Kenneth G. Menger (January 27, 2015)

Kenneth G. Menger, 78, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on January 27, 2015 at Miami Valley Hospital. Kenny was born on April 7, 1936 in Greenville, Ohio to the late George and Opal (Henderson) Menger.

Kenny was the owner of Lewisburg Corporation for 30 years, and worked for Deuer Manufacturing in Dayton for 18 years. In his free time, Kenny enjoyed woodworking and building wooden airplanes.

In addition to his parents, Kenny is preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Menger, and a brother, Keith Menger.

Those left to cherish Kenny's memory are his wife, Sylvia (Oler) Menger of Greenville; two sons, Tim Menger and Jamie Menger; four step children, Cheryl Byers-Sneed, Butch and Jenni Byers, Brent and Lori Byers, and Lisa and Dave Frew; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and four step grandchildren.

Peter E. Mangen (January 21, 2015)

Peter E. Mangen age 96, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 10:41 P.M. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at his residence. Peter was born January 1, 1919 in Darke County, Ohio to the late John F. & Ida F. (Subler) Mangen.

Peter is survived by his wife of 74 years, Dorothy E. (McEldowney) Mangen whom he married September 7, 1940; children, Mary E. Knight of Beavercreek, Ohio, Edward F. & Sandra Mangen of Beavercreek, Ohio, William L. & Anne Mangen of Celina, Ohio, Robert J. & Janice Mangen of Huber Heights, Ohio, Vickie A. & Ted Hollinger of Morrow, Ohio, Jeffrey T. “Smoke” Mangen of Versailles, Ohio and Janice M. & John Kaeck of Piqua, Ohio; grandchildren, Jay Knight, Eric Knight, John Mangen, Greg & Jennifer Mangen, Melissa & Brian Gerlach, Rachel & Shad Toney; Teresa & Ken Robinson, Kim Davidson, Erin & Michael Jordan, Brian & Amy Shappie, Jenna Hollinger, Ben & Kara Shappie and Alex Shappie; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Martha Treon of Versailles; sister-in-law, Marcella Schafer of Beavercreek, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Peter was also preceded in death by his sons-in-laws, Jerry Knight and Scott Shappie; brothers, Paul J. Mangen and Francis P. Mangen; and sisters, Mary C. Schulze and Josephine Rarick.

Peter served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from GM in Dayton where he worked for 42 years. Peter was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles. He was a life member of the Versailles V.F.W. and American Legion. Peter was a Golden Eagle member of the Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2347.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, January 26, 2015 at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. James Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles with Military Honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. and Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. Steven Swank (January 20, 2015)

Steven Swank, 65, of Greenville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Heartland of Greenville.

He was born May 12, 1949 in Greenville, son of Wanda (Cool) Swank and the late Donald Swank . In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ira and Pauline (Foureman) Swank, William Saylor and Cora (Besecker) Cool.

Steven had worked at Fram for 15 years, a graduate of Mississinawa High School and had went to Wright State for 2 1/2 years. He had served in the U S Air Force for 14 years.

He is survived by his mother, Wanda (Cool) Swank; brothers and sister, Niles (Rebecca) Swank of Greenville, Bruce (Julie) Swank of Troy, Stephanie Sherry of Greenville; nieces, Andrea (Joe) Raterman of Versailles, Jacqueline Sherry of Columbus, Nicole Sherry of Greenville, Katie Swank of Troy, Lauren Swank of Troy; and nephews, Travis Swank of Versailles and Colton Sherry of Greenville.

Services with full military honors by the Greenville Honor Guard will be held, Saturday, January 24 at 1 PM at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with pastor Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in the Mote Cemetery.

Glenna G. Goewert (January 21, 2015)

Glenna G. Goewert, 91, of Ansonia, OH, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 21, 2015 at the Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.

She was born June 9, 1923 in Buckland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frederick and Nora (Wells) Tangeman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl C. Goewert, Sr., on April 20, 1991; daughter, Beverly Cox; brothers, Roger, Carol, Robert, Forest, Virgil Tangeman; and sister, Vivian Zenz

Glenna was a graduate of Buckland High School in 1941 in Buckland, Ohio. She was retired from the former Royal Garment Company in Ansonia where she was a seamstress. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, cooking, baking and gardening.

She is survived by her children, Earl (Virginia) Goewert, Jr. of St. Henry, Ohio, Fred (Linda) Goewert of Versailles, Ohio, Dennis Goewert, and Linda Bulcher of Ansonia; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren;

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, January 26 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Eric Knight officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Tearl L. Jones (January 19, 2015)

Tearl L. Jones, 77, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2015 at Heartland of Greenville. Tearl was born on March 7, 1937 in Berea, KY to the late Lloyd and Ester (Lunsford) Jones.

