Peggy L. Burns, 74, of Union City, OH, passed away early Thursday morning, August 29, 2013 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.
She was born January 14, 1939, in Clinton County, OH, the daughter of the late Herschel and Mary (Durbin) Garrison. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Burns; a son, Wayne; brothers, Herbert, Roger, Gary, Billy, and Larry; and a sister, Linda.
Peggy had worked for several years at Union Christel Manor in Union City, OH.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia Burns, of Greenville, Thomas A. Burns of Union City, OH, Christina (Willie) Powell of Versailles, OH, Kimberly (Charles) Markle of Portland, IN, and Kenny (Becky) Rogers of Union City, OH; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; her twin sister, Patricia Garrison of Ft. Recovery, OH; brothers, Richard Garrison of Wilmington, OH, and Jack (Rita) Garrison of Clarksville, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 3, from 5-7 p.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice, 1350 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH 45331.
A private service with burial in Snell Cemetery near Union City will take place at a later date.

Loretta May Riddle (August 28, 2013)
Loretta May Riddle, 87, of Greenville, Ohio passed away peacefully late Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at her home with her family at her side.
She was born July 12, 1926 in Versailles, Ohio, daughter of the late Joseph J. and Elisabeth (Mattieu) Barton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Riddle; son David Riddle brothers, Cletus F., Bernard J., Lester, Wilmer J. Barton; sisters, Lucille C. Catherine Dapore and Marie Francis.
Loretta was a devoted mother, and hard worker. She supported her children by working multiple jobs at a time while keeping her strong Catholic faith and values in our family home. She ran a daycare and did laundries. She was employed at Replicap, Maidrite in Greenville, and Westinghouse in Union City, Indiana . She was a life long member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, member of the Rosary Alter Society and the Eagles in Greenville. As per her wishes we are keeping this short and sweet, just like her. As she always said, Love one another and share a good Laugh.
She is survived by her children, Daniel (Kathleen) Riddle of Greenville, Dennis Riddle of Greenville, Rebecca (Paul Graves) of Wenatchee, Washington; grandchildren, Robert Erisman, Lisa (Travis) Nelson, Jason and Daniel Riddle, John Riddle, Mathew Riddle, Angela (Mark) Wellbanks; great grandchildren, Tyler, Allias and Kailyn Nelson, Tyler Fritz, Evan and Luke Wellbanks; brother, Joe (Eloise) Barton of Greenville; sister, Margaret Wenning of Coldwater, OH; brother-in-law, Carl Francis. Barbara was a 1947 graduate of Richmond High School and a 1951 graduate of Earlham College. She studied in institutes in Europe and Latin America, as well as Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Barbara worked in Washington, D.C and in other countries worldwide, including Vietnam, and later retired from the US Government. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Richmond, Indiana.

Barbara is survived by a brother, Edward G. Brown; one niece; six nephews; sixteen great-nieces and nephews; five great, great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, George Brown, Sr., Deborah is preceded in death by step-father, Merlin Haworth; and a brother, Richard Brown.

Pequignot, James “Jim” Leonard (August 23, 2013)
Pequignot, James “Jim” Leonard, died Friday, August 23, 2013, two weeks after his 85th birthday, and nearly 29 years after beating his first cancer diagnosis. Born in Versailles OH in Darke County to Leonard and Marie Pequignot, Jim graduated from Versailles High School after being expelled from Greenville High during his senior year for “knowing more than the teacher”, or so the legend goes.
Jim is survived by Edie, who, with compassion and grace, stood by his side and assisted him his last several months. He is also survived by three sons, Steve, m. Lynne, and granddaughter, Isabelle who, with her grandfather’s blessing, will miss his funeral to begin her freshman year at Mount Holyoke College with him watching proudly from above; Don, m. Livia; Glenn and grandson Jonathan; daughter, Janel; grandson Brian Dean; three great grandsons; brother Gene, m. Dee; and nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, sisters Jo Ann and Marilyn, and brother Joe.
Jim retired from the Air Force after serving 22 honorable years in places including San Antonio, Chanute, Klamath Falls, England, Taiwan, Japan, and TDY in Vietnam and the Phillipines. After retirement, Jim went on to a technology career. For many years he was active with Kettering Rotarians. He enjoyed reading, US, world and military history, bowling, ceramics and art, and, to the chagrin of his children, Rush Limbaugh and country music.
The family wishes to express great appreciation to Christina McKinley, his dedicated caregiver the past months. Visitation at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, August 28, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, 1499 N. Broadway, Greenville OH, followed by funeral service at 2:30. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. Roy Francis Henry, age 93, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 4:50 PM at the Versailles Health Care Center in Versailles, Ohio. He was born on March 11, 1920 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late August C. & Emma C. (Barga) Henry.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Rose J. (Voisard) Henry of Versailles; son, Roger Henry of Versailles; daughters, Mary Subler of Versailles and Linda Henry of Greenville; grandchildren, Kelli (Kevin) Berger, Mike (Carla) Henry, Steve (Tracy) Henry, and Dan (Michelle) Subler; great grandchildren, Payton and Zoey Berger, Landon, Alana, Brayden, Blake, Kirstin, Quinton and Xavier Henry, Cameron and Jonathon Subler; sister in law, Sarah Henry of Marion, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was retired from Monarch Machine and Tool in Sidney with 44 years of services. He was a member of the United States Air Force serving in WWII, St. Denis Catholic Church and Versailles Eagles.

