Betty Jean (Warner) Linquist (December 30, 2011)

Betty Jean (Warner) Linquist, age 90, of Troy, Ohio, and formerly of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 5:10 AM at Covington Care Center in Covington, Ohio. She was born on December 21, 1921 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Millard and Ruby (West) Warner.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 57 years Darrel H. Linquist; brothers and sisters in law, Carl & Edith Warner, Chalmer & Imo Jean Warner, and Kenneth Warner; and son in law, Larry Welker.

She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Phyllis Welker Mead and husband Adrain Mead of Bradford, Ohio; grandsons, Brad Welker of Lexington, KY and Ty (Amy) Welker of Troy, Ohio; great grandchildren, Jake Welker, Jordan Welker, Jessie Welker, Maggie Welker, and Luke Welker; brother and sister in law, Noel J. “Jim” & Ruth Warner of Knoxville, TN; sister in law, Betty Warner of Greenville, Ohio; as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends.

She was a member of the West Grove United Church of Christ where she was very active, a Sunday school teacher, and sang in the choir. Recently she attended Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ. She enjoyed working on the farm with Darrel, working in her garden, many crafts, and was especially known for her black raspberry pies. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially enjoyed her great grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

There will be a service held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Craig Showalter and Pastor Terry Haworth co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Miami Memorial Park in Covington, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 2, 2012 from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.

Betty Lou Garland, age 71 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday December 28, 2011 at 4:05 AM at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was born September 15, 1940 in Greenville, Ohio the daughter of the late Winnora (Mendenhall) Rowand.

Treva Jean Arnett (December 23, 2011)

Treva Jean Arnett age 88 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 3:26 A.M. on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Troy Care & Rehabilitation Center in Troy. Treva was born February 18, 1923 in Bradford, Ohio, to the late Daniel & Ethel (Elson) Brewer.

Treva is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Carole & James Otten of Xenia; grandsons, Allan & Jodi Otten of Troy and Tim & Amanda Otten of Kettering; and great grandchildren, Abigail Otten & Elijah Otten of Troy and Jack Otten & Cole Otten of Kettering.

In addition to her parents, Treva is also preceded in death by her husband, John Arnett on October 5, 1962 whom she married on November 8, 1952; brother, Jack Brewer; and a sister, Pauline Marshall.

Treva was a homemaker and also worked for 28 years at General Athletic in Greenville.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Joe Soley officiating. Burial will follow in Stelvideo Cemetery in Darke County. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:30 to 2:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Norma M. Wetzel-Neuman (December 22, 2011)

Norma M. Wetzel-Neuman, 74, of Greenville, passed away Thursday evening, December 22, 2011 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

She was born November 6, 1937 in Greenville, daughter of the late Grover Keihl and Orpha (Ward) Keihl-Elson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert W. "Al" Neuman on April 24, 2002 and her mother, Linda Keihl in 2005.

Norma was retired from Hobart Corp. in Greenville. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 360 in New Paris and a life member of the AmVets in Eldorado.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Patricia) Fritz of Greenville, Jeannie Fritz-Compton of Greenville, David C. (Sheryll) Wetzel of New Madison, Sandra (Wetzel) and Lawrence Clements of Sevierville, TN, Tonja (Wetzel) and Michael Plankenhorn of New Paris, Trudy (Wetzel) and Ron Eastland of Greenville, Linda Wetzel of Phoenix, AZ and Robert D. (Peggy) Wetzel of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Eric, Heather, Brian, Matthew, Patrick, Angela, Eric D., Megan, Mandy, Lawrence, Victoria and Isaac; 13 great-grandchildren, sister, Wanda Williams of Galveston, TX, brothers, James Smith of Union City, OH and Raymond Smith of Greenville, special nieces and nephews and her loving nephew/caregiver, Alan.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 27 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

Harold E. "Butch" Metzcar (December 25, 2011)

Harold E. "Butch" Metzcar, 65, of Ansonia, passed away Sunday morning December 25, 2011 at his residence.

He was born October 19, 1946 in Greenville, son of the late Paul and Virginia (Rickert) Metzcar.

Butch was retired from Miami Industries in Piqua, where he had worked for 17 years. He was a member of the Webster United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Charlotte (Shimp) Metzcar whom he married November 2, 1968; a son, Kevin Metzcar of Ansonia; and a special niece, Susan Robertson of Greenville; brothers-in-law, Jerry Rue of Union City, IN, and Steve Bidwell of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no services. Memorial contributions may be given to offset final expenses.

Carl J. Bey (December 21, 2011)

Carl J. Bey age 82 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 9:44 P.M. on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. Carl was born May 26, 1929 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Clarence D. & Ursina (Gigandet) Bey.

Carl is survived by his wife, Donna Lou (Gower) Bey, whom he married June 27, 1953; sons & daughter-in-law, Dennis & Mary Jo Bey of Troy and Douglas Bey of Chesapeake, Virginia; grandchildren, B.J. Bey and Andrea Bey; brothers & sister-in-law, Jerome & Loretta Bey of Versailles and Wilmer Bey of Versailles; and sisters & brothers-in-law, Thelma & Mark Jutte of Ft. Recovery and Marlene & Les McCullough of Greenville.

In addition to his parents, Carl is also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Lennartz; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Bey.

Carl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Carl Subler Trucking as a maintenance supervisor for 30 years. Carl also worked at Munson Transportation; retired from Heartland Express in 1996 and then later worked at Eugene Meyer Trucking. Carl was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles. He was a Golden Eagle member of the Versailles Eagles Aerie 2347. Carl was an avid hunter, he especially enjoyed deer hunting.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Fr. John White officiating. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. Jack Darrell Hemp (December 21, 2011)

Jack Darrell Hemp age 77 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 12:27 P.M. on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Gade Health Care Center in Greenville. Jack was born September 10, 1934 in Clay Township, Montgomery County, Ohio, to the late Eldon & Zaida (Busch) Hemp.

