Larry E. Hicks (February 26, 2013)

Larry E. Hicks, 77, of Richmond, Indiana and formally of New Madison, passed away on February 26, 2013 in Richmond, Indiana. Larry was born in Union City, Indiana on June 29, 1935 to the late Thurman and Faye (Bosworth) Hicks.

Larry was a 1956 graduate of New Madison High School and worked for Belden Wire in Richmond for 37 years as a shipping and receiving supervisor. Larry also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Larry served as a council member for the city of New Madison and also Mayor of New Madison at one time. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, skiing, and watching birds. Larry especially enjoyed working with his hands rather it be woodworking or machinery like his father before him. Larry also enjoyed playing cards, putting together puzzles, the Cincinnati Reds, country music and dancing with his loving wife. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family and close friends. He was a member of the Druids of Richmond, Eagles, Moose, American Legion Laroy Farst Post and the VFW. Larry was just one of a kind.

In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Maureen (Painter) Hicks who passed away on March 31, 1999; two brothers, Bill Hicks and Joe Cannon, and his faithful companion, Mitzi.

Larry is survived by a son, Kurt M. Hicks of Centerville, Ohio; a daughter, Shawn and Wayne Bry of Richmond, Indiana; four grandchildren, Cortney Hicks, Kyle Hicks, Bodhi Bry and Griffin Bry; a brother, Gene Cannon of Muncie, Indiana; and two sisters, Grace Eley and Ginny Brooks both of Florida.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Golden Living Center and AseraCare Hospice for the great care they gave to their father during his stay.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Eric Fee being asked to officiate. Burial will follow in the Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests in honor of their father to send memorial contributions to AseraCare Hospice 4427 Garwood Pl, Richmond, IN 47374.

Boyd L. “Buster” Kean III (February 26, 2013)

Boyd L. “Buster” Kean III, age 59, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 5:10 AM at the Dayton VA Medical Center. He was born on July 6, 1953 in Union City, Indiana, to the late Boyd L. & Lucille V. (Cash) Kean II.

He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Boyd L. & Cherry Kean IV of Manila, Philippines; sister and brother in law, Sue & Bob Koons of Georgetown, Indiana; half sisters, Beverly Rush of Greenville; Leslie Vicedo of Chula Vista, California; and Audrey Walther of Port Charlotte, Florida; nieces and nephews, Virginia & Doug Long, Donald Koons and Melody Koons; great nieces and nephews, Robert Long, Jennifer Long, Ashley Long and Kinder Long; as well as numerous cousins.

Boyd was a member of the United States Marines.

Family will receive friends on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 1-3 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. There will be a graveside service held immediately following the visitation in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio, with Pastor Terry Haworth officiating.

William E. "Bill" Wolford, 78, of Greenville, passed away early Saturday morning, February 23, 2013 at his residence.

He was born September 1, 1934 in Greenville, son of the late Lemuel and Gladys (Raman) Wolford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Leona (Rich) Wolford on June 10, 2008.

Bill was retired as a Lieutenant for the Greenville Police Department having served the community for 31 years. He had also driven the delivery truck for Loudy's Office Machines in Greenville for 22 years. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Greenville.

He is survived by his sons, Roger (Trish) Wolford of Greenville and Greg (Debbie) Wolford of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Jordy Wolford, John, Michelle, David, and Philip Wolford; a great grandson, Jordy Wolford, Jr.; step grandson, Michael (Beth) DeLong; step great grandchildren, Dejah, Emma, and Brianne DeLong; sisters, Phyllis Williamson of Greenville, and Carol Flory of Arcanum; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with police honors will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 3, at the Bible Baptist Church, 510 Front St., Greenville, with Pastor Ron Isom officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 1 till 2 p.m. The ask that family and friends please write down a story or memory of Bill and bring to the church with you.