Tearl worked as a machinist for the Thiemann Company in New Bremen, Ohio. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Tearl loved collecting things and watching T.V.

In addition to his parents, Tearl is preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Tearl is survived by his wife, Elease Jones; sons, Lester (Melody) Jones and Terri Jones-Moody all of Chattanooga, TN; step sons, Marty (Donna) King of Greenville, Ohio and Mike (Holly) King of Botkins, Ohio; a step daughter, Angela (Donnie) Hurst of Corbin, KY; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; 1/2 brothers, Gary and Butch Goshorn; a 1/2 sister, Alice Brown.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Family request memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice in honor of Tearl for the wonderful care they provided.

Norma L. McMiller (December 26, 2014)

Norma L. McMiller, age 85 formerly of Greenville, Ohio passed away Friday December 26, 2014. She was born March 11, 1929.

She was a kind, hardworking woman who loved her family dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph McMiller, son William McMiller and grandson Joshua McMiller.

Norma is survived by her sons and daughters in law Ralph & Elaine McMiller and Dennis & Elizabeth McMiller and granddaughter Makayla McMiller, all of San Antonio, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday January 27, 2015 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with George Hart officiating. Burial will follow in the Stelvideo Cemetery. Ralph E. Johnston Jr. 62 of Versailles, Ohio passed away on Monday January 19, 2015 at 10:34 PM at his residence. He was born July 30, 1952 the son of the late Ralph & Mary Elizabeth (Black) Johnston Sr.

He worked at MAP Transportation as Safety Director. He was a member of the Shelby County Deer Hunters Association, the Newport Sportsman’s Club, & The Versailles Masonic Lodge # 290.

He is preceded in death by his parents; & his sister: Nancy Marrs.

He is survived by his nephew: Kevin Marrs of Versailles, & great niece: Sara Marrs.

Ricky Gene Wilt (January 18, 2015)

Ricky Gene Wilt, 64, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away on January 18, 2015 at his residence. Ricky was born on November 21, 1950 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Richard and Mary Lou (Hershey) Saylor.

Ricky was a machinist at Whirlpool.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Christopher Eugene Wilt, and a brother, Willie Wilt.

Those left to cherish Ricky's memory are his two brothers, James Wilt of New Madison and Gary Wilt of Bradford; three sisters, LouAnn and Tony Lindamood of New Madison, Patty and Don King of Eldorado and Debbie and Quincy Guess of Richmond.

Karen S. Newbauer, 69, of Greenville, passed away Friday morning, January 16, 2015 at her daughter’s residence in Greenville.

She was born July 21, 1945, in Darke County, daughter of the late Floyd D. and Leona A. (Grimes) Gessler. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Vincent; and a sister, Rita Riegle.

Karen was retired from Fram in Greenville. She was a member of the Greenville American Legion Auxiliary and was a longtime blood donor.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Donald E. Newbauer, whom she married September 14, 1968; a daughter, Shawna (Mike) Wise of Greenville; 2 grandsons, Douglas and Aaron; and a brother, Glen (Charlotte) Gessler of Statesville, NC.

Services will be held Friday, January 23 at 2 p.m., at the Greenville Grace Brethren Church, 4805 St. Rt. 49 S, Greenville. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be given to either the Dayton Children’s Medical Center Endocrinology Center or State of the Heart Hospice.

Christine E. “Chris” Copeland age 64, of Versailles passed away at 7:36 A.M. on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville. Chris was born March 26, 1950 in Greenville to the late Bernard Eugene & Helen Eileen (Gilmore) McGlinch.

Chris is survived by her husband, Dennis E. “Denny” Copeland whom she married December 11, 2004; son & daughter-in-law, Travis & Lori Copeland of Lebanon; daughter, Shelly Hedrick of Covington; and grandchildren, Zachary, Brandon, Emily, Connor and Carley.

Chris was head teller at Second National Bank in Versailles where she worked for 20 years. Chris was a member of the EUM Church in Greenville. Chris was also a member of the Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and the Versailles American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the EUM Church 1451 Sater Street in Greenville with Pastor Sylvia McKibben officiating. Terry Lee Gettinger (January 10, 2015)

Terry Lee Gettinger, age 66, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Sebring, Florida.

