Ralph E. “Woody” Wood (September 27, 2013)

Ralph E. “Woody” Wood, 82 of Ansonia, Ohio passed away on Friday September 27, 2013 at 1:35 PM at State of The Heart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. He was born October 15, 1930 in Greenville, Ohio the son of the late Ramond Leroy & Roseanna (Smith) Wood Sr. He was a Millwright at Armco Steel.

He was a member of the Piqua Eagles; Moody Round Table Member; he loved wood working making all sort of crafts; he mowed cemeteries for Brown Township for 14 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife: Alice J. (Swabb) Wood; daughter: Mabel E. (Wood) Cruse; great grandson: Max Wood; brothers: Ramon L. Wood Jr., Glen Wood, Ira Wood; sisters: Sarah Wombold, Mabel Ritchey, Dorothy Lammott, Laura Randall

He is survived by his wife: Linda (Riffle) Wood of Ansonia; children & spouse: Rosemary Wood of Piqua, Joyce & Tim Lacy of Bradford, Ralph “Beener” Wood of Bradford; step daughters & sons in law: Soni Smith & Donny Claywell of Union City, Lori & Troy Riegle of Springboro, & Leslie & Roger Fourman of Arcanum; son in law: John Cruse of Bradford; grandchildren: Jason & Mandi Wood, Camisha & Keith Lear, Luke Cruse, Amber Lacy, Walter Whisman, Staci Schmidt, Tyler, Courtney, & Austin Riegle, Kelly & Kyle Fourman, Collin Claywell; great grandchildren: Jase Wood, Sophia Lacy, Bryce, Bryant, & Bryton Lear; numerous nieces & nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday October 2, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Dan Scalf & Rev. Fr. Frank Amberger officiating. Cleda Faye (Osborne) Ramey (September 25, 2013)

Cleda Faye (Osborne) Ramey, 70, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord Wednesday evening, September 25, 2013 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

She was born July 31, 1943 in Ages, KY, daughter of the late Joseph Clyde and Margaret (Hocker) Osborne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wayne Ramey in 2000; three brothers, John Frank Osborne, Owen Osborne and Joe Osborne, Jr.; and a sister June Osborne.

Cleda had worked as a nurse’s aide and also as a housekeeper. She was a member of the Open Door Church of God in Greenville.

She is survived by, Danny Davis of Greenville with whom she has shared the past five years; two sisters-in-laws, Alice Osborne of Palestine, OH and Vera Osborne of Glendale, AZ; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 12 PM, Wednesday, October 02, at the New Beginnings Church, 802 E. 4th Street, Greenville, with pastors Willard Kole and Arnol Wynn officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery.

The family will be receiving guests at the church from 10 AM until the time of the service at 12PM.

Marcia J. Bruner (September 26, 2013)

Marcia J. Bruner age 68, of Arcanum, Ohio passed away at 7:54 A.M. on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at her residence. Marcia was born August 25, 1945 in Greenville, Ohio to Margaret Alice (Brinley) Lumpkin of Greenville and the late Karl (Kelly) Thomas.

In addition to her mother, Marcia is survived by her husband, Richard L. “Rick” Bruner whom she married May 27, 1967; children, Theodore B. & Cynthia A. Bruner of Greenville, Rebecca L. & Arlan H. Peters of Arcanum and Julie M. & Michael P. Riley of Arcanum; grandchildren, Άndrea M. Walker, Ryan M. Bruner, Daniel L. Bruner, Nicholas R. Bruner, Elizabeth M. Riley, Landon D. Peters, Sarah J. Riley, Chloe Mae C. Peters, Jonathan D. Riley and Cade T. Peters; great-grandchildren, Bre΄ana M. Walker and Ellie A. Walker; brothers & sister-in-law, Ronnie Thomas of Palestine, Jerry & Dalene Thomas of Greenville and Mark Thomas of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father Marcia is also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Sandy Thomas.

Marcia retired from Fram Corporation in Greenville.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Castine Church of the Brethren 624 US Route 127 Arcanum with Pastor Greg Hyre officiating. Burial will follow in Ithaca Cemetery in Ithaca. Franklin E. "Junior" Adkins, Jr. (September 27, 2013)

Franklin E. "Junior" Adkins, Jr., 68, of Greenville, passed away early Friday morning, September 27, 2013, at his residence.

He was born December 4, 1944 in Twila, Kentucky, son of the late Franklin E., Sr. and Voulena (Simpson) Adkins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Corey Jay Campbell.

Junior worked most of his life as a roofer working under Roofer's Local #75 as well as the family business.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara (Bunch) Adkins, whom he married, December 4, 1970; his children, Darren (Christina) Hanes, Kathy (Curt) Kitchen, Tracey (Dean) Richardson, Amy (Jarrod) Boehringer, and Tina (Ty) Walton; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Tom (Deloris) Adkins of Arcanum, Gerald (Toni) Adkins of Somerset, KY, Priscilla Daniels of Greenville, Paulette (Jim) Stump of Troy, and Darlene Stamps of Troy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 1, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Hershel Fee officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery near Greenville.

