Mary F. Greene (August 29, 2010)

Mary F. Greene, 89, Of Indianapolis, and formerly of Greenville, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the Northwest Mannor Healthcare Center in Indianapolis.

She was born September 12, 1920 in Tazewell, TN, daughter of the late James and Edna (Smith) Thompson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Greene; children, Aaron , Earl Dean, James Nelson and Maraget Jean; a grandson and a sister.

She is survived by her children, Dennis (Sharon Kaye) Greene, Sonia Westra and Dessie Greene; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; brothers, Paul N. and James Thompson; and sisters, Billie Mairacle, June Cave and Geraldine Hubble; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, Ohio with the Rev. Joe Soley officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens near Greenville.

There will be no public visitation.

Shirley A. Hartzell (August 26, 2010)

Shirley A. Hartzell age 66 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 3:10 P.M. on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. Shirley was born July 20, 1944 in Miami County, Ohio, to the late Leroy & Ruth (Kissinger) Voisard.

Shirley was a home healthcare provider.

In addition to her parents, Shirley is also preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby & Tom Voisard.

Shirley is survived by her sons & daughter-in-law, Randy Hartzell of Greenville and Robert & Charlene Hartzell of Greenville; grandchildren, Bryan Hartzell and Hailey Hartzell (Best); great grandchildren, Leanna Hartzell, Rozlynn Best and Gavin Best; and sisters, Pat Brunswick of Coldwater and Tootie Brunswick of Burkettsville.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Remy Cemetery in Russia. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Janet E. Shiverdecker (August 26, 2010)

Janet E. Shiverdecker, 73, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, August 26, 2010 at her residence.

She was born August 13, 1937 in Darke County, daughter of the late Harry and Mabel Fischbach. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Percy A., Marvin "Dale", Minor E. and N. Edward Leeper; and sisters Twila C. Bell and Carolyn "Ann" Spahr.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth D. Shiverdecker; children, Shelia R. Slauter and Brian D. Shiverdecker; five granddaughters, Laci R. Flory, Brandi L. Flory, Katelyn Shiverdecker, Jesica A. Shiverdecker and Christina D. Shiverdecker; and a sister Barbara June Klenke.

Private services will be held at a later date with burial to follow in the Brock Cemetery.

There will be no public visitation. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the charity of the donor's choice.

June E. Sodders (August 25, 2010)

June E. (Bowman) Sodders, 86, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday morning, August 25, 2010 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

She was born February 18, 1924 in Bradford, daughter of the late Cleo and Nora (Wade) Loxley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roscoe Bowman on September 16, 1982; her second husband, Harry Sodders on July 6, 1995.

June helped her first husband with the family grocery in Bradford. She later worked as a cashier at Troutwine’s Super Value in Greenville and then as a clerk at The Card Shop in Greenville until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greenville.

She is survived by her three sons who were the most important thing in her life, she made a comment once “I’ll take any pain God gives me if he just doesn’t take my boys from me”. With her sons are three wonderful daughters –in-laws; Randall (Rhonda) Bowman, Regan (Sue) Bowman, and Rhys (Pam) Bowman all of Greenville; step children, Richard (Debbie) Sodders of Greenville, Connie Santee of South Carolina and Beth (Tom) Harmon of South Carolina; 9 precious grandchildren, Julie (Jason) Willis, Tiffany (Jeremy) Fine, Heather (Lance) Riegle, Heidi (Tate) Sutton, Holli, Brett and Haley Bowman and Amanda and Natalie Bowman; 7 adorable great grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; and 4 step-great grandchildren; and her precious dog, Honey B.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28 at the First United Methodist Church in Greenville with Rev. Joe Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Stelvideo Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, Friday from 5-8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the First United Methodist Church Capital Campaign Fund.

