Lillian A. Longfellow (July 28, 2012)

Lillian A. Longfellow, age 84, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday July 28, 2012 at 1:10 PM at her residence. She was born on January 21, 1928 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Robert & Doris (Cole) Altick.

She is survived by her daughters, Steffanie Baker of Greenville, Linda McCullough of McKinney, Texas, Cathy Dotson of Greenville, and Teressa McGuire of Greenville; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; beloved little dog, Mr. Dickens; special niece and nephew in law, Denise & Larry O’Dell of Greenville; special friend, Mike Acker of Greenville; sister in law, Kay (Ed) Curry of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Longie” Longfellow Jr., whom she married on August 7, 1970; daughter, Louise Nan Payne; son, Larry Longfellow; brothers, Buster, Bill and Jim; sisters, Sarah and Pat.

Lillian was retired from Eikenberry’s South town as the Produce Manager and also worked at the Elks as a bartender. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 140, Greenville Eagles Auxiliary, lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, and enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino.

There will be a service held on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Chaplain John Nunnally officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Monday, July 30, 2012 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary will conduct a Lodge of Sorrow on Monday evening at 7:45 PM at the funeral home.

Shawn E Ditmer (July 30, 2012)

Shawn E Ditmer age 54 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 12:45 P.M. on Monday, July 30, 2012 at Heartland of Greenville. Shawn was born August 31, 1957 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Eugene & Barbara (Jessup) Ditmer.

Shawn is survived by his wife, Nancy (Wallace) Ditmer whom he married March 10, 2000; sons & daughter-in-law, Michael & Joanna Plush of Hollansburg and John Plush of Greenville; grandchildren, Jackson, Wyatt, Dillan & Jesse; mother-in-law, Elva Wallace of Colorado; sisters & brother-in-law, Sharon & Kenny Partin of Hillgrove and Becky Silcott of Greenville; sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Merle & Richard Lighter of Colorado and Teresa Emhoff of Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Shawn is also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Thomas Jackson Wallace and a brother-in-law, Dennis Silcott.

Shawn was a machine operator at Klockner Pentaplast of America-Whitt Plastics in Greenville. Shawn attended Northside Community Fellowship in Greenville.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Randy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Hollansburg Cemetery in Hollansburg. H. Dale Organ, age 67, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 12:27 PM at his residence. He was born on October 21, 1944 in North Lewisburg, Ohio, to the late William Organ & Jaunice (Robinson) Ryan.

Dale is survived by his wife, Audrey (Quilling) Organ of Greenville; sons, Brian (Gina Smith) Townsend of Union City, Ohio, and Charles Organ of Ohio; daughter, Nicki Gilbert and Toby Gilbert of Greenville; step daughter, Christine Shank of Englewood, Ohio; step son, Richard Allen (Aurora) Shank of Panama City, Fl.; grandchildren, Kyle Organ, Brandon Gilbert, Kayla Gilbert, Kelsey Gilbert, Jason Shaw, Matthew Townsend, Benjamin Townsend, Joseph Bright, Jesse Bright, Sydnee Townsend, Brooklyn Hunley, Brandon Townsend, and Mahala Townsend; sisters, Norma Dakin of Ansonia, Ohio, Virginia (Dave) Petty of Union Town, Ohio, and Carole (Richard) McClay of Florida; half sister, Judy Smith of Florida; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (David) Plentovich, Deanne (Scott) Howell, Shawn Gowens, Ann (Mark) Beste, Robert Petty, Danette (David) Fitzgerald, Chris (Deana) McClay, Adam McClay, and Matt (Wendy) Minnich; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, William Organ Jr.; sister, Susan Davis; and great grandson, Jayden Shaw.

Dale worked at the Royal Crest Dairy in Dayton, Ohio, City of Eaton, and delivered papers for the Greenville Advocate. He served in the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Navy. He loved fishing, boating, motorcycles and computers. He was a former member of the VFW, American Legion and Eagles.

There will be a service held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Rob Dauber officiating. Burial will be in the Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio at 2:00 PM. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

William Michael Phillip Schilling-Radcliff, age 2 months, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 12:10 PM in the emergency room at Wayne HealthCare Center, Greenville, Ohio. He was born on May 15, 2012 in Greenville, Ohio, to Amanda Schilling of Greenville, Ohio, and Chris Radcliff of Cambridge City, Indiana.

William is survived by his parents; twin sisters, Autumn and Brianna Schilling-Dotson; maternal grandparents, William & Lori Worley of Greenville; maternal great grandmother, Shirley Schilling of Greenville; paternal grandparents, Wanda & Dave Fisher of Cambridge City, Indiana; aunts and uncles, Beth & Kyle Lewis of Union, Ohio, Sarah & Kyle Harrison of Greenville, Heather & Ryan Casto of Fairborn, Ohio, and Timothy Worley of Fairborn, Ohio; godfather, Jesse Hammacker of Greenville; as well as numerous cousins.

He is preceded in death by his maternal great grandfather, Harold Schilling.

William was a baptized member of the First United Methodist Church.

