Maurice Longfellow (March 10, 2016)

Maurice Longfellow, age 88 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:13 A.M. Thursday March 10, 2016 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. He was born February 14, 1928 in Wayne County, Indiana and the son of the late Fred and Tacy (Powell) Longfellow.

He was retired from Mengel’s Triangle Pacific Cabinet Company of Union City, Indiana and a Veteran of W.W. II stationed in the Philippines while serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was also a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Moose and Eagles Lodges all of Greenville and enjoyed fishing, camping and water skiing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter in law Keitha Longfellow; sisters Pauline Lacy, Catherine Johnson, Cleona Willis and Ailene Cotter; brothers Everett Longfellow, Wilson Longfellow, Howard Pursley, Bob Longfellow, Kenneth Powell and Don Longfellow.

Maurice is survived by his wife Rosie J. (Thomas) Longfellow of Greenville. They were married October 11, 1945. Also sons Terry M. (Raine) Longfellow of Greenville and Dan (Vicki) Longfellow of New Madison; grandchildren Chad Longfellow, Lisa (Bill) Toomey, Tara (Nick) Crafton, Ben (Julie) Longfellow and Eric (Ady) Longfellow; great grandchildren Clay, Illyana, Maddy, Gavyn, Sam and Ellie Longfellow, Hali Bevins, Brina and Wade Toomey, Maddie Doss, Gunner, Aivrey, Hayden, Skylar and Shelby Crafton; sisters Doris Brandon and Phyllis Baludshun both of Greenville as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday March 14, 2016 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Chaplain Rogers Durham officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. in the funeral home. There will be full Military Honors conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard on Monday in the funeral home.

It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to State of The Heart Hospice of Darke County.