Jack is survived by his wife, Rosalie (Stewart) Hemp; sister & brother-in-law, Zaida & Richard Morgan of Urbana; and a sister-in-law, Marcia Stewart of Dayton.

Jack was a graduate of Brookville High School and a Ham radio operator W8JNH since 1952. Jack was employed at Ledex before entering the U.S. Army stationed at Ft. Knox. Jack was a First Aide Instructor with the Red Cross/Civil Defense, Box 21 Rescue volunteer, employed for 30 years with Montgomery County Sheriffs Department and Health Department. Jack was a life member of Brookville Historical Society, long time Harley owner, member of the Cardinals and Blue Knights.

Jacob Michael Magoto, 2 1/2 year old son of Jamie M. and Amanda S. (Gillespie) Magoto of Greenville, passed away Friday, December 16, 2011 in the Republic of Panama.

Jacob was born July 29, 2009. He was a member of the Greenville Missionary Church where he attended with his family.

Jacob won over the hearts of all he came in touch with. He was blessed with the most loving and caring family and friends.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his brothers and sisters, Tyler, Victoria, and Aubrey Landis all at home and Paige Magoto of Japan; his grandparents, Mike (Rhonda) Magoto of Greenville, Mary Dixon of Arcanum, Jay (Mandy) Gillespie of Sidney, Pamela Gillespie and Dawn Capps of Greenville, and Hazel Mercer of Greenville; great grandmothers, Lova Clark of Greenville, Emma Carpenter, and Georgia Gillespie both of New Carlisle; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 23 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, with Pastor Gary Oser. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

Margery Ellen Henninger, age 89, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 7:45 AM at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville, Ohio. She was born on January 10, 1922 in Oxford, Michigan, to the late George & Maude (Brown) Tryon.

She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Barry & Wanda Henninger of Arcanum, Randy Henninger of Laura, Kevin & Cindy Henninger of Greenville, & Brent & Mary Kay Henninger of Arcanum; daughters and sons in law, Bethany & Ramon Gonzalez of Greenville, Cheryl & Jim Erbaugh of Greenville, Melanie & Greg Perry of Arcanum, Jan & Tom Cyphers of Greenville, and Charlotte Sherman of Greenville; 33 grandchildren; 65 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; sister, Hala Wright of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Henninger; grandsons, Matthew Mancillas, Ramon “Tani” Gonzalez, and Jared M. Finton; brothers, Victor, Robert, Blair, and Richard Tryon.

Margery retired from the Darke County Employment Office in 1982 and then from Corning Glass in 1992. She also worked at the Darke County Council Rural Services. She attended Alma College in Michigan and then went to Edison State in Piqua. She is a member of the Ft. Jefferson United Methodist Church, Toast Masters, and Women’s Society. Margery also was a volunteer for State of the Heart Hospice.

There will be a service held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Mark Lemar officiating. There will be no burial. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service.

Glenn W. Hammaker (December 8, 2011)

Glenn W. Hammaker, 69, of Greenville, passed away December 8, 2011 at his residence.

He was born August 10, 1942 in Dayton, son of the late William Walter and Rose Ann (Pickett) Hammaker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Robert Hammaker.

Glenn worked as a handy man for several years. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during Vietnam.

He is survived by his children, Guy (Donna) Hammaker of Ansonia, Robin L. Hammaker of Greenville, and Gary (Carmen) Hammaker of Ft. Recovery; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, David (Angelic) Hammaker of Florida, and Carl Hammaker of Texas; two sisters, Bonnie Theibeau and Linda Bruns both of Greenville; good friends, Tom (Kathy) Brinkman of Greenville; and his best friend from childhood, Donald Sanders of Troy.

Gravesides services with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, at the Dayton National Cemetery, in Dayton, OH.

There will be no public visitation. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be given to help off set final expenses.

G. Eileen Mendenhall, age 92, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 5:15 PM at the Versailles Health Care Center in Versailles, Ohio. She was born on January 8, 1919 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Herman & Mary Agnes (Schilling) Althoff.

Eileen is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Bill L. & Marilyn Mendenhall of Ludlow Falls, Ohio, and Tom & Janet Mendenhall of Versailles, Ohio; daughter and son in law, Sue & Ted Edmiston of Piqua, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters and brother in law, Ruby Kuckherman, Kathleen Detrick, and Betty & Harold Rhoades all of Troy, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Eileen was a homemaker and a member of the Versailles Christian Church. She loved traveling, playing cards, fishing, making quilts, flower gardening and most of all her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Dwight Mendenhall whom she married on January 7, 1939; son Larry Mendenhall; sisters, Ruth Oliver, Phyllis Althoff, and Evelyn Earhart.

There will be a service held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Versailles Christian Church, 105 West Ward St., Versailles, Ohio, with Pastor Dennis Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio. Waldon “Moon” Spillers (December 13, 2011)

Waldon “Moon” Spillers age 84 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 7:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at his residence. Moon was born September 26, 1927 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Sherman & Clissie (Harman) Spillers.

Moon is survived by his wife, Ida (Cain) Spillers whom he married December 24, 1947; children, Connie Spillers Fogt of Greenville, David Spillers of Versailles and Eileen Spillers Cox & husband, Chris of Greenville; grandchildren, Paula Fogt Knecht, Angela Fogt, Andrea Cox & Chance Cox; great grandchildren, Kalyn Krupke, Brendyn Fogt and Loren Sharp; great great granddaughter, Adalynn Fogt; and sister, Margaret Ditmer of Arkansas.