There will be a visitation held on Monday, July 30, 2012 from 1-2 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow the visitation in the Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Tipp City, Ohio, with Pastor Joe Payne officiating.

David E. Woodruff (July 27, 2012)

David E. Woodruff, age 69 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Friday July 27, 2012 at 6:30 AM at his residence. He was born April 8, 1943 in Lima, Ohio the son of the late Eugene Emerson & Hyla Lilla (Butler) Woodruff. He worked for the Ohio State Patrol for 13 years and for Doss Business Systems for 8 years.

He was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church, Fraternal Order of Police, Greenville Moose Lodge, Greenville Eagles. He loved fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother: Richard E. Woodruff.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Ellen (Bloomfield) Woodruff of Greenville, sons & daughter in law: David E. & Dawn Woodruff of Lightsville, Ohio, Eugene E. Woodruff of Sidney, Ohio; daughters & son in law: Kathryn Flatter of Lakeview, Ohio, Nannette K. & Gary Spahr of Greenville; 2 granddaughters; 6 grandsons; 1 great grandson; sister: Maryanne Hartley of West Carrolton, Ohio.

Graveside memorial services will be held on Friday August 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Jefferson, Ohio with Pastor Ted McGurdy officiating. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dave & Becky Simon of Greenville, Ohio, John & Mary Ann Simon of Bradford, Ohio, Bill & Elizabeth Simon of Lexington, Kentucky, Tom & Wilma Simon of New Bremen, Ohio, Tim & Peg Simon of Houston, Ohio, Ed & Erm Simon of Sparks, Nevada, Jerry Simon of Piqua, Ohio, Jane & Gery Monnin of Troy, Ohio, Susan & Lowell Wolaver of Ft. Loramie, Ohio, and Steve Simon of Russia, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Lucille Virden of Versailles, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband James Simon; brothers, Louis “Frenchy” Peltier, Joseph “Joe” Peltier, Homer Peltier, and Ralph Peltier.

Mary was a devoted wife and mother and was a member of the St. Denis Catholic Church.

Mary Ann is survived by her children and their spouses, Nancy (Bub) Bomholt of Maria Stein, Ohio, Keith (Suzanne) Nieberding of Leo, Indiana, David (Ruta) Nieberding of Delta, Ohio, Katherine (FiancĂ© Bill) York of Gettysburg, Ohio, Jane Plants of Berea, Kentucky, and Bill (Nancy) Nieberding of Columbus, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sisters in law, Bernadine Niekamp of Rossburg, Ohio, and Alice “Sarie” Niekamp of Osgood, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard “Barney” Nieberding; brothers, Victor Niekamp and Orville Niekamp.

She retired as the Senior Volunteer Program Director for the Council on Rural Services after many years of service. She was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church in North Star and Business & Professional Women’s Club. She volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity, State of the Heart Hospice, and Darke County Center for the Arts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church in North Star, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. David Zink and Rev. Fr. Rick Nieberding co-celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery, North Star, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 29, 2012 from 2-6 PM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio, as well as from 9:30-10:30 on Monday at the church.

Curtis J. Long, age 55 of Arcanum, Ohio passed away Tuesday July 24, 2012 at his residence in Arcanum. Curt was born May 3, 1957 in Greenville, Ohio and the son of the late Richard & Jane (Blumenstock) Long.

Curt was a realtor at Dick Long Reality of Arcanum.

He is survived by his wife Diane (Besecker) Long of Arcanum. They were married August 8, 1980. Also by his daughter Brooke Long of Arcanum. Brothers and sisters in law Scott & Susie Long of Arizona; Doug Long of Pitsburg and David & Wendy Long of Brookville, Ohio. Sisters and brothers in law Nancy & Bob Shiffler of Dayton and Lisa & Brad Bixler of Pitsburg. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Alice Moore Hollinger (July 22, 2012)

Alice Moore Hollinger 90, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on July 22, 2012. Alice was born on August 10, 1921 in Greene County, Ohio to the late Joseph and Verna(Miller)Coy.

Alice worked as a Assistant Administrator at The Brethren's Retirement Community. She worked there from 1964 until 1984. She was a member at Cedar Grove Church. Alice had a love for many things. She was very passionate about music and playing the piano. She also cared very much about her church and The Lord. Alice enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and baking. One of Alice's prized possessions was her family. She loved all her family and loved to be with them and each one of them were special to her.

Alice is preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde M. Moore; second husband, Lester Hollinger; daughter in law, Mary Lou Moore; brother, Lawrence Coy; step grandson, Jacob Heck.

Alice is survived by two sons and daughter in law, Steven C. William "Bill" Dale Jr (July 19, 2012)

Bill Dale, 66, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on July 19, 2012. Bill was born on May 12, 1946 in Indiana to the late William C. and Katherine(Sowers)Dale.

Bill worked at Wayne Industries and attended First United Methodist Church in Greenville.

Bill is preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Ann Dale and Marilyn Sue Dale; and a brother Joseph Terry Dale.

