Infant Jaxin Alexander Steward, 4 months of Ansonia, Ohio passed away on Sunday June 27, 2010 at 4:46 AM at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney, Ohio. He was born February 8, 2010 in Sidney, Ohio the son of Derek Steward of Sidney & Ashley McCleskey of Ansonia. He is preceded in death by his maternal great grandmother: Brenda McCleskey.

He is survived by his parents; Brothers: Parker Kaffenberger of Ansonia, & Kamren Steward of Sidney, Ohio; Sisters: Brooklyn Kaffenberger of Ansonia, Laurenz Steward of Ansonia, Kaija Steward of Sidney, Ohio, Kaelin Steward of Sidney; Paternal Grandmother: Kim Godsey of Lima, Ohio; Paternal Grandfather: Derek Steward Sr. of Colorado Springs, Co.; Paternal Great grandparents: Joyce & Roger Williams of Sidney; Maternal grandparents: Paul & Renea McCleskey of Ansonia; Maternal great grandparents: Roy & Shirley Turner of Ansonia, & James McCleskey of New Salisberry, Indiana; numerous aunts, uncles & cousins.

Services will be held on Friday July 2, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio with Pastor Tim Shrock officiating. Burial will follow in Ansonia Cemetery. Mildred Devor (June 27, 2010)

Mildred “Mid” Devor age 90 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 2:58 A.M. on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. Mildred was born January 14, 1920 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late George & Laura (Lutz) Crawford.

Mildred was a homemaker. She was a Lifetime member of the D.A.V.

In addition to her parents, Mildred is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Devor Sr. on December 10, 2005, whom she married November 14, 1936; and sisters, Ruth Dickey, Blanche Markland and Ruby Deeter.

Mildred is survived by a son & daughter-in-law, Charles & Paulette Devor Jr., of Pickerington; daughters, Linda Fry of Lexington, South Carolina and Mary Byrd of Warner-Robins, Georgia; grandchildren, Angie & Jeff Cannon, Adam Devor and Sarah Fry; and great grandchildren, Starla Fry and Jack Cannon.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the Brethren Retirement Community Chapel, 750 Chestnut Street, Greenville, Ohio, with Chaplain Bob Bitner officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens in Greenville. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 3, 2010 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the Brethren Retirement Community Chapel. Fae B. Ross (June 26, 2010)

Fae B. Ross age 84 of New Madison, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. Fae was born May 10, 1926 in Mount Union, Pennsylvania, to the late Russell E. & Mary (Harper) Bard.

Fae was a homemaker. She was a member of Ft. Black Order of Eastern Star and Laroy Farst Post#245 of the American Legion Auxiliary for 61 years.

In addition to her parents, Fae is also preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Ross on November 14, 2005, whom she married December 7, 1946; grandson, Jeffrey Menger; and brother, James Bard.

Fae is survived by a son, Michael D. Ross of New Madison; daughters & sons-in-law, Joyce & Don Livingston of Tucson, Arizona and Linda & Jerry Oler of New Madison; grandchildren, Chad & Rhonda Oler of New Madison and Natalie & Chris Long of Delaware, Ohio; great grandchildren, Will, Nick, Joseph and Catherine Long; and brothers, Russell E. Bard of Lewistown, Pennsylvania and Tom Bard of Tucson, Arizona.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, with Rev. Lowell Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Otis E. Harman (June 25, 2010)

Otis E. Harman age 93 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 7:10 A.M. on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. Otis was born January 29, 1917 in Versailles, Ohio, to the late John E. & Myrtle (Day) Harman.

Otis was a welder at Fram Corporation for 27 years. He was a member of Beamsville Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, Otis is also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Margaret “Ruth” (Boyer) Harman; son, Edward L. Harman; grandson, Kent Harman; brother, Carl Harman; and sister, Lois Sigritz.