He was born on August 16, 1948 in Greenville, Ohio to the late James Henry and Ida Lillian (Weymouth) Gettinger. Terry has been a resident of Avon Park since 1989 having come from Greenville, OH. He was of the Christian faith, loved his family, and especially his grandchildren. Terry was known as Papaw and Grandpa Terry. He worked for Sprint/Embarq Telephone Co. for 35 years before his retirement.

Terry is survived by his wife: Rita Rich Gettinger of Avon Park, daughters: Kia Adducchio (Matt) of Ohio, Nikki Gettinger (John) of Washington, D.C., sons: Russell Kolling of New York, Scott Murphy of Avon Park, grandchildren: Nicholas, Daniel, Anthony, Jenna, Liam, Cecilia, and Isadora.

John D. Saylor (January 15, 2015)

John D. Saylor, 82, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on January 15, 2015 at Village Green Healthcare Center after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. John was born on August 20, 1932 in Portland, Oregon to the late Sherl and Ellen Saylor.

John graduated from Hollansburg School and then served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 - 1956. He started his career as a plasterer, and then began working for Dayton Power and Light. He began his work at DP & L in operations at Hutchings Station, then at Tate Station in Dayton as a welder, and finally retired from Eaton as a regulator repairman.

John enjoyed airplanes and flying, as well as farming, and working on anything with an engine. He was a 55 year member of the New Madison Ft. Black Lodge #413. John enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Jim Yount and Michael Newbauer.

John is survived by his wife, JoAnne (Yount) Saylor whom he married 52 years ago in 1962; daughters, Kelly Jo Saylor, and Lynn Ellen Saylor and special friend, Barry Fitshans of Greenville; two brothers, Jim and Phyllis Saylor or New Madison, and George Saylor of Long Beach, California; three sisters-in-law, Linda Newbauer, Eldonna Yount and Virginia Ann Yount; nieces & nephews, Charles Saylor, Cathy Saylor, Curtis and Rhonda Yount, Craig and Holly Yount, Kevin and Donna Yount, Kerry and Tami Yount, Karen and Scott Fourman, Brant and Sue Yount, Brenda Himelbaugh and Michele and Troy Sullens; and step-nephews, Mark, Darrel and Jeff Grubb.

Raymon E. Zeller age 95, of Versailles passed away at 1:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. Raymon was born November 3, 1919 in Darke County to the late John & Amanda (Miller) Zeller.

Raymon is survived by his sons, Jack Zeller of Versailles and Richard Zeller of Port Ritchie, Florida; daughter & son-in-law, Carolyn & Jeff Lavey of Mt. Vernon; and grandchildren, Joshua Lavey and Candace Lavey.

In addition to his parents, Raymon was also preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (Waymire) Zeller.

Raymon served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Raymon retired from Grilliot Auto Parts in Versailles where he was an auto mechanic for 48 years.

Charles L. “Chuck” Shields (January 13, 2015)

Charles L. “Chuck” Shields, age 74 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 1:33 P.M. Tuesday January 13, 2015 in the Rest Haven Nursing Home Greenville, Ohio. Chuck was born June 6, 1940 in Dayton, Ohio and the son of the late Lester and Dovie (Shahan) Shields.

Chuck was retired.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Donnalee Shields, brother David Shields and sister Betty Dickey.

Chuck is survived by his brother and sisters in law Lester “Butch” and Marilyn Shields of Springfield, Ohio, Marilyn Shields of Brookville, Ohio; Brother in law Don Dickey of Brookville, Ohio and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

William A. “Bill” Nestor (January 14, 2015)

William A. “Bill” Nestor, age 85, of Englewood, Ohio, and formerly of Darke County, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 9:38 AM at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. He was born on April 9, 1929 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Burt & Opal (Harter) Nestor.

He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Christy & Mike Sommers of Englewood, Ohio; grandchildren, Julia (Aaron) Motley and Andy (Lindzee) Sommers; great granddaughter, Gwen Sommers; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in laws.

Bill was a tool and die maker at Armco Steel in Piqua, Ohio, before working in sales and management at Lake Center Industries for 12 years and Phillips Industries for 12 years.

He was a member of the United States Marine Corp serving during the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion in Greenville. He loved sports, bowling and was an avid baseball fan. After retirement Bill owned and operated Andrew & Co. in Arcanum which was a baseball card and hobby shop.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Nestor whom he married on March 26, 1949 and brother, Robert Nestor.

There will be a service held on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside military service will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.

Carlton S. Journey (January 14, 2015)

Carlton S. Journey, 88, of Ansonia, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 14, 2015, at Heartland of Greenville.