Bevva L. Armstrong, age 83, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 8:00 PM at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Unit, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on November 5, 1929 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Ormal & Mindie (Whittaker) Ross.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Armstrong of Greenville, Ohio, whom she married on October 5, 1948; son and daughter in law, Bill & Jane Armstrong of Greenville; daughter and son in law, Linda & Robert Christman of Greenville; grandchildren, Scott (Angie) Armstrong, Ken (Aimee) Armstrong, Mark (Amanda) Armstrong, and Mike (Whitney) Christman; great grandchildren, Allie, Taylor, Jake, Josh, Bella, Lexi and Eli Armstrong, Wyatt Christman, Katie, Ben and Sam Oliver and Kennedi Strawser; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bevva was a homemaker and loved to travel and play bridge. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greenville, Camping clubs and PTA.

She was born October 17, 1942 in Versailles, Ohio the daughter of the late Marcus B. & Agnes (Roth) Bornhorst. She was a homemaker and cleaned homes for friends for over 30 years.
She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, & a 1961 Graduate of Versailles High School.

Karen Kay Stone, age 56 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 11:40 A.M. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at her residence. Karen was born December 6, 1956 in Greenville, Ohio and the daughter of Kathryn (Estep) Oberer of Greenville and the late Harold Oberer.
Karen was a homemaker, hairdresser and volunteer school teacher. Karen was a rotary exchange student. She attended Trinity Wesleyan Church in Greenville.
In addition to her mother, Karen is survived by her husband, Gordon Stone of Greenville whom she married September 12, 1981; daughters, Tara Mathisen of Lexington, Kentucky and Tanya Sime of Wilmore, Kentucky; grandchildren Chloe Sime and Simeon Sime; and a brother, Steve Oberer of Greenville.

Cathy L. Eckstein (August 17, 2013)
Cathy L. Eckstein, 47, of Greenville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2013. Cathy was born on April 20, 1966 to William G. Tipton and Carolyn S. Tipton of Greenville.
In addition to her parents, Cathy is survived by her husband, Dennis; three children, Erica & Peter Jones of Wichita, Kansas, Brandon C. Eckstein of Lima, Ohio and Caitlyn Eckstein of Greenville; a granddaughter, Madelyn Jones; and a sister, Beth and Lonnie Beisner of Arcanum.
Cathy worked as an optician at Spectacle Shoppe in Greenville, was a teacher and music director at Greenville Baptist Academy, and a consultant with Mary Kay for over 10 years. She enjoyed helping people through all her occupations and looked for ways to enrich the lives of people. She and her husband attended Castine Church of the Brethren and were active in ministry there.
Cathy enjoyed playing the piano. She was a lover of life and was always the life of a party. Cathy had an infectious smile and laugh, and never met a stranger. She looked out for the interest of others and always had time for you if you were having a bad day. Her love for others came from her own relationship with Christ and her deep faith. Cathy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and the time she spent with family and friends was precious to her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Castine Church of the Brethren with Rev. Gary Cloyd officiating. Mary was a 1938 graduate of Greenville High School. She had served as the Clerk for Neave Township for 12 years. She had served on the Darke County Board of Election for 6 years and was a lifelong member of the Darke County Democratic Party having served as the head of the Darke County Democratic Women for several years. She had served as a 4-H advisor for 40 years and enjoyed working with the youth at the Darke County Fair Bake-a-Rama. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women and the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville.
Mary is survived by several nieces and nephews including, Doyle and Jeannette Burns, Jill Schepis, and Larry Cross; special family, Donald, Eileen, Jacob, Peter, Zachary, Laura, and Simon Hoying; and dear friends, Jack and Carole Harless.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 21 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Ft. Jefferson.