Otis is survived by his 2nd wife, Bernice E. (Day) Harman, whom he married June 1, 1972; son & daughter-in-law, Tommy L. & Beth Harman of Aiken, South Carolina; daughter, Diane McAlister of Westminster, South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Judy Harman of Versailles; step son & step daughter-in-law, Ted & Mary Ann Pratt of Greenville; step daughter, Kay Mikolic of Greenville; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great grandchild; 5 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren; brothers & sister-in-law, William Harman of Versailles, John J. & Miriam Harman of Versailles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Magdalen Monnin age 88 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Versailles Health Care Center. Mary was born August 14, 1921 in Newport, Ohio, to the late Louis & Stella (Dapore) Phlipot.

Mary formerly worked at Weaver Brothers and Poultry Producers in Versailles. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles.

In addition to her parents, Mary is also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Monnin, whom she married June 11, 1946; daughter, Judy Monnin; sons, Richard & Nolan Monnin; daughter-in-law, Kathleen (Post) Monnin; and brothers, Forest, Jerome and Lloyd Phlipot.

Mary is survived by a son, Gerald L. Monnin of Versailles; grandchildren, Gina & Thomas W. Ruth E. Grabeman (June 22, 2010)

Mrs. Ruth E. Grabeman, age 73 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 12:31 P.M. Tuesday June 22, 2010 in the emergency room of Kettering Medical Center. Ruth was born July 3, 1936 in Marion, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Ernest & Vivian (Anderson) Coulson.

Ruth was retired as a Registered Nurse having worked at Wayne Hospital, Plant Nurse at Fram Corporation, Rest Haven Nursing Home, Gade Nursing Home, Comprehensive Health Network and Hospice of Darke County.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Greenville, the Red Hat Society and a graduate of the Lima Memorial Hospital Registered Nursing Program. Ruth enjoyed shopping and traveling throughout the United States and abroad.

She is survived by her husband H. Samuel Grabeman of Greenville. They were married November 3, 1957. Also survived by her sons—Allan Grabeman of Fishers, Ind., Daniel Grabeman of Portsmouth, Ohio, daughters in law—Janice Grabeman of Portsmouth and Kay Grabeman Eltzroth of Frankton, Ind. Grandchildren—Katie Grabeman, Luke Grabeman, Jessica Grabeman and Mary Grabeman. A brother Eugene Coulson of Kenton, Ohio, sisters and brothers in law—Joan & Leonard Sielschott of Palm Coast, Fla., Mary & Richard Smallwood of Lima, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday June 26, 2010 at the St. John Lutheran Church 7814 St. Rt. 121-N. Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Alan Knoke officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday June 25, 2010 from 4 till 8 P.M. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio and on Saturday 1 hour prior to the services in he Church.

Robert D. Sullenbarger (June 22, 2010)

Mr. Robert Dean Sullenbarger, age 71 of Union City, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday June 22, 2010 at 9:30 AM at his residence. He was born February 4, 1939 in Union City, Ohio the son of the late Robert & Mildred (Vanatta) Sullenbarger.

He served in the United State Air Force. He work for Mong Construction, for the Ohio State patrol for 9 years, Prosecutors investigator for 5 years, Sheriff of Darke County for 12 years, he also worked at Farm & Fleet, Fitzwater’s, Kinnisons, & GTI.

He was a member of the American Legion, 40 & 8 Voiture, Buckeye State Sheriffs Association-life member, Elks, NRA. He enjoyed trapshooting, fishing, boating, & was a fan of John Wayne, NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt, & Dale Earnhardt Jr.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Brother: Nolan Sullenbarger.

He is survived by his wife: Rita (Anderson) Sullenbarger of Union City, Ohio whom he married June 22, 1973; Son & daughter in law: David & Angela Sullenbarger of Texas, Grandson: Nicholas; Granddaughters: Donie & Zoie; 3 devoted dogs; Brother & sister in law: Dan & Paula Bubemyre of Hamilton, Ohio; Brother in law & spouse: Charles & Penny Anderson of Eaton, Ohio; Sister in law: Bonnie Watkins of Eaton, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, & cousins.