He was born December 13, 1926 in Bucks Corner, OH, son of the late Charles and Orpha (Potter) Journey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Journey; 2 step sons, Larry and George Harless; a step grandson, Jason; and a brother, Robert Journey.

Carlton was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII. He was a retired farmer and enjoyed dealing in antiques. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.

He is survived by a sister, Evelyn Brosher of Ansonia; step grandchildren, Heather, Larry, Gwen, and Jennifer; several step great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Grace Lavon Michael Munn age 93, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Agape Rehabilitation in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Mrs. Munn was born April 4, 1921 in Greenville, Ohio to the late James & Ada Mina Curtis Michael.

Mrs. Munn is survived by her sons, Steven Munn of Tallahassee, Florida and Michael Munn of Aurora, Ohio; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Pete Michael of Ocala, Florida.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Munn was also preceded in death by her husband, Ora Dale Munn; son, Timothy Munn; sisters, Ada, Bernice and Mary Lou; and brothers, Jim, Bill, Dale and Sherman.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Phyllis Marie (Schilling) Cox of Greenville; sons and daughters in law, Allen & Linda Cox of Greenville, Tim & Lisa Cox of North Carolina and Chris & Cheryl Cox of Laura, Ohio; daughter and son in law, Debbie & Greg Bourne of Ansonia; grandchildren, Jenelle (Bret) Good, Malorie Cox, Amanda Cox, Nicolas Cox, Nathan Cox, Naomi Cox, Tabitha (Ryan) Francis and Joel (Danielle) Bourne; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Tester of Coletown; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Coletown Congregational Christian Church where he served as a trustee for many years. He was a 1950 graduate of Greenville High School. He worked as a farmer, a milk truck driver and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

There will be a service held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Coletown Congregational Christian Church, 2876 St. Rt. 571 West, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Eric Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville. Family will receive friends on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 5-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville. There will be a Graveside Military Service conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.

Louise F. Sendelbach, age 69, of Bradford, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 2:11 PM at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio. She was born on July 1, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio, to the late William P. & Dorothy E. (Noble) Rapier.

Louise is survived by her husband, Michael A. Sendelbach of Middletown, Ohio; sons and daughter in law, Bill & Louise Alexander of Bradford and Jason Alexander of Franklin, OH; daughter and son in law, Amy & Brian Duncan of Lebanon, OH; step daughters, Candy & Connie; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Richard K. Rapier of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Lawrence A. Simons age 83, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 6:23 A.M. on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at his residence. Lawrence was born January 24, 1931 in Frenchtown, Ohio to the late Lawrence E. & Estella (Baltes) Simons.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Shirley (Monnin) Simons whom he married August 20, 1960; children, Lisa Heaton & Bob Smith of Minster, Lynn & Gerry Drees of Russia and Daniel L. & Beth Simons of Versailles; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Dues of Versailles, Genevieve Tobe of Dayton, Lu Dues of Dayton, Ruth Aselage of Ft. Loramie, Alma (John) Pequignot of Greenville, Verdice Brandts of Celina and Phyllis Imwalle of Dayton; sisters-in-law, Catherine Simons of Versailles and Evelyn Simons of Versailles; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Audrey Monnin of Russia, Marion Grillot of Russia, June Young of Sidney, Richard Monnin of Russia, Jeanette Monnin of Russia, Carol Dunkel of Russia, Leona Monnin of Versailles and Lindy & Betty Monnin of Russia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lawrence served in the U.S. Army from November 1953 to November 1955. He was a proud member of the Hell on Wheels 2nd Armored Division. Lawrence was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles and an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus St. Denis Council.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Ron Haft celebrant. H. Marlene Perreira age 87, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:25 P.M. on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Covington Care Center. Marlene was born July 23, 1927 in Greenville Township in Darke County to the late Addie & Helen (Brenner) Noggle.

Marlene is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Lou & Peggy Perreira of Piqua and John & Kathy Perreira of Piqua; daughter-in-law, Sheila Perreira of Dayton; grandchildren. Matthew Perreira, Jodi Perreira, Nicolas Perreira, Benjamin Perreira, Abigail Trostle, Daniel Perreira, Nathan Lane, Shane Perreira, Andrew Perreira and Mary Crank; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Marlene is also preceded in death by her husband, Louis Perreira whom she married July 10, 1947; and son, Tim Perreira.

Marlene was a homemaker. She was a member of East Zion Community Church in Greenville and a former member of the Greenville Green Thumb Garden Club.