Dolores Jean (Ray) Coombs (February 22, 2013)

Dolores Jean (Ray) Coombs, 81 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Friday February 22, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Heartland of Greenville. She was born August 21, 1931 in Greenville, Ohio the daughter of the late Ora & Beulah (Hecker) Ray. She was a homemaker and a member of the Women of The Moose, & CB Club Fellowship.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Robert William Coombs whom she married October 5, 1950; brother: Melvin Ray.

She is survived by her son & daughter in law: Allen & Tess Coombs of Greenville; grandchildren: Amy & Jason Laughman; great grandchildren: Lacey, Eric, & Lesley Laughman, Antonio Jouett; brothers & sister in law: Dick & Judy Ray of Ansonia, Jack Ray of Florida; sister: Lorena Wright of Union City, Ohio.

Wilbur McMaken, age 94, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013, 12:15pm, at Alterra Sterling House, Greenville.

Wilbur was born July 29, 1918, in Piqua, Ohio, the son of Fred and Ruth (Denman) McMaken.

Wilbur, a World War II veteran, was retired from Van Leer Container. He was a life-time member of VFW Post 7262.

In addition to his parents, Wilbur was preceeded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty (Byers) McMaken, son Stephen L. McMaken, brothers Forrest McMaken, Richard McMaken, John McMaken, and Walter McMaken, and sister Betty McMaken Frantom.

Wilbur is survived by his daughter, Charlene (Tom) Pickerill-Bowman, of Delaware, OH, and son, Fred (Pat) McMaken of Greenville; grandchildren Blair (Kim) Pickerill, Louisville, KY, Craig (Amanda) Pickerill, Washington Court House, OH, Eric (Julia) Pickerill, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Troy McMaken, Nashville, TN, Tara McMaken, Nashville, TN, and Kari (Noah) Hutson, Columbus, OH; step-grandchildren Jessica Stong-Lee, West Milton, OH, and Jennifer Strong, Cleveland, OH; 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 3, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Eric Pickerill officiating. Burial will take place a later date in the Miami Memorial Park near Covington.

Marjorie K. Matthieu age 91, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 8:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Versailles Health Care Center. Marjorie was born August 15, 1921 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Homer & Amelia (Rose) Miller.

Marjorie is survived by a son, Robert A. Matthieu of Versailles; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Gerald Miller of Piqua and Andrew Miller of Piqua; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie is also preceded in death by her husband, Marion J. Matthieu; daughter, Juanita Goubeaux; sisters, Ella Miller, Dorothy McClune, Opal Lutz and Ruth Victor; and brothers, Harold, Robert, Ralph, Walter, Lester and Marion Miller.

Marjorie was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Charles J. Abney (February 20, 2013)

Charles J. Abney, age 86 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Richmond, Indiana where he had lived most of his life, passed away at 1:32 A.M. Wednesday February 20, 2013 at the Brethren Retirement Community Greenville, Ohio. Charles was born April 29, 1926 in Locust Branch, Kentucky and the son of the late Andy and Annie (Skinner) Abney.

Charles was retired having worked at Hill’s Roses of Richmond, Indiana for 40 years.

He was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Eaton Pike Pentecostal Tabernacle where he had served as Deacon and led many bible studies. He had also been a Sunday School Superintendent. Charles loved to garden and was most proud of his beautiful and perfect gardens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Bernice (Centers) Abney. They had been married for 64 years. Also by a son Terry Abney and sisters Louise Applegate and Christine Chasteen.

Charles is survived by his son and daughter in law Ted and Diana Abney of Greenville. Granddaughters Angela Tait, Monica Abney, Nikole (Tyler) Fasnacht and Terra (Chad) Denniston. Also great grandchildren Treighton Fasnacht, Hudson Fasnacht, Taylor Denniston, Zackary Denniston, Fiona Tait, Shane Newton, Cailey Hamilton and Autumn Hamilton as well as a sister Irene Abner.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday February 23, 2013 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Ron Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Earlham Cemetery Richmond, Indiana. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until time of the services in the funeral home. The Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Full Military Honors Saturday at the Greenville funeral home.