Services will be held on Monday June 28, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Alan Knoke officiating. Mariam M. “Grannie” Wise age 69 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 21, 2010 at her daughter’s residence. Mariam was born March 15, 1941 in Maria Stein, Ohio, to the late Otto & Marjorie (Grilliot) Kremer.

Mariam was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville.

In addition to her parents, Mariam is also preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Wise in infancy; brother, Jim Kremer and sister, Patsy Kremer.

Mary was a store clerk at the former G.C. Murphy Store in Greenville.

Wanda L. Smith (June 19, 2010)

Wanda L. Smith, age 68 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Wayne Hospital, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on September 11, 1941 in Harlan County, Kentucky to the late Alex Barnes and Vera Mae (Rutherford) Barnes Smith.

Wanda was retired from Fram/Honeywell after 27 years of service. She was a member of the Triumphant Christian Center and loved flowers, collecting angels and most of all loved being with her grandkids.

She is preceded in death be her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby C. Smith of Greenville whom she married on September 13, 1958; daughters and sons in law, Diana (Toby) Weherley of Greenville, Lisa (Doug) Cole of Greenville; son and daughter in law, Kevin (Dianne) Smith of Union City, Ohio; grandchildren, Dwain (Angie Pullano) Hodge, Krystin (Michael) Wolfe, Travis Weherley, Tiffany (Ryan Foshee) Weherley, Christal Smith, Christine Sullivan, Savannah Bowles and Kenneth McFarland; great grandchildren, Dwain Hodge II and Aiden Cole Foshee; brothers and sisters in law, Howard (Jan) Barnes of Greenville, Clarence (Janet) Barnes of Fairborn, Ohio; sister, Elaine Harvey of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Steven R. Dickey (June 21, 2010)

Steven R. Dickey, 56, of Rossburg, OH passed away Monday, June 21, 2010 in Rifle, Colorado.

He was born August 10, 1953 in Greenville, OH, son of the late Harold E. Dickey and Leona E. (Schlechty) Dickey of Rossburg, OH.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas E. Dickey.

Steven was a graduate of Ansonia High School had worked as a self employed painter. He was a member of the Rossburg United Methodist Church and the Sons of the American Legion in Ansonia .

In addition to his mother he is survived by a sister, Vera (George) Moore of Millersville, MD; brothers, Norman (Toni) Dickey of London, OH and Dennis (Rowena) Dickey of Covington, OH; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH. Burial will follow in the Brock Cemetery.

LeNie Wilson (June 17, 2010)

Mrs. LeNie Wilson, age 79 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 3:25 P.M. Thursday June 17, 2010 at Miami Valley Hospital Dayton, Ohio. LeNie was born May 6, 1931 in Hastings, Nebraska and daughter of the late Walter and Marguerite (Gass) Wieck.

LeNie retired in 1998 from the Greenville City Schools where she was employed as the Secretary for the Athletic Director. She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville. She had served as an Elder of the Church, a Sunday school teacher and very involved in the “Logos Youth Program” of the church. She was also a member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority and the Literary Guild of Greenville. LeNie also enjoyed cooking and was known for her pastries.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Lynne Marie Conley in 1997.

She is survived by her husband LeRoy F. Wilson of Greenville. They were married November 24, 1950. Also by daughter Cynthia L. Larkins (Hans Soltau) of Dayton, son Gregory A. Wilson (Bonnie Bodnar) of Columbus, Ohio, grandchildren Nathan Mac Kendrick (Emily), Nicholas Larkins (Ann-Sofie), Benjamin Larkins (Brooke), Brette Wilson, Greta Wilson, Amanda Conley and Lauren Conley. Also surviving are 4 great grandchildren, brother Robert (Marge) Wieck of Beatrice, Neb., sisters Berdina Strayer of Hastings, Neb., and Barbara (Orville) Himmelberg of Friend, Neb., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday June 22, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church 114 E. 4th Street Greenville, Ohio with the Rev. Dr. John Person officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 till 8 P.M. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio.