Scott A. Flory (August 24, 2010)

Scott A. Flory, 51, of Greenville, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Wayne Hospital, Greenville. Mr. Flory was born in Greenville on November 29, 1958, the son of the late Roger E. and Rebecca S. (Binkley) Flory. Scott was preceded in death by his Father Roger E. Flory and a Brother Michael Flory. He is survived by his Mother Rebecca (Binkley) Flory of Greenville; Sister Debbie Varvel of Greenville; Nieces Chasity and Katherine Varvel; and Brother-in-Law John Varvel of Greenville. Ryan Luke Wulber (August 23, 2010)

Ryan Luke Wulber, age 30 of Yorkshire, Ohio passed away at 9:10 A.M. Monday August 23, 2010 at his residence. Ryan was born June 29, 1980 in Piqua, Ohio and the son of Ronald L. and Rebecca L. (Shoup) Wulber of Versailles, Ohio.

Ryan was employed at Miami Valley Career Technology Center as a Power Technician Instructor.

He was a 1998 graduate of Versailles High School, a graduate in 2000 of Owens Community College, had also taken classes at Wright State University, a member of the Palestine Church of Christ, member of the Versailles FFA Alumni and a former employee of Koenig Equipment Company in Greenville. Ryan also enjoyed deer hunting.

In addition to his parents, Ryan is survived by his wife April Marie (Wyne) Wulber of Yorkshire. They were married December 17, 2005. Also by his daughter Aubrey Grace at home; sister and brother in law Rachel and Nathan James of Covington, Ohio; brother Russell Wulber of Versailles; maternal grandparents Marvin and Betty Shoup of Troy; father in law and mother in law Jack and Mary Wyne of New Madison, brother in law and wife Jacob and Brandi Wyne and their 2 daughters also of New Madison.

Ryan’s life was a continuous lesson in compassion and faith in God. His life will be celebrated.

The Celebration of Ryan’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday August 26, 2010 at the Palestine Church of Christ 209 Lynn Street Palestine, Ohio with Rev. Mike Simmons officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the Willowdell Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3 till 8 P.M. in the Palestine Church.

Wayne S. Wiley (August 23, 2010)

Wayne S. “Uncle Wayne” Wiley, 95, of Richmond, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2010 at Sterling House of Richmond. Wayne was born in Rush County, Indiana on April 9, 1915 to the late Guy and Mary (Saxon) Wiley.

Wayne was a graduate of Fairview School in Fayette County, Indiana. He worked at Rex Manufacturing Company in Connersville, Indiana, managed an elevator in Raymond, Indiana and also worked at Wayne Works in Richmond, Indiana. However, Wayne enjoyed most of all farming with his brother, Russ until he retired in 1990. Wayne served his country honorably from 1942 – 1945 as a Sergeant and Engineer in the United Stated Army. Wayne was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Richmond, Indiana and a lifetime member of the VFW in Greenville, Ohio, American Legion in New Madison, Ohio and the Elks Lodge in Union City, Indiana.

In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his wife, Corrine (Lowdenslager) Wiley whom he married on January 5, 1947 in Falmouth, Indiana. Corrine passed away on March 22, 1996. Two brothers, Paul Wiley and Russell Wiley and a sister, Etna Gross.

Wayne is survived by special nieces, Debbie Wiley of Richmond, Indiana and Kim (Steve) Burge of Lynn, Indiana and children Holly, Toby and Heidi Hollinger; one brother, Guy (Evelyn) Wiley of Bloomington, Indiana; sister-in-law, Juanita Wiley of Lynn, Indiana; nieces, Linda Jane Fox, Donna K. Walcott and Marcia Drew; nephews, Dennis Wiley and Gary Wiley.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 4 - 7 PM at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. Funeral services will be on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10:00 AM also at the funeral home with Rev. Ray D. Ellis being asked to officiate. Burial with full military honor presented by the Darke County Honor Guard will follow in the Greenmound Cemetery. The family wanted to especially thank the Sterling House of Richmond for all their compassion and care for Uncle Wayne

Michael B. Phlipot (August 20, 2010)

Michael B. Phlipot, age 56 of Versailles, Ohio, passed on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 3:20 AM at his residence. He was born on May 12, 1954 in Greenville, Ohio to Dorvan & Martha (Larger) Phlipot of Versailles, Ohio.