Moon was formerly a truck mechanic in the Darke County Community and later became the manager of the Darke County Airport. Moon served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Versailles United Methodist Church, EAA Chapter 109 and Warbirds of America.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Rick Gutheil officiating. Byron Herbert “Barney” Roll (December 11, 2011)

Byron Herbert “Barney” Roll, 74, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, OH.

He was born on May 3, 1937, in Brown Township, Darke County, OH, a son of the late Herbert Ellsworth and Sarah Esther (Martin) Roll. He attended school in Ansonia, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Nevin and Gerald M. Roll, and a sister, Roberta Davis.

Barney is survived by his wife, Darlene Ann (Kramer) Roll, whom he married on June 18, 1998, at Camp Bethany Brethren Church Camp near Nashville, Holmes County, OH. He is also survived by daughters, Janie L. (Denny) Overley of Celina, OH and Kay A. Roll of Knoxville, TN; sons, John H. (Chan Stroman) Roll of Madison, WI, and David B. (Melissa) Roll of Leipsic, OH. In addition, he is survived by grandchildren, Jessamyn, James and Veronica Roll, all of Madison, WI, and Katie and Sarah Overley of Celina, OH. A sister, Carolyn Brandon, of Celina, OH, a brother, Dwight (Barbara) Roll, of Punta Gorda, FL, sister-in-law, Dola Roll, of Greenville, OH, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dan (Vicki) Kramer, of Delphos, OH are also surviving along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was retired from CenturyLink (Formerly United Telephone Company of Ohio and associated companies), where he worked for more than 37 years. He was a member of the Stony Creek Church of the Brethren near DeGraff, OH, Lions Clubs International, Ohio Lions District 13-E, Waynesfield Lions Club, Lions International Pin Trading Club, Ohio Lions Pin Traders Club, Fellowship of Brethren Genealogists, National Association of Milk Bottle Collectors, Independent Telecommunications Pioneer Association, Greenville Elks Lodge and was a former member of the Versailles Lions Club and the West Liberty Lions Club. He served in the Ohio National Guard, was a former member of the Rossburg, Ohio Volunteer Fire Department and served a term as the Rossburg Village Mayor.

Barney enjoyed traveling along with his wife and other family members or friends. He visited all 50 states and some foreign countries. He played Santa Claus at various events in the northern Darke County, OH area for many years. Barney had a sense of family roots and liked to dig into family histories. He also enjoyed military history, particularly the Civil War and World War II eras. He was known for his wealth of information about Brethren history and to give classes on Brethren history at Brethren churches in the Logan County, Ohio area. He was currently serving on the Fellowship Committee at Stony Creek Church of the Brethren. From 2000-2001, Barney served as Ohio Lions District 13-E District Governor and had previously served at the club and zone levels as well. He also served on the Ohio Lions Sight & Hearing/Pilot Dogs Committee for several years and was currently serving as District 13-E Pin Chairman and Recycled Eyeglass Collection Chairman. Barney was proud to report that he had delivered more than 250,000 pairs of recycled eyeglasses to Lions International Eyeglass Recycling in Indiana in the past few years. Barney enjoyed Lions “pin swaps” and attended several around the eastern United States each year. In addition, he was an avid milk bottle collector. He liked to hunt, fish and trap and had a particular fondness for trapping snapping turtles, mostly at Fletcher Pond, MI, where he trapped nearly 2,000 pounds of turtles. On Friday evenings during high school football season, Barney and his wife would travel the western portion of the state, supporting MAC high school football teams in what was affectionately called “The Roll Family Game of the Week”. In recent years, he received the most pleasure from being with family and friends and took particular delight in his grandchildren’s activities.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 17th at the Greenville Church of the Brethren, 421 Central Ave., Greenville, OH 45331 with Pastor Wayne Downing and Pastor Lynn Mercer officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 16th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, OH.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Stony Creek Church of the Brethren or Ohio Lions Sight & Hearing projects. In addition, a collection box for recycled eyeglasses will be available at the funeral home.

Guy L. Pearce, 93, of Ithaca, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family at his side on Sunday, December 11, 2011. He was born on November 2, 1918 to the late Joseph and Carrie (Jordan) Pearce.

Guy attended a one room school house in Savona, Butler Middle School, and was a graduate of New Madison Schools in 1936. Guy worked for GM and was a farmer for over 30 years. He later worked for the New Madison Grocery as a bagger in his retirement. Guy enjoyed spending time with family and loved to go out and cut wood. He was a member of the Family of God Ministries in Arcanum. One of Guy's greatest accomplishments was living by his faith.

In addition to his parents, Guy is preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn E. (Marshall) Pearce; a son, Gary Eugene Pearce; a son-in-law, Ron Drew; three brothers, Dewitt, Leo (Runt) and Joseph (Joe Bags); three half brother, Roland (Pete) Byron (Shorty) and Kenneth (Kenny) Pearce.