Treva May (Mathis) Hockett age 84 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 1:45 A.M. on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at her residence. Treva was born April 20, 1926 in Dayton, Ohio. She was raised by the late George & Jane Hoffman.


Treva was retired from General Motors. She attended Fort Jefferson United Methodist Church and was a member of many organizations in the area. She loved bowling and golfing.

Treva is also preceded in death by her husband: Russ J. Hockett, first husband James Mathis, and a daughter in law Vicki Mathis.

Treva is survived by Fiancé Ralph Watson of Wayne Lakes, sons & daughters-in law Curtis & Linda Mathis of Columbus, Ohio, Micheal & Pam Mathis of Greenville, David Mathis of Greenville, daughters & sons in law: Janie Brown, Viola & Kim Gilbert, Dee Diehl & Friend Charlie Goodpastor all of Greenville, 21 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren .

Princess Iola (Prichard) Echeman age 77 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 2:57 P.M. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. Princess was born October 22, 1932 in Van Wert, Ohio, to the late Charles & Flossie (Miller) Prichard.


Princess was a homemaker (Mom), her greatest joys in life evolved around family and friends. She was a member of Versailles Christian Church and the Versailles Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She will be forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, Rest in Peace Sweet Princess.

In addition to her parents, Princess is also preceded in death by her brothers, James, Homer, Ned, Charles and Max Prichard; and sisters, Betty Prichard, Olive Cashel, Sylvia Thatcher and Alice Imler.

Elizabeth “Liz” Snider, age 46 of Hilliard, Ohio passed away Sunday June 13, 2010 at her residence following a courageous 6 month battle with Triple-negative Breast Cancer.

Liz is the wife of Michael K. Snider of Hilliard and formerly of Greenville, Ohio and the daughter in law of Roger and Judy (Zechar) Snider of Greenville.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Sunday June 20th from 4 PM until 7 PM at the Columbus Museum of Art, 480 East Broad Street Columbus, Ohio where Liz and Michael were married 10 years ago.

Denzel Lee Cremeans, age 76 of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 10:59 AM at his residence. He was born on April 9, 1934 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late David & Vercia (Smith) Cremeans.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 4 brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years Melissa (Engelken) Cremeans of Cincinnati, Ohio; children, Denzel Mark Cremeans, Bonita Blair, Madena Blair, Lance Martin and Candi Martin; son in law, Tony Sanders; daughter in law, Debbie Cremeans; grandchildren, Travis, Gretchen, Zach, Alex, Alexis, Kyle, Anthony, Chase, Arianna and Chandler; great grandchildren, Brooke, Alexandra, Gabe, Bradly and Kaine; mother in law, Edna Marie Engelken; sister in law and brother in law, Teresa & Dan Staab; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

There will be a service held on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Chaplain Gary R. Kirchoff officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Charles R. “Dick” Brandon, age 80 of Versailles, Ohio passed away on Friday June 11, 2010 at 8:05 PM at the Versailles Health Care Center. He was born October 2, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio the son of the late Charles & Hazel (Stoner) Brandon.

He worked for the City of Versailles in the Water Department and served in the United States Army National Guard in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Versailles Christian Church.

Lester E. Lehmkuhl (June 9, 2010)

Lester E. Lehmkuhl, age 84 of Versailles, Ohio passed away on June 9, 2010 at his residence. He was born on July 12, 1925 in Minster, Ohio, the son of the late Harry G. and Cecilia B. (Daniel) Lehmkuhl.

Lester married Elizabeth J. (Barga) Goubeaux on August 4, 1960. She preceded him in death on April 7, 2008.