Charles “Charlie” E. Oiler (September 25, 2013)

Charles “Charlie” E. Oiler, 78, of Piqua, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2013 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio. Charlie was born on October 10, 1934 in Bidwell to the late Roy and Hazel (Luckadoo) Oiler.

Charlie was a welder during his life and worked for Shelby Manufacturing in Sidney, Ohio. He enjoyed spending time with close friends, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Charlie was in the Air Force

In addition to his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by a brother, John Oiler and a grandchild.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Audra L. (Swick) Oiler; a son, Mark and Annie Oiler of Greenville; three daughters, Cheryl Hall of Piqua, Carla Oiler of Troy and Carol and Doug Bergeron of Moravian Falls, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Chester and Ilse Oiler of New Hampshire and Jim and Brenda Oiler of Springfield; two sisters, Nellie and Robert Jackson of Bidwell, Ohio and Jenny and Richard Hosier of Springfield.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 12:00 PM at Braund Pope Funeral Home in New Madison with Rev. Eric Fee officiating. The family will receive friends and guests two hours prior to the service from 10 AM – 12 PM also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Ohio. Charles D. Ditty Jr., 61 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Thursday September 26, 2013 at 12:56 AM in the Emergency Room at Wayne Healthcare. He was born July 11, 1952, the son of Mabel I. (Wilt) Black of Greenville and the late Charles Ditty Sr. He worked at Whirlpool Kitchen Aide Division for over 20 years. He was a member Faith Baptist Church. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, and fixing things for his family.

He is preceded in death by his father; brother in law: Steve Shepherd.

Julie Lynn Stull (September 22, 2013)

Julie Lynn Stull 38, of Cape Coral, FL resident since 1990, formerly of Greenville, OH, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 22, 2013 in Hendry County, FL. She was born May 6, 1975 in Greenville to her beloved parents whom survive her, Doug and Marti Stull of Cape Coral.

Julie was a loving sister, daughter, lover, and friend to many. Julie valued connections; whether you were an unfamiliar face she might not see again or someone she had known always - Julie made you feel special. Julie shared her love for life through her quick witted humor, childlike grin and warm giggle that was sure to follow. In times of need Julie was the reassuring voice of comfort - Julie always knew what to say. Julie enjoyed life, the outdoors and kayaking, music and of course a good rocking chair.

In addition to her parents, Julie is survived by her life partner of seven years, Jaime R. Fair of Cape Coral; two sisters, Jaime Lee Olivo and husband Kevin also of Cape Coral and Jennifer Deniston and husband Brock of Roswell, GA; her maternal grandmother, Frances Holmes of Cape Coral; paternal grandmother, Carol Stull of Greenville, OH; seven nieces; three nephews; numerous cousins; as well as Daisy the cat and Tucker the dog.

Julie was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John “Jack” Holmes in 2013 and her paternal grandfather, Charles A. Stull in 1997.

William A. Goettemoeller (Bill) (September 24, 2013)

William A. Goettemoeller (Bill), 76, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on September 24, 2013, following a lifetime of happiness, work, and love.

He was married to Doris A. Kramer for 53 years and she will miss him dearly. He was born March 20, 1937, in St. Rose, Ohio to the late Lou & Loretta (Wolf) Goettemoeller. Bill graduated in the “Class of 55” from St. Johns (now Marion Local) School in Maria Stein and attended agriculture courses at Ohio State and Purdue Universities.

Bill’s happiest times were with his children & grandchildren. He loved horses, plowing, traveling, and tending his apple orchard. Bill was a strong voice and supporter for agriculture. He received his pilot’s license at the age of 40. He farmed and managed a trucking business for over 50 years. He was an amazing and loving father and his family will miss him greatly.

Bill was active in: Holy Family Catholic Church served as Lecturer & Usher, Lifetime Member Knights of Columbus – Fourth Degree Knight, Lifetime Member of National Farmers Organization & on Board of Directors for 22 years, Former Secretary of the USAPO Plowing Association, Served as Board Member of World Plowing Organization, National Plowing Champion in 1967 and 1971, World Plowing Contestant in 1968 in Rhodesia, Africa, and 1972 in the US.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his children: Gary & Pam Goettemoeller, Versailles, OH; Cheryl & Tony Campodonico, Studio City, CA; Joyce & Andrew Fitzpatrick, Santa Margarita, CA; Tammy & Kevin Goodman, Bowling Green, OH; Jennifer & Wade Kozich, Powell, OH; Brian & Dru Goettemoeller, Winchester, IN.

And Grandchildren: Chris & Katelyn Goettemoeller; Laurena & Jade Campodonico; Alexandra, Madeleine, & Tommy Fitzpatrick; Darin & Emily Goodman; and Spencer Goettemoeller. Extended family members Katie, Sarah and Kelly Kozich.

