Jerry E. Howell (January 8, 1938 - August 29, 2009)

Mr. Jerry E. Howell, age 71 of Colorado Springs, Colorado and formerly of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:10 P.M. Saturday August 29, 2009 at the Memorial Hospital of Colorado Springs. Jerry was born January 8, 1938 in Celina, Ohio. He was the son of the late Lewis and Mary (Webb) Howell.

Jerry retired in 1992 as the owner and operator of Howell’s Computer Center of Greenville, Ohio. Also he was the former owner of Howell’s Rental & Sales Store of Greenville.

Jerry’s hobby which developed into a 2nd career was his Model Engines and Design Plans.

He is survived by his wife Edith (Sell) Howell of Colorado Springs. They were married May 3, l958. Also daughters and sons in law—Sherry & Jeff Hogg of Colorado Springs, Charlene & Kelley Keach of Colorado Springs, sons and daughter in law—Allen & Carmen Howell of Hollansburg, Ohio and Roger Howell of Kansas City, Kansas. Also surviving are 7 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, brother and sister in law—Larry & Gloria Howell of New Paris, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.

Loni Gene Walters (June 14, 1963 - August 29, 2009)

Mr. Loni Gene Walters, 46, of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 7:22 AM at Heartland of Greenville. He was born on June 14, 1963 in Darke County, Ohio to Jill (Greer) Walters of Wayne Lakes, Ohio and Larry G. Walters of Greenville, Ohio.

Loni was a self employed carpenter and also sold cars at Hamilton Motors and McNulty’s. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved horses.

In addition to his parents he is survived by; sisters and brothers in law; Lori & Tom Norris of Tipp City, Ohio and Rhonda & Mark Homan of Strongsville, Ohio; brother and sister in law; Jeff & Kathy Walters of Rossburg, Ohio as well as 8 nieces and nephews.

There will be a service held on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Palestine Church of Christ, Palestine, Ohio with Pastor Mike Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 from 5-7 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.

Thomas E. Koon (April 18, 1950 - August 27, 2009)

Thomas E. Koon, age 59 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 9:24 A.M. Thursday August 27, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital Dayton, Ohio. Tom was born April 18, 1950 in Greenville, Ohio. He was the son of the late Chalmer A. & Alberta M. (Wagner) Koon.

Tom was disabled, having worked for many years in the service department of Dayton Power and Light Company.

He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the Treaty City Amateur Radio Club, the ARRL, Greenville Elk’s Lodge and American Legion. Tom very much enjoyed electronics and amateur radio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters—Janis E. Johnson and Marjorie E. Koon.

He is survived by his wife Janet (Snyder) Koon of Greenville. They were married January 12, 1974. Also by his brother and sister in law—Donald & Elizabeth (Vincent) Koon of Georgia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday September 1, 2009 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with the Rev. Lowell Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery with Military Graveside Services conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 till 8 P.M. in the funeral home.

It’s is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to the Cancer Association of Darke County.

Ralph Herman Burkholder (October 7, 1934 - August 23, 2009)

Ralph Herman Burkholder, age 74 of Greenville, Ohio passed away Sunday August 23, 2009 at his home. He was born October 7, 1934 in Henry County, Archbold, Ohio, son of Harold and Alvera (Lindau) Burkholder. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son Roger in June of 1959.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth (Mills); Brothers Glen (Rose) and Harley (Donna); Sister Norma Roth (Veryl); daughter Kathy Jo Burkholder (Bruce Epps); son Robert (Vicki); granddaughter Addy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ralph graduated from Archbold High School in 1952 and from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine on June 13, l958. He was active in Veterinary Medicine for over 50 years. He served in the Air Force as Base Veterinarian at Minot AFB, North Dakota, and was in private veterinary practices in Glasgow, Kentucky and Wauseon, Holmesville, and Shreve, Ohio. He spent the last 30 years of his career working for the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services of the United States Department of Agriculture. Ralph was an Honor Roll Member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and a Life Member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA). He was active in his profession and community having served on numerous boards, including District Representative to the OVMA Board of Trustees, the Greenville Public Library and the Darke County Soil and Water Conservation District. He was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Greenville.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home 1499 N. Broadway Greenville, Ohio. Private burial services will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Ft. Jefferson on Saturday morning August 29, 2009 followed by a public Celebration of Life Service at St. John’s Lutheran Church 7418 St. Rt. 121-N. Greenville, Ohio at 11:30 A.M. with Dr. Veryl Roth and Pastor Hal Robarge officiating. Lunch will follow the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greenville Public Library, State of the Heart Hospice, Wernle Children’s Home Richmond, Indiana and the St. John’s Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Terry E. Price (February 12, 1953 - August 24, 2009)