He is survived by four children and spouses: Victoria and Eugene Cordonnier of Russia, Ohio, Catherine and Angelo Vaughn of Fort Myers, Florida, Steven and Jacqui Lehmkuhl of Tipp City, Ohio, Amy and Vernon Ahrns of Fort Loramie, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; Brothers: Robert L. Lehmkuhl of Minster, Ohio, Alfred F. Lehmkuhl of Bellevue, Ohio, Sisters: Mary Lou Sweida of San Pedro, California, and Sr. Ann Catherine of Englewood, Ohio.

In July 1943, Lester graduated from Minster High School and went to work on the family farm. He was called to serve our nation in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946. After his honorable discharge, he attended The Ohio State University from 1946 to 1949, graduating with a BS degree in Poultry Husbandry. He was hired by Swift and Company and worked in their poultry division from 1949 to 1953 in Muscatine, Iowa and then in Montevideo, Minnesota. His career advanced when he was offered a management position with Southern Ohio Egg Producers in Nelsonville, Ohio. He held this position from 1953 to 1958 and under his supervision; a state of the art egg processing plant was planned and built in Somerset, Ohio.

Once this project was completed, Lester accepted the position as manager of the Poultry Processing Division in Versailles, Ohio in 1958. The operation thrived under his guidance and supervision and he stayed with this facility until 1970 when he retired from private industry to take up farming. He, along with his brothers, operated Lakeview Poultry Farms in Minster, Ohio. They raised beef cattle, hogs, sheep, laying hens, and maintained crops of corn, soybeans, and hay. Lester retired from farming in 1987.

Lester was a member of St. Denis and Holy Family Catholic Churches and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 50 years. Over the years, he was a member and past president of the Versailles, Ohio, Lions Club, a member and past president of the Somerset, Ohio Rotary Club, a member and past president of Nelsonville, Ohio, Kiwanis Club and a member and past president of the Federated Egg and Poultry Sales organization. He also sat on the Board of Zoning Appeals in Versailles.

Lester donated his body to the Wright State University anatomical gift program. A Catholic Memorial Mass will be held on June 19th 2010, at 10:30 A.M. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Newport, Ohio with celebrant Rev. Fr. Steven Shoup and con-celebrant Rev. Fr. Kenneth Baker. Family will receive visitors from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at the church before Mass. Arrangements are being handled by Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Shelby County or Carthagena Seminary for Masses in Lester’s name.

Charles L. Weidner (June 12, 2010)

Charles L. "Chuck" Weidner, 82, of Arcanum, died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Brethren Retirement Community. Mr. Weidner was born in Dayton on July 20, 1927, the son of the late Carl E. and Lulu (Wright) Weidner. Chuck was a 1945 graduate of Arcanum High School. Attended the Dayton Art Institute several years. He sang with numerous Chorus groups and Barber Shop Quartets. Chuck was a retired foreman at the GM Moraine Plant. In retirement he was a golf ranger and avid golfer at Beechwood Golf Course. Mr. Weidner was a U.S. Navy veteran in WW II. He was preceded in death by three brothers Harold, Gary, and Infant Weidner and two sisters Mary Hecathorn and Rose Moore. Chuck is survived by his wife Mary Elane (O'Dell) Weidner, whom he married February 9, 1946; children Robert L. Weidner and wife Shari of Centerville, Jennifer L. Barnes and husband Bryan of Greenville, Stephen D. Weidner and wife Tina of Clayton, Denise D. Krugh and husband David of Celina, and Brent A. Weidner and wife Kathy of Greenville; 16 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; and Brother Richard Weidner, of Dayton. Glenna M. Hill (June 10, 2010)