Bill is survived by a brother Larry Dale; two sister in laws Marty Dale and Jean Herbert.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Greenville with Rev. Joe Payne officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of services. Burial will be at the Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison.

Don Denniston (July 22, 2012)

Don Denniston, age 75, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 7:12 PM at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on October 23, 1936 in Montgomery County, Ohio, to the late William & Lucille (Mann) Denniston.

He is survived by his wife, Lori (Henninger) Denniston of Greenville, Ohio, whom he married on May 18, 1985; son, Brad; daughter, Lisa; a grandson and granddaughter; sister, Joyce Pressly of Greenville; as well as a nephew.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son Curtis Denniston.

Don retired from Van Leer Container after 40 years of service. He was a member of the United States Navy, Eagles, Moose, Amvets, VFW Boosters and a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greenville. He loved bowling and was on a bowling team for 35 years and also enjoyed playing cards.

There will be a service held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Joe Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville, Ohio, with the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard conducting a Graveside Military Service. John Robert “Bob” Hahn (July 21, 2012)

John Robert “Bob” Hahn age 85, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 4:05 P.M. on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Versailles Health Care Center in Versailles. Bob was born November 13, 1926 in Montgomery County, Ohio, to the late John & Ethel (Dryden) Hahn.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Rosalie Ann (Wilson) Hahn whom he married July 19, 1947; son & daughter-in-law, William & Connie Hahn of Dayton; daughters & son-in-law, Linda & Jerry Barhorst of Versailles and Vicki Hahn of Huber Heights; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bob is also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cheryl Hahn; brothers, William and Charles Hahn; and a sister, Helen Schneider.

Bob retired from Standard Register Company in Dayton, where he was a rubber plate maker. Bob was a member of the Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2347. He was Past President of the Versailles, Greenville and Huber Heights Fraternal Order of Eagles. Bob was a former scout master, little league coach, bowling coach, High School football chain crew and bus driver for Huber Heights School. Bob was known for his sense of humor and he never knew a stranger.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with a Lodge of Sorrow service conducted by the Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles at 6:00 P.M.. John Paul William Oehrtman (July 18, 2012)

John Paul William Oehrtman age 93, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 3:40 A.M. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Versailles Health Care Center in Versailles. Paul was born October 10, 1918 in Willowdell, Ohio to the late John C. & Ida W. (Hecht) Oehrtman. On December 15, 1946, he married Leona C. (Schellhase) Oehrtman at Willowdell, Ohio and she preceded him in death on June 19, 1987.

Paul is survived by his 3 daughters, Patricia & Douglas Crowell of Versailles, Ohio, Susan Jess of Piqua, Ohio and Nancy & Robert Brown of Cody, Wyoming; 7 grandchildren, Arianne (Ron) Henry, Sarah Jess, Jennifer (William) Remien, Megan Jess, Emma (Zane) Baumann, Katherine (Tyson) Volmer and William (Kelsey) Brown; and 7 great grandchildren, Madison, Gracie, Audrey, Preston, Azalea, Vox and Taylan.

In addition to his parents and wife, Paul is also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ed Jess; granddaughter, Andrea Crowell; great-granddaughter, Rachel Henry; brother, Richard Oehrtman; and a sister-in-law, Betty Oehrtman.

Paul graduated from Versailles Schools in 1936 and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was a farmer and worked in the egg industries until retiring in 1973. Paul enjoyed fox and coyote hunting and being with his family. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Willowdell, Ohio.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Laura Leach Shreffler officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. and Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Frances Jane Fletcher age 88, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:55 A.M. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. Frances was born September 18, 1923 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Raymond Sr. & Hazel (Moore) Brinley.

Frances is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Herman A. Jr. & Valerie Fletcher of North Ridgeville, Ohio, William & Carolyn Fletcher of Glasgow, Kentucky, Richard & Evelyn Fletcher of Greenville, Ohio and David Fletcher of Greenville, Ohio; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Lowell Brinley of Greenville, Ohio; and a sister, Margaret Lumpkin of Greenville, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, Frances is also preceded in death by her husband, Herman A. Fletcher Sr. on May 9, 1989 whom she married March 5, 1942; sons, Ralph Mikesell and Bill Petry; granddaughter, Krystal Fletcher; brothers, Raymond “Doc” Brinley Jr., Albert Brinley and Jimmy Brinley; and sisters, Esta Hathaway and Mary Bertrum.

Frances was a homemaker and a former cook at Snell Restaurant for many years. Frances was a former member of the Greenville V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Joe Soley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens in Darke County. Leslie Lee Russell (July 16, 2012)

Leslie Lee Russell, 75 of Greenville, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012 at 10:30 p.m. after a short courageous battle with cancer at Sterling House Greenville surrounded by "Angels".

He was born January 1, 1937 in Connersville, Indiana, son of the late Ira Herbert Russell and Mary Louise Moistner.

Leslie was a certified GM Mechanic for 30 years in the Dayton Area. Retired from Ted Nealeigh Plastering in 2001. In his retirement years he enjoyed mowing lawns for his friends and neighbors. He also loved to fish and enjoyed family vacations in Lake Erie.