Mr. Terry E. Price, 56, of Arcanum, Ohio went home to be with the lord on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 8:53 PM. He was born on February 12, 1953 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Charles & Jewel (Dearing) Price.

Terry was the co-owner of Daytep Inc. in Dayton, Ohio and Martins Concessions. He attended the Immanuel Baptist Church in Arcanum, Ohio. He loved his family and friends beyond measures. He enjoyed fishing in his boat, hunting, flying his plane, being at his cabin in Michigan, lighting fireworks and most of all spending time with his family. He was a member of the NRA and was a 1971 graduated of Arcanum High School.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Cheryl Price.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carol (Martin) Price, Arcanum, Ohio; daughters and sons in law, Amy & Matt York of Indianapolis, IN, Tara & Robb Fulker of Troy, Ohio and Jessica & Brandon Wombold of Arcanum, Ohio; grandchildren, Emmy Sue Wombold and Joshie Fulker; brothers and sister in law, David & Karen Price of New Madison, Ohio and Dick Price of the U.S. Virgin Islands; sister and brother in law, Kathy & Bud Gootee of Greenville, Ohio as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a service held on Monday, August 31, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Immanuel Baptist Church, 500 W. South St., Arcanum, Ohio with Pastor Greg Greve, Pastor Dan Kuhbander and Pastor Rick Mowry officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Ft. Jefferson, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 30, 2009 from 2-6 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Ruth E. Ralston (October 26, 1935 - August 22, 2009)

Ruth E. Ralston age 73, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 1:08 P.M. on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Ruth was born October 26, 1935 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Raymond & Doris (Rickert) Stump.

Ruth was a homemaker and formerly worked at Covington Care Center. She attended East Main Street Church of Christ in Greenville.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Ralston on March 24, 1995; daughter, Ruth Ann Ralston; and brothers, Richard, Robert, Rodney, Harry and Delbert Stump.

Ruth is survived by a son, Larry Ralston of Lucasville, Ohio; daughters & sons-in-law, Shirley Ertel & companion, Jeff Nicodemus of Bradford, Pam & Butch Himes of Montpelier, Indiana, Georgia & Bruce Varnham of Australia, and Mary & Wilbur Mizer of Covington; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; brothers, Raymond Stump of Union City, Ohio, Gilbert Stump of Columbus, and Chuck Stump of Eaton; and sisters, Mary Alice Alexander of Union City, Ohio, Dorothy Hiestand of Rossburg, Martha Neal of New Weston, Catherine Stump of Greenville and Nellie Stump of Greenville.

Glenn P. Showalter (April 3, 1930 - August 21, 2009)

Glenn P. Showalter, age 79, of Greenville passed away at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, August 21, 2009 at his residence. Glenn was born on April 3, 1930 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Lewis & Marietta (Miller) Showalter.

Glenn graduated from Greenville High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1951 to March 1953 including a Tour of Duty in Korea.

Glenn married Patricia Applegate on June 27, 1953. They lived in Greenville and following retirement, they wintered in Ft. Myers, Florida.