Michael worked as a mechanic for Sidney Transportation for over 20 years. He was a member of the St. Denis Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Versailles. Michael loved camping, fishing, sports and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Neargarder) Phlipot of Versailles whom he married on May 12, 1979; sons and daughters in law, Brian (Heather) Phlipot of Parma, Ohio, Carl Phlipot of Hamilton, Ohio, Randy (Candace) Phlipot of Columbus, Ohio and Eric Phlipot of Versailles; grandchildren, Taryn and Brady Phlipot; brothers and sisters in law, Ron (Kathy) Phlipot of Mardela Springs, Maryland, Ken (Angie) Phlipot of Versailles and Gary (Gretta) Phlipot of Versailles; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio. Sheila R. Evans, age 41of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 3:48 PM at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was born on December 4, 1968 in Richmond, Indiana to Bonnie & Harvey Smith of Greenville, Ohio and Larry & Linda Lewis of Centerville, Indiana.
Sheila worked at Meijers Distribution Center in Tipp City, Ohio and was a member of the Community Full Gospel Church and loved painting, making things, riding motorcycles and Elvis.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Scott Evans; maternal grandparents, Vernon & Alma Beckman; and paternal grandparents, Claud and Pearl Lewis.

In addition to her parents she is survived by her sister and brother in law, Heather & David Trent of Hamilton, Ohio; brother, Jeffrey Lewis of Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be service held on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville with Pastor Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 22, 2010 from 2-4 PM at the funeral home.

June E. (Miller) Brown, 85, of Bellbrook and formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday evening, August 21, 2010, at the Bellbrook Rehab and Healthcare Center in Bellbrook, OH.

She was born October 31, 1924 in Greenville, OH, daughter of the late Harry H. and Lucille (Kimmel) Miller. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, C.A. "Brownie" Brown on October 6, 2009.

She is survived by her children, Joyce A. Page of Hillsboro, Janice K. Qualls of Bellbrook, James N. Brown of Washington Court House and John W. Brown of West Carrollton; 4 grandchildren, Natalie K. Herdman, William J. Briggs, Justin C. Brown and Joshua L. Brown; and great grandchildren, Sam Herdman, Ben Herdman, Ocyrus X. Brown, Ewon I. Brown and Steven Briggs.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH. Burial will follow in the Ansonia Cemetery, Ansonia, OH.

Pierre V. Coppess, Jr. (August 18, 2010)

Mr. Pierre Vernon Coppess Jr., age 83 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 4:15 A.M. Wednesday August 18, 2010 in Wayne Hospital Greenville, Ohio. Pierre was born August 6, 1927 in Adams Township Darke County, Ohio and the son of the late Pierre V. and Amanda Catherine (Schneck) Coppess.

Pierre was retired as a Registered Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor. He had been employed at American Aggregates Corporation for 39 years as Superintendent of the Dayton Operations, Chief Engineer and Vice President of Technical Services.

He was a Veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army and earning the rank as Sergeant.

Pierre was a 1945 graduate of Gettysburg High School and attended the Ohio Northern University. He was a 41 year member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Greenville, had served 6 years on the Church Council. Prior to his involvement at St. Paul’s, he was an active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of West Milton and had served as Building Chairman. He was also a member of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers.

In addition to his parents, Pierre was preceded in death by his sisters Catherine Bevins and Margaret Keller.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Joan (Christian) Coppess of Greenville. They were married October 15, 1949. Also by his daughter and son in law Karen and Dan Burchett of Greenville, son Douglas Coppess and Special Friend Mona Myers of Brookville, Ohio , grandson Jonathan Mardin of Greenville, step grandchildren Brett and Ben Burchett, great grandson Trevor, 8 step great grandchildren, sister Miriam Bennett of Greenville and brother Lowell Coppess of Bradford. Also numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday August 21, 2010 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with the Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 until 8 P.M. in the funeral home.

