at the Brethren Retirement Community Greenville, Ohio. Delores was born May 25, 1925 in Greenville, Ohio and the daughter of the late Charlie and Ellie Beisner.

She was a retired bookkeeper working in the Darke County Courthouse, had been very involved with rental properties and farming.

Delores was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Greenville and the Darke County Farm Bureau.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Carl Youtsey November 6, 1982 and her sister Mildred Dickey.

She is survived by her son Kevin Ashman of Greenville; granddaughter Maria and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday September 21, 2015 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Don Bachman officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until time of the services in the funeral home.

Keith E. Fourman (September 11, 2015)

Keith E. Fourman, 74, of New Madison, Ohio passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Lane Park in Sidney, Ohio. Keith was born on May 6, 1941 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Thelma (Shumaker) Fourman.

Keith worked as a farmer his entire life, and was a 1960 graduate of New Madison Schools. He attended Castine Church of the Brethren.

In addition to his parents, Keith is preceded in death by his son, Kent "Skippy" Fourman.

Keith is survived by his wife, Sharon Fourman of New Madison; daughter, Jodi and Randy Mikesell of New Madison; grandchildren, Austin and Raya Mikesell and Kody Fourman all of New Madison; daughter-in-law, Denise Fourman; a brother, Ronald Fourman of Greenville; sisters, Janice and Robert Keller of Seminole, Florida, Ann Eadler of Greenville, Ohio and a twin sister, Karol and Larry Gilfillan of Clayton, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 10:30 AM in Greenmound Cemetery, New Madison, Ohio with the Rev. Greg Hyre officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be given to New Madison Fire Department, Castine Church of the Brethren or Heartland Hospice. The family also request you dress as Keith would have dressed - farm attire.

Edward "Eddie" Ray Haines (September 8, 2015)

Edward "Eddie" Ray Haines, 54, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away at 6:09 P.M. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Heartland of Greenville.

He was born on August 20, 1961 to the late Claude W. and Bonnie (Murray) Haines. Eddie is survived by his siblings Terry (Theresa) Haines of Versailles, Sherry (Larry) Hughes of Sidney, Bud (Michele) Haines of Gettysburg, Becky (Bill) Wyan of Bradford, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eddie was very loved by his family, whom he enjoyed spending time with. He especially loved the time he spent with his brother, Terry. He loved listening to music and he enjoyed Reds baseball. In addition to his family, Eddie also cared about his other family at New Beginnings in Dayton, Ohio.

Juanita V. Gerling (September 11, 2015)

Juanita V. Gerling, age 100, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 7:40 PM at Heartland of Greenville. She was born on August 9, 1915 in Frenchtown, Ohio, to the late Theodore & Anna (Poly) Baltes.

She is survived by her sons, Robert (special friend Vera Plieman) Gerling of Versailles and Denis & Lynn Gerling of Versailles; daughter Marilyn Barge of Versailles and Doris Kovacs of Beavercreek, OH; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Gerling whom she married on Nov. 25, 1937; sisters, Ruth Marchal, Catherine Angle and Joan Blakeley; brothers, Orville “Jack”, Curtis, Joseph and John Baltes; daughter in law, Rita Gerling; and son in law, Bill Kovacs.

Juanita was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, sang in the choir for 50 years at St. Denis and Holy Family, Darke County Art Association, Darke County Retired Teachers Association, Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Darke County Genealogical Society, Shelby County Genealogical Society and Versailles Area Historical Society. She enjoyed painting, Genealogy, crocheting, quilting and writing poetry. She was a fantastic mother, grandmother and will be missed by all. She attended the University of Dayton and graduated from Miami University. She retired from Versailles Exempted School District after 24 years of service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. Jim Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 4-7 PM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio.

William is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, William Frederick “Fritz” Huber II and wife, Valerie of Johnstown, Ohio; daughter & son-in-law, Catharine A. Huber and husband, Timothy L. Cissner of Greenville, Ohio; and grandchildren, Aaron M. & Jayme Huber of Boston, Massachusetts, Matthew J. Huber of Conway, Arkansas, Emily C. Huber of Cincinnati, Ohio, William F. Huber III of Aurora, Illinois and John W. Hubbard of Greenville.

In addition to his parents, William was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. (Burkhardt) Huber; son –in-law, Steven C. Hubbard; sister, Catharine P. (Huber) Horn; and brother-in-law, Robert K. Horn.