Bill is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-laws: Tom & Irene Goettemoeller, Bob & Bernice Goettemoeller, Jim & Carole Goettemoeller, Jack & Betty Goettemoeller, Dale & Ag Goettemoeller. And In-laws: Vern & Julia Kramer, Gene & Pat Kramer, Marv Kramer, Lloyd & Sylvia Kramer, Rene & Luke Klosterman, Jan & Chuck Feltz, Diane & Joe Seger. He is preceded in death by parents-in-law Lawrence & Laurena (Bergman) Kramer, and in-laws Virgil Kramer and Vernon Kramer.

Bill will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Emma Catherine Enicks, 91 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Monday September 23, 2013 at 12:24 PM at the Brethren Retirement Community. She was born April 23, 1922 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Carl & Matilda Cramer. She was a homemaker, and worked at G.C. Murphy and worked in the kitchen at Wayne Hospital. She was a member of Palestine Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: James Robert Enicks; son: George Enicks; daughter in law: Angela Enicks; son in law: Richard Hall.

She is survived by her children and spouse: Clara Ann Hall of Forsyth, Missouri, David Enicks of Greenville, Robert & Margaret Enicks of Greenville; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren.

Gary L. Kiser (September 21, 2013)

Gary L. Kiser, 52, of Columbus and formerly of Greenville, passed away Saturday evening, September 21, 2013 at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

He was born February 10, 1961 in Greenville, son of Joyce A. (Stoltz) Kiser of Greenville, and the late John E. Kiser, Sr.

Gary had worked as a salesman for Buckeye Ford in Columbus. Prior to moving to Columbus he had sold cars at Dave Knapp Ford in Greenville. He was a member of the Greenville Eagles and Moose Lodges.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Brittany Kiser of Hillard, OH; brothers, John E. (Amy) Kiser, Jr., and Steve (Jerilyn) Kiser both of Greenville; a Sister, Donna (Ron) Weyant of Greenville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 27, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be given to The Cancer Association of Darke County.

Patty Lou (Holsapple) Teaford, age 77, of Largo, Florida, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at her residence. She was born on April 29, 1936 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Clark & Cora (DeCamp) Holsapple.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Teaford of Largo, Florida; daughters and sons in law, Pamela (James) Hume and family, Tonya (Steve) Anderson and family; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by, sister Marjorie Wigger and brother in law Junior Fourman.

Patty was a realtor in Florida for 20 years and a hairdresser with a salon in Greenville prior to '72. She enjoyed reading and puzzles.

Ruth B. Magoto (September 20, 2013)

Ruth B. Magoto age 92, of Kettering and more recently of St. Leonard in Centerville, passed away at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Versailles Health Care Center in Versailles, Ohio. Ruth was born December 10, 1920 in Shelby County, Ohio to the late Charles & Anna (Mougey) Magoto.

Ruth is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is also preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Platfoot and Evelyn Monnin; and brothers, Adrian and Raymond Magoto.

Ruth retired in 1975 from NCR in Dayton where she was a secretary for 33 years. She was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Parish in Kettering for many years. Ruth was in the first graduating class of Russia High School in Russia, Ohio in 1938.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Ron Haft celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles. Bonnie Sue McCoy (September 18, 2013)

Bonnie Sue McCoy, 41, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2013 at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. Bonnie was born in Greenville, Ohio on September 23, 1971 to the late Jack and Joyce A. (Short) McCoy.

Bonnie went to Tri-Village School and got her GED in Dayton. She studied at Southwestern Business College. She had worked at Miller's in Arcanum, Eikenberry's and Chicken Kitchen in Greenville, Coats Eye Wear, Accura Drywall, and Greco's all in Dayton. Bonnie was a member of First Assembly of God in Greenville.

Bonnie loved all of her animals: dogs, cats and a ferret. Some of Bonnie's favorite things to do were camping and reading her Bible. Bonnie loved kids and over the years she had the privilege of caring for many children.

During her lifetime Bonnie struggled with poor choices, but this year marked three years of sobriety. Since this life accomplishment, she had been able to run AA meetings. Bonnie also became a Christian and read her Bible every day. Her family has been very proud of this accomplishment.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie is preceded in death by her infant brother, Mike McCoy; grandparents, George and Mabel (Bowers) McCoy and Chalmer and Mary (Stiver) Short.

Bonnie is survived by her fiancé, Dan Dillman of Greenville; a sister, Mary J. McCoy and her fiancé, Dewayne Weyant of Greenville; three nephews, Justin and Jennifer Scantland, Jeff and Sarah Weyant of Greenville, and Jeremy "Butch" Scantland of Greenville; nine great nieces and nephews, Garrett, Gavin, Chase, Jorden, Faith, Quest, Marissa, Keegan and Blake.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM at First Assembly of God Church, 7219 St. RT. 118, Greenville with Rev. Dale Boeger officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 3 - 7 PM also at the church. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison, Ohio. Betty Lou Hinkle (September 19, 2013)

Betty Lou Hinkle, age 84 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 4:55 A.M. Thursday September 19, 2013 in the Rest Haven Nursing Home Greenville, Ohio. Betty Lou was born March 7, 1929 in Mt. Healthy, Ohio and the daughter of the late James and Clara (Hinds) Decker.