Dan L. Miley, 71 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Sunday February 17, 2013 at 3:22 PM at Good Samaritan Hospital Dayton, Ohio. He was born June 19, 1941 in Greenville, Ohio the son of the late Z.H. & Mary L. (Teaford) Miley. He was a grain farmer. He served in the United State Army during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Greenville High School class of 1959, a lifetime member of the FFA, and was a member of the Treaty City Amateur Radio Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife: Ronda Miley; Son & daughter in law: Nathan & Erin Miley of Greenville; Granddaughters: Nevan, Nola, & Nalayna; Brother & sister in law: David & Janet Miley of East Peoria, Ill.

Services will be held on Saturday February 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM at EUM Church 1451 Sater Street Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Dr. Jeff Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Nashville Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday at the church. Veteran’s graveside services will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. Arrangements are being handled by Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Patricia A. Brumbaugh (February 14, 2013)

Patricia A. Brumbaugh, 64, of Greenville, formerly of Ansonia passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Village Green Healthcare Center of Greenville.

She was born November 7, 1948 in Greenville, the daughter of the late Robert J. and Elnora Lee (Bretz) Stoltz. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John L. Brumbaugh; and son, Scott Brumbaugh.

Pat had retired from Fram in Greenville.

She is survived by a grandson, Daniel Brumbaugh; a step grandson, Tyler Renner; sister-in laws, Pam Brumbaugh, Carolyn Brumbaugh and Peg Brumbaugh; her Uncle Larry Bretz and wife Betty, her Aunt Peg Bretz, and several other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 20 at the Greenville Township memorial Gardens.

There will be no public viewing.

Joseph A. Hunt (February 15, 2013)

Joseph A. Hunt, 93, of Greenville passed away early Friday morning, February 15, 2013 at Heartland of Greenville.

He was born October 22, 1919 in Brown Township, Darke County, Ohio, the son of the late Stanford and Freda (Drew) Hunt. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Shiverdecker; granddaughter, Shirley Collins; great granddaughter, Madison Bowers; brothers, Lester Hunt and Faris "Shorty" Hunt.

Joseph retired in 1982 from the Union City Body Company where he had been a supervisor. He was a well known farmer around the Ansonia area . He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp in World II, in which he received the Bronze Star Medal. He was a lifetime member of the Greenville VFW, and a member of the Masonic Lodge formerly of Ansonia.

He is survived by his wife Mildred (McCullough) Hunt whom he married June 14, 1941; son, James (fiance, Bonnie Yates) Hunt of Eaton; a daughter, Marilyn (James) Bowers of Greenville; grandchildren, Todd (fiance, Georgetta Bennett) Shiverdecker of Houston, Jon (Elizabeth Smith) Hunt of Vacaville, CA, Stacey (Jory) Guinn of Greenville, Derrick (Lynn) Bowers of Panama City Beach, FL; 14 great grandchildren; and a sister, Kathryn (Ralph) Knick of Greenville.

Services with full military honors by the Greenville Honor Guard will be held at 10:30 Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with the Rev. Eric Knight officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

T. Maxine Bayless, age 87 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Springboro, Ohio passed away at 6:32 A.M. Wednesday February 13, 2013 in Wayne HealthCare of Greenville. Maxine was born February 18, 1925 in Somerset, Kentucky and the daughter of the late George & Cora (Whitaker) Vaught.

Maxine was retired having worked for 25 years as a secretary at T.R.W. - Global Industries of Dayton, Ohio

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Lee Bayless in 2009. They were married February 14, 1946. Also by her daughter Susan Kaye Wilson in 2011; brothers Manford Vaught and Alfred Vaught and sisters Marie Evans and Doretha Zent.