William Ray “Bill” Leach age 65, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 11:25 A.M. on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Bill was born August 15, 1949 in Madison County, Ohio to Mary Ann (Johnston) Leach of Greenville and the late Marion Dale Leach.

In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by his brothers & sisters-in-law, Marion Dale & Cheryl Leach Jr. of Versailles, Mike Leach of Greenville and Don & Becky Leach of Greenville; sister & brother-in-law, Debbie & Mike Shively of Greenville; and 6 nephews, 2 nieces, 9 great-nieces and 10 great-nephews.

Bill was a retired courier. He was a member of the Webster United Methodist Church.

Michael E. Martin (January 8, 2015)

Michael E. Martin, 44, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away late in the day on Thursday, January 8, 2015, after a two year battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Mike was born February 12, 1970, in Greenville, Ohio, a son of William “Bill” and Vickie (Sneary) Martin.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Tabitha (Stewart) Martin; five children, Tiffany (Andrew) Martin, Chelsea (special friend Travis Jeffers) Martin, both of Greenville, Austen, Ashley and Alex Martin all at home; two grandsons, Braxton and Levi Martin. He will truly be missed by his parents, a sister, Melissa (Rick) Brawley; a brother, Jeff (Mandy) Martin; a nephew Trevar Martin; maternal Grandfather Leonard Sneary Jr. and his Mother & Father-in Law, Steve and Diane Stewart, all of Greenville.

Greeting him in heaven are his grandparents James & Dorothy (Meier) Martin, Margaret (Price) Sneary and a very special Great-Grandmother Marie (Nin-nee) Sneary.

Mike graduated from Greenville High School in 1988 and lived in Washington Township his entire life. He worked at Derby Manufacturing, M&M Poultry Farm and most recently at Remington Seed until he was no longer able.

Some of Mike’s greatest pleasures were being able to help on the family farm. He had the best time this last harvest season taking his grandson for a ride in the combine. He enjoyed helping his children show their animals at the Darke County Fair and riding his motorcycle with family on day-long adventures and trips to West Virginia. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and dirt biking which he was able to share with his children. He challenged the family every spring to see who could find the first and most mushrooms.

He was a very strong, kind hearted person that would do anything for anyone. He was loved by so many and cared about many.

Services will be held 11am, Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in Nashville Cemetery.

Robert “Bob” Cole, 90 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Friday January 9, 2015 at 11:45 AM at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. He was born June 7, 1924 in Greenville, Ohio the son of the late Finley & Ruby (Overholser) Cole.

He was the owner/operator of Robert Cole Builder for 47 years retiring July 1, 1993. He served in the United States Army in World War II.

He was a member of the Greenville V.F.W.; past master of the Greenville Masonic Lodge; the Greenville Elks Lodge; and had been a scoutmaster for Boy Scout troop # 134.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Phyllis M. (DeWeese) Cole on June 19, 2014 whom he married September 12, 1948; sister: Donna Wright.

He is survived by his children, Susan Hohler of Greenville, Alan & Pamela Cole of Greenville, Michael & Beth Cole of Greenville and Jeffrey & Carol Cole of Monroe, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Sparklin of Greenville.

Philip Terrell Rehmert, 90, of Greenville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2014 at Reid Hospital, Richmond, Indiana.

He was born September 20, 1924 in Greenville, OH, son of the late Christ and Sadie (Schultz) Rehmert. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Gwendolyn Neiswonger and brother, Byron Rehmert.

Philip was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Navy. Member of the Masonic Lodge #143, Scottish Rite of Dayton, Greenville American Legion, Greenville VFW and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Davis) Rehmert whom he married on April 20, 1946; his children, Chris (Peggy) Rehmert, Kent (Beth) Rehmert, Barbara (Bob) Wert, Byron D. (Sandra) Rehmert all of Greenville; grandchildren, Krista (Corey) Traut, Julie Horzsa, Daryl Rehmert, Brian (Angie) Rehmert, Ashley (Clinton) Sharp, Philip (Jackie) Rehmert, Kent Rehmert, Jr.; step grandchildren, Michelle Palmer-Clark, Tiffany (Josh) Thompson, David (Jessica) Williams, Dan (Jenny) Williams and Eric (Jessica) Williams; 28 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Philip is survived by his wife, M. Yvonne (Crowell) Ridenour whom he married February 10, 1951; daughter, Gretchen Turpen-Sahlin & husband, Monte of Kettering; granddaughter, Najwa Jones & husband, Todd of Dayton; brother & sister-in-law, William & Lois Ridenour of California; and nephews, Steven Ridenour of California and Phil Ridenour of California.