Guy is survived by his wife, Adith (Fugate) Pearce, whom he married on July 10, 2004; two daughters, LaDonna and Jim Jones of Lincoln, California and Lois Drew of New Madison; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Pearce; ten grandchildren, Penny Jones-Hagenbuch, Timothy and Suzzane Jones, Robby and Pamela Jones, Guy Barry Drew, Dawn and Jack Shepard, Bambi and Maury Burton, David and Jody Pearce, Debbie Pearce, Brenda Pearce-Earls and Karen and Kelly Hunt; one step grandchild Mike and Collen Blankenship; one step great grandchild Derick Blankenship; a brothers, George and Mary Ellen Pearce; and a sister, Virginia Ann and Robert Grim.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 10:00 - 12:00 PM at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM with the Rev. Joe LeMaster being asked to officiate. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery

Sharon R. Sharp (December 8, 2011)

Sharon R. Sharp, age 52 of Briarwood Village, Coldwater, Ohio and formerly of Union City, Ohio, passed away on Thursday December 8, 2011 at 1:36 PM at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, Ohio. She was born March 29, 1959 in Augsburg, Germany the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph & Cleo Alma (Creider) Griffith. Prior to living in the nursing homes she lived in Union City for 2 years having moved there from the Pikeville area. She was a member of Beamsville Christian Church, a graduate of Greenville High School class of 1977, a graduate of Edison State College. A member of the Greenville Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She worked Marsh Supermarket in Greenville for 17 years, and later she worked as a secretary at Rumpke Waste Inc. She had been in failing health since an automobile accident in 1996.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents & her parents.

She is survived by her son & daughter in law: Benjamin L. & Sarah Sharp of Coldwater, Ohio.

Services will be held on Monday December 12, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio with Pastor Steve Short officiating. Burial will follow in Stelvideo Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday December 11, 2011 at the funeral home.

Richard W. Shepherd (December 7, 2011)

Richard W. Shepherd, 89, of Union City, Ohio, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 7, 2011, at the Union City Care Center.

He was born May 10, 1922 in Darke County, son of the late, Grover and Flo (Lundry) Shepherd. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Delma M. (Rodeheffer) Shepherd on February 9, 2005; brothers, Ralph and Lowell Shepherd; and a sister Dorothy Riegle-Wade.

Richard was retired from Union City Mold. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII.

He is survived by a brother, Thomas (Saundra) Shepherd of Ansonia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 10 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Ansonia Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 9:30 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.

George M. Wiles (December 6, 2011)

George M. Wiles, 85, of Englewood, passed away Tuesday morning, December 6, 2011, at his residence.

He was born March 12, 1926 in West Alexandria, OH, son of the late George F. and Mildred Virginia (Miley) Wiles. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Wayne Wiles; and a sister, Jane Marker.

George was a retired First Sergeant from the US Marine Corps, having served for 24 years. He was a survivor of the Chosin Reservoir battle in North Korea. After his military retirement George served as a deputy sheriff for the Palm Beach County Florida Sheriff’s Department. He had also served as a police officer for Royal Palm, Florida. He later worked as a locksmith in the Englewood area.

He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, DAV, Marine Corps League, AmVets, the Korean War Memorial Association, and the Chosin Few.

He is survived by his wife Ruth E. (Sayers) Wiles; a daughter, Dianna (Rodney) Kightlinger of Tuscon, AZ; a grandson, David A. Patterson of Washington, D.C.; and a brother Gerald Wiles of Bradford.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 10, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home , 1000 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH, with Chaplain Steve Wetterhan officiating. Burial with full military honors by the US Marine Corps will follow in the Ansonia Cemetery near Ansonia, OH.

Maureen Saum (December 4, 2011)

Maureen Saum, 70, of Greenville, passed away Sunday morning, December 4, 2011 at Heartland of Greenville.

She was born May 31, 1941 in Skagness, England, daughter of the late Jerimiah Joseph and Marjorie Mary (Clark) Lyons. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Saum; a daughter-in-law Beth Snyder; and a brother, Donavan A. Lyons.
A homemaker, Maureen was a member of the Greenville Women of the Moose.

She is survived by her daughters, Carmen (Jim) Dumas and Carol (Jason) Kunkle both of Greenville; a son, Steven Snyder of Greenville; grandchildren, Heather Skidmore of Cincinnati, Austin Root of Greenville; Cameron Kunkle of Greenville; Stephanie Dayal of San Jose, CA, Stephen Dumas of Greenville, Elizabeth Dumas of Greenville, and Joseph Snyder of Greenville; sisters, Christina (Keith) Brown of Yorkshire, England, and Kathleen Taylor of Nottingham, England; and brothers, Gerald Lyons of Yorkshire, England, and Jefferey Lyons, of South Africa.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 8, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Fr. John White officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Ft. Jefferson.

Agnes B. Francis age 93, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 11:35 A.M. on Monday, December 5, 2011 at Versailles Health Care Center. Agnes was born July 14, 1918 in Shelby County, Ohio, to the late John & Anna (Gaier) Aselage.

Agnes is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Ralph & Beverly Francis of Bellbrook and Richard & Sherry Francis of Versailles; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Viola Dietz of Botkins, Esther Dietz of Botkins, Clarissa Barhorst of Russia and Dorothy Poeppelman of Sidney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Agnes is also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Francis Sr. on June 17, 2000; brothers, Henry, Paul & Bernard Aselage; and sisters, Josephine Doseck, Marie Francis and Hilda Poeppelman.

Agnes was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles.

Doris S. Cerny age 85 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 2:15 P.M. on Friday, December 2, 2011 at her residence. Doris was born December 24, 1925 in Newport, Nebraska, to the late Edward E. & Nellie (Christensan) Stolcpart.

Doris is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Daryl D. Cerny whom she married May 23, 1951; sons & daughters-in-law, Neil & Diane Cerny of Pearland, Texas and David & Julie Cerny of Crawfordsville, Indiana; grandchildren, B.J. & Shelly Terry, Christopher & Shannon Cerny, Jamie & Jason Rozenkranz, Jason Cerny, Jared Wilson, Jeff & Alecia Terry, Melissa & Carlos Ramirez and Robert & Toni Wilson; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Fern Nolles of Clayton, Oklahoma and Gladys Sybrant of Bassett, Nebraska; and a cousin, Lloyd Stolcpart of Bassett, Nebraska.