Everett F. Rogers (August 17, 2010)

Mr. Everett F. Rogers, age 85, of Greenville, Ohio, who was also a resident of Heartland of Greenville for 6 years passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 8:05 AM at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. He was born on March 15, 1925 in Randolph County, Indiana to the late Clarence S. & Elizabeth (Kaucher) Rogers.

Everett was a farmer and also worked in the Maintenance Department at Wayne Hospital for 25 years. He was a member of the United Stated Army 4th Infantry serving in World War II and was a member of the Castine Church of the Brethren.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his twin brother, Earl Rogers.

He is survived by his wife, Ruthanna (Bolinger) Rogers of Greenville whom he married on January 1, 1950; sons and daughter in law, Wesley Rogers of London, Ohio and Paul & Marietta Rogers of New Lebanon, Ohio; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister in law, Esther Rogers of Greenville; as well as several nieces and nephews.

There will be a service held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Castine Church of the Brethren, 624 St. Rt. 127 South, Castine, Ohio with Pastor Greg Hyre officiating. Burial will follow in the Castine Cemetery, Castine, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, August 20, 2010 from 5-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. A graveside military service will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.

Michael L. Brown, 35, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on August 8, 2010. He was born on May 6, 1975 in Greenville, Ohio, son of Daryl and Barbara (Slusher) Brown.

In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his loving daughter, Kitana, who meant the world to him.

Sue E. Harmeson (August 16, 2010)

Sue E. Harmeson, 70, of Rossburg, passed away Monday afternoon, August 16, 2010 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

She was born July 17, 1940 in Piqua, daughter of the late Norman and Catherine (Crowell) Miller.

Sue was a school teacher having taught at several of the Darke County schools before retiring from the Ansonia School System. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Recovery.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James K. Harmeson whom she married September 13, 1959;children, Kimberly (Jeff Wieser) Harmeson of Lauralville, OH, Jeff Harmeson of Houston, TX, Jason (Danette) Harmeson of Alpine, CA and Justin (Tara) Harmeson of Baltimore, MD; 4 grandchildren, Chelsey, Josey, Chandler and Isabella Harmeson; and two sisters, Beth (Jack) Davis and Nancy (Charles) Rue both of Greenville.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 21 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville.

Betty Hole (August 15, 2010)

Betty “Red” Hole age 84 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 11:45 P.M. on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Versailles Health Care Center. Betty was born February 20, 1926 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Jess & Minnie (Catherman) Lewis.

Betty was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, Lynn E. “Mouse” Hole on February 24, 2007, whom she married on August 26, 1945; brother, George Lewis; and sisters, Mary McClain, Bernice Urquhart and Opal Pearl Lewis in infancy.

Betty is survived by a daughter & son-in-law, Dixie & Michael Wehrkamp of Versailles; grandchildren, Tim & Tammy Wehrkamp of Versailles and Mindy & Tom Gigandet of Versailles; and great grandchildren, Courtney Barlage, Zach Barlage, Josh Barlage, Amber Wehrkamp and Brooke Wehrkamp.

Private funeral services will be held at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. Entombment will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Darke County, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Versailles Emergency Medical Services.

Georgia F. Moore (August 15, 2010)

Georgia Fay (Fraley) Moore, 84, of Eaton, Ohio went to be with her Lord on August 15, 2010. She was born in Blairs Mill, Kentucky on March 9, 1926, daughter of the late Leslie and Olive (Cox) Fraley.

Georgia was a homemaker, a registered nurse for Miami Valley Hospital and Preble County Health Department, and a member of the Cadet Nursing Corp during WWII. She was a member of the Eaton Church of the Brethren, and her loves were her family and her church.