Betty Lou spent her entire life dedicated to being a housewife. She enjoyed crocheting making afghans and lap robes and going to the nursing home to sing to the residents. Betty Lou always thought that her greatest accomplishment was getting her kids raised. She was very proud of that. She was also a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church of Greenville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe Hinkle April 25, 1986. They were married February 14, 1948. Also her siblings consisting of 2 brothers and 3 sisters. She was the last child of the family.

She is survived by her sons and daughters in law Roscoe “Dean” & Patricia Hinkle and Rex and Julie Hinkle all of Greenville. Daughters and son in law Phyllis and Fredrick Slade, Karla and Richard Wills and Kelly and Bruce Flatter all of Greenville. Grandchildren Robert Joe Hinkle, Kimberly Diane Slade, Joy Denise Slade, Fredrick Duane Slade II, Matthew James Hinkle, Tyler Wayne Hinkle, Dustin James Wills and Kevin Dean Flatter. There are also 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday September 23, 2013 in the Trinity Wesleyan Church 1400 East Main Street Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Nathan Paulus officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday September 22, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio and on Monday 1 hour prior to the services in the church.

Phyllis L. Winn, 58 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Monday September 16, 2013 at 3:10 PM at Heartland of Greenville. She was born March 14, 1955 in Greenville, Ohio the daughter of Lowell & Glenna (Valentine) Hoff of Pitsburg, Ohio. She worked for 31 years in the Dietary Department at Heartland of Greenville.

She is preceded in death by her brother: Franklin Hoff.

Alva F. “Al” Pitsenbarger Jr. (September 15, 2013)

Alva F. “Al” Pitsenbarger Jr., age 87, of Vandalia, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 10:00 PM at his residence. He was born on June 15, 1926 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Alva F. & Kathryn (Bubeck) Pitsenbarger Sr.

Mr. Pitsenbarger is survived by his son Gary Brian Pitsenbarger of Dayton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Florence E. Pitsenbarger whom he married on May 23, 1954; brothers Nolan, Wilmer, Herbert and Robert Pitsenbarger; sisters Marjorie McGreevy, Mildred McEldowney and Gladys Rismiller.

He was a member of the United States Army serving in WWII. He was an active member at the First Presbyterian Church in Troy, Ohio, where he was a deacon and trustee. He was a 1944 graduate of Versailles High School, 1952 graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. While attending OSU he was in the Naval Reserve. He worked at the former Aero Products, Division of General Motors in Vandalia for 7 ½ years right out of college where he was involved in the development of propeller test equipment. He then worked at Wright Patt Air Force Base for 34 years before retiring in 1994 where he was involved with the design of test equipment for jet engines.

There will be a service held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 20 Walnut Street, Troy, Ohio, with Rev. Richard Culp officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. A Graveside Military will be conducted by the Versailles Veterans Honor Guard.

Jack Deaton, 89, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Heartland of Greenville.

He was born January 9, 1924 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Jeff and Nellie Deaton.

Jack was a self-employed carpenter and farmer. He loved fishing and the outdoors. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses.

He is survived by his wife, of 68 years Gladys Deaton of Greenville; children, Karen (Neil) Skiver, and Kathy (Gene Robbins) Fisher all of Greenville; 4 grandchildren, Kelly (Phil Booker) Thwaits, Teresa (Walt) Taylor, Ranee (Niles) Richards and Rodney (Abbey) Fisher all of Greenville; 8 great grandchildren, Kohl, Krue, Kayge, Keris, Teha, Torie, Grant, and Haylee.

George L. Elliott age 83, of Ansonia, Ohio passed away at 3:03 P.M. on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Heartland of Greenville. George was born August 31, 1930 in Union City, Indiana to the late Orville & Verna (Miller) Elliott.

George is survived by his wife, Barbara (Edwards) Elliott whom he married December 25, 1952; sons & daughters-in-law, Rick & Mary Elliott of Greenville, Lance & Michelle Elliott of Versailles and Eric & Michelle Elliott of Versailles; daughter & son-in-law, Toni & Michael Howell of Greenville; grandchildren, Nathan & Brandy Howell, Chad & Alissa Elliott, Stephen Howell, Ashley & Brian Haines, Tyler Elliott, Josh Elliott, Katie Elliott, Cierra Miller, Koryann Elliott, Christopher Elliott and Bryce Miller; great-grandchildren, Alexander Elliott, Stella Elliott, Halie Haines and Hannah Haines; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, George is also preceded in death by a grandson, Zach “Jumbo” Elliott; great-granddaughter, Bella Rose Elliott; sisters, Laura Mae Blansett, Betty Patterson and Pauline Elliott; and brothers, Harry, Harold, Bob, Donald and Paul Elliott.