Barbara L. Buchy, age 72, of Columbus, Ohio and formerly of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 6:59 AM at Willow Brook Christian Home in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on March 19, 1939 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Joseph & Dorothy (Hathaway) Schumeth.

Barbara worked for Greenville National Bank, Fram Corporation, Darke County Courts as well as being a homemaker. She attended Halderman one-room school house in Greenville before graduating from Greenville High School in 1957. Barbara loved gardening, walking, knitting and spending time with friends. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville, Lady Bug Garden Club, Cancer Support Group, Red Hat Club, Silver Sneakers, and E-Z Journey Travel Group.

Barbara is survived by her son and daughters in law, Mark and Elizabeth Buchy of Westerville, Ohio and Brenda Buchy of Worthington, Ohio; grandchildren, Luke Buchy, Liam Buchy, Anna Buchy, and Tara Buchy; sister, JoAnn Altic of Greenville.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her son, Todd Buchy.

Francis Eugene “Gene” Ford, age 83 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 10:17 A.M. Sunday November 27, 2011 at his residence. Gene was born October 11, 1928 in Darke County Ohio and the son of the late Hershel “Jack” Ford and Marie (Jenkinson) Overholser.

Gene was retired from Hobart Brothers of Troy, Ohio. He was a Lifetime member of the Tri-State Tractor and Engine Assoc.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Reva Lou (Cain) Ford; second wife Iona Marie (Rinard) Ford; son Rodney Ford, infant daughter Martha Lee Ford, brothers Bob and Tom Ford and Sister Jackie Balfour.

Clarabel K. Price, 89, of Grenville, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 27, 2011 at her residence.

She was born June 4, 1922 in the Rossburg area, daughter of the late William and Mary (Hathaway) Lambert. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony A. “Tony” Price on June 21, 1988; a son, Roy; and a sister, Pearl Cox.

Clarabel was retired from the former Corning Glass in Greenville where she had worked for 26 years. She was a member of the Greenville VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Marion (Shirley) Price of Rockford, OH, Arthur (Joyce) Price of Piqua, and Betty L. Thompson of Greenville; grandchildren, Kimberly (Carl Jr) Green, Scott (Kelli) Price; Chad Price, Jeremy (Fiance, Heidi Warner) Price, Andrew Adams, Jennifer (Justin) Howard, Brian (Rachel) Price, and Emily Turner; great grandchildren, Jorden and Dylen Price, Carl III, Alexander, Rachel, Logan, and Jaden Green, Chassica, Thomas, Johneth, Connor, Cooper, Brayden and Kaitlyn Price; and a sister, Thelma Barga of Greenville.

Ethel Maurine Pontius, 84, of Greenville, passed away on Saturday, November 26, at Wayne HealthCare. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Albert J. Pontius; son Richard A. (Sharon) Pontius of Columbus; daughter Carol J. Pontius of Dayton; grandchildren Dana and Lisa Pontius of Columbus; sisters Madeline Meyers of Brookville and Janet (Ivy) Iversen of Raleigh; brother Leonard A. (Carol) Smith of Raleigh; sister in law Virginia Evans in the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman, Ohio; nephews Kurt Meyers of West Milton, Jeff Meyers of Brookville, Larry Iversen of Vancouver and David Iversen of Raleigh.

Ethel was born at Chatham, Ohio in 1927 to her parents Rev. Leonard E. and Edna Smith. She graduated from Doylestown, Ohio High School in 1945, and married Albert in 1949. She worked at the BF Goodrich Co. in Akron, Ohio in public relations. They moved to Greenville in 1965. She graduated from Edison State Community College in 1983, and was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church and its Choir.

There will be a service held on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Dr. John Person officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery New Section. Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.

Lowell E. Hamilton (November 25, 2011)

Lowell E. Hamilton, 94, of Greenville, passed away early Friday morning, November 25, 2011 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.

He was born July 27, 1917 in Anderson, Indiana, son of the late Ira and Grace (Williamson) Hamilton.

Lowell had owned and operated Hamilton Motors in Greenville for 62 years. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge #143, the VFW Post 7262, and the American Legion Post 140.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Nordaker); sons, Lynn (Tennessie) Hamilton, Monty (Nancy) Hamilton, and Randy (Marceena) Hamilton; grandchildren, Vincent Hamilton, Jacqueline (Marne) Palmani, Katie (Tim) Pol, Matt (Stephanie) Hamilton, Kelly (Jim) Otis, Krista Hamilton, Ryan (Brooke) Hamilton, and Lori (Josh) Sharp; 7 great grandchildren.

Paul E. Branson (November 25, 2011)

Paul E. Branson, 85, of New Madison passed away peacefully on November 25, 2011 at Heartland of Greenville. Paul was born on September 18, 1926 in Darke County, Ohio to the late John & Esther (Phillips) Branson.

Paul was a 1944 graduate of Hollansburg High School. He worked for AVCO for over 30 years and later retired from Corning. Paul also worked as a farmer his whole life. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. His passions in life were farming, gardening, wood working and making furniture. Paul was a member of the Beech Grove Church of the Brethren.

In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his brother, John H. Branson, Jr. and an infant sister.

Paul is survived by his wife, Veeda (Brock) Branson; two sons, Mark and Jean Branson of Greenville and Tim and Sheryl Branson of New Madison; five grandchildren, Jessica Branson of Greenville, Lindsey and Nathan Beatty of Union City, Stephanie Branson of Winchester, Kylie and Seth Graham of Greenville and Leslie Branson of Columbus; and a brother, Clifford and Mary Alice Branson of Nebraska.