She was born November 15, 1924, in Darke County, to the late Lewis S. and Bertha M. (Harshman) Baker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by infant sons Marvin Lee and Melvin Eugene Enochs, infant granddaughter Machelle Lawrence, son-in-law Earl Kent Lawrence, sisters: infant Violet Baker, Thelma Miller, Esther Auter, brothers: Wilbur and Everett Baker.
Helen was retired after 27 years from Corning Glass of Greenville having started there when they opened. In her retirement she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, doing word searches, and playing bingo and cards with her senior friends.
Helen is survived by her husband Lester “Gene” Enochs, whom she married December 25, 1940; daughters Delores Lawrence, Greenville, and Lois Enochs, Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren Donna (Mike) Hohler, Greenville, Steven (Kim) Lawrence, New Madison, Lisa Matyasz, Banks, OR, great grandchildren Pvt. Tony retired from Clopay Corporation with over 20 years of service and formerly worked at Sheller Globe in Union City, Indiana for 26 years. Tony was a 1964 graduate of Ansonia High School. Tony was an avid Reds fan; avid gardener; avid Ansonia Tigers sports fan; and loved hunting & fishing. Tony enjoyed spending time with his family.

Timothy S. Perreira, 53, of Greenville, passed away early Wednesday morning, August 14, 2013 at his residence after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was born July 7, 1960 in Greenville, son of Marlene (Noggle) Perreira of Greenville, and the late Louis Perreira. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his sons, Curtis Perrish and P.J. Perreira.
Tim had driven truck for several of the local trucking companies and had attended the East Zion Church near Greenville.
In addition to his mother, Tim is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sheila (Pelfrey) Perreira, whom he married March 20, 1990; children, Nathan Lane, Jenni Wescott, Jacquelynne (Terry) Harris, Shane (Jaymie) Perreira, Shannon (Chad Reedy) Hill, Mary (Josh) Crank, and Andrew Perreira; grandchildren, Desiree, Skyler, Alexis, Perry, Bryice, Carter, Maryanne, LeeAnna, Shane, Jr., Kaitlyn, Shelby, Travis, Cheyenne, Dallas, Zach, Kazyn. Lova Jean worked at Bonfiglios in New Madison for 20 years. She enjoyed dancing especially at the American Legion dances and spending time with her family. She was an avid and competitive euchre player, and a great cook.

He is survived by Eunice, his wife of 53 years; Georgia Leigh, a daughter residing in Souderton, PA with husband Steve Myers and sons Reid Jakob and Grant Josef; Bradley Kyle, a son residing in Arlington, VA; Kris Alan, a son residing in Cincinnati, OH with wife Connie, daughter Leah Paige, and son Nikolas Glen; Andrew Lee, a son residing in Cincinnati, OH; Lois Kaufman, a sister residing in Mechanicsburg, PA; Rolin, a brother residing in Holliston, MA with wife Grace; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dr. Steinbrecher was born in Green, KS to the late Henry and Elizabeth Steinbrecher. He spent his childhood there until he and his family relocated to Lancaster County, PA, in 1953. He subsequently graduated from Messiah College, in Mechanicsburg, PA, Elizabethtown College, in Elizabethtown, PA, and Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his medical training with a four-year general surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
For six years in the late 1960s and early 1970s, he served on a voluntary basis as medical director at mission hospitals in New Mexico and sub-Saharan Africa.
In 1972, Dr. Steinbrecher established a surgical practice in Greenville, OH, where he was privileged to serve the residents of Darke County for 28 years. During part of this time, he served on the Wayne Hospital board of directors and sat on the board of Pacific Lifeline, a women's shelter in Upland, CA.
He sought challenges throughout his life and achieved many personal goals, among them: becoming a general aviation pilot, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, rafting the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, and completing several long-distance bicycle trips in the U.S. and Canada. He found peace in the outdoors and took great joy in caring for his lawn and the woods surrounding his home.
After his retirement in 2000, he spent many hours at the Pleasant Hill Brethren in Christ Church, where he was a long-time member. He organized and undertook numerous renovation projects, taught Sunday School, and established an audiovisual component for the worship services.
He will be remembered for his love of God, his calling to serve others through the practice of surgery, and for his wisdom, determination, and quiet strength. He was a kind and gentle man, who was much loved. He will be greatly missed as husband, father, "Papa", brother, uncle, and friend.
A visitation will be held at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, OH from 4 to 8 PM on August 14, 2013. A private memorial service will take place at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Creswell Cemetery in Lancaster County, PA, under the direction of the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home.