Maxine is survived by her son in law Stephen K. Wilson of Greenville, grandsons Justin (Jenny) Wilson and Aaron (Abbi) Wilson, great grandsons Evan Wilson and Jacob Wilson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday February 18, 2013 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Todd Reish officiating. Marvin H. Lenker, age 79, of Rossburg, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 11:43 PM at Heartland of Greenville. He was born on April 22, 1933 in Rossburg, Ohio, to the late Gerald & Ruth (DeWeese) Lenker.

He is survived by his wife Carol (Culver) Lenker; children, Betty (Edward) O’Shea, Ron & Dan Drish, Brenda (Les) Gibson, Barbara Pruit and friend Jim, Shirley Coby (Allan) Phillippi, Kathy (Ron) Widener, Jackie (Dane) Whittington, Janice (Danny) Vie, Mary Culver, Joyce (Dale) Lyme, and Mike (Heidee) Culver; 23 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brothers, Eugene (Hannah Mae) Lenker, Robert (Marcia) Lenker and David Lenker; sisters, Mary (Don) Richey, Geraldine (Lowell) Threewits, Naoma (Jay) Voke; brother in law, Melvin Gehron; sisters in law, Ester and Ann; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife Helen (Rose) Lenker; second wife Mary (Strait) Coby Lenker; and brothers, Joe and Paul Lenker.

He was a farmer, worked as an EMT at Ansonia Rescue, owner and operated of OH Farm Services and L & Z Mowers. Marvin and Carol Delivered RV’s together while traveling all over. He was a member of the United States Army serving in WWII and the Greenville Missionary Church, as well as a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

There will be a service held on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Greenville Missionary Church, 1110 North Broadway, Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 2-6 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Hubert Dale Reier age 84, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 9:08 A.M. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at his residence. Hubert was born September 26, 1928 in Cranberry Prairie, Ohio to the late Joseph G. & Alwilda K. (Mueller) Reier.

Hubert is survived by his children, Richard & Marlene Reier of Ansonia, Steven Reier of Ansonia, Michael & Tammy Reier of Greenville, Kathern Reier of Greenville, Sheila & Randy Bradburn of Greenville, Phillip & Sonya Reier of Greenville, Perry & Lorraine Reier of Fostoria, Kristena & Myron Damewood of Union City, Ohio and Melissa & Todd Alspaugh of Greenville; 32 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; sister & brother-in-law, Roxie & Harold Young; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Hubert is also preceded in death by his wife, Freda Mae (Beam) Reier on May 23, 2012 whom he married June 11, 1949; son, Ronald William Reier; great granddaughter, Olive Clark; and brothers, Lester, Gene and Norman Reier.

Hubert was a retired mechanic and formerly worked at New Idea in Coldwater. Hubert was a member of Greenville North Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Dorothy M. Lammott age 87, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:02 A.M. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. Dorothy was born March 10, 1925 in Greenville to the late Raymond & Roseanna (Smith) Wood.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Frances (Wood) Stocker of Greenville; grandsons, Travis Stocker and Brad Stocker; great granddaughters, Cortney, TJ, Sierra, Sara, Jenna and Lynsie; great grandsons, Dakota and Jarrod; 14 great-great grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Ralph & Linda Wood of Ansonia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Lammott; son-in-law, Bill Stocker; brothers, Raymond, Glen and Ira Wood; and sisters, Sara Wombold, Laura Randall and Mable Ritchey.

Dorothy formerly worked at Meehan’s Bakery, Anchor Hocking Glass and as a nurse.

Eugene A. “Bud” Best (February 10, 2013)

Eugene A. “Bud” Best, age 85 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 10:24 P.M. Sunday February 10, 2013 in the emergency room of Wayne HealthCare Greenville, Ohio. Bud was born July 26, 1927 in Union City, Ohio and the son of the late Carl & Mildred (Flatter) Best.

Bud retired in 1990 from his bread delivery job with the Holsum Bread Company.

He was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army. Also a member of the Greenville American Legion, Eldorado Am-Vets, enjoyed gardening, bird watching, the Cincinnati Reds and his dogs.