Mary Ann Nease (November 24, 2011)

Mary Ann Nease, 91, of Greenville and formerly of Ansonia, passed away early Thursday morning, November 24, 2011 at the Clare Bridge Cottage of Sterling House in Greenville.

She was born October 8, 2920 in Darke County, daughter of the late Ira Elmer and Myrtle (Freemuth) Riegle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Hap" Nease on August 3, 2002; a sister, Maida Norris; and a niece, Lisa R. Norris.

Mary Ann had worked at JC Penny's, raised chickens and belonged to Nature Trail. She took pride in her dogs, birds and loved to bowl and golf.

Carl E. Byers (November 19, 2011)

Carl E. Byers, 58, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2011 at his home. Carl was born in Piqua on July 7, 1958 to the late Charles & Mary (Thompson) Byers.

Carl worked as a tree trimmer for Fitzwater Tree Services in Greenville. He loved Fishing, Harley Davidson motorcycles and collecting Indian Hems.

In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by a sister, Jenny Byerly.

Carl is survived by four daughters, Jessica and Kyle Ruse of Greenville, Angie and jason Herron of Covington, Sherri and Jerry Fry of Bradford and Shelly and Jacob Lear of Gettysburg; four brothers, Charles and Pam Byers of Gettysburg, Tim Byers Sr. of Troy, David Byers Sr. of Bradford and Robert Byers of Versailles; three sisters, Sandi Worley of Greenville, Mark York of Florida and Dorothy and jamie Marker of Greenville; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

David L. Oliver, 61, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, November 20, 2011 at his residence.

Dave was born in Greenville on December 13, 1949. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael and a sister, Sharon.

He worked at F & P America in Troy. He had driven trucks for Dick Lavy Trucking and various others for several years. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Eagles, and Moose all of Greenville.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Bebout)Oliver; sons, Chad (Erin) Oliver of Canton, OH, and Heath (Hillary) Oliver of Mooresville, NC; step children, Joshua (Emily) Bricker of Delaware, OH, and Jennifer Bricker of Marietta, GA; and grandchildren, Sam, Ben, Kate, Madison, and Abigail.

Services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 26 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

Anthony was a sophomore at Franklin Monroe High School. He was a member of the FFA and loved build things with his hands. Anthony had a passion for animals and loved all kinds.

Lowell Everett Jobes (November 17, 2011)

Lowell Everett Jobes, 94, of Greenville, passed away peacefully late Thursday evening, November 17, 2011 at the Versailles Health Care Center, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 22, 1917 in Darke County. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Opal F. (Taylor) Jobes in 1975; two sons, Jay and Jim Jobes; a daughter, Shirley Anderson; brothers, Franklin Valentine and Richard Valentine; and A sister, Ruby Martin.

He was retired from GM in Dayton where he had worked for 30 years. He was an avid woodworker and loved to travel. During WWII he was with a crew that delivered planes all over the world for the government. He was a member of UAW Local 801.

He is survived by his second wife, Geraldine (Schultz) Overholser-Jobes; daughters, Carolyn Jobes of Greenville and Sally (Thomas) Howe of troy; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a sister Glenna (Lowell) Hoff of Gettysburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, November 21, at the Oliver-Floyd funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. John McRoberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery.

Richard J. “Dick” Manix, age 68, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 2:33 AM at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on October 16, 1943 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Raymond M. Manix and Mary (Seybert) Manix Marker.

Dick worked at Ansonia Lumber as a Draftsman for 30 years. He was a member of the Army Reserve, Elks Lodge, American Legion in Ansonia, Ohio, and St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Mary Donna Manix; step father, George Marker; and brother, Michael R. Manix.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years Brenda (Fawbush Rearick) Manix of Greenville, Ohio, whom he married on June 27, 1987; children and spouses, Rawley E. & Jennifer Rearick of Greenville, Ohio, and their children Koralyn and Grayson Rearick, Marie & Gary Meadows of Hinton, West Virginia, David Neargardner of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Jeanette & Robert Leas of Greenville, Ohio; sisters and brother in law, Paula Haworth of Bonita Springs, Florida and Kathy & Craig Redett of Sarasota, Florida; sister in law, Margaret Manix of Greenville, Ohio; as well as numerous step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

June L. Booker, 90, of Greenville, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 17, 2011 at Heartland of Greenville.

She was born June 21, 1921 in Palestine, daughter of the late Fred L. and Blanche M. (Mosier) Hiatt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Clark, and a brother, Verle Hiatt.

June was a 1939 graduate of Palestine High School. She had worked for several years at the Darke County Auditor’s Office and after retirement volunteered for the Wayne Hospital Auxiliary for several more years. She was a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church in Greenville and the VFW Auxiliary also in Greenville.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald Booker, whom she married September 14, 1946; a daughter, Debby (Richard) Sodders of Greenville; a son, Craig A. (Ginger) Booker of Ft. Wayne, IN; grandsons, Josh and Ben Booker; a great grandson, Hayden Booker: a step granddaughter, Amy Sampier; 2 step great grandchildren, Morgan and Brooke Sampier; and 3 nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, November 21, at the Trinity Wesleyan Church with Pastor’s Robert Boyd and Joe Payne co-officiating. Private burial will take place in the Greenville Cemetery.

He retired from Francis Manufacturing in Russia and he was a professional groundskeeper at Stillwater Valley Golf Course.

He served in the United States Army in the Korean War. He was a 50 year member of the Versailles Eagles # 2347, a member of the Vets Club of Versailles, Amvets of Covington.