Glenn spent 27 years as an electrical engineer at Dayton Power & Light. He was an accomplished carpenter and handyman. Glenn’s love of the countryside prompted him to purchase a farm outside of Greenville in 1962 that he farmed for over 40 years. While in Ft. Myers, he also served as a non-ambulatory transport assistant for the Comfort Services of Southwest Florida and maintained apartments.

Glenn’s love of the outdoors was fulfilled by his farming and love for fishing. He spent many hours boating and fishing in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the inlet waterways outside Ft. Myers. He supported local athletic teams as a Little League coach and served as a videographer for Greenville Sr. High Football & Basketball games for several years.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Patricia (Applegate) Showalter, his son, G. Marc Showalter and his wife, Angela (Swickrath) of Cincinnati and daughter, Amy Renae Showalter-Boyer and her husband, Randy Boyer of Cincinnati. He is also survived by his grandson, Alex James Miller of Powell, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery (New Section). The family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice and the Greenville Missionary Church.

Ethel A. Irwin (March 14, 1925 - August 19, 2009)

Ethel A. (Hollinger) Irwin age 84 of Greenville passed away at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. Ethel was born March 14, 1925 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late George Hollinger & Esther (Cable) and Foster Riffle.
Ethel was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Ethel is also preceded in death by a grandson, Benjamin Hollinger; brother, George (Dutch) Hollinger and a sister, Gloria Ruble.

Ethel is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald Irwin; son and daughter-in-law, Richard (Joby) & Rocksand Hollinger of Greenville; daughters & son-in-law, Linda Cook of Georgia and Debbie & Jimmy Bain of Greenville; grandchildren, Pennie & Troy Gasper of Ansonia, Dusty & Allison Laux and Joey & Amy Laux of Georgia, and Jessica & Aaron Kimmel of Greenville; great grandchildren, Whitney & Wyatt Gasper, Jonah, Sam, Allison, Kenzie and Cammie Laux and Tori, Landen and Logan Kimmel; sister, Jane Riegle of Greenville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cheryl A. Bruce, 65, of the Hogpath Rd., Greenville died Thursday afternoon, August 20, 2009, at the Brethren Retirement Community. She was born December 18, 1943 in Dayton to the late Richard and Phyllis (Archer) Clinehens. Mrs Bruce was a homemaker and a mother. Cheryl was preceded in death by her brother Gary A. Clinehens. She is survived by her husband Michael G. Bruce whom she married June 22, 1962; 3 daughters, Heidi E. Smith; April L. (John) Kelly; Kelly J.(James) Dias all of Greenville; 8 grandchildren, Daniel Gadzinsky, Justin Kelly, Kenneth Turner, Taylor Smith, Ian Michael Bruce, Marissa Smith, Candi Miller, Steven Kelly, John Kelly III; Aunt Betty I. Norman E. Anthony (March 9, 1917 - August 16, 2009)

Norman E. Anthony age 92 of Greenville passed away at 2:45 A.M. on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Norman was born March 9, 1917 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Earl & Olive Anthony.

Norman retired from Anchor Hocking in Winchester, Indiana with 31 years of service.

In addition to his parents, Norman is also preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Resor) Anthony; infant daughter, Carol Anthony; and brothers: Lowell & Carl Anthony; sisters: Reva Zimmers, Evelyn Zimmers

Norman is survived by his brother: Delbert Anthony of Greenville; sister Hazel Harless of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at Abbottsville Cemetery in Darke County, Ohio with Chaplain Bob Bitner officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville.