William was a supervisor of equipment maintenance at Corning Glass where he retired with 30 years of service. William was a 1947 graduate of Greenville High School and attended the University of Kentucky.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Steve Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery. Charles D. "Jimmy" Meyers (September 7, 2015)

Charles D. "Jimmy" Meyers, 82, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2015 at Covington Care Center in Covington, Ohio. Jimmy was born on March 8, 1933 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to the late Homer and Dee Lee (Arnett) Meyers.

Jimmy retired after 37 1/2 years from FRAM in Greenville. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy.
Jimmy enjoyed watching midget car races at Eldora Speedway. His favorite NASCAR driver was Jeff Gordon. Jimmy loved to play guitar, and ride motorcycles. He was a member of Palestine Church of Christ. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan (Rodgers) Meyers of Greenville; a son, Brian C. Meyers of New Paris, Ohio; a daughter, Tonya McConnell of Greenville, Ohio; grandchildren, Amy and Chad Rideout, Nichole Dickey and Eric Meyers; six great grandchildren; a sister, Donna Jean Emert of Greenfield, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Braund Pope Funeral Home in New Madison on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Mike Simmons officiating. Family and friends may visit on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 5 PM to 8 PM also at the funeral home. Juanita J. (Lindamood) Hawkey (September 4, 2015)

Juanita J. (Lindamood) Hawkey, 84, of Greenville and formerly of New Madison, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2015 at Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Juanita was born on March 13, 1931 in Richmond, Indiana to the late Samuel and Norma (Teaford) Lindamood.

Juanita was a homemaker throughout her life. She also worked for Tri Village Schools for 20 years in the lunch room. Juanita and her husband, Bud, organized the annual Air Force reunions for many years. She was a homebody who loved to cross stitch, and spend time with family especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Juanita is preceded in death by her husband, Bud Hawkey on July 23, 2014.

Juanita is survived by a daughter, Sharon and Mike Lehman of New Madison; a son, Dudley and Mary Hawkey of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Greenmound Cemetery with Rev. Eric Fee officiating.

Rachel A. Jones, 79, of Greenville, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 2, 2015 at the Reid Healthcare Center in Richmond, IN.

She was born July 9, 1935 in Union City, OH, daughter of the late George Fredrick and Accle Addie (Wicker) Rhodes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, George E. Fourman; 2nd husband, Ronald M. Jones; a son, Steven E. Fourman; 2 great grandchildren; and brothers, George F. Rhodes, Jr., Donnie Rhodes, Lloyd Rhodes, and William Rhodes.

Rachel had worked at the Point Café, Sater Lanes, and Kmart in Greenville. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Greenville.

She is survived by her children, Helen Ann (Kenneth) Williams, Georgette (Duane) Smith, Carlene A. (Kenneth) Lee, Marlene B. (Rick) Reier, Cynthia A. (Raymond) Yinger; step daughter, Vickie (Richard) Reichard; step son, Jimmy Jones; grandchildren, Tabitha Sager, Shawn Fourman, Donald Fourman, Stephine Elliott, Rachell and Steven Williams, Billie Fourman, Sara, David Lee, Treasa, Neal, Crystal, and Rickey Reier, Brian Coppess, Brad Coppess; step grandchild, Kerrie McItoch; 32 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Jean) Rhodes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeremy Shane Teaford (September 1, 2015)

Jeremy Shane Teaford, age 33 of Colorado Springs, Colorado and formerly of Greenville, Ohio passed away early Tuesday morning September 1, 2015 in Colorado Springs as a result of a motorcycle accident.  He was born April 14, 1982 in Greenville and the son of Tab and Sherry (Bunger) Teaford of Greenville.

Jeremy was recently honorably discharged in April of this year from the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Carson following 6 years of duty.  Prior to his military career he had been employed at Schultz Motors of Greenville.

He was preceded in death by a sister Michelle Teaford in 1980.

Survivors in addition to his parents would be a daughter Sydni Byers and son Ethan Teaford, both of Greenville; sisters Amy O’Neil of Cincinnati and Jessica Teaford of Piqua and Paternal Grandmother Shirley Carnhan of Greenville.

Funeral Service with Full Military Honors conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard will be held at 10:00 A.M. Glenna (Ashman) Morrison Cole, age 101, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at 6:10 PM at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville, Ohio. She was born on July 23, 1914 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Clyde & Frances (Brewer) Ashman.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Gartner of West Chester, Ohio; step son, James Cole of Middletown, Ohio; grandchildren, Lyle Stetzer Jr. and Cindy Stetzer both of West Chester, Ohio; great grandchild, James Dean of West Chester, Ohio; step grandchildren, Martha Jane Ouimet of Austin, Texas; 2 step great grandchildren of Austin, Texas.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Ashford Morrison; second husband, Dr. Jefferies G. Cole; son, Lee A. Morrison; and sisters, Charlene Ashman and Nova Zimmerman; and step daughter, Jane Cole.