He survived by his wife of 56 years, JoAnn (Stump) Russell. He was blessed with 3 children, Vicky (Frank) Ahlering-Flory, Rick Russell, and Kathy (Craig) Shank; 5 grandchildren, Heather (Jamie) Sullivan, Joshua (Heather) Shank, Katelyn Shank, Tammy (Ted) Royster, Joe (Ruth) Supinger; 7 great grandchildren, Griffen Walter, Max Cameron and Taylor Sullivan, Curtis, Charlie and Nicholas Shank, Brook Filby.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 20 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Florence L. Hollinger (July 14, 2012)

Florence L. Hollinger, 92, of Columbus and formerly of Greenville, passed away late Saturday evening, July 14, 2012 at her son's residence in Columbus.

She was born January 30, 1920 in Mt. Pleasant, PA, daughter of the late John and Blanche (Gibboney) Addis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Addis, and a sister, Hannah Denny.

Florence was retired from Corning in Greenville. She was a member of the Greenville VFW Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose. She was an avid painter and seamstress.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Teddie) Hollinger of Columbus, Glen (Kathy) Hollinger of Metairie, LA, and Robert F. Hollinger of Greenville; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, July 21 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH with Pastor Paul Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Harris Creek Cemetery near Bradford.

Norma Jean Ryan (July 14, 2012)

Norma Jean Ryan, age 79 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 4:15 P.M. Saturday July 14, 2012 at the Wayne HealthCare Center Greenville, Ohio. Norma was born February 24, 1933 in Troy, Ohio and had been a resident of Greenville since 1966, retiring to Sebastian, Florida in 1997 where she has resided until recently. She is the daughter of the late George and Ellen (Hershey) Rudisill.

Norma was a homemaker until her children were older. Then she was employed at Fram Corp. of Greenville from 1973 until 1997. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Greenville and the St. Sebastian Catholic Church of Sebastian, Florida. In addition to her work, her life was one of being a caretaker on and off to her children, grandchildren and ultimately her loving husband Robert L. Ryan who passed away in 2005.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Patricia “Patty” Dotson.

Norma is survived by a daughter Pattie Lee Bruner of Greenville; son and daughter in law Michael Lee & Cherlyn Ryan of Greenville; grandchildren Matthew Bruner, Shawna (Nic) Perreira, Kassie Leichty, and Jess (Taryn) Ryan; great grandchildren Brooke, Nathan, Luke, Tanner, Marguerite and Adelaide; brother and sister in law George & Linda Rudisill Jr., of Troy, Ohio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday July 18, 2012 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Father John R. White officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio.

Velma L. Locke, 77, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening, July 14, 2012 at her residence.

She was born November 23, 1934 in Arkansas, the daughter of the late Aden Charles and Emma Caroline (Blevins) Baxter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Locke on February 26, 2011; a daughter, Valerie Locke on December 28, 2009; a son, Darrell Locke; and two sisters, Goldie Hutchinson and Bearl "Betty" Stanley.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Bob) Brandon of Greenville, and Joy Burke of Indiana; grandchildren, Jessica Locke, Jacqueline, Whitney, Branson, Ricci, Jimini, Rielea, Alex Locke, Chelsea Gallatin, and Amy Marshall Lopez; great grandchildren, Kaysy and Layla Mangen , Veronica, Jacob, Marisol, Emily, and Efrain Lopez; sisters, Carolyn Thompson and Shirley Oliver, both of Morehead, KY; and two special nieces, Pat Hocker of Greenville, and Jaimie Wicker of Morehead, KY.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 19 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

Vincent Anthony Gragorace, 21 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Saturday July 14, 2012 at 2:58 AM in Mercer County, Ohio as the result of an automobile accident. He was born October 10, 1990 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Kenneth & Susan (Worth) Gragorace of Greenville. He was a machine operator for Fram and was previously the manager at Advance Auto in Eaton. He was a graduate of Greenville High School where he was studied in the Auto Tech Department; he then went to Sinclair Community College for 1 year studying Auto Tech.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother: Margaret Worth; paternal grandparents: Joseph & Mary Gragorace; Uncles: Neil Worth, C. Barry Worth, Danny Worth, Robert Gragorace, Donald Gragorace, & John Gragorace.

He is survived by his parents: Kenneth & Susan of Greenville; brother & sister in law: Gary & Marcie Calvert of Liberty Township. Ohio; sisters & brother in law: Tina & Dennis Peebles of Youngstown, Ohio, Erin Gragorace of Greenville; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts & uncles.

Edith Clapp, 86, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2012. Edith was born on October 30, 1925 in Crawford County, Indiana to the late Alvin and Sella(Wiseman)Eaton.

Edith worked most of her life and retired from the Dana Corporation. She loved to bake and cook. She enjoyed making big meals and serving it to the entire family. Family was a very important factor in Edith's life. She also loved gardening. She had flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed canning the crops produced from her garden.