George served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He also served in the National Guard. George retired from New Idea in Coldwater. George was a member of the New Lisbon Christian Church in Union City, Indiana; Darke County Horseshoe Club and the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association. George was a former Ansonia Little League baseball coach. George was a long time blood donor and an avid horseshoe pitcher, bowler and softball player.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at New Lisbon Christian Church 7996 E. 550 N. Union City, Indiana with Pastor Susan Deverall officiating. She was a was self employed for 43 years at the Beauty Salon as a Cosmetologist; a 43 year member of St. John Lutheran Church; worked for Darke County Board of Elections for 42 years; she served on the Darke County Cancer Board for 7 years; she was a member of Look Good Feel Better; and worked as a Hair Stylist for many years at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home.

She is preceded in death by her father.

Ray Evans, 81, Of Greenville, passed away early Sunday morning, September 15, 2013, at Heartland of Greenville.

He was born August 17, 1932 in Pineville, KY, a son of the late William and Ethel (Cheek) Evans.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Velma (Centers) Evans; his second wife, Marilyn Rose (Younts) Evans; a sister, Annie Patterson and a great grandson, Austin Waymire.

Ray was a mechanic for Evans Trucking, served in the United States Army, was a member of the Ansonia American Legion, the Union City VFW and Union City Eagles.

He is survived by 3 children, David (Denise) Bonar of Trinity, AL, Terry (Kendra) Evans of Lebanon, OH and Beverly (Tom) Thompson of Greenville, OH; 5 Siblings, Curt (Shirley) Evans of Barboursville, KY, Mick (Betty) Evans of Milford, OH, Wade (Charlotte) Evans of Connersville, IN, Patsy Clark of Ansonia, OH and Dana (Sam) Kiser of Jackson Center, OH;10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ray has also left behind Carol Slyder. She and Ray loved each other deeply and have shared the past 11 years of their lives together.

Services will be held 12PM Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, with Pastor Eric Knight officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Mike Beard (September 12, 2013)

Mike Beard, age 64 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 11:04 A.M. Thursday September 12, 2013 in the Heartland Nursing Home of Greenville, Ohio. Mike was born March 8, 1949 in Greenville, Ohio a son of Betty M. (Lehman) Beard of Greenville and the late John “Junior” Beard who passed away October 25, 2008.

He had been employed for the past 23 years with the Darke County Highway Department and had achieved his Master’s Degree of Theology.

Mike was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving as a SGT with the U.S. Air Force. He loved the outdoors, be it working, fishing at Lake Erie, camping or participating in many family activities.

In addition to his mother, Mike is survived by his wife Barbara (Fudge) Beard of Greenville. They were married June 24, 1972. Also daughter and son in law Michelle and Nathan Stephenson of Houston, Ohio; son and daughter in law John P. and Sarah Beard of Greenville; grandchildren Isaac Stephenson, Danielle Stephenson, Micah Stephenson and Zachariah Stephenson; sister and brother in law Marsha and Jack Baker of Greenville.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastors Augie & Jan Roestamadji co- officiating. Belva Opal Arens Teaford, age 98, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 3:23 PM at Heartland of Piqua, Piqua, Ohio. She was born on May 19, 1915 in Parsons, W.V. to the late Cyrus Samuel Upton & Nancy Olive Harsh.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband William R. “Bill” Arens; second husband Reno Teaford; daughter Nancy Isabel Parker; sister Nellie Arnett; brother Cyrus Upton; and sister Mary Frances Upton.

She is survived by her granddaughter Mary Belva and husband Shaun; grandson Arthur B. “Artie” Parker III and wife Jessica; great grandchildren, Jenna Lynn, Corryn Sue, twins Julia Isabel and Jack Parker.

Belva was the Chaplin and Secretary for Darke County Republican Women's Club, Republican Women of the Year, Member of Darke County Board of Visitors, Darke County Election Official, Girl Scout Leader, and Member of Choralettes of Greenville area as well as playing Mrs. Claus with her husband Bill to the wonderful people of the Greenville area. She was a homemaker, seamstress, and also worked at JC Penny's.

There will be a service held on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Doug Upton officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Monday from 10-11 at the funeral home.

Lenore Richards (September 7, 2013)

Lenore Richards, 88, of Greenville, passed away on September 7, 2013 at Rest Haven Nursing home in Greenville. Lenore was born in Licking County, Ohio on April 22, 1925 to the late Bryan and Margaret Cummings.

Lenore was the CEO of Richards Construction. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, watching NASCAR and OSU Football, painting oil paintings and watching butterflies.

In addition to her parents, Lenore is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Richards; two brothers, Robert Cummings and Jerry Cummings; a daughter Janet Richards and a granddaughter, Margaret Richards.

Lenore is survived by two sons, Scott and Joyce Richards of Greenville and Daniel Richards of Medway, Ohio and a grandson, Warren Richards of Greenville.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Braund Pope Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Fee officiating. Jewel F. Fitzwater, age 86 of Greenville, Ohio was called home to be with the Lord on Monday September 9, 2013 at 1:15 A.M. She was born on January 17, 1927 in LeCompte, Louisiana and is the daughter of the late Benjamin W. Young and Alice (Austin) Young. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Howard Cecil Fitzwater and also by three grandchildren; Howard E. Fitzwater, Jr. of Texas, Brian J. Wick of Dayton, OH, and Joshua Aaron Fitzwater of Springfield, Missouri.