Glenna M. Hill, 79, of Arcanum, died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. Mrs. Hill was born in Wallins Creek, Kentucky on April 20, 1931, the daughter of the late Harvey L. and Lillie D. (Stokes) Kinnard. She was a member of the Castine Church of the Brethren. Glenna was employed for Inland Manufacturing, Vandalia, retiring in 1986. She was preceded in death by her son Kevin Miller, sisters Edna Miller and Nova Shell, brothers W. L. Kinnard, Harvey Kinnard, and William Kinnard Jr and Aunt Velma Rinehart. Glenna is survived by her husband Earl Hill; sons Michael Miller and wife Christy Powell of Xenia and Timothy Miller and wife Lisa of Winston-Salem, NC; step son David L. Hill; step daughter Anita J. McAllister and husband Tom and Sharon K. Hill both of Dayton; 7 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; and Brother Ralph Kinnard of Wadsworth, Ohio. Charles E. Paulus (June 8, 2010)

Charles E. Paulus, age 74 of Russia, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 4:22 AM at Southbrook Care Center, Springfield, Ohio. He was born on December 16, 1935 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Thomas L. & Josephine (Placke) Paulus.

Charles was the owner and operator of Paulus Jewelry in Ft. Loramie, Ohio. He was a member of the United States Army, American Legion in Minster, Ohio, Catholic War Vets in Russia and Knights of Columbus in Russia.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister and brothers in law, Edna & Virg Boeke and Merrill Wyen.

He is survived by his sisters and brothers in law, Elizabeth “Betty” Wyen and husband Thomas Faller of Minster, Ohio, Marie Didier of Versailles, Ohio and Lucy Lange and husband Henry “Dutch” of St. Henry, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia, Ohio with Rev. Fr. Frank Amberger celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Remy Catholic Cemetery. Marjorie Shillingburg (June 7, 2010)

Marjorie Shillingburg, 92, of Dayton, formerly of Westview Dr., Arcanum, died Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Friends Care Community, Yellow Springs. Mrs. Shillingburg was born in Hollansburg, on October 29, 1917, the daughter of the late Chesterfield and Ethel (Addleman) Williams. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Arcanum. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Robert Shillingburg who died March 17, 2001 and 2 sisters Mary Brown and Dorothy Young. She is survived by Daughter Cena Buchannon and husband Willie of Huber Heights; Son Lee Turner and wife Joan of Lakeview; 6 grandchildren Amanda Berlon and husband Scott, Kandy Kirtley, Andrew Turner and wife Sheila, Jeff Turner, Jon Turner, and Warren Turner, Jr.; and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Noon on Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum, with Rev Paul Chastain officiating. Burial will follow in Ithaca Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour before the time of services.

Emma J. Winters (June 7, 2010)

Emma J. Winters, 91 of Greenville, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010 at Wayne Hospital in Greenville.

She was born December 27, 1918 in Piqua, OH, daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (Bowers) Kelley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob John Winters and a sister Mabel Bowers.

Emma was a homemaker and a volunteer at the Brethren Home in Greenville.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Winters and Robert Winters: grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 12, at 10 a.m. , at Castine Cemetery in Castine, OH with Chaplain Bob Bitner officiating.

Ruth E. Bey (June 3, 2001)

Mrs. Ruth E. Bey, age 95 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Versailles passed away at 10:20 P.M. Thursday June 3, 2010 at the Brethren Retirement Community of Greenville, Ohio. She was born April 3, 1915 in North Star, Ohio and the daughter of the late Joseph and Pearl (Neargarder) Mangen.

Ruth was a homemaker and a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Greenville, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband—Louis V. Bey November 15, 1984. Also by a Sister Therisa A. Bey in 2008, Brothers—Chalmer and Orville Mangen and 3 infant brothers and sisters.

Ruth is survived by her son J.J. (Julius) Bey of Greenville. Also grandchildren—Aaron Bey, Brad Bey and Chris Bey. There are 7 great grandchildren, a brother Elmer Mangen of North Star, a sister Lucille Gaier of Piqua, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held a t 10:30 A.M. Monday June 7, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Father John White officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Valbert Cemetery Versailles, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 till 5 P.M. and on Monday from 9 till 10 A.M. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio. There will be prayers recited at 1:30 P.M. Sunday in the funeral home.