Bud is survived by his wife Frances L. (Ellison) Best of Greenville. They were married July 28, 1950. Also his children Bob (Susan) Best of Phillipsburg, Terry (Brenda) Best of Greenville, Mike (Jeannette) Best of Greenville, Beth Day (Kim Thompson) of Lynn, Indiana and Jane (Robert) Ross of Greenville. Grandchildren Chad Best, Jennifer Best, Jessica Hall, Julie Price, Alysha Best, Dorin Best, Brian Best, Tyler Best, Adam Best, Jamie Ross, Karlin Ross and Robbie Ross. Great grandchildren Bellamy Hall, Jayla Price and Aubree Best.

John W. Clark, age 88, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 8:45 pm at the Brethren Retirement Community. He was born on April 12, 1924 in Greenville to the late John & Della (Devilbiss) Clark and grew up near Bear's Mill, outside Greenville.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Shari and Jeremiah Gallagher of Chipita Park, Colorado and grandchildren, April of Phoenix, Arizona and Micah of Los Angeles, California; son and daughter-in-law John Clark and Laurie Hudson of Avondale Estates (Atlanta), Georgia.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by Inez (Grote) Clark and brothers, Hubert, E.J., Nolan, Harold, Dwight and Blaine and sisters, Ruby Bright, Ruth Pierce, Welma Shepherd and Fayne Beichler.

John graduated from Greenville High School in 1942 and excelled in track and cross country. He was a member of the U.S. Navy Coast Guard during the Second World War (1944/45), serving aboard the USS Pueblo in the South Pacific. He was co-owner and operator (with brother-in-law Robert Olwine) of the Treaty City Coal Yard his entire working life. John was a farm boy at heart and also raised sheep for nearly 50 years.

He was at various times a member of the Greenville chapters of both the Lion's Club and the Elks Club and did volunteer work for the local YMCA. He was a member of the Darke County Oratorio Society and Darke County Barbershop Chorus. He used his wonderful tenor voice to the glory of the God who gave it to him as both a choir member and quartet member at the Second E.U.M Church in Greenville. He was an avid golfer, a rabid auto racing fan and enjoyed league bowling for a number of years

A memorial service will be held when the family gets together in April and will be announced at a later date. It is the wish of the family that memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society.

Sandie L. Penny, 61, of Greenville passed away early Friday morning, February 8, 2013, at Kindred Healthcare in Dayton.

She was born March 31, 1951 in Cincinnati, raised by the late Harvey and Cloris Fairbanks, and daughter of the late Jean Seal.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Penny; children, Chris Penny, Shelly (Jeff) Yoder, and Misty Penny all of Greenville; grandchildren, Heather Fornshil, Butch Yoder, Shawn Yoder, Ashley Yoder, Chelsea Howard, and Aron Penny; great grandchildren, Cam Fornshil and Corben Yoder; sisters, Kay Seal of Maysville, KY, Lynn Boyd of Vancouver, Wash., and Cindy Spinney of Salem, Ore.; brothers, Danny, Davey, and Mikey Johnson all of Portland, Ore.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 15, at the Greenville Cemetery (new part).

There will be no public visitation.

Joyce Evelyn (Landers) Troutwine, 84 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Friday February 8, 2013 at 7:15 AM at the Sterling House, Greenville, Ohio. She was born February 27, 1928 in Randolph County, Indiana the daughter of the late Carl & Grace (Flory) Landers. She worked at Second National Bank for 21 years, State Unemployment Office for 6 years; and for the Greenville City Building for 14 years retiring in 1986.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 48 ½ years Duane Troutwine on May 7, 2002.

She is survived by her loving sister & brother in law: AnnaLee & Frank Dawson of Ansonia; loving nieces & spouses: Linda (Baker) & Steve Nixon of Greenville, Sherry (Baker) & Mark Echeman of Greenville; loving nephew & spouse: Wayne & Nancy baker of Greenville; her loving companion: Heidi.