Glenna was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Greenville, Eastern Star and Greenville White Shrine. She retired in 1974 after teaching in Darke and Miami County school districts. She was a Darke County Retired Teachers Association and a lifetime member of the Ohio Education Association. She was a graduate of Gettysburg High School and Miami University.

There will be a private service held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Jim Vandermark officiating. Burial will be in Stelvideo Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

James L. Peck (August 28, 2015)

James L. Peck, 79, of West Manchester, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Montgomery County, Ohio to the late Herman and Marjorie (Boyer) Peck.

Jim graduated from Brookville High School. He worked at GM where he retired after 34 years. Jim was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons in Arcanum. Most of all, Jim loved his Guernsey dairy cattle, and he always looked forward to showing them at the Darke County Fair. Jim served our country honorably in the United States Army

Jim is survived by his three sons and daughter in law, Brian and Cynthia Peck of New Paris, Barry Peck of Arcanum, and Lonnie Peck of Trotwood; two daughters and sons in law, Dianne and Brent Driver of Greenville, and Sherry and Jim Jodrey of Winchester, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Dutchie.

Patrick Allen Davidson age 64, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 6:38 P.M. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Versailles Health Care Center. Patrick was born April 2, 1951 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Robert J. & Winifred (McEldowney) Davidson.

Patrick is survived by his brothers & sisters-in-law, Jim & Linda Davidson of Versailles, Gary & Marcia Davidson of Versailles and Steve & Beverly Davidson of Versailles; sisters & brother-in-law, Cheryl Magoto of Versailles and Pam & Dann Widener of Rossburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Patrick was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Roger Magoto.

Patrick formerly worked at Wayne Industries in Greenville. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles.

David Trowbridge Feltman (August 29, 2015)

David Trowbridge Feltman, age 80 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 11:19 P.M. Saturday August 29, 2015 at his residence. A lifetime resident of Darke County, he was born August 1, 1935, the second child of the late Charles and Louise (Trowbridge) Feltman.

David married Roberta Wetzel on December 14, 1957. They are the parents of two children, Ambassador Jeffrey (Mary Draper) Feltman of New York, New York and Lisa (Bruce) Spring of Middletown. Also survived by his grandchildren Margaret and Ian Spring, sister Barbara Caron of Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews.

David is a 1953 graduate of Greenville High School, attended Ohio University and is a 1957 graduate of Miami University. Following college he began his employment with American Aggregates Corporation (AAC), which continued until March of 1990. After thirty three years of employment with AAC, David was appointed Director of Human Resources for the Brethren Retirement Community until his retirement in 1999.

David served on the Board of Directors at Greenville Federal from 1980 until 2005. He was a member of the Darke County Endowment for the Arts, having served on the Darke County Center for the Arts Board of Directors. With his wife, Roberta, he received the 2003 Bill Combs Patron of the Arts Award. He was also a member of the Greenville Public Library Board, a past Deacon and Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Greenville and currently a member of the First Universalist Church of New Madison. He was also an avid boater and cyclist.

Although David was active in many family, church and community activities, he always appreciated when a dear friend suggested obituaries should read-“David was alive, but now he’s dead. Nothing more needs to be said.”

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday September 4, 2015 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Richard Venus officiating. Burial will be held in the Greenville Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.

Joe A. Whittington, 77, of Ansonia, OH, passed away Saturday morning, August 29, 2015 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

He was born September 19, 1937 in Ansonia, son of the late Kenneth and Mary F. (McGee) Whittington. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Abel; a son-in-law, Kenny Peace; and his in-laws, Melvin and Geraldine Baumgardner.

Joe was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He was retired from the Union City Body Company. A member of the Union City American Legion, he was an avid woodworker, gardener, and Bengals, Reds, and Ohio State fan.

Joe is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary (Baumgardner) Whittington, whom he married October 19, 1984; children, Jo Carole (Ronald) Rucker, Jill Newman, Jann Peace, Debbie Hammontree, Mike (Sharie) Hammontree, Cheryl (Kevin) Fraley, Bob (Chris) Klosterman, Jodie (Phillip) Turner, and Jackie Sease; grandchildren, Jeremy Hammontree, Nikole Baldridge, Eric (Angela) Newman, Brittni (Borrao) Newman, Delphus Peace, Alex Peace, Zachary (Sophie) Hammontree, Janae Hammontree, Jaimie (Cody) Anderson, Lindsay (Paul) Fraley, Nicholas Fraley, Mason and Allen Klosterman, Holly (Josh) Abel, Jordy (Jessica) Wolford, Tyler and Derrick (Amanda) Gump, P.J. and Kaytie Turner, Chelsey (Dustin) Shiverdecker, and Charlie Lane Shinn.