He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Joy and Dennis Lindamood of Arcanum, Ohio; sons and daughters in law, Richard L. & Eileen Neff of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Douglas A. & Aloha Neff of Morristown, Arizona, and Darrel K. & Leslie Neff of Dayton, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and sister, Joan Kress of Greenville.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Neff; son, David Neff; and brothers, Lester Neff Jr. and Keith Neff.
Richard was a farmer, also worked at NCR for 23 years, was a wood carver and the owner and operator of Neff’s Woodcrafts in Arcanum. He was a member of the United States Army serving in WWII, VFW, American Legion and Trinity United Methodist Church in Arcanum. He volunteered at the Bethany Lutheran Village in the Friends at Home program and was an avid Reds fan.

Mary was a homemaker, a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose and VFW Ladies Auxiliary, as well as the Eagles Lodge all in Greenville. She enjoyed cooking for her family, dancing, taking long walks, harness racing and quilting.

Kathleen L. Williams, age 100 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Bradenton, Florida passed away at 2:45 A.M. Thursday August 8, 2013 at the Brethren Retirement Community of Greenville, Ohio.
She was born November 27, 1912 in Hillsdale County, Michigan and the daughter of the late David O. and Clara M. (Eagle) Crommer.
Kathleen was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lowell E. Williams in 1991 and her son Marlo E. Williams in 2005.
She is survived by her daughters and son in law Jean (Bill) Shepard of Greenville and Marilyn J. Bickham of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Grandchildren Beth Studebaker, David Shepard, Steven (Stef) Shepard, Jennifer Beals, Stuart Bickham, Vicky (Larry) Simpson, Bonnie (Earl) Bigman and Dan E. Williams. There are 12 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Jimmy Lewis, 84, of Greenville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at his home.
He was born January 24, 1929 in Martin, KY, son of the late Jack and Pokie (Bentley) Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, a daughter, Betty Catherine Lewis; 2 granddaughters, Shantel Satterfield and Iliza Satterfield; 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Jimmy was a truck driver that drove for Yellow Frieght for 45 years. He was a member of Teamsters #135.
He is survived by his 5 children, Geneva (Aaron) Andrews of Merryville, TN, Jamie (Mark Hall) Lewis of Merryville, TN, Lisa (Joe) Aker of New Paris, Shannon Miller of Greenville, OH, Jeannie (Jason) Hurd of Palestine, OH; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a sister, Jeannette Marcum of Mentone, IN.
Services will be held Monday, August 12, 2013 at 12 p.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Mike Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville, OH.