Clarence North, Jr. (December 25, 1927 - August 16, 2009)

Clarence (Junior) North Jr, 81, of Greenville, died Sunday evening, August 16, 2009, at Wayne Hospital. Junior was born December 25, 1927 in Darke County, to the late Clarence and Roma (Fritz) North. He was a member of St Matthew's Lutheran Church, Ithaca, and a former member of the Eagles Lodge, Greenville. Junior was retired, after 40 years employment, from the former John Smith Grain Company, Arcanum. Survived by wife Annette (Garrison) North whom he married on Sept 26, 1944, two daughters Vickie Winters and husband Richard and Jane Buschur and husband William both of Henderson, NV. Grand children Melissa Lusch, Christine Stott and husband Gary, Stephanie Roberts and Chad Buschur and wife Michele, Four great grandchildren. Four sisters Patricia (Harold) Wogoman, Greenville, Marcia Shafer, Eaton, Connie (Larry) Bueter, and Diane (Jim) Rohrer both of Lima, two brothers Phillip (Boob)(Leota) North, Greenville and Ronnie (Martha Dickey) North, Wayne Lakes. He was preceded in death by a brother Gene North, and 2 sisters, Joan Cheadle and Sharon Reed. Funeral Services will be held at Kreitzer Funeral Home in Arcanum at 1 P.M. Charles R. Price (September 15, 1927 - August 16, 2009)

Charles Richard Price, 81 of New Madison formerly Arcanum passed over peacefully Sunday morning, August 16, 2009 at home. Charlie was born September 15 1927 in Greenville to John and Alice (Canan) Price. He was employed at Acme Precision Products in Dayton then later at Becketts Grain elevator in West Manchester, retiring from Troutwines grocery in Greenville. Charlie married the love of his life, Jewel Dearing and celebrated 52 years of marriage until her passing on December 31,2000. Other family who preceded him in death are a daughter Cheryl Lynn Price on May 1 1963, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Surviving Charlie include his daughter Kathy Gootee and her husband Bud of Greenville; 3 sons, David Price and his wife Karen of New Madison, Dick Price of the Virgin Islands, Terry Price and his wife Carol of Arcanum. Winifred F. Kunkel (July 25, 1921 - August 14, 2009)

Winifred F. Kunkel age 88 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of West Colesville, New York, passed away at 4:05 P.M. on Friday, August 14, 2009 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio. Winifred was born July 25, 1921 in Windsor, New York, to the late Fred & Ernestine (Hoadley) Riley.

Winifred was a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Greenville, Ohio, and a former member of West Colesville Baptist Church in New York.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Irven F. Kunkel and son, Timothy Kunkel.

Winifred is survived by a daughter & son-in-law, Faith & Rev. Bill Baker of Greenville, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Jane Johnson of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Chris & Wendy Baker, Tim Baker, Matthew Kunkel, Ben & Jennifer Kunkel and Joshua & Katie Kunkel; 8 great grandchildren; and sisters & brothers-in-law, Dorothy & Arlyn Cowell of Windsor, New York and Marjorie & Rev. Romain Herbert Rismiller (July 4, 1919 - August 12, 2009)

Mr. Romain Herbert Rismiller age 90 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday August 12, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. He was born July 4, 1919 in Versailles, Ohio the son of the late Gustav & Elenora (Sander) Rismiller and was raised in the North Star area growing up on the family farm. He worked for Dayton Power and Light for 26 then worked for Uhlmans Department Store. He was a Veteran of World War II from 1942 to 1945 serving in the Army Air Corp 90th Bomb group called the Jolly Rogers in the South Pacific. He was and avid bowler and horseshoe pitcher, his hobby was gardening and he was a diehard Reds fan. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife: Charline (Weidner) Rismiller of Greenville; Sons: Jerry L. Rismiller of Arvada, Co., Alan K. Rismiller of Greenville; Daughter & son in law: Jolene K. & John Hangen of Arcanum; Grandchildren & spouse: Stacey L. & Steve Gellner of Hilliard, Ohio, Emily A. Olive Magnolia Clark, 17 day old daughter of Shannon P. and Brittany N. (Young) Clark of Greenville, passed away early Thursday morning, August 13, 2009 at Children's Hospital in Columbus.

