Waldon “Moon” Spillers (December 13, 2011)

Waldon “Moon” Spillers age 84 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 7:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at his residence. Moon was born September 26, 1927 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Sherman & Clissie (Harman) Spillers.

Moon is survived by his wife, Ida (Cain) Spillers whom he married December 24, 1947; children, Connie Spillers Fogt of Greenville, David Spillers of Versailles and Eileen Spillers Cox & husband, Chris of Greenville; grandchildren, Paula Fogt Knecht, Angela Fogt, Andrea Cox & Chance Cox; great grandchildren, Kalyn Krupke, Brendyn Fogt and Loren Sharp; great great granddaughter, Adalynn Fogt; and sister, Margaret Ditmer of Arkansas.

Moon was formerly a truck mechanic in the Darke County Community and later became the manager of the Darke County Airport. Moon served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Versailles United Methodist Church, EAA Chapter 109 and Warbirds of America.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Rick Gutheil officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice or Versailles United Methodist Church.