She was member of the First Assembly of God Church of Greenville. During her career she was a bookkeeper for companies in Texas and in Ohio. Her most rewarding time was when she was able to spend her time as a stay at home mother raising family in Vidor, Texas and also in Greenville, where she helped manage the family dairy farm.

Jewel is survived by her daughter, Mary Hutcheson and husband Thomas of Kettering, OH and four sons; Larry G. Fitzwater with wife Beverly of Greenville, Ronald W. Fitzwater and wife Caroline of Pearland, Texas. Lorren W. Fitzwater with wife Patricia of Alverado, Texas, and Howard E. Fitzwater, Sr. of Vidor, Texas. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers; Richard Young and wife Madge of Harrisonburg, VA and Dennis Young and wife Mary Ann of Jacksonville, FL. as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Jonch Allen Burtrum, 63, of Jamestown, TN will be held Wednesday, September 11 at 10 am (EST) at Friendship Community Church in New Paris, Ohio with ministers Dennis Riffell and Phillip Garbig officiating.

Singing will be by Karen Spencer and Edna Jo Cook. Burial will follow in Friendship Community Church Cemetery.

Mr. Burtrum passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN.

He was born December 24, 1949 in Fentress County, to the late William Henry and Edna Mae (Linder) Burtrum.

Mr. Burtrum worked for General Motors with over 30 years of service. He moved back to Jamestown in 2003.

He cherished and respected all women and had compassion for children and people that were down on their luck. He also loved to hunt and fish.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Mr. Burtrum is survived by two sons, William G. Burtrum and wife Marion of New Madison, OH and Jonch Leewallace Burtrum and wife Angie of Texas; two stepdaughters, Kei`anna Keefer and Teasha Stephens both of Jamestown; five brothers and a sister-in-law, Jake and Cheri Burtrum of Miamisburg, OH, Willie Burtrum and Jim Burtrum both of Jamestown, TN, Eugene Linder of Statesville, NC and Jimmy Conatser of Muncie, IN; four sisters and a brothers-in-law, Virginia Tipton of Greenville, OH, Pauline and Nelson Sipes and Nancy Parker of Statesville, NC and Geneva and Ora Davidson of New Madison, OH and close friends, Peggy Beaty and Robert Brown.

Alan Dale Hoschouer, 58, of Greenville, passed away Monday evening, September 2, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Dayton.

He was born January 2, 1955 in Sidney, OH, son of the late Forest Dale and Adah Maude (Weiler) Hoschouer.

Alan had worked as a construction superintendent for numerous companies throughout the United States. He was a Veteran of the US Army from having served in Germany.

He is survived by his wife, Donna (Worley) Hoschouer, whom he married December 12, 2006; children, Hannah M. Hoschouer, David Shirley, Joseph Shirley, Amanda Campos, Jennifer Farias, Donald Philip De La Torres, and De Lyla De La Torres; grandchildren, Andrew, Mario, Ethan, Sarah, Ian, Nadia, Saphire, Tristan, Aiden, and Wyatt; sisters, Robin (Ed) Zeller, and Katherine (William) Klaben; and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Alan's life with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held Thursday, September 12 from 3-6 p.m. at the Ansonia First Church of God (shelter house) in Ansonia, OH.

Michael Allan Hays (September 3, 2013)

Michael Allan Hays, 44, of New Madison, passed away on September 3, 2013 in New Madison. Michael was born in Dayton, Ohio on July 15, 1969 to Carl and Maxine (Coon) Hays of Hollansburg, Ohio.

Michael loved animals, especially his four cats.

Michael is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Minnie Coon and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Bertha Hays.

In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by a son, Steven Hays of Winchester, Indiana; a daughter, Ashley Hays of Lafayette, Indiana; a granddaughter, Hadley; two sisters and brother in law, Carla and Daniel Mintkenbaugh of Florence, Kentucky and Catherine Hays of Hollansburg; three nieces, Shelby and Brooke Mintkenbaugh, and Hannah Hays.

A graveside celebration of Michael's life will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 3:30 PM at the Hollansburg Cemetery with Rev. Eric Fee officiating. Michael's family will receive friends on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 1:30-3:00 at Braund Pope Funeral Home in New Madison. Judith Anne Brown, 65, of Piqua, OH, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, OH.

She was born May 30, 1948, in Bradford, OH, a daughter of the late Arthur Lawson and Wavelene Florence (Winn) Wion. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, David S. Brown; and a sister, Jeana Eileen Moody.

Judy was a kind hearted, devoted mother and grandmother. She was a firm believer of her faith, attended St. Mary’s parish in Piqua and valued education. She was an avid reader and enjoyed following current events. She enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends.