In addition to her parents , she is survived by a sister, Nevaeh "Navie" Clark, at home; paternal grandparents, Katherine D. Alspaugh, Steve Clark all of Greenville and Barry Drake of Dayton; maternal grandparents, Roger and Alisa Young of Ansonia; paternal great grandparents, Freda and Hubert Reier of Greenville and Elva Clark of Dayton; maternal great grandparents, Harold and Roxie Young of Greenville, Bobby and Nancy Crye and Richard and Lois Wiley all of New Paris.

M. Sue Roberts, age 79 of Arcanum, Ohio passed away on Wednesday August 12, 2009 at 2:40 AM at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was born May 13, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio the daughter of the late Charles J. & Ruth M. (Smith) Gruber. She was retired and a member of the Family of God Ministries.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday August 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Joe LeMaster officiating. Rolland John Everhart (May 3, 1914 - August 12, 2009)

Mr. Rolland John Everhart, age 95 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 4:50 A.M. Wednesday August 12, 2009 at Heartland Nursing Home of Greenville, Ohio. Rolland was born May 3, 1914 in Greenville, Ohio. He was the son of the late Ira & Fannie (Heck) Everhart.

Rolland retired in 1972 from the Frigidaire Division of General Motors of Dayton, where he was employed in Plant Protection.

He was a veteran of W.W. II, serving in the U.S. Army. Rolland was also a sixty year member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge, member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, Elks Lodge, a 1932 graduate of Greenville High School, an avid golfer and sports fan.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two brothers—Howard “Red” Everhart and Charles Everhart.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Helen (Shiverdecker) Everhart of Greenville. They were married August 16, 1941. Also by his daughter and son in law—Jane Ann & Jim Wiser of Englewood, Ohio, grandsons—Brian Wiser and Brett (Amy) Wiser. Nephews—Scott Everhart and Stephen Everhart. Niece—Barbara Pettigrew as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Friday August 14, 2009 at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with the Rev. David Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the services in the funeral home.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to the Cancer Association of Darke County.

Mary T. Magoteaux (July 13, 1932 - August 11, 2009)

Mary T. Magoteaux age 77 of Versailles passed away at 12:30 A.M. on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. Mary was born July 13, 1932 in Yorkshire, Ohio, to the late Robert & Helen (Schlater) Schulze.

Mary retired from Corning Glass in Greenville. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles and sang in the church choir.

In addition to her parents, Mary is also preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Magoteaux on May 2, 1997, whom she married November 11, 1950; sons, Charles and David Magoteaux; 2 grandchildren; sisters, Vera Bemus, Betty Baltes and Helen Frantz; and brothers, Clarence, Paul and Urban Schulze.

Mary is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Robert & Shirley Magoteaux of Versailles, Joseph & Joyce Magoteaux of Versailles, Jack & Karen Magoteaux of Versailles, Jim & Carolyn Magoteaux of Piqua and Mike & Diane Magoteaux of Ft. Loramie; daughters & son-in-law, Rhonda Magoteaux of Versailles and Lori & Charles Ricketts of Piqua; daughter-in-law, Elaine Magoteaux of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 19 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brothers & sisters-in-law, Albert & Mary Lou Schulze of Russia and Ralph & Rita Schulze of Russia; sisters & brothers-in-law, Hilda Battson of Sidney, Norma Middendorf of Ft. Loramie, Luella & Ronald Albers of Ft. Robert E. Wallace (April 7, 1927 - August 10, 2009)

Mr. Robert E. Wallace, age 82 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:50 A.M. Monday August 10, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton. Robert was born April 7, l927 in Dayton, Ohio. He was the son of the late Guy and Bertha (Buzzard) Wallace.

Robert formerly worked as a sales representative for Wills Trucking Company of Cleveland, Ohio and later for the Goshen Indiana Trucking Company. He later retired from the Genoa Christian Church where he served as their Lay Minister for five years.