Georgia is survived by her loving husband, Don Moore of Eaton; two sons, David (Holly) Moore of Brookeville, Ohio and Donald (Sylvia) Moore of Clarksville TN; three daughters, Sharon (Mike) Cobb of Eaton, Ohio, Susan Roberts of Orange, CA and Tami Moore of Orange, CA; three brothers, Leslie (Barbara) Fraley, Dr. Charles (Marlene) Fraley and Robert “Reese” (Barbara) Fraley; two sisters, Edna Garrison and Wilma (Don) Hahn; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by five brothers, John “Chuck” Fraley, Ennis “Short” Fraley, James “Jim” Fraley, Millard “Rab” Fraley and Kimber “Jack” Fraley; two sisters, Mattie Marie Dean and Dixie Mae Hickman.

There will be a public Celebration of Life memorial service on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Eaton Church of the Brethren, 813 Camden Road, Eaton, Ohio with the Rev. Stan Vanausdal. There will be no public visitation and burial will be held privately in Hollansburg Cemetery. Robert E. Dynes (August 16, 2010)

Robert E. Dynes, 81, of Ansonia, passed away Monday afternoon, August 16, 2010 at the Good Samaritan/Dayton Heart Hospital in Dayton.

He was born October 13, 1928 in Greenville, son of the late Walter and Margaret (Clapp) Dynes. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Belinda Dynes; a grandson, Benjamin Hollinger; brothers, Walter Dynes, Jr. and J.W. Dynes; and sisters, Maxine Norris and Joan Ford.

Robert was a painter and had worked for 17 years at the Butter Top Bakery, 17 years at the former Sheller/Globe in Union City, IN and had retired from Fram/Allied Signal in Greenville.

He was an avid fisherman and gardener and loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jane (Young) Dynes whom he married December 13, 1947; children, Bobby (Donna) Dynes of Greenville, Rich (Cheryl) Dynes and Stoney Dynes of Ansonia; daughters, Vicky (Robert) Fields of Mendon and Rocksand (Joby) Hollinger of Greenville; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brothers, James Dynes of Kentucky and Louis (Mary) Dynes of New Carlisle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Doug Klinsing officiating.

Marilyn Ann (Riegle) George, age 78 of Greenville, Ohio went to be with her Lord on Saturday August 14, 2010. She was born on October 17, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Mary Aletha (Schenck) Riegle and George Howard Riegle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert A. George.

Marilyn graduated in 1949 from Greenville High School.

She was employed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for 14 years and secretary to the superintendent of Greenville City Schools for 28 years retiring in 1993.

She was a faithful member of Ansonia Christian Church, having held several board positions.

She is survived by two daughters; Shelley Lynn (Stephen) Brinley of Greenville, Ohio, Mary Kay (Daryl) Riffle of Ansonia, Ohio, a sister: Helen (James) Dull of Greenville, Ohio, a brother: George (Marilyn) Riegle of Troy, Ohio, grandchildren: Nicole Wasson & Fiancé Dana Morgan of Greenville, Ohio, Adam & wife Jessica Riffle of Bellefontaine, Ohio, & Andrew Riffle of Ansonia, Ohio, great grandchildren: Allison & Taylor Wasson, & Cooper & Conner Riffle, & numerous nieces & nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday August 18, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Ansonia Christian Church 123 West Weller Street, Ansonia, Ohio with Pastor Eric Knight & Rev. Lowell Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday August 17, 2010 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio and ½ hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. John W. Cox (August 14, 2010)

John W. Cox, 34, of Greenville, passed away early Saturday morning, August 14, 2010 near Greenville.

He was born January 2, 1976 in Greenville, son of the late John E. Cox and Karen K. Ashley.

John is survived by his children, Jenna, Michael and Colton; a sister, Kristina Gerace; a niece, Ashley Mayo; nephews, Marcus and Tyler Mayo; and a great nephew, Jaden Dakin; maternal grandmother, Leah Ashley; and numerous aunts uncles and cousins.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 19 at 11:30 a.m. at the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens north of Greenville.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. Thursday at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville.