She is survived by her children, David Lyn (Vickie) Matthieu of Bradford, OH, Kelly Gene Matthieu of Akron, OH, Bobbi Jo (Bill) Allen of Sidney, OH, Michael Alan (Julie) Matthieu of Versailles, OH, Johnny M. (Monica) Brown of LaFollette, TN, and Kimberly (Brad) Morton of Piqua, OH; siblings, Karen A. (Paul) Parmenter of Vandalia, OH, and Kenneth A. (Audrey) Wion of Versailles, OH. Judith is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Florence Lucille (Kruckeberg) Putterbaugh (September 3, 2013)

Florence Lucille (Kruckeberg) Putterbaugh of Powell, Ohio succumbed to COPD on September 3, 2013. She was born on January 22, 1927 near Froid, Montana to the late Walter and Chelcie Kruckeberg. Although she and her family moved to Versailles when she was 12 years old, Florence’s heart was always in Montana. She was married to Ward Eugene “Gene” Putterbaugh for 59 years before his passing in 2004. She is survived by children Beverly (Steven) Larson and Ward Eugene “Gene” Putterbaugh, and by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Other survivors include sisters Esther Heft and Alice Swinger, brothers Bob & Larry (Susette) Kruckeberg, her sister-in-law Maxine Putterbaugh Alvarez, and by many nieces and nephews. Her sister Laura (James) Batty preceded her in death.

Florence worked at North American Aviation, The Ohio Hardware Association, and Scioto Village and Riverview School for Boys. She was an excellent seamstress and quilter and she loved to travel.

A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Florence will be held on Saturday September 7, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio.

Arthur C. “Art” Mullen (September 3, 2013)

Arthur C. “Art” Mullen, 85, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

He was born of May 27, 1928, in Walker, West Virginia, to the late Charles and Margaret (Davis) Mullen. He was married January 15, 1950, for 49 years to Trudy (Burleson) Mullen, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by a son and daughter in law James “Jim” and Delores “Dee” Mullen, of Covington, Daughter and son in law Dianne and Dick Brown, of Greenville, and daughter and son in law Vicky and Bill True, of Covington; grandchildren Scott (Courtney) Mullen, Chad Mullen, Brandy Brown, Betsy Brown, and Brian True; great grandchildren Maggie and Madison Mullen; brothers Charles (Marie), Webb (Jean), Richard (Jean), Randall (Ernestine), and Paul (Patti), and sisters Cathy (Terry) Daggett, Annie (Tom) Daniell, and Ruth (Bob) Martin. He is also survived by a very special friend Lottie Grass.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Trudy, his second wife Cora, and his brother Clarence Mullen.

Art was retired from the United States Air Force with 21 years of service to his country. After his retirement from the Air Force he was employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. In 1977 he and his son Jim opened Mullen’s Firestone business in Covington, Ohio.

He was a member of the Darke County Chamber of Commerce and of the Greenville and Covington Kiwanis Clubs.

Art was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenville, where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, Treasurer, and Statutory Agent of the church.

There will be a service held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the First Baptist Church, 7233 St. Rt. 121 North, Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Tom Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 5-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, as well as one half hour prior to the service at church. There will be a Graveside Military Service conducted by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.

Gerald S. Kenworthy (September 2, 2013)

Gerald S. Kenworthy, 72, of Greenville, passed away late Monday afternoon, September 2, 2013, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN.

He was born November 22, 1940, in Preble County, son of the late Walter and Mildred (Crowe) Kenworthy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn M. (Simons) Kenworthy, on May 16, 2010.

Gerald was retired from the Union City Body. He and his wife owned and operated Kenworthy Auction Services in Greenville.

He is survived by sons, David (Christina) Kenworthy of Piqua and George (friend Deeanne) Kenworthy of Greenville; grandchildren, Carrisa Kenworthy, Ben Mendenhall, Dustin Kenworthy, Katelyn Kenworthy, Natasha Kenworthy, Noah Kenworthy and Baylee Kenworthy; sister, Maxine (Norman) Didier of Versailles; brothers, Earl (Carol) Kenworthy, and Gale Kenworthy both of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 5, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Old Teegarden Cemetery near Ansonia.

Billy “Bill” L. Garbig (August 31, 2013)

Billy “Bill” L. Garbig, 80, of Greenville, passed away on August 31, 2013 at his residence. He was born on August 5, 1933 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Bion and Marie (Clark) Garbig.

Bill was a machinist and business owner. He owned Garbig’s Machine Shop for over 20 years. Bill loved flying his plane, go carts, cars, fishing, boats, trap shooting, hunting and spending time with his family.

Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Koneta (Fremd) Garbig; a son, Douglas Garbig of Greenville; a daughter, Darcell and Tim Burns of Greenville; grandchildren, Ryan, Meghan, Evan and Lauren Burns; siblings, Dennis and Sherry Garbig of Greenville and Jill and Larry Lucy of Detour, Michigan; a brother-in-law, William “Bill” Fremd; nieces and nephews, Mark and Heather Garbig of Arcanum, Danielle and Eric Moore of Arcanum, Chris Lucy of Detour, Michigan, Kenny Lucy of Troy, Ohio, Scott Lucy of Detour, Michigan and many great nieces, nephews and friends.