He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the Submarine Service of the U.S. Navy. A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, the Darke County Y.M.C.A., a volunteer with Hospice of Darke County and an active member of the McDonald’s morning coffee gang.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Robert is survived by his wife Mrs. Germaine (Bulcher) Wallace of Greenville. They were married December 6, l972. Also by his children: Jeff Wallace (Wilma) of Swanton, Mike Wallace (Cindi) of Toledo, Tom Wallace (Cindy) of Toledo, Sandy Morse of Toledo, Mary Ann Lorenzen (Rick) of Traverse City, Michigan and Kathy Palmer (Steve) of Adrian, Michigan. Also 23 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, a sister Nettie Mae Taylor of Miamisburg and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday August 21, 2009 in the First Presbyterian Church 114 East Fourth St., Greenville, Ohio with the Rev. Dr. John Person officiating.

George Dixon (September 14, 1920 - August 9, 2009)

Mr. George Dixon, age 88 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Sunday August 9, 2009 at 7:04 PM at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio. He was born September 14, 1920 in Winchester, Indiana the son of the late George & Pearl (Spencer) Dixon.

He served in the Army during World War II serving as a medic on the beaches of Normandy, at the Battle of the Bulge, and survived the sinking of the vessel Susan B. Anthony. He received a Bronze Star for his service. His occupation was route sales. As a young child he was prolific in Ciphering. He was a member of the Western Ohio Woodworking Club, Leisure Club, and was an avid woodworker.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Wife: Elsbeth Dixon on December 29, 2008; Grandson: Sgt. Steven P. King; Brother: Arthur Dixon; Sisters: Mabel Crumrine, Stella Unger.

He is survived by his Daughters & son in law: Sandra King of Greenville, Lin & Jeff Roberts of Greenville; Grandchildren & Spouse: Skye Roberts, Chelsea & Randy Preston; Great Grandson: Steven Lonnie King; Step Great Grandson: Cole Preston; Sisters: Elberta Warren of Greenville, Betty Dixon of Richmond, Indiana.

M. Lucille Baker (August 10, 2009)

M. Lucille Baker, 89, of Greenville and formerly of Arcanum, passed away late Monday evening, August 10, 2009 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

She was born in Greenville, daughter of the late John Earl and Daisy (Wion) Fenstermaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman M. Baker; two brothers, Lawrence and Doyle Fenstermaker; and a sister, Iona Anthony.

A homemaker, Lucille had helped her husband with the family farm. She was very active with numerous activities at the Darke County Fair, the Van Buren Township election precinct, and with her husband, had clerked sales for many years.

She is survived by her children, Jerrlyn (Larry) Hart of Pitsburg and Merlin (Kate) Baker of Bradford; grandchildren, Curt and Jodi Myers of Kansas City, MO, Kandi and Mike Diamond of Arcanum, Brian Baker of Centerville, OH, and Mindy and Charlie Battles of Chillicothe, OH; great grandchildren, Carissa, Corban, Courtney and Chloe Myers, Amanda and Eric Desjardins, Kayla Diamond and Lucas Battles; a brother, John Fenstermaker; and a sister, Ruby Young both of Greenville.

Services will be held Saturday, August 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Chaplain Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to either the Brethren Home Resident Aid Fund or State of the Heart Hospice.

Donald A. Beam (May 9, 1939 - August 5, 2009)

Mr. Donald A. “Bouncer” Beam, 70, of Versailles, Ohio passed away on Wednesday August 5, 2009 at 3:20 PM at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. He was born on May 9, 1939 to the late Stanley & Hazel (Lavy) Beam.
Donald was self employed, a member of the United States Army, American Legion in Ansonia, Ohio and was in the Methodist Religion.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by; brothers, William Stanley Beam Jr. and Charles Duane Beam; sister, Rita Elizabeth “Betty” Shotz.

He is survived by; children, Chad Beam of New Weston, Ohio, Jaci Noggle, Randy Beam and Tonya Hawes; 2 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers in law, Freda & Hubert Reier and Delores & David Partin-Cleveland; brothers and sisters in law, Dale & Cindy Beam, Ralph & Joannie Beam, Harold “Howie” & Deb Beam, Dan & Peg Beam and Roger & Chris Beam; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a service held on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio with Pastor Samuel Hoeflich officiating. Burial will follow in the Brock Cemetery, Brock, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday August 9, 2009 from 2-4 PM at the funeral home. There will be a Graveside Military Service conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.