Along with her parents, Edith is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Clapp; brothers John and Alfred Eaton; sisters, Elizabeth LaHue and Beulah Jacobi.

Edith is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Linda and Joey Jones of Greenville and Gail Cooper and Dan Massie of Greenville; five grandchildren, Jacqueline Renee Wheelock and friend Rob, Scott Allen Wilt and friend Mendi, Angelia Marie Rehmert, Benjamin J. Robert Cohee (July 10, 2012)

Robert Cohee, 56, passed into the arms of a loving God at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Per his request, his body has been cremated, and he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Shelly at a private family service in Mason City, Iowa.

Robert was born July 30, 1955, in Greenville, Ohio, to Ralph and Ruby (Parks) Cohee. He took an interest in mortuary science at an early age and assisted a local funeral home with various duties for several years. Robert graduated from Greenville High School and worked as a drug counselor in the Dayton, Ohio, area for 15 years. He lived in Nebraska before moving to the Des Moines area, and worked at the Nebraska Medical Center in Admissions.

Robert is survived by his siblings, Shirley Hughes, Jimmie Don (Madonna) Cohee, and Helen (Jerry) Wright; special friends, Tom and Sharon Mueller, as well as numerous students and friends at DMU (Ali, Katie, and especially Rachel – new D.O.’s). He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shelly; and his sister, Mary Louise Grenier.

Lloyd A. Stinson, 62, of Greenville, passed away late Wednesday evening, July 11, 2012 at his residence.

He was born December 1, 1949 in Muncie, IN, son of Maxine (McRoberts) Stinson and the late Lloyd Stinson.

Lloyd had retired from Fruedenberg in Troy. He was a member of the Greenville Eagle's Lodge.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Bonnie L. (Niswonger) Stinson, whom he married September 27, 1989; children, Brian Henson, Eric Henson, Joshua Stinson, Jenni Stinson, and a special son, David Kettler; 4 grandchildren; a brother, Dale; a sister, Dottie; his father-n-law, George "Junior" Niswonger, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tom and Shirley Mowery; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 16 at 8 p.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville.

David A. Williams (July 11, 2012)

David A. Williams, 52, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on July 11, 2012 at his residence. David was born on February 5, 1960 in Kenton, Ohio to Betty Koffer and the late Paul Williams.

David was an avid football fan playing for Greenville City Schools and being a die hard Dallas Cowboy and The Ohio State football fan. He loved all types of music and shared this love with family and friends. He loved playing solitaire on his computer and drinking his favorite drink, Mt. Dew. He never knew a stranger and everyone considered him an all around nice guy. The biggest part of his life was his family, never letting them leave without letting them know he "Loved them more".

In addition to his father, David is preceded in death by a brother, Michael Williams; a sister, Connie Fourman and a lifelong companion, Tiny Dog.

David is survived by his mother, Betty and Larry Koffer; two brothers, Dan J. and Jama Williams and Duane "Animal" Hinkle; a sister, Lisa Klosterman and fiancé, Paul Harlow; a brother-in-law, Keith Fourman; a step brother, Tony and Ailene Koffer; a step sister, Manya Byers Noonan and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Reva L. Fetters (July 8th, 2012)

Reva L. Fetters, 76, of Greenville, formerly of Painter Creek, died Sunday, July 8th, 2012 at Rest Haven.

Mrs. Fetters was born in Miami County on January 23, 1936, the daughter of the late Kenneth E. and Frances R. (Weikert) Flory. She was a member of Abbottsville United Methodist Church where she played the organ and was the Choir Director. She was employed with the United Telephone Company retiring after 25 years of service.

Mrs. Fetters was preceded in death by her Sons Randy and Tracey Fetters.

Reva is survived by her husband David Fetters, whom she married February 2, 1957; Son Darrell Fetters and wife April of Greenville; Grandchildren Chelsea Fields and husband Steven of Gettysburg, Mick Denlinger and wife Chelsea of Englewood, Caleb Fetters of Greenville, Marcus Denlinger and Tasana Gilbert of Piqua, and Mason Fetters of Greenville; Great Granddaughter Mackenzie Elizabeth Denlinger; Brothers Harold E. Marlene Myers (July 4th, 2012)

Marlene Myers, 82, of Greenville, formerly of Arcanum, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 4th, 2012. She was a resident of Resthaven Health Care Center. Mrs. Myers was born in Arcanum October 27, 1929, the daughter of the late Marley and Mary (Cheadle) Routzong. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Greenville.

Marlene was a long time member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Arcanum. transferring her membership to the First United Methodist Church in Greenville when she moved the the Brethren Retirement Community. She was a retired Elementary School Teacher at Arcanum Butler School System for over 30 years. Marlene received her BA in Education from Taylor University in 1957.

Mrs Myers was preceded in death by 2 brothers Bill and Marvin Routzong and a sister Dorothy Longman.

She is survived by her husband Virgil whom she married December 17, 1955; Daughter Jola Schaar and husband Steve of Columbus; son Kevin Myers and wife Shiow-meei of Oakwood; Grandson Steven Brady Schaar; Sister Martha Rhodehamel and husband Jack of Spartansburg South Carolina.