Herman LeRoy Neff (June 2, 2010)

Herman LeRoy Neff was born on April 17, 1925 in Darke County, Ohio, to Charles and Margaret (Brosey) Neff. On May 19, 1940, he publicly professed faith in his Lord and savior and was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, to which he remained faithful. He peacefully departed from this life on June 2, 2010, at 7:28 PM to be with the Lord at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 16 days.

Herman met Luella (Bettie) Boze and was united in marriage on June 30, 1945, and enjoyed nearly 65 years of marriage. They began their marriage in Darke County, Ohio, where he was engaged in farming. In February 1977 they moved to Mt. Olive, Mississippi, where he was engaged in upholstering and raising blueberries. His health began to fail, so in April of 2007 they moved back to the Darke County area, where they resided in Greenville, Ohio. They renewed many friendships and made new acquaintances which dad enjoyed immensely. He enjoyed helping people as much as possible with his limited abilities.

Herman’s health again began to fail in April of 2010. He believed in and called for the annointing, from which he received comfort and healing. Bettie tenderly cared for him at home until he was admitted to Greenville hospital where he departed this life.

Surviving is his loving wife, Bettie; three daughters, Cynthia (John) Culp of Halsey, Oregon, Margaret (Verl) Brubaker of Tuolumne, California and Carol (Richard) Milyard of Brookville, Ohio; 8 grandchildren, Crystal and Shobhana Culp, Eric (Laura) Brubaker and Emily (Brian) Root, Nathan, Jason, Laban (Mary) Milyard and Camela (Gary) Bailey; 4 great grandchildren, Brianna and Nicole Brubaker, Brendan and Jadrian Root; brother, Harold Neff of Union City, Indiana; and a sister, Ruby L. Lee of Sandpoint, Idaho; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Esther (Rein) Spille and Evelyn (Clifford) Nasby.

Though we feel a great loss, our loss is his gain, eternal life in heaven, where our heavenly Father has prepared a place for his redeemed children.

There will be a service held on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Oak Grove Old German Baptist Church on Martin Rd. with the Home Brethren officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Old German Baptist Church Cemetery on Clark Station Rd. Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 5, 2010 from 2-4 and 5-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Boyd Bingham Jr., age 67 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday June 2, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 3, 1942 in Bedford, Indiana, the son of the late Boyd & Marie H. (Miller) Bingham Sr.

He worked as a welder and a mechanic. He served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Greenville Moose Lodge, Bass Members Club of Wayne Lakes, Ohio Shooting Association, & the Koon Den.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother: Ronald D. Bingham.

Frances P. Clark (June 2, 2010)

Frances P. (Brawley) Clark, 86, of Eaton passed away on June 2, 2010 at the Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton. Frances was born on September 25, 1923, daughter of the late Earl and LuLu Brawley.

Frances worked as a machinist for Avco in Richmond, Indiana where she retired after several years of employment. She enjoyed watching her soap operas on T.V., gardening, tending to her flowers and helping out around the family farm.

Frances is survived by a step-daughter, Pat Rautsaw; a niece, Jane Brawley; two great-nieces, Kay Johnson and Kathy Brawley.

In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Clark; three brothers, Lee, Don and Lewis Brawley; three sisters, Maxine Emerick, Mildred Fleenor and Era Brawley; and a nephew Paul Brawley.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, June 5, 2010 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. A graveside Celebration of Life in Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton, Ohio will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Kathy Brawley, a great niece of Frances, being asked to officiate.

Norma G. Reed (June 1, 2010)

Norma G. Reed age 94 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 6:54 A.M. on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. Norma was born February 22, 1916 in Russia, Ohio, to the late Wilfred and Jennie (Simon) Goubeaux.

Norma was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, Daughters of Isabella and she was the 1st Honorary Charter member of the Versailles Garden Club.