Margaret Marie Richards (August 30, 2013)

Margaret Marie Richards, 32, of Greenville, Ohio went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2013 at James Cancer Center after a valiant battle with cancer. Margaret was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 15, 1981 to Scott and Joyce (Schafer) Richards.

Margaret was a graduate of Greenville High School. She had worked for her dad at Richards Construction, Gade Nursing Home, GTI, Camp Otterbein and Camp Widewater in Ohio. She had also worked at Hole in the Wall Gang camps in Connecticut and most importantly was recently focused on “coffee with friends”.

Margaret met life with lots of passion. She was passionate about the cause of Christ and her own relationship with God remains an example for others to pursue. She was also passionate about people. You never left her presence without feeling better than when you arrived. Time spent with Margaret was sure to be infused with laughter, hope and love. She was a courageous individual that spent her time loving others and loving Christ. Margaret lived her life to meet Jesus and was victorious in her battle – exemplifying grace and dignity in all she did.

Margaret was artistic and creative. She loved animals, especially llamas, owls and turtles – or cooters as she lovingly referred to them. She was proud of her Celtic lineage and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Margaret is preceded in death by grandparents, Don and Elizabeth Schafer; a grandfather, Ray Richards; and an aunt, Janet Richards.

In addition to her parents, Margaret is survived by a brother, Warren Richards; a grandmother, Lenore Richards; aunts and uncles, Janet Jaggers and Scott (Childers), Mark and Jewell Michaels, Dr. Don Schafer, and Daniel Richards; great aunts, Korleen Mangas and Dixie Byrum; great uncles, David and Barbara Cummings and Lawrence Cummings; counsins, Jessica Jaggers, Joel and Maegen Hisle, Chris and Bev Michaels and many extended family and friends.

Judy (Zechar) Snider (August 31, 2013)

Judy (Zechar) Snider, age 67 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 4:35 A.M. Saturday August 31, 2013 in the Miami Valley Hospital Dayton, Ohio as a result of an automobile accident. She was born November 19, 1945 in Greenville, Ohio and the daughter of the late D. Byron and Lois C. (Deubner) Zechar

Judy was a very well-known hair stylist primarily working in the Dayton area. She loved her flowers which was quite evident when driving by her home in Greenville. She was very active in community events, an animal lover- particularly dogs-and enjoyed cooking, collecting and displaying pictures of all the lucky people who were part of her life and displayed an avid love for Ohio State Football.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter in law Liz Snider in 2010 and a brother in law Bill Snider in 2004.

Judy is survived by her husband Roger B. Snider of Greenville. They were married September 3, 1967. Also her son Michael K. Snider of Kettering, brothers Gary (Sally) Zechar and Kent (Nancy) Zechar all of Greenville. Brothers in law John (Linda) Snider and Tom (Elaine) Snider all of the Phoenix, Arizona area. Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday September 5, 2013 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Rev. David Hawley officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Church Cemetery Greenville, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Wednesday September 4, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.

Lindsay Dale Brown age 64, of New Madison, Ohio passed away at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at her residence. Lindsay was born January 26, 1949 in Greenville, Ohio to Grace (Pickett) McMaken of Arcanum and the late Dale & Martha (Gilbert) Trissel.

Lindsay is survived by her husband of 30 years, Cary L. Brown whom she married December 31, 1982; children, Brian & Dawn Godown of Port Charlotte, Florida, Tab & Randi Brown of Indianapolis, Indiana, Amanda & Ron Nelson of New Madison, Missi & Mike Levine of Carmel, Indiana and Franklin Brown of New Madison; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; brother, Steve Trissel of Avon Park, Florida; half-brothers, Jeff Cheadle of Moorpark, California and David Small of Eureka, California; and a half-sister, Jan Chaney of Tipp City.

Lindsay was a homemaker, mother and photographer. She was a member of the Ft. Jefferson United Methodist Church. Lindsay was chosen “Mother of the Year” for 45 consecutive years.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Doug Baker officiating. Martha Jeanette Rhoades age 81, of Rossburg, Ohio passed away on Friday, August 30, 2013 at her residence. Jeanette was born May 11, 1932 in Union City, Indiana to the late Ora & Elsie (Stump) Livingston.

Jeanette is survived by her sons & daughter-in-law, Ken Rhoades of Rossburg and Todd & Amy Rhoades of Union City, Indiana; grandchildren, Justin Rhoades and Austin & Ashley Rhoades; great-grandson, Lukas Rhoades; brothers, Danny Livingston of Union City, Ohio and Lester Livingston of New Weston; and sisters, twin Joan Hime of Union City, Indiana and Florence Bateman of Union City, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, Jeanette is also preceded in death by her husband, H. Royce Rhoades on October 8, 2007 whom she married August 1, 1953; and brothers, Melvin and Thurman Rhoades.

Jeanette was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a member of Community United Methodist Church and WSCS of the church.