Philip was a retired sales representative for Ideal Electric. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Versailles. Phil was also a member of the Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2347, Versailles Masonic Lodge #290 F & AM, and Creekside Breakfast Club. Philip never knew a stranger and was always making new friends. He enjoyed going to the Sweet Shop in Versailles to meet his cronies.

James G. Hutchens, 81, of Ansonia, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 6, 2015 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

He was born July 31, 1933 in Versailles, son of the late James and Ellen (Wills) Hutchens. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Wanda Ryan and Shirley Lowe.

A veteran of the US Navy having served in The Korean Conflict. He was retired from General Motors. He was a member of the West Milton VFW and the Greenville American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Cheadle) Hutchens; children, James (Cheryl) Hutchens, Jr. and Leigh Hutchens both of Florida, Tom Hutchens of Arcanum; step children, Misty Boldman of Greenville, Ron (Johnanna) Beam of Ansonia, and Mendy (Brian) Fries of Ft. Recovery; 3 grandchildren; 20 step grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Stegeman of Tipp City.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 10, at the Greenville Baptist Temple.

In addition to her parents, Sara was also preceded in death by her husband, Francis E. “Frank” Lease whom she married April 19, 1952; son-in-law, Dennis Livingston; a great-grandchild; 6 brothers; and a sister.

Sara was a homemaker, former cook at Sater Lanes in Greenville, and ran a vegetable stand along with her late husband at the corner of Plum and Morrow Street from 1959-1993. Sara was an active member of Grace Brethren Church in Greenville. She was also a member of the Greenville Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Greenville V.F.W. and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She was born August 28, 1916, in Ansonia, daughter of the late Waldo and Bertha Irene (Thomas) Winterrowd. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Baker on Sept. 29, 1983; a son, James A. Baker on August 6, 1989; a brother, Romaine Winterrowd; and a great grandson, Terry Baker, Jr.

A Homemaker, Verla was a member of the Ansonia Christian Church, the Eastern Star, and a lifetime member of the Ansonia American Legion Auxiliary.

Margaret May Stager, age 101, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on January 2, 2015, at the Brethren Retirement Community.

She was born on December 2, 1913, in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Earl and Pansy (Garrison) Loy. She was a 1932 graduate of Arcanum High School, went to Business College in Muncie, IN, and worked as a secretary for the Wenger Co. and Ohio Unemployment Bureau in Greenville.

She was married to Hollie William Stager on March 11, 1939, who preceded her in death on November 22, 1997. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Loy, sisters Martha Denlinger and Kathryn Riffell. She is survived by her children: Carol DeMaio, Greenville, Wm. D. (Barbara) Stager, Kettering, Brenda (Curt) Sparks, Arcanum; 8 grandchildren: Betsy (Ron) Baran, David DeMaio, Elizabeth (David) Kohler, Emily (Tony) Bruzzese, Meg Sparks, Jacob (Leslie) Sparks, Jessica Sparks (Chris Herrmann), and Rebekah (David) Gash, and 10 Great-Grandchildren: Lena Baran, Anna Baran, Lucy Bruzzese, Ned Bruzzese, Addison Sparks, Alton Sparks, Atlee Sparks, Elliott Gash, Bret Gash, Calvin Gash, and sister Phyllis Davis, Greenville.

Wayne D. Coblentz (January 3, 2015)

Wayne D. Coblentz, age 91 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:30 P.M. Saturday January 3, 2015 in the emergency room of Wayne Healthcare Center in Greenville. He was born April 1, 1923 in Union City, Ohio.

Wayne was a well-known business man in the Greenville area since 1946. Wayne retired from his State Farm Insurance Agency in August 2001. He was a graduate of the Gettysburg High School in 1941. Served in the Air force during WW II from January 1943 through June 1946. He was awarded the Purple Heart, after being wounded at Leyte Island during the invasion of the Philippine Islands in October 1944. Wayne was an avid golfer, life member of the Greenville Bowling Association, and the last living charter member of the Darke County Horseshoe Club. Wayne was a very successful fastpitch softball pitcher in the late 1940’s and 1950’s in Ohio and Indiana. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also was active in and supportive of many local programs including Youth for Christ, Campus Crusade, Senior Moments, Masonic lodge, Hospice and helped with the return of Southern Gospel Music concerts to Darke County. Wayne enjoyed music, and for several years he used his God given talent to play the piano, and several string instruments, with local Country Western bands. He was a 70 year member of the Oakland Church of the Brethren, and the last few years, he has been a member of the Greenville Missionary Church. Wayne left no doubt that the primary joy of his life was his wife Virginia (Hartman), and their family. She preceded him in death May 9th 1992. Also preceding him in death was his parents, Nathan K. and Sylvia (Cain) Coblentz, one sister May (Coblentz) Rhoades; five brothers Lonnie, Raymond, Robert, Floyd and Glen.