Ronnie Lee Eastland age 48, of Greenville, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2012 at his residence. Ronnie was born July 13, 1963 in Raytown, Missouri to the late Clarence & Tennie (Hemby) Eastland.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Trudy (Wetzel) Eastland whom he married June 5, 2003; son, Jeremy Eastland of Kansas City, Missouri; step sons, Eric & Sherri Stephan of Clayton and Brian Stephan & fiancée Lisa Cano Mote of Greenville; step grandchildren, Kyanna Stephan, Raven Mote and Hunter Mote; brothers & sister-in-law, James E. & Janiece Moore of Ava, Missouri, Ted Johnson of Greenwood, Missouri and Billy Vanzandt of Pottstown, Pennsylvania; sister, Jerry Kruger of Muldrow, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ronnie is also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Ronnie was a retail clerk at Kroger in Greenville and worked part-time at Arby’s. Ronnie was a member of Gospel Baptist Church of Greenville.

Elsie Pauline (Hensley) Throop, 80, of Troy, Ohio passed away on July 2, 2012 at Troy Care and Rehabilitation Center in Troy. Elsie was born on September 25, 1931 to the late Roy and Bertha Hensley.

Elsie was a retired nurses aid and cook working for the county home during her life. SHe was a member of the Church of the Nazerine and enjoyed camping, the outdoors and taking poictures of Nature.

Elsie is survived by two sons, Jerry and Doris Hensley of New Paris and Ronnie Throop of Connersville, Indiana; a daughter, Mary and Duane Melendez of Huber Heights; eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Hal A. Langdon (July 9, 2012)

Hal A. Langdon, age 56 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:15 A.M. Monday July 9, 2012 in the Good Samaritan Hospital Dayton, Ohio. Hal was born October 2, 1955 in Greenville, Ohio and the son of Nancy A. (Dunson) Langdon of Greenville and the late Frank A. Langdon.

Hal retired following 30 years of employment from Hittle Pontiac-Buick-GMC of Greenville. He played golf and was an avid car mechanic building and restoring many cars over the years. He also enjoyed Harley Davidson Motorcycles and all types of racing, including NASCAR. Hal was a 1974 graduate of Greenville Senior High School.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his brother Nathan Langdon, March 2008.

Hal’s survivors, including his mother, are his son and daughter in law Chad and Amy Langdon of Arcanum. Grandchildren Sean, Tyler and Riley. Sisters and brothers in law Francy and Estel Shaw of Greenville and Jill and Dan Weaver of Versailles. Brothers and sister in law Steve Langdon of Springfield, Ohio and Tom and Carol Langdon of Milford, Ohio. Also numerous nieces and nephews.

Gladys O’Brien (June 26, 2012)

Gladys O’Brien, age 98, of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 2000, passed away to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. She is survived by her son, Neil O’Brien and his wife, Mary Ann; three grandsons, Tim O’Brien and his wife, Amy, Kevin O’Brien and his wife, Jill and Jeff O’Brien; seven great grandchildren, Ryan, Faun, Eliana, Joe, Drew, Harley and Zach; and many nieces and nephews.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Corneilius “Connie” O’Brien, and her brother, Carl Rubey.

Gladys graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. Upon marrying her husband, she enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, working in EUM Church and assisting her husband in the writing and editing the newsletter for the Ohio Fire Chief’s Association. While living in Albuquerque, Gladys delighted in getting to know her great grandchildren and attending Faith Lutheran Church. She loved the staff at Elmcroft Assisted Living and Ambercare Hospice.

There will be a graveside service held on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Steven W. “Steve” Greer, Sr. 55, of Greenville, passed away Friday afternoon, July 6, 2012 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.

He was born July 4, 1959 in Greenville, son of the late Everett and Lucille (Melling) Greer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby, Gary and Larry Greer.

Steve had worked as a maintenance Technician for Cal-Main Foods.

He is survived by his children, Tori Greer, Chad Greer, Steven W. Greer, Jr., and Jonis Greer; grandchildren,Chad Austin Greer, Chad Greer, Jr., Cody Greer, Emilee Goodyear, Kristine Goodyear, Autumnrose Goodyear, Kaytlin Greer, Peyton Greer, and Corbin Greer; and sisters, Patty and Barbara.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 12 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Sam Shilot officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

Eulalia R. "Ray" Beemer (June 24, 2012)

Eulalia R. "Ray" Beemer, 89, of Union City, OH and formerly of Ansonia, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 in the Emergency Room at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville.

She was born July 31, 1922 in New Weston, daughter of the late William and Ovilla Mae (Studebaker) Shook. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. Beemer; and a sister, Thelma Hiestand.

Eulalia was retired from the former Sheller-Globe in Union City.

She is survived by her children, Ann Stover of Ansonia, Kay Green of Union City, IN, Joe Beemer of Union City, OH, Jeri Ruiz of San Antonio, TX, and Jane Weist of Ansonia; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 14, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12 till 2 p.m.