Rodney L. Minnich, 60, of Greenville, passed away Friday afternoon, August 28, 2015 at the State of the Heart Hospice Center in Greenville.

He was born August 19, 1955 in Greenville, son of the late Bernard Minnich and Mary (Longfellow) Lockwood. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Thompson.

Rodney was a veteran of the US Army. He was a truck driver for Dick Lavy Trucking for several years. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Rolling 50’s Classic Car Club all of Greenville.

He is survived by his wife, Audry (Sanders) Minnich; a daughter, Heather Laird; a step daughter, Mindy Harmon; grandchildren, Corey Harmon, Austin Fergueson, Makena Laird, Allison Grow, and Micha Smith-Harmon; a brother, Emerson (Leora) Minnich; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friends, Sue, Tom, Chuck and Donna, Tim and Lorie, Tim and Mary Ann, and Tim and Birt.

Laura J. Mendenhall, 86, of Union City, OH, passed away early Friday morning, August 28, 2015 at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.

She was born September 21, 1928 in Union City, IN, daughter of the late Creston F. and Opal (Hart) Harter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L Mendenhall on May 7, 1912; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Mendenhall; a sister, Barbara Schlechty; brothers, Junior Harter and Marlin E. Harter.

Laura was a homemaker. She was a member of the former Poplar Grove Church of the Brethren and attended the Greenville Missionary Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Doug) LeMaster, Lisa (Mark) Spille; twin sons, Craig (friend, Tammy) Mendenhall, and Gregg Mendenhall; grandchildren, Laura (Ivan) Gregory, Kelly LeMaster, Troy (Ruth) Mendenhall, Chad (Melissa) Anderson, Michelle (Aaron) Missler, Eric (Kerra) Mendenhall, Megan (Aaron) Hollowell, Rachael (Travis) Brunk, Brent (Casey) Spille, Jennifer Spille; great grandchildren, Trent, Anna, and Gabe Mendenhall, Ava Gregory, Carrina and Miles Brunk, Jackson and Carter Hollowell, Jordon, and Grayson Missler, Kaylee and Javin Mendenhall; a sister, Pauline Thornburg; a sister-in-law, Charlene Hamilton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donna (Sheets) Daniel, 55, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on August 22, 2015 at her residence. She was born in Bluefield, WV to the late Arvie and Betty (Grogan) Sheets.

Donna was such a wonderful and caring person. She was fun loving, Had a beautiful soul and a heart made of gold. Donna had a great sense of humor and a talent to make everyone laugh. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and shopping with her daughter, Paige. Donna loved spending time with her family and friends and two dogs, Marlie and Zeek. Donna was a teachers aide for MVCDC (Head Start), she loved all the children in her classes.

In addition to her parents, Donna is preceded in death by a nephew, Corey Lee Sheets.

Donna is survived by her husband, Jeff Daniel of Springfield; daughter, Paige Daniel of Springfield; two brothers, Ronald L. Sheets and Edward M Sheets both of Springfield; three sisters, Linda D. Daly of Springfield, Karensue (John) Lemen of Opelousas, LA and Anita F. (Jerry) Smith of Springfield.

Thomas Leroy Brown age 59, of Hollansburg and formerly of Greenville passed away at 8:20 A.M. on Monday, August 24, 2015 at his residence. Thomas was born August 13, 1956 in Darke County to Betty L. (Flatter) Brown of Greenville and the late Maynard Leroy Brown.

Mr. John W. Pequignot (August 23, 2015)

Mr. John W. Pequignot, age 87 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:30 P.M. Sunday August 23, 2015 at his residence in Greenville surrounded by his loving family. John was born February 3, 1928 in Frenchtown, Ohio and the son of the late Ervin and Marie (Hartmeier) Pequignot.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Alma Patricia (Simons) Pequignot May 19, 2015. They were married December 29, 1951. Also daughter and son in law Jeanie and Jeff Hawley; brother and sister in law Dick and Gretchen Pequignot; Brothers in law Noah, John and Lawrence Simons, William Dues, Alfred Tobe, Joseph Dues, Louis Aselage, Jerry Brandts and Frederick “Barney” Imwalle.

John was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Elks Lodge, both of Greenville. He was a graduate of Greenville High School Class of 1945. He played football, basketball and baseball. He played football at Miami University for one season before enlisting in the United States Army in 1946. He started his career with United Telephone Company in 1949 until his retirement in 1983. He loved spending time with family and friends, which included many great vacations. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He never got tired of people being around him. He loved God, family, and friends.