Services will be held on Tuesday February 12, 2013 at 2:30 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Fee officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery Fort Jefferson, Ohio. Kimberly A. Holsapple (February 7, 2013)

Kimberly A. Holsapple, 51, of New Madison, passed away on February 7, 2013. Kimi was born on June 9, 1961 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Forrest and Hilda Sutton.

Kimi was a graduate of Trotwood High School. She worked at Tri Village School cafeteria and was a homemaker. Kimi was a member of the Harrison Street Baptist Church where she led praise and worship. She was a gospel singer and songwriter, and sang at other churches, fairs, retirement homes and cruise ships. Kimi enjoyed riding the motorcycle with her husband, getting manicures and pedicures, collecting lighthouses and taking goofy pictures. She loved family get-togethers, and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Kimi always made you feel unique when you were with her and she was fiercely loyal to the people she loved. She had a nickname for everyone and was known to never meet a stranger. Kimi loved the family of God, and was always helping others in need.

Kimi is survived by her husband, Steven Holsapple; a son, Jesse and Sherry Holsapple of Eldorado; four grandchildren, Trey Luke, Hannah and Kaleb Holsapple and Madison Cook; four brothers, Michael and Sheen Sutton of Norfolk, Virginia, Danny Sutton of Liberty, Kentucky, Timothy and Janie Sutton, and Brett and Angela Sutton both of Russell Springs, Kentucky; three sisters, Patricia and Eric Parten of Alabama, Brenda Sutton of Columbus, Ohio, and Cindy and Manuel Hooten of Liberty, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Harrison Street Baptist Church in New Madison with the Rev. Kyle Hermann officiating. Abigail Grace Brubaker, infant daughter of Devon and Jennifer (Glasscock) Brubaker of Arcanum, OH passed away shortly after birth Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

In addition to her parents Abigail is survived by her sisters and brothers, Samantha Faulks, Brandon Faulks, Jessica Glasscock, Haylee Brubaker; paternal grandparents, LuAnn Jones and Donald Brubaker; maternal grandparents, Carolyn Lasley-Glasscock and Timothy Ray Glasscock; paternal great grandmother Miriam McMichael; special aunts and uncles, Tina Glasscock Paulk, Teresa Lawson, Darwin Lawson, Sherri Brown, Halden Brubaker, Lamar Brubaker Quintin Brubaker; and several cousins and other extended family.

Joyce A. (Shiverdecker) Pipenger (February 3, 2012)

Joyce A. (Shiverdecker) Pipenger, 78, of New Madison, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2013 with her family by her side. Joyce was born on July 4, 1934 in Hollansburg, Ohio to the late Charles and Ruth (Hill) Shiverdecker.

Joyce attended New Madison Schools. She worked at the Brethren Retirement Community, was a past School Fair Board President, PTA Second Vice President, and a former member of the New Madison Fire Department Fire Belles. Joyce was a member of the United Brethren Church. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Billy; and three brothers, Charles Shiverdecker, Jr., Scott Shiverdecker and Jack Shiverdecker.

Joyce is survived by two sons, Bill and Lee Pipenger of Greenville, and Scott and Becky Pipenger of New Madison; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild; a brother, Jerome and Dayle Shiverdecker; two sisters, Nathalee Broadstock of Enon, Ohio, and Maacha and Jim Williams of Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Greenmound Cemetery, New Madison, Ohio with the Rev. Carol Duffield being asked to officiate. Joyce requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the New Madison Fire Department.

Marlene M. McClurg, 93, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on February 2, 2013 at 2:20 PM at the Gardens in Celina. She was born on December 10, 1919 in North Star, Ohio, to the late Clarence and Irene (Groff) Barga. On November 21, 1940 she married Paul McClurg who passed away on October 17, 2000.