Glenna Pearl Knoll (July 8, 2012)

Glenna Pearl Knoll, 94, of Greenville, passed away early Sunday morning, July 8, 2012 at Heartland of Greenville. She was lovingly cared for in her home at Sterling House the past four years.

She was born December 31, 1917 in Adams Township near Gettysburg, daughter of the late Webster G. and Ina P. (Fenstermaker) Hershey. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert on October 6, 2006; and brothers, Elmer, Ernest, and Omer Hershey.

Glenna had worked at the former G.C. Murphy's Store and J.C. Penny's both in Greenville. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville and was a 60 years plus member of the Rebecca Lodge of Covington, and the Darke County bird watcking club. Glenna had a keen interest in nature and family geneology.

She is survived by her son, Emerson L. Knoll of Fairfield, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 11 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. The family request that memorial contributions be given to either the Greenville Township Rescue or the Darke County Parks District.

Catherine L. (Strawser) Good (July 6, 2012)

Catherine L. (Strawser) Good, 92, of New Madison, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Oakley House in Greenville. Catherine was born on October 26, 1919 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Joshua and Clara (Kreitzer) Strawser.

Catherine was a farmers wife all her life, She loved to sew, cook, gardening and help out as a member of the PTA and organizing the Penny supper for the schools Her greatest joy was spending time with family and especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Catherine is preceded in death by her husband Ralph who passed away in 2003; brothers, Ohmer Strawser and Jessie Strawser; sister Naomi Rife and a great grandson, Sean Mangas.

Catherine is survived by two daughters, Joyce and Joe Mangas of Greenville and Connie and Steve Miller of Arcanum; four grandchildren, Chad Crawford of Tennessee, Todd Crawford of Dayton, Ohio ,Jeff and Jessica Miller of Monroe, Ohio and Emily and David Sell of Toledo, Ohio; two step grandchildren, Joel and Donna Mangas of Kentucky and Deana and Dwight Wulber of Willowdale, Ohio; three great grandchildren Marissa Miller, Blake Sell and Caleb Sell; two step great grandchildren, Brittany Mangas and Justin Mangas.

Friends and family may visit the funeral home on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from 12 - 2 PM at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison, Ohio. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2 PM also at the funeral home with the Rev. Carol Duffield being asked to officiate. Burial will follow in the Otterbein Cemetery. Daniel E. Edsall, age 64, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 4:35 AM at Hospice of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. He was born on June 19, 1948 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late James C. “Jake” & Lucille M. (Brand) Edsall.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Sprenkel) Edsall of Greenville, Ohio, whom he married on Oct. 18, 1980; son, Derrick (fiancée Sarah McDermott) Edsall of Englewood, Ohio; brother and sister in law, James & Donna Edsall of Greenville; sister and brother in law, Janis & Bill Combs of Waynesville, Ohio; brothers in law and sisters in law, David & Nancy Sprenkel of Piqua, Ohio, Ron Sprenkel of Vandalia, Ohio, Sharon & Tom Knick of Tipp City, Ohio, Jane Goubeaux of Greenville, and Doris Doss of Greenville; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn E. Krzewski.

Daniel was retired as a Rural Carrier for the Greenville Post Office. He was a member of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War, VFW and American Legion. He loved playing poker and golf.

There will be a service held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Monday, July 9, 2012 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service. There will be a graveside military service conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.

David Lee McMaken Sr., age 77, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 6:05 PM at Versailles Health Care Center, Versailles, Ohio. He was born on April 18, 1935 in Miami County, Ohio, to the late Millard & Etta (Hennessey) McMaken.

David worked at Superior in Russia, and Argosy in Versailles as well as a salesman for Fuller Brush. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church. Loved gardening, cutting wood, and was an avid Buckeyes, Florida Gators, and Kentucky Wildcats fan.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 2-8 PM as well as on Monday morning from 9-10 AM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles.

John G. Forsythe, Jr. 55, of Greenville , passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in Versailles, Ohio.

He was born in Greenville, Ohio, son of the late John G. Forsythe, Sr. and Joanne W. (Kloper) Waggoner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Ricky Forsythe.

John had worked at Weaver Brothers in Versailles.

Penelope A. "Penny" Luce, 71, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012 at her home in Greenville.

She was born September 18, 1940 in Greenville, Ohio, daughter of the Late John and Eva B. (Lowers) Stubbs. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by; a sister, Patricia Hufnagle; and brothers, Harry Stubbs and Danny Stubbs.

Penny had worked Neff Lettering in Greenville She was a member of Women of the Moose and American Legion Auxiliary both in Greenville.

She is survived by her husband, George Luce, Sr.; sons, Todd Ord of Richmond, IN, Rick Ord of Ft. Lewis, WA; stepchildren, George Luce, Jr., Allen Luce,Teresa Hunt, Kimberly Fourman all of Greenville; 4 grandchildren; and a brother, Danny Stubbs of AL.

Private service will be held at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Fr. John White officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery.