Ryan Scott Mowen (July 29, 2009 - August 4, 2009)

Ryan Scott Mowen, infant son of Kara Mowen of Yorkshire, Ohio passed away at 8:39 P.M. Tuesday August 4, 2009 in the Miami Valley Hospital Dayton, Ohio. Ryan was born July 29, 2009 in Dayton.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his Twin Brother—Devin Hunter Mowen, Maternal Grandparents—Scott & Lisa Mowen of Yorkshire, Aunts—Christina Knipp, Rebecca Mowen and Audrey Mowen. Uncles—Jason & Brandon Mowen.

He was preceded in death by an Uncle—Ryan Scott Mowen.

Charles E. Coffman (June 25, 1931 - August 4, 2009)

Mr. Charles E. “Chuck” Coffman, 78, of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday August 4, 2009 at 6:50 PM at Hospice of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. He was born on June 25, 1931 in Marion, Indiana to the late Myrl G. & Violet M. (Rinehart) Coffman.
He worked at Armstrong Mold in Winchester, Indiana as well as General Houseware in Sidney, Ohio. Chuck was a member of the United States Navy serving in the Korean Conflict, Knights of Columbus, VFW in Greenville, American Flint Glass Workers, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Choir at church as well as an avid golfer.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by; wife, Mary L. Coffman whom he married on June 4, 1960 and a brother Robert Coffman.

He is survived by; children, David Coffman of Greenville, Maria Coffman of Greenville, Brian Coffman of West Milton, Ohio and Scott and wife Yvonne Coffman of Kimmell, Indiana; grandchildren, Jenna Coffman and Joseph Erskine; step grandchildren, Loretta Flenar and Katie Brandon; 3 step great grandchildren; brother and sister in law, Glen & Betty Jean Coffman of Greenville; sister, Darlene Slusher of Auburn, Indiana as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 9:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 233 W. 3rd St., Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Fr. John White celebrant. Mr. Donald R. Sides, 65, of Arcanum, Ohio passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 12:41 PM at Holland Hospital, Holland, Michigan. He was born on July 2, 1944 in New Lebanon, Ohio to the late Lester and Martha (Rurode) Sides.

Donald worked at Hobart Brothers in Troy. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Keith Sides and father in law, Talmage Miller.

He is survived by; wife, Barbara (Miller) Sides of Arcanum, Ohio whom he married on November 9, 1963; son, Chris Sides of Greenville; daughter, Becky Sides and Greg Wardlaw of Columbus, Ohio; grandson, Christopher Sides; brothers and sisters in law, Charles & Melinda Sides of Anderson, Indiana and Dennis & Janice Sides of Greenville; sister and brother in law, Verna & Jim Cook of Covington, Ohio; sister in law, Marie Sides of Pennsylvania; mother in law, Alma Filbrun of Arcanum, Ohio as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Lois Jean Thomas (February 21, 1932 - July 29, 2009)

Lois Jean (Harrell) Thomas, age 77 of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday July 29, 2009 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee. She was born February 21, 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frank Mason & Emilie Esther (Ritterbush) Harrell.

She was a retired as a registered nurse and was a member of the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and Sister: Edith Beasley.

She is survived by her husband: Jervis Edward Thomas of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee; Son: Brian Edward Thomas of Chicopee, Mass.; Daughter: Beth Thomas of Bryan, Ohio; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.

Robert W. "Dauber" Cline (August 4, 2009)

Robert W. "Dauber" Cline, 87, of Greenville, passed away late Tuesday evening, August 4, 2009 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
He was born in Greenville, son of the late Irvin W. and Carma (Schlamb) Cline. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Edythe L (Weikert) Cline; a daughter, Linda Bain; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Cline.