She is survived by 13 children; Stephen (Marie) McClurg of Chickasaw, Patrick (Ginny) McClurg of Versailles, Thomas (Marilyn) McClurg of Tipp City, Susan (Harold) Hemmelgarn of New Bremen, Anne (Bill) Mangen of Celina, Edward (Rosie) McClurg of St. Sebastian, David (Wendy) McClurg of Bradenton, Florida, Dean (Darlene) McClurg of Tipp City, Mary (Larry) Eyink of Chickasaw, Mark “Tony” (Judy) McClurg of Tipp City, Teresa (Jim) Wente of New Bremen, Donna (Gary) Mix of Greenville and Rita (John) Schemmel of Maria Stein; 42 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sisters, Doris Rindler of Dayton and Maura Barga of Cincinnati; brother and sister in law David (Thelma) Barga of North Star; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home as well as Wednesday morning from 9-10 AM.

Mark E. Simpson, age 59 of Arcanum, Ohio passed away at 5:05 A.M. Saturday February 2, 2013 at his residence in Arcanum. Mark was born December 17, 1953 in Darke County, Ohio and the son of the late Eugene &Catherine (Sell) Simpson.

He retired in 2006 from Fram Corporation of Greenville. Mark was a Lieutenant in the Arcanum Fire Department and prior to that had served with the New Madison Fire Department. He also had played softball for many years.

He is survived by his wife Lisa K. (Brandon) Simpson of Arcanum. They were married June 20, 1986. Also sons Trent Baker & Kolby Baker; daughter Catherine Simpson; step son Kevin Dearth; grandchildren Lorrie Baker & Bryson Baker; brothers Donald Simpson, Ronald Wilson, Wes (Twila) Simpson & Jesse Simpson and sisters Sue (Richard) Frankman & Marla Simpson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday February 8, 2013 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Grenville, Ohio with Pastor Matt O’Shell officiating. He is survived by his wife Wilma (Staudt) Graves of Covington, Ohio, whom he married on November 23, 1979; daughter Jill Graves of Verona, Ohio; sons and daughters in law, Tim & Cathy Graves of Versailles, Ohio, and Cary & Tess Graves of Piqua, Ohio; step daughter and caregiver Janet Etter of Covington, Ohio; step daughter in law Marianne Etter of Covington, Ohio; grandchildren, Jaimee Strayer, Jessica (Doug) Barry, Jim (Mandy) Graves, Stacy (Derek) Dirksen, Christy Graves, Charles Graves, Casey Graves and Clayton Graves; great grandchildren, Cora, Andrew, Justin, Briana, Carly, Andrea, Grady and Easton; step grandchildren, Amanda Turner, Sarah Bullis, Ross Etter, Grace Meyer, Paul Etter and Vicki Etter; step great grandchildren, Lilly, Sandy and Joann; sister in law Cecilia Etter of Versailles, Ohio.

Jimmy was a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from General Motors in Dayton after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Versailles Masonic Lodge #290 and 32nd Degree Mason of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton. He loved gardening, fishing, and Harness Races at The Great Darke County Fair.

The Versailles Masonic Lodge will be conducting a Masonic Memorial Service on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 7:00 PM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. A service will follow with Pastor Ed Ellis officiating. A burial will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 3-7 PM at the funeral home.

Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 5 and from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 6. Burial will take place in St. Remy Cemetery.

Julia Will, of Urbana, passed away, Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, in Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana.

She was born Dec. 4, 1957, in Limestone, Maine.

Judith Elaine Sullenbarger, age 74 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:47 P.M. Wednesday January 30, 2013 at her home. She was born March 7, 1938 in Randolph County, Indiana and the daughter of the late Andrew “Gail” & Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Lowdenslager.

Judy was retired having worked for 28 & ½ years in Data Processing for Hughes Supply.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Janice Sullenbarger in 2002 and a brother at birth.

Judy is survived by a daughter and son in law Julie A. & Danny Brickler of Greenville, grandchildren Lacey D. Brickler, Cole A. Brickler and Matthew R. Sullenbarger.