In addition to her parents, Norma is also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Paul Gasson; 2nd husband, Joseph E. Reed; son, Steven Gasson; sisters, Mary Goubeaux, Alberta Goubeaux and Ursula Overholser; and brother, R.J. Goubeaux.

Norma is survived by her sons, David Gasson of Ft. Loramie and Phil Gasson of Russia; a daughter-in-law, Jody Gasson of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren, Renee Tophan of Memphis Tennessee, Misti Reeves of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Steven Gasson of Memphis, Tennessee; 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Maxine J. Holloway (May 31, 2010)

Mrs. Maxine J. Holloway, age 91 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 6:25 AM at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on August 20, 1918 in Lightsville, Ohio to the late John & Icy (Manuel) Broderick.

Maxine worked at General Athletic for 20 years and was a member of the Bible Fellowship Church. She loved quilting, sewing, flowers and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by first husband, Daniel Gates; second husband, Owen Holloway; great granddaughter, Peggy Monnier; brothers, Walter and Jim Broderick; sister, Gladys Coby.

She is survived by her son, Ralph L. Holloway of Greenville; daughter and son in law, Eloise & Joe Barton of Greenville; grandchildren, JoAnne (Alex) Monnier and Joe P. Barton; great grandchildren, Don Monnier, Mike Monnier, Robert Barton, Krystal Barton and Melissa Barton; great great grandchildren, Kaliegh Thiebeau, Christian Barton, Haylie Barton, Alex Barton and Kayla Washington; sister, Betty Trissell of Michigan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Other family members include sisters, Myrtle Hoffoman and Phyllis Miller.

Ethelyn W. (Barnes) Muladore-Henry age 85 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 4:10 P.M. on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Versailles Health Care Center. Ethelyn (Lynn) was born on August 10, 1924 in Pleasant City, Ohio. She grew up and lived in Wilmington, Ohio until she married Paul Henry on June 26, 1984, she then moved to Versailles.

She is survived by her husband, Paul, and son, Philip Muladore (Jacqueline). She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Houston in 2002. Ethelyn is also survived by grandsons, Stuart Muladore (Kristen), Eric Muladore (Andrea) and Jason Slagle; a granddaughter, Megan Moore; 7 great grandsons; step son, Alan Henry (Jeanie); step daughters, Janie Evers (Don), Donna DeMange (Jim) and was preceded in death by Connie Henry. She was also survived by 8 step grandsons, 3 step granddaughters, 3 step great grandsons and 12 step great granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles, with Pastor Chad Fallis officiating. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:30 until time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or to Donor’s choice.

Doak D. Masters, 80, of rural Arcanum, died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton. He was born in Hilham, TN on May 18, 1930 the son of the late Grover L. and Myrtle McCoy (Flatt) Masters. He was an employee of Inland Manufacturing, retiring 1985. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Doak organized and held the Painter Creek Blue Grass Festival at Roundeye Park, near Painter Creek, for 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge, Greenville, the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, Greenville and the Am Vets of Hillsboro. Preceded in death by Daughter Priscilla A Masters, Son Michael L. Newport, and 2 Brothers Raymond and Carl Masters. Survived by wife Pearl (Newport) Masters, whom he married December 21, 1957; Son Grover D. Masters and wife Elena, of Troy; Daughters Karrie L. Fultz-Masters of Bradford and Dovey F. Ullery and friend Wesley Coffin of Pleasant Hill; Brother Fred Masters and wife Hazel of Cincinnati; Grandchildren Dana Schumaker, Tammy Farmer, Neil Fultz, Kenneth Ullery, Casey Shaner, Michael Lanese, Jacob Fultz, Kristy Ullery, Lindsey Coffin and Jovelene Masters; 15 Great Grandchildren; Nephews Gary and Scott Masters, both of Cincinnati. Graveside Services 11:00 AM, Friday, June 4, 2010 at Newcomer Cemetery. Family will receive relatives and friends Thursday 5 - 8 PM, with Masonic Services starting at 8:00 PM at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum.