Kathryn Jane (Myers) Mikesell, age 95 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Hollansburg passed away at 6:10 A.M. Wednesday August 7, 2013 at the Brethren Retirement Community of Greenville, Ohio. She was born February 7, 1918 in Butler County, Ohio and the daughter of the late Minor H. and Hazel I. (Keller) Myers.
Kathryn was a homemaker and a teacher having taught at Liberty Local and Tri-Village Schools. She retired in 1979 from the Tri-Village School System.
She was a member of the Hollansburg Christian Church, the Women’s Fellowship of the church and Auxiliary Post 708 in Hollansburg. Kathryn enjoyed canning, flower gardening and most of all spending time with her family. Since being at the Brethren Retirement Community she has really enjoyed when the 2nd grade class from Tri Village School came to sing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Donald and Philip Myers and a sister Evelyn Harshbarger and Patricia Myers.
Kathryn is survived by her husband George Robert Mikesell of Greenville. They were married September 3, 1938. Also daughters and sons in law Barbara (Philip) Hosmer of Colorado Springs, CO. and Debbie (Tom) Labig of Greenville. Son and daughter in law Fredrick (Lonna) Mikesell of Sylvania, Ohio. Grandchildren Rebecca (Rod) McDaniel, Roberta (Mike) Hagen, Rochelle (Roger) Richards, Jennifer (Brian) Gruber, Kurt (Tiffany) Labig and Beth (Kerby) Wilcox. Great grandchildren Michael Hosmer, Nathan Hosmer, Grant Bloom, Alexander Hagen, Kristina Hagen, Christopher McGraw, Kathryn Gruber, Kelsey Gruber, Colin Gruber, Kie Labig, Keely Labig, Kade Labig, Kinsley Labig, Kiersten Wilcox, Kenna Wilcox and Kallie Wilcox. William “Bill” L. Moseley, Jr. (August 3, 2013)
William “Bill” L. Moseley, Jr., age 80 of Greenville, OH was born June 3, 1933 in Montgomery Alabama; departing this life on August 3, 2013 in Pickerington, OH. Bill retired from the United States Air Force in 1979 as TSGT. Serving in the Korean conflict, Europe, and the Vietnam War during his career as a Medical Service Specialist and Independent Medical Duty Technician. In Korea, Bill flew with the Airborne Command post for the President of the United States.
As a result of his service, Bill has received the Air Medal, Air Force Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Bill was a life member, Veteran’s Service Officer, and Past State Commander for the Department of Ohio Disabled American Veterans (DAV); his slogan being “We are Family.” He was also a life member and Past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7262 (VFW). A life member and Service Officer of the American Legion. He was an active member of the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard, a member of Amvets, a retiree of Fram, and a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville.
Bill was an advocate for veteran’s rights.
Bill was proceeded in death by his wife of 43 years, Farris (Dunlap), parents William L. and Edna (Elsberry), and a son William L. III. He is survived by a daughter Bobbi (Dean) Lohiser, and son Michael (fiancée Emily Quay), grandchildren – Ian and Alec Lohiser, and William IV and Jameson Moseley.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 8, at the First Presbyterian Church, 114 E. Fourth St., Greenville, with Pastor John Person officiating. Burial with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will follow in the Greenville Cemetery (new part).
The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given either to the Cancer Association of Darke County or the Mt. Linda Lee Jones (August 2, 2013)
Linda Lee Jones, age 60, died at her home on August 2, 2013 surrounded by her family after a 2 year battle with cancer.
Linda was born June 4, 1953 in Richmond, Indiana to the late Richard and Edith (Eaton) Clapp. She graduated from New Madison High School in 1971.
She lived in the Greenville area most of her life and worked as an estimator for Greenville Glass Company for 20 years. Prior to that, she worked on the family farm near Hollansburg, Ohio, raising and showing dairy cattle.
On May 6, 1988 she married Joey Jones in Bradenton, Florida where they resided for 8 years. Linda operated a cleaning business and cleaned condominiums. Later, they returned to their previous home in the Greenville area. They were married happily for 25 years.
Linda was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, The VFW Auxiliary, The DAV Auxiliary, The Women of The Moose, and The Eagles Auxiliary all in Greenville.
Linda will especially be remembered for her love of cooking large family meals and entertaining, the tremendous love she had for her children and grandchildren, her trips to the lake with Joey and their friends, the loving care she provided in her home for her mother for 11 years, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome, fed, and loved.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Joey “Joe” Jones; daughter, Jackie (Rob) Vida of Wilmington, son, Scott (Mendi Burns) Wilt of Greenville, daughter, Angie Rehmert of Arcanum; grandchildren, Bethany, Tori, Savannah, Katie, Harley, Hailee, Levi, Aiyden, Jodee, and Brittani; a great-grandson, Rayge; sisters, Gail (Dan Massie) Cooper, Larae (Rudy) Struever of Greenville, and Vicki Winsett of California; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, August 9, 2013 at 11:00AM at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 North Broadway Street, Greenville, OH. Burial will follow at Greenmound Cemetery near New Madison, OH.