John is survived by his children, Becky and Bob Empie, Johnny and Dawn Pequignot, Jack and Laura Pequignot, Jeff and Barb Pequignot, Rachel and Kevin Jones, Rhonda and Aaron Dorsten and Kay Pequignot-Davis; grandchildren, Kristyn and husband, Russell Shumway, Rob Empie, Bob and wife, Laura, Dan, Tiffany Hawley, Jenny, Mallory, Joe, John Pequignot, Emily and husband, Todd Clinehens, Jake, Amy Pequignot, Molly, Stephanie, Jason, Aaron Jones, Sam, Gabe, Jessica Dorsten, and Taylor, Alexa Davis; 6 great-grandchildren; brother Bob Pequignot, sister Margie Sink and brother in law Bob Sink; sisters in law Betsy Hilderbrand, Mary Dues, Genevieve Tobe, Lu Dues, Ruth Aselage, Catherine Simons, Evelyn Simons, Shirley Simons, Verdice Brandts and Phyllis Imwalle, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday August 28, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 233 West Third Street Greenville with Rev. Fr. Jim Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenville where Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville.

Dustin Allen Rutter (August 22, 2015)

Dustin Allen Rutter, 24, of Coldwater, OH, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015, of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in southern Mercer County.

Dustin was born April 28, 1991 in Greenville. He served in the US Army from 9/14/2010 to 02/28/15 when he was honorably discharged. He was employed at Airstream in Jackson Center.

Dustin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and auto mechanics. He enjoyed spending time with and was devoted to family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son, son-in-law and nephew. He never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Corryna Anne (Lindahl) Rutter; his 6 week old son, Brayden Allen Rutter; his parents and step parents, Michael (Kathy) Rutter of Coldwater, and Nancy (Jason) Kolley of Piqua; brothers, Nicholas (Alyssa) Rutter of St. Mary’s, Jeremy Rutter of Coldwater, Amanda (Cody) Stachler of Troy, and Tara (Matthew Grandstaff) Rutter of Celina; grandparents, Rolland (Vickie) Rutter of Arkansas, Phyllis Rutter of Louisville, KY, Ronald Claxton of Versailles, Edward Kolley of Florida, Margaret Kolley of Tennessee, Gary Longstreth of Lakeview, and Frankie Jane Lewis of Coldwater; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Dustin was preceded in death by grandparents, Agnes Claxton and Betty Minnich.

Services, with full military honor,s will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, August 28, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway St., Greenville, OH 45331.

Gail E. Teegarden (August 24, 2015)

Gail E. Teegarden, 78, of Union City, OH, passed away early Monday morning, August 24, 2015, at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

He was born March 19, 1937 in Woodington, son of the late Charles W. and Erma Margaret (King) Teegarden.

Gail was retired from the Union City Motor Company and had worked for years repairing audio/visual equipment for many schools. He attended the Greenville Missionary Church.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty A. (Strait) Teegarden, whom he married April 20, 1958; a son, Robert E. (Mary) Teegarden; grandchildren, Kristie (Zach) Smith, and Cody Teegarden; a great grandson, Bentley Smith; and a sister, Charlene Borden.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Teegarden Cemetery near Ansonia.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Robert “Bob” Allan Menke (August 22, 2015)

Robert “Bob” Allan Menke, 38 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Saturday August 22, 2015 at 8:46 AM at Wayne Healthcare. He was born August 29, 1976 in Springfield, Ohio the son of Thomas & Barbara (Cotten) Menke of Greenville. He was Product Engineer and Midmark.

He was a member of EUM Church in Greenville; a Boy Scout Leader for Versailles Troup 79; He was a 1994 graduate of Greenville High School; A graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in Electrical engineering; and received his Master’s Degree from University of Kentucky.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; Stewert & Betty Menke, & Walter Cotten Jr.; aunt: Susan North.

He is survived by his parents; his wife: Erica (Paddack) Menke of Greenville whom he married August 9, 2014; children: Lauren, Michael, Annabelle, & Megan; sister & brother in law: Dr. Anna & Dr. Safet Hatic of Greenville; grandmother: Nancy Cotten of Greenville; uncle: James Michael Menke; aunt: Sheryl Hannah; numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday August 26, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Oakland Church of the Brethren 8058 Horatio Harris Creek Road, Bradford, Ohio with Pastor John Sgro officiating. Family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday August 25, 2015 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Erica Menke to go towards the children’s college funds.