A 1941 graduate of Greenville High School, Dauber was a self employed painter in the Greenville area for over 30 years. He was a Veteran of the US Coast Guard having served during WWII. He had attended Beamsville Christian Church in Beamsville.

He is survived by a son, David (Connie Brinley) Cline of Greenville; grandchildren, Lisa (Ron) Hileman, Michelle (Ross) Diaz and Jody (Rick) Hocker all of Greenville, Jeff (Joy) Cline of Columbus, Julie (Shane) Beggs of Canada and Justin (Kelly) Cline of Cincinnati; and 18 great grandchildren.

Graveside services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held Friday, August 7 at 2:30 p.m. at the Greenville Cemetery (old part) with the Rev. Sam Hoeflich officiating.

There will be no public visitation. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Leukemia Foundation.

Services have been entrusted with the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville.

Wilda F. Hubler (July 21, 1917 - August 2, 2009)

Wilda F. Hubler, 92, former resident of the Brethren Retirement Community and Treaty Manor of Greenville respectively, and a former New Madison resident passed away on August 2, 2009.

She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Lucy (Schaeffer) Swathwood, and sons Murl Lee and Ray Hubler.

Wilda is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Harry (Frances) Hubler of Phillipsburg; four grandchildren: April (Robert) Osborne of New Madison, Harry (Miriam) Hubler, Jr. of Monticello, Kentucky, Charman (Kenton) Cole of Lomax, Illinois, and Benjamin (Melissa) Hubler of Albers, Illinois; ten great-grandchildren: Darlene (Scott) Meyers, Robert II, Jeffery, and Allison Osbourne all of New Madison, Harry III, Brandi, Eli and Zachariah Hubler all of Monticello Kentucky, Montgomery and Carter Hubler of Albers, Illinois; three step-great-grandchildren: Joshua and Justin Cole of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Adryan Swahn of Albers, Illinois; two step-great-great grandchildren, Gracie and Averi Cole of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and many cousins.

Visitation for Wilda will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the Storch Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. Funeral Services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2009 with the Rev. Todd Reish being asked to officiate. Interment will follow in the Greenmound Cemetery.

Ruth G. Noggle (March 15, 1917 - July 28, 2009)

Ruth G. Noggle, age 92, passed away at her home in Economy, IN on Tuesday, July 28, 2009. She was born in Darke County, Ohio to the late Samuel L. and Sarah Belle Eury Fort on March 15, 1917.

Ruth is survived by her husband, John Noggle.

Ruth retired from AVCO in 1974. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her seven brothers; Stanley, Forrest, Adrion, Leonard, Kenneth, Harold and Lloyd; two sisters, Catherine Fort and Margueritte Fort Phillips Griffith. Private services and burial will be held at Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison at the convenience of the family.

Keith A. Hoisington (February 3, 1958 - July 31, 2009)

Keith A. Hoisington, 51, of Arcanum died early Friday morning, July 31 2009 at his residence. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 3, 1958, the son of the late Howard and Deloris (Lambert) Hoisington. Keith was employed as an Metal Fabricator at West Milton Fabricators, Greenville. Keith was a devoted father and grandfather; avid ham radio operator and enjoyed gardening and computers. He was a life member of the Sierra Club. Keith was survived by his wife Kathy (Freed) Hoisington whom he married December 8, 1984; daughter Kymberlee Burton and husband Lee of Lewisburg; son, Tyler Hoisington of Arcanum; granddaughters, Star and Sky Burton; grandson, Blaze Burton; step granddaughter, Kimberlee Burton; two brothers, Bill Hoisington and wife Cindy of Greenville, Larry Hoisington and wife Penny of Tipp City and Nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM Thursday August 6, 2009 at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum. The family will receive friends Thursday evening one hour before the memorial service. Memorial contributions to the Kathy Hoisington Benefit Fund, held with the Second National Bank.