Memorial contributions may be given to the funeral home to help defray the funeral expenses.

Mary E. Johnston (August 12, 2010)

Mary Elizabeth Johnston age 89 of Versailles, Ohio, went to be with the Lord at 1:20 P.M. on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. Mary was born March 25, 1921 in Claysville, Pennsylvania, to the late Alva & Goldie (Kerns) Black.

Mary was a homemaker and caregiver. She was a member of the Versailles United Methodist Church. Mary loved to bake for the Easter Market for the church. She also loved to paint and draw. Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mary is also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Johnston Sr. on March 25, 2010 whom she married July 6, 1942; and a sister, Lucille Meyer.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Nancy Marrs of Versailles; son, Ralph Johnston Jr. of Versailles; grandchildren, Kevin Marrs of Versailles, Alicia & Sam Meadows of Taos, New Mexico, and Libby & Chad Kennard of Grand Junction, Colorado; great grandchildren, Sara Marrs of Moraine, Ohio, and Jade & Ashton Meadows of Taos, New Mexico; sisters, Katherine Dross of Yorkshire and Grace Linniman of Versailles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles, with Pastor Rick Gutheil officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Sidney. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Rosalie C. Fry (August 12, 2010)

Rosalie C. Fry, 84 of Greenville, went to be with her Savior on Thursday evening, August 12, 2010 at Gades Nursing Home.

Rosalie was born near Woodington, in Darke County, OH on July 6, 1926 . She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Clara (Gibson) Childers.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ken Fry: sister Thelma Amspaugh; brother Ralph Childers; and a close friend, C. Leon Smith.

The first eight years of her schooling was at Woodington School, then graduated from Jackson Twp. (Mississinawa Valley) High School in 1944.

She married her husband, Ken in 1946 and he died on December 6, 1986.

Her working years were spent in various offices. She spent 10 years for Joe Zeller Realty Co., 2 years at DP&L and 30 years at Inland Steel Container Co. She retired in 1986.

She was a long time member of the Woodington Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. Rosalie loved to travel and play cards.

Her survivors are a nephew, Robert "Butch" (Elaine) Amspaugh of Greenville; 3 great nephews; and 6 great great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Monday, August 16, at 2 p.m. at Greenville Cemetery (New Part) with the Chaplain Candy Null officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home Monday from 1p.m. to 2 p.m.

The family requests memorial contributions be given to Heartland Hospice or Spirit Medical Transport.

Robert E. Miller (August 7, 2010)

Robert E. Miller, 93, of Jamestown, died at Saturday, August 7th, 2010 at the home of his daughter. Mr. Miller was born Jan.10, 1917 in Darke County, the son of the late Albert and Opal (Myers) Miller.

He was retired bookkeeper at Troutwines Auto Service from 1942 to 1979. He served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. in WWII.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 11th, 2010, at Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum, with Rev. Dan Mayo officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday Noon - 2 PM. at the funeral home.

Mary R. Bergdoll (August 5, 2010)

Mary Rose Bergdoll age 84 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 8:48 A.M. on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Heartland of Greenville. Mary was born May 24, 1926 in Randolph County, Indiana, to the late Clarence and Orpha (Brooks) Heaton.

Mary retired from Sheller Globe in Union City, Indiana. She attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville. Mary was a member of the Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge.

In addition to her parents, Mary is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bergdoll whom she married June 26, 1965; daughter, Rita Kay Ludwick; and brothers, Robert and Frank Heaton.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Linda Sue Winterrowd of Greenville; grandchildren, Luke and Brandy Winterrowd of Greenville and Ty and Debra Winterrowd of Greenville; great grandchild, Marion Winterrowd; brother, Densel Heaton of Modoc, Indiana; and sister, Virginia Frazier of Winchester, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Pete Kontra officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 9, 2010 from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Carl W. Arnett, Jr. (August 2, 2010)

Carl W. Arnett, Jr., 84, of Greenville and formerly from New Madison passed away on Monday, August 2, 2010 at the Brethren Retirement Community. Carl was born in Darke County on April 26, 1926 to the late Carl W., Sr. and Treva (Studebaker) Arnett.