William J. “Bill” Longfellow (July 4, 2012)

William J. “Bill” Longfellow age 77, of Union City, Ohio, passed away at 9:33 A.M. on Wednesday, July 4, 2012. Bill was born January 7, 1935 in Union City, Ohio, to the late George & Annabelle (Potter) Longfellow.

Bill is survived by his wife, Peggy (Runkle) Longfellow whom he married June 20, 1958. Bill is also survived by a daughter, Rhonda Longfellow Corbett of Greenville; a son, William Todd Longfellow of Greenville; grandchildren, Clay Longfellow, Darby Longfellow, Storm Longfellow, Charles Corbett, Cyrus Corbett and Cedric Corbett; and a brother, Don Longfellow of Union City, Indiana.

In addition to his parents, Bill is also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Baker; and a brother-in-law, Sonny Baker.

Bill retired from Sheller Globe-UTA after 45 years on service.

Bernice Myers, 74, of Huber Heights and formerly of Greenville, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 3, 2012 at The Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Spring Creek in Huber Heights.

She was born in Magoffin County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Roy D. and Manda (Merrill) Bowling. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. Myers in 2000, and a son, Steven Myers in 1997.

She is survived by her daughter, Reesia Barker of Dayton; a grandson, Michael Barker; a brother, David Bowling of Dayton; and a sister, May Campbell of Dayton.

Phillip “Boob” North, 74 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday July 4, 2012 at 1:40 AM at Wayne Healthcare, Greenville, Ohio. He was born November 3, 1937 in Darke County, Ohio the son of the late Clarence & Roma (Fritz) North.

He worked as a truck driver for 23 years; custodian at Greenville High School for 9 years; and worked as a pressman for the Daily Advocate for 10 years retiring in April of 2000; he also was Santa Claus for the city for several years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son: Doug North on September 20, 1999; sisters: Joan Cheadle, & Sharon Reed; brothers: Clarence Jr., & Gene North.

He is survived by his wife: Leota (Rohr) North of Greenville whom he married November 12 1955; daughter: Dana North & her husband Derek Watson of Boston, Indiana; grandchildren: Miles & Ella Watson, Michael Cost and his wife Amy; brother: Ronnie North of Greenville; sisters & brothers in law: Marsha Schafer of Eaton, Ohio, Pat & Harold Wogoman of Greenville, Connie & Larry Beuter of Lima, Ohio, Diane & Jim Rohrer of Lima, Ohio; numerous nieces & nephews.

Graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday July 10, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Abbottsville Cemetery with Rev. Terry Haworth officiating. There will be no visitation. She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Shirley & Tom Heindl of Greenville and Kay & Duane Leis of Greenville; sons and daughters in law, Tom & Marvella Fletcher of Greenville, John & Barbara Fletcher of Greenville and Mike & Leigh Fletcher of Greenville; step daughters, Moleta Mikesell of Greenville and Roberta & Rick McConnell of Ansonia, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Lowell Brinley of Greenville; sisters, Margaret Thomas Lumpkin of Greenville and Jane Fletcher of Greenville; special friend, Barbara Zacharias; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, John “Roscoe” Fletcher; second husband, Jessie Hathaway; brothers, Wesley “Al” Brinley, James R. Esta was a member of the Ansonia First Church of God where she helped in the kitchen and nursery as well as with bible school. She was a homemaker and also was a cook at the Snells Restaurant. Veda (Bailey) Kelly (July 1, 2012)

Veda (Bailey) Kelly passed away early morning, Sunday, July 1, 2012. Her beloved husband and best friend of 65 years, Dan Kelly, survives her. Veda was a long-time resident of Greenville, but was born and raised in Cleveland, moving to Greenville in 1979. As a young woman, Veda was a licensed practical nurse and worked in labor and delivery at St. Anne’s Hospital, Cleveland. She was the oldest of five children. Her remaining sibling, her “baby” sister Patricia lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and family,

Veda leaves behind three loving adoring daughters and their husbands: Colleen Whittington and husband Mike of Greenville, Ohio, Maureen Vannicola and husband Tony of Beavercreek, Ohio and Kathy Lloyd and husband David of Burleson, Texas; treasured grandchildren Erin Wisecup and husband Bryan, Kathryn Alderson and husband Brian, Brandon Grimm and Ashley French and husband Jason; precious great-grandchildren Reece and Henry, along with so many beloved friends who were blessed to know and laugh with her.

Veda loved being with her family and friends, traveling and shopping. She was a devoted and hard-working volunteer at Wayne Healthcare Center serving as president and vice-president of the volunteer auxiliary for several years. She was known for her savvy business skills as the 27-year manager of the Wayne Healthcare Center gift shop with assistance from husband Dan. She designed and prepared many unique gift items for the shop out of her home, like new baby gift baskets and “get well” candy sundaes, which delivered great delight and comfort to patients. In 2009, the VFW of Greenville recognized Dan and Veda as Citizens of the Year for their combined 50 years of dedicated service to the Wayne Hospital Company.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 6, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenville. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville.