Wayne is survived by his children Charles (Donna) Coblentz of West Virginia, Patricia (Paul) Nelson of West Alexandria, Oh., Wayne Allen (Karen) Coblentz of South Charleston, Oh., Deborah (Robert) Kuhnle of Greenville, Oh., Sheri (Joe) Birt of Columbus, Ind., Kristi (Curtis) Falldorf of West Alexandria, Oh. and Rebecca (Joel) Hootman of Arcanum, Oh. Grandchildren Donica (David) Rogers, Kevin (Kristy) Coblentz, Michele (Chris) Petsko, Lori (Stephen) Barnes, Elizabeth (Jeff) Crumbaker, Lizabeth (David) Waugh, Zac (Jamie) Coblentz, Sara (Scott) Johnson, Katie (Brett) Hill, Rachel (Matthew) Harmon, Nathan (Molly) Birt, Katherine Birt, Adam, David and Jenna Falldorf, Josiah, Isaiah and Jesse Hootman. Great grandchildren Olivia, Maggie and Jessica Canoy, Tyler, Kylie and Bryson Coblentz, Megan, Emily and Alex Petsko, Logan and Lorin Barnes, Gracie Crumbaker, Nathan Lily, Ethan and Tyler Waugh, Walker Hill, Addison, Michael and Matthew Johnson and Marcus Harmon. Sister Marceille Hyland, sister in law Barbara (Schafer) Coblentz, Brother in law and Sister in law Charles and Doris Hartman and Nephew Michael Hartman. Wayne was also known as “Uncle Wayne” to many Nieces and Nephews who he loved dearly.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday January 8, 2015 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in the
Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.

The Greenville Masonic Lodge will conduct a Masonic Memorial; Service at 7:45 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home and the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will present Full Military Honors Thursday.

It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to the State of the Heart Hospice of Darke County or the Greenville Missionary Church.

Annola Allread (January 2, 2015)

Annola Allread, 78, of Greenville, passed away Friday morning, January 2, 2015 at Reid Hospital in Richmond.

She was born June 27, 1936 in Darke County, daughter of the late Clyde and Vinnie (Zellers) Snyder. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Allread; 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

Annola was retired from the Brethren Home in Greenville and was the former owner/operator of the Front Street Inn. She was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church in Greenville, the Women of the Moose, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Rick (Linda) Allread, Randy (D.J.) Allread, Kathy (Dennis) Weaver all of Greenville, and Rob (Susan) Allread of Hamilton, OH; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and sisters, Duck Curtis and Yvonne Mangen both of Versailles.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 7 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Don Myers officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-7 p.m., with the Women of the Moose having a Lodge of Sorrow at 6:45 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions be given to the Greenville Moose Lodge #329.

Ellen Marie (Sites) Meier (January 2, 2015)

Ellen Marie (Sites) Meier, 95 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday January 2, 2015 at 2:33 AM at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio. She was born June 17, 1919 in Union City, Indiana the daughter of the late Ora B. & Edith L. (St. Myers) Sites. She was a homemaker and a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Greenville. She loved to sew and cook. Ellen’s life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Foster Frederick Meier on June 3, 1980; brothers: Harold & Ralph Sites.

She is survived by her daughters & sons in law: Becky & Michael Campbell of Ansonia, & Nancy & Charles Raffel of Greenville; grandchildren: Christopher & Jennifer Warner, Julie Price, Ann Raffel, Lynne & Josh Hines, & Matthew Raffel; step grandchildren: Kimberly Leeper & Fiancé Rick Perdue, Dale Campbell, Kelly & Kay Campbell, Brian Campbell; great grandchildren: Katelyn Warner, Logan Warner, Allison Warner, Madison Warner, Lauren Warner, Lane Clark, Delayne Price; 4 step great grandchildren.

Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday January 6, 2015 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Ron Hoeksema officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery. Shirley Aleene Lipps (January 1, 2015)

Shirley Aleene Lipps, age 79 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:23 A.M. Thursday January 1, 2015 at Hospice of Dayton. Shirley was born October 30, 1935 in Montgomery County, Ohio and the daughter of the late Loren C. and Mary A. (Nyman) Prior.