Mildred C. Scammahorn, age 97, of Bradford, Ohio, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 1:55 PM at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio. She was born on October 29, 1914 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Beecher & Emelie (Root) Williamson.

Mildred was a homemaker and also worked at Hannah’s Garden Center, a bookkeeper for S & L Farm Services, and Warner’s Potato Farm. She was a member of the Laura Christian Church, a 52 year member of the American Legion unit 245 in New Madison, Ohio and former member of the American Legion unit 672 in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, where she was the former president of the ladies auxiliary. Mildred was a 1933 graduate of Franklin High School.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Scammahorn whom she married on November 14, 1942.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Ron & Kay Scammahorn of Arcanum, Ohio; daughter and son in law, Karyl & Larry Eubanks of New Paris, Ohio; grandchildren, Ronda Scammahorn, Adam Scammahorn, Aaron (Roseanne) Scammahorn, and Heather (Randy) Tegtmeier; great grandchildren, Cody, Brock, and Kade Tegtmeier; sister, Margaret Hocker of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

James O. "Jim" Young, 73, of Greenville, passed away Monday morning, November 14, 2011 at his residence.

He was born in Union City, OH, son of the late Clarence O. and Marie (Erwin) Young. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Young.

Jim was a veteran of the US Army. He was retired from Anchor Hocking Glass in Winchester, IN where he had worked for over 33 years. He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church near Union City.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen J. Joan D. Pence, age 80, of Greenville, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, on November 14, 2011 at 9:45 AM at her residence after an extended illness.

Joan was born on January 12, 1931, in Montezuma, Ohio, to the late Richard and Ruth (Hinders) Klosterman. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth L. Pence, whom she married on April 24, 1954. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society; she was a homemaker, and a wonderful wife and loving mother. Joan also was a telephone operator at the Untied Phone Company in Greenville and was a 1949 graduate of Jackson High School, Darke County, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by five brothers; Clyde, Virgil, Thomas, Jerry, and Robert Klosterman; one sister, Virginia Henderson; granddaughter, Hannah Pence; sisters in law, Evelyn (Pence) Elliott and Gale (Swabb) Pence; two brothers in law, George Henderson and Robert Koger.

Brian had spent most his adult life working as a painter for various painting contractors.

Manford “Mick” Smith Jr. age 68 of Greenville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord at 12:02 A.M. on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Mick was born May 14, 1943 in Richmond, Indiana, to the late Manford Sr. & Thelma (Gilliland) Smith.

Mick retired from Evenflo in Piqua. He was a member of Castine Church of the Brethren.

In addition to his parents, Mick is also preceded in death by a brother, James Smith.

Mary M. Denny (November 10, 2011)

Mary M. Denny, age 83, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton, Ohio. She was born on August 28, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Oliver & Alice (English) Swank.

Mary was a homemaker and a member of the Greenville Missionary Church and TOPS.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her son, Donald A. Denny; daughter, Audrey S. Reynolds; 4 brothers and 1 sister.

She is survived by her husband, Roy R. Denny of Greenville, Ohio, whom she married on September 17, 1945; sons and daughters in law, Sam & Laurie Denny of New Lebanon, Ohio, Tom Denny of Union City, Ohio, Roy & Beverly Denny of Dayton, Ohio, and Tony & Debbie Denny of West Carrolton, Ohio; daughters and son in law, Carol West of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Connie & Bill Cook of Greenville, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 7:00 PM at the Greenville Missionary Church, 1110 North Broadway, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Mary L. Rihm (November 10, 2011)

Mary L. Rihm age 81 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 4:04 P.M. on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at her residence. Mary was born March 27, 1930 in Sidney, Ohio, to the late Ralph L. & Lena M. (Schmidt) Good.

Mary was a homemaker and a seamstress at Airway Fashions in Dayton for her brother-in-law. Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville; a member for over 30 years of Royal Neighbors of America and volunteered at Wayne Hospital for 15 years.

In addition to her parents, Mary is also preceded in death by her husband, William C. Rihm whom she married on November 27, 1948; son, Michael Rihm; sisters, Alreda Kammer and Shirley Denlinger; and a step sister, Bonnie Moore.

Mary is survived by her children, Douglas & Joyce Rihm of New Carlisle and Roxann & Dan Leeper of Greenville; daughter-in-law, Connie Rihm of Greenville; 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; brothers & sisters, Jack L. & Carol Good of Rossburg, Iris & Ron Bennett of Verona, Barbara Heck of Greenville, Marie & Gene Reiman of Rossburg and Ronald & Pat Thwaits of Ansonia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Fr. John White celebrant. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Beth Ann Snyder (November 10, 2011)

Beth Ann Snyder, age 56, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 1:06 PM at her residence. She was born on July 20, 1955 in Greenville, Ohio, to Charles R. Lavey of Greenville, Ohio, and the late Janet (Hart) Lavey.

Beth was a housewife. She is survived by her husband Steve Snyder of Greenville, whom she married on February 17, 2005; son, Joe Snyder of Greenville, brother and sister in law, Brian & Lisa Lavey of Bradford, Ohio; sister and brother in law, Brenda & Ray Jacomet of Piqua, Ohio; nieces and nephew, John Fike III, Joy Sharp, and Alysha Lavey.

In addition to her mother she is preceded in death by her grandparents, Harold Hart and Raymond and Susie Lavey.

There will be a service held on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Burial will follow in the Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 2-4 PM at the funeral home.

Timothy D. Hess (November 7, 2011)

Timothy D. Hess, 32, of Greenville, passed away Monday November 7, 2011.