Carl was a sausage maker during most of his life for the Deckers Packing Co. He was very involved in many local sports such as softball, volleyball and soccer. Carl also loved music and was a big fan of gospel, country and bluegrass music. Carl served his country honorably in WWII with the United States Army while serving in the Rhineland Campaign. His decoration is the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Medal. Carl was a member of the VFW and American Legion both of New Madison, as well as the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).

In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his wife, Annie (Brown) Arnett and two brothers, Leonard Arnett and Doran Arnett.

Carl is survived by a daughter, Roseann Bocengra of Wythesville, VA; two grandchildren, Michelle (James) Thobe of Gettysburg and Craig (Teresa) Shaneyfelt of Dublin, VA; two great-grandchildren, Jeremy Thobe and Sabrina Shaneyfelt; and a sister, Maxine (Robert) Fitzgerald of Greenville.

Private services will be at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Eric Fee being asked to officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be given to State of the Heart Hospice on behalf of Carl Arnett, Jr.

Norbert D. Hesson (August 2, 2010)

Norbert Daine Hesson age 85 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 5:10 A.M. on Monday, August 2, 2010 at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. Norbert was born October 20, 1924 in Willowdell, Ohio, to the late Elra and Lucille (Littman) Hesson.

Norbert formerly worked at Standard Oil as a Distributor for the Lima Division for 27 years. Norbert also worked at G.M. in Dayton for 20 years until his retirement on April 1, 1988. Norbert served in the U.S. Army 75th Infantry Division during WWII. Norbert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Versailles and the Versailles American Legion.

In addition to his parents, Norbert is also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth L. (Flatter) Hesson on December 13, 2009, whom he married on November 26, 1947; and a brother, Buddy Dean Hesson.

Norbert is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ritchy and Donna Hesson of Versailles; daughter and son-in-law, Roxanna and Stephen Meyer of Houston; grandchildren, Michelle (Greg) Wagner, Amy Meyer, Douglas Meyer and Lori (Travis) Copeland; great grandchildren, Jeremiah Wagner, Madilyn Wagner and Connor Copeland; nephew, Brad and Crystal Hesson; and nieces, Linda and Michael Zerwick and Jana and Joseph Burnette.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Keith Falk officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park in Covington. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Betty M. Bard (July 31, 2010)

Mrs. Betty M. Bard, 81, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Wayne Hospital, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on July 20, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Marquith & Ruth (Eck) Hawes.
Betty worked at south school as a cook for many years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville. She loved camping.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Bard and brother, Dean Applegate.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Kent & Jane Bard of Greenville; granddaughter, Kendra (Jason) Haworth; great grandson, Bailey Haworth; sister, Donna Gibson of Sun City, Arizona; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a service held on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Damien Dean Kenworthy (July 30, 2010)

Damien Dean Kenworthy, Stillborn, son of Dustin Kenworthy and Stacy Bryant of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010 at Wayne Hospital in Greenville, Ohio.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his Paternal Grandparents, David & Christina Kenworthy of Covington, Ohio and Lisa & Cris Guinn of Hollansburg, Ohio; Maternal Grandparents, Glen Bryant of Greenville and Eunice Bailey of Greenville; Paternal Great Grandparents, Gerald Kenworthy of Woodington, Ohio and Linda Drew of Hollansburg, Ohio; Maternal Great Grandfather, Andy Bryant of Greenville.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Dakota Drew Jay Kenworthy and Paternal Great Grandmother, Marilyn Kenworthy.