Shirley was a homemaker, seamstress, loved gardening, crocheting, crafts, and when the children were younger served as a Cub Scout Mother and the family referee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Freddie J. Lipps November 20, 2004; son Thomas Lipps in 2014 and her brothers Ronnie and David Prior.

Shirley is survived by her children Teresa Green of Greenville, Rick Lipps of Greenville, Steve (Donna) Lipps of New Madison, Diana Miller of Vandalia, Greg Lipps of Greenville and Jason Lipps of Greenville; 7 grandchildren 11 great grandchildren and a lifelong family friend Gwen Hurd.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday January 7, 2015 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Patrick Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday 1 hour prior to the services in the funeral home.

Gregg G. Feurer (December 31, 2014)

Gregg G. Feurer, 66 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on December 31, 2014. He was a resident of Greenville, Ohio most of his life.

Gregg was a 1966 graduate of Greenville Senior High School. Gregg & Jan owned H & R Block of Greenville from 1979-1993 and also farmed. Gregg was a member of the Dorper Sheep Association.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Wayne & Virginia (Jackson) Feurer, & his father in law and mother in law: Dean & Betty Hart.

He has been married to Janet (Hart) Feurer for over 43 years. They are the proud parents of Matt & Stephanie Feurer, Tony & Jodi Feurer, and Missy Feurer all of Greenville; three wonderful grandchildren: Mic, & Nate Feurer, & Alexandria Begoon; brother & sister in law: Tom & Jeanne Feurer of Frederica, Delaware; sisters & brother in law: Ginny & Ken Gladyzewski of Painesville, Ohio, & Janis Feurer of Duncan BC, Canada; sister in law: Pam Hart of Greenville; & several cousins of Anderson, Indiana.

Services will be held on Saturday January 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Terry Haworth officiating. Family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. A. Gale York (January 1, 2015)

A. Gale York, 73 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday January 1, 2015 at 2:52 AM at Heartland of Greenville. He was born March 19, 1941 in Darke County, Ohio the son of the late Millard & Gladys (McBride) York. He was a farmer and worked construction and later retired from 3-Sigma. He attended Ansonia Schools.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Carl York, & Don Hupman York.

He is survived by his wife: Donna (Yount) York of Greenville whom he married July 24, 1960; his daughters & sons in law: Deanna & Randy Harrison of Arcanum, Gail & Ben Overholser of Greenville; grandchildren: Nicole & Brian Pohlman of Greenville, Josh Overholser of Zanesville, Ohio; great grandson: Grant Pohlman.

Services will be held on Monday January 5, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Joseph (Joe) Ryan Mills (December 28, 2014)

Joseph (Joe) Ryan Mills, age 38 of Arcanum, Ohio passed away on Sunday December 28, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.

Joe was born December 20, 1976 in Greenville, Ohio to Mark and Sue (Myers) Mills. He was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy- a form of Muscular Dystrophy- at nine months old. In spite of a shortened life expectancy, Joe flourished and proved the doctors wrong thanks to 38 years of exceptional caregiving by his biggest supporter-his Mom. Joe attended Gorman School in Dayton through fifth grade before moving to Arcanum Public School to complete High School, graduating in the top 10% of his class. He went on to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems at Wright State University in 2000. He was a software engineer for LexusNexus for eight years. Joe loved sports, especially Red baseball, and Bengals and Ohio State football. His last big outing was planning a trip for many family members to watch the buckeyes beat Wisconsin for the Big 10 Title. Joe was also a fantastic uncle and enjoyed spoiling and joking with his seven nieces and nephews.

Joe is survived by his parents, Mark and Sue (Myers) Mills of Arcanum; sister, Julie (Chuck) Edmonson of Springboro; brother, Jeff (Van) Mills of Blue Ash; nieces, Jada and Jasmyn Edmonson and nephews, Jared, Jase, Jaxson, Jacoby Edmonson and Ridley Mills. Joe also shared a special loving friendship with his first cousin, Karla (Schneider) Guinigundo of West Chester. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins who he loved to tease and beat at card games. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George (Joe) and Arline (Myers) Mills of Gordon and maternal grandparents, Donald and Evaline (Snyder) Myers of Arcanum.

Visitation will be Friday January 2, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Services will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday January 3, 2015 at Beechwood Golf Course 1476 State Route 503, Arcanum, Ohio with interment following in Ithaca Cemetery. Per Joe’s wishes, please wear casual attire on Saturday-OSU, Bengals, or Reds gear, if you prefer. A party to celebrate Joe’s life will be held at Beechwood after the burial.

Memorial contributions may be mad in Joe’s name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or a charity of your choice.