He was born November 13, 1978 in Greenville, the son of Rickie l. and Phyllis (Peters) Hess of Greenville.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children,Gavin Leppert, Leland Hess, Makayla Hess, Mackenzie Hess, and Rylie Hess all of Greenville; and a brother, Rickie L. Hess, Jr. of Greenville.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, November 12 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Jeanne E. Perreira (November 9, 2011)

Jeanne E. Perreira, 65, of Greenville, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday evening, November 9, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.

She was born December 6, 1945 in Traverse City, Michigan, daughter of the late Ralph E. and Elizabeth "Beth" (Setterbo) Hartle.

Jeanne had spent several years working at the Darke County Board of elections and in the Greenville City Auditors office. She was a member of the Pleasant View Missionary Church. Enjoyed doing charitable work and serving the Lord.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Louis L. Perreira, whom she married December 21, 1968; her children, Matt (Stephanie) Perreira of Englewood, Jody Perreira of Englewood, and Nic (Shawna) Perreira of Greenville; grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, Cade, Brooke, Luke, and Nathan; a sister, Judy (Steve) Hart of Lancaster, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, November 13 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Rob Dauber officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2-5 p.m. The family requests that in Lieu of flowers memorial contributions be given to either the Brethren's Home Resident Aid fund or Gideon's International.

Rick Brown (November 9, 2011)

Rick Brown age 62 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 2:40 P.M. on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Rick was born January 3, 1949 in Greenville, Ohio, to Betty (Eley) Brown of Ansonia and the late Robert Brown.

Rick was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church in Greenville.

In addition to his father, Rick is also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Paul & Tim Brown.

In addition to his mother, Rick is survived by his wife, Cindy (Weybright) Brown whom he married October 29, 1971; his children, Irene (Brown) Potter of Piqua and Walter & Heather Brown of Greenville; grandchildren, Elizabeth Potter, Joshua Potter, Kiara Brown and Isaac Brown; and brothers & sister, Frank & Linda Brown of Greenville, Judy Kahlig of Burkettsville and Steven & Roberta Brown of Greenville.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Norman Cole and Pastor Bill Edwards officiating. Joan M. Dabe age 73 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 10:11 P.M. on Monday, November 7, 2011. Joan was born August 28, 1938 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Clarence Sr. & Margaret (Treon) Martino.

In addition to her parents, Joan is also preceded in death by her husband, W. Richard “Dick” Dabe on January 8, 1998 whom she married September 15, 1956.

Joan is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Vicki & Paul Neff of New Weston; sons & daughters-in-law, Thomas & Deborah Dabe of Versailles, Jeffrey & Sherry Dabe of Versailles and Gregory & Patricia Dabe of Versailles; grandchildren, Brandy Dabe, Brittany Dabe, Melinda Dabe & Storm Phenis, Erin & Randy Groff, Michelle & Doug Gordon, Derek Neff, Krista Dabe, Michael & Cassie Dabe, Sarah & Eric Welch and Matthew Dabe; 10 great grandchildren, brother, Clarence Martino Jr. of Troy; sisters & brothers-in-law, Alice & Roger Oliver of Versailles, Donna Bonifield of Rossburg, Kate Fullenkamp of Coldwater, June & Larry Singer of Lewisburg, Jeannie & Brad Miller of Gettysburg, Bonnie & Bob Frantz of Versailles, Roberta Boney of Greenville and Cindy & Joe DeMange of Versailles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dean Clifford Rohrer (November 5, 2011)

Dean Clifford Rohrer was born on September 18, 1925 in Jefferson, North Carolina to Ferdie and Pearl (Neal) Rohrer. He married Mary Kay Diehl on July 20, 1947. Dean went home to be with Jesus on November 5, 2011 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ferdie and Pearl Rohrer, wife, Mary Kay Rohrer, brother, Glenn Rohrer and granddaughter, Cassandra Rohrer.

He is survived by three sisters, Janette and Bob Gary of Maitland, Florida, Eula Brumbaugh of Elgin Illinois, and Clyda Patton of Winter Park Florida; four sons, Doug and Karen Rohrer of Bowling Green Kentucky, Steve and Sue Rohrer of Tbilisi in the Republic of Georgia, Tim and Kathy Rohrer of West Plains, Missouri, and Phil and Jeanie Rohrer of Mountain View, Missouri; seven grandchildren and one foster grandchild; and three great grandchildren.

Dean enjoyed serving the Lord in various ways throughout his life. He was a participant in the Seagoing Cowboys and went to Greece in 1945 and Poland in 1946. Immediately after his marriage to Mary Kay, they served two years in Brethren Volunteer Service in Puerto Rico. He also participated in four mission trips to the Dominican Republic and one trip to Mexico.

Dean graduated from Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana and obtained a Master’s of Divinity from Bethany Seminary in Chicago, Illinois.

Dean pastored seven Church of the Brethren churches located in; Shepherd, Michigan, Columbiana, Ohio, Springfield, Ohio, New Paris, Indiana, Peace Valley, Missouri, Clay County Church of the Brethren, Florida, and Union Grove in Muncie, Indiana. He retired from the pastorate in 1992. Dean and Mary Kay retired to Chestnut Village at the Brethren Retirement Community in 1998 where Dean lived with Mary until her death in 2007. Dean continued to live in the cottage until the spring of 2011 when he moved to the Brethren Retirement Home, fourth floor, due to health concerns with ALS.

His family cherishes the memories of his constant love for them, which was rooted in his faithful love for Jesus.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 8, at the Greenville Church of the Brethren with Pastor Ron Sherck officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Bear Creek Cemetery near Trotwood, OH.

The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral home in Greenville, Monday from 6:30 p.m. till 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wednesday Night Ministry which is mission work among local community children and youth at the Greenville Church of the Brethren.
