Donna Elizabeth (Harter) Plessinger (January 29, 2013)

Donna Elizabeth (Harter) Plessinger of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday January 29, 2013 at Grace Brethren Village Englewood, Ohio. Donna was born on April 9, 1919 to Chester and Esther (Stephens) Harter.

She was married to Ralph Thomas Plessinger (Deceased), Greenville, Ohio for 65 years.

Donna was the beloved mother of Ronda Plessinger Warren (Jack), the late Ronald Thomas Plessinger (Alana Blackburn), and Mark Alan Plessinger. She was the dear grandmother of Kara Plessinger Jenkins (Joshua), Alexander Plessinger, Kelly Plessinger and Matthew Plessinger and the proud great grandmother of triplets Avery, Colby and Zachary Jenkins.

Donna was a member of the Greenville Church of the Brethren (organist for many years), Order of the Eastern Star, Darke County Center for the Arts, Greenville Musical Club and taught private piano lessons for many many years.

The Family will receive friends on Friday February 1, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with the Order of the Eastern Star conducting a Memorial Service at 6:45 P.M.

Private Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Greenville Cemetery with Pastor Ron Sherck officiating.

Roger L. Thobe (January 29, 2013)

Roger L. Thobe, age 67, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Wayne HealthCare Center in Greenville, Ohio. He was born on June 22, 1945 in Versailles, Ohio, to the late Eugene & Mildred (Barga) Thobe.

Roger is survived by his wife of 46 years Delores “Dee” (Hartzell) Thobe of Greenville, Ohio; sons, Shawn J. (Connie) Thobe of Greenville, James M. Thobe of Greenville, Josh Thobe of Florida, and Justin (Kelly) Thobe of Greenville; daughters, Elizabeth (Nickie) Thobe and Ashlee Thobe both of Greenville; 7 grandchildren; sisters, Betty Ann Puckitte and Norma Hall both of Celina, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Richard Thobe and sister Janet Orick.

Roger was a farmer and also worked at the Union City Body Shop.

There will be a private service held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Agnes D. (Kramer) Knapke, age 88, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 4:45 PM at the Versailles Health Care Center. She was born on March 7, 1924 in Chickasaw, Ohio, to the late Henry & Rosa (Holdheide) Kramer.

Agnes is survived by her children and their spouses, Virgil (Kathy) Knapke of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mike (Phyllis) Knapke of Louisville, Kentucky, Steve (Lois) Knapke of Yorkshire, Ohio, Jerry (Sheila) Knapke of Troy, Ohio, Judy (Craig) Owen of Dayton, Ohio, Marvin (Sue) Knapke, Joe (Sue Ann) Knapke, Rosie Subler, Irene (Dave) Stonebraker, Kathy Wood, Marlene (Steve) Schlater all of Versailles, Ohio; 30 Grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters in law, Albin (Lucy) Kramer of Maria Stein, Ohio; Norbert Kramer of Chickasaw, Ohio; and Andrew (Ellen) Kramer of Chickasaw, Ohio; sister and brother in law, Mary Ann Overman of St. Mary’s, Ohio; sisters in law, Rose Kramer of New Bremen, Ohio and Lucille Kramer of Celina, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Agnes is preceded in death by her husband Elmer J. Knapke whom she married on November 22, 1945; sons in law, Jack Wood and Larry Subler; brothers Othmar Kramer, Leon Kramer and Werner Kramer; sisters Freda Kramer and Helen Connolly; sister in infancy Hilda Kramer; sisters in law Alice Kramer and Marilyn Kramer; brothers in law, Charles Connolly, Gene Overman and Roman Severt;.

Agnes was a homemaker and a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and volunteered at the Versailles Health Care Center for many years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. Eugene F. Vonderhaar celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 3-8 PM and on Saturday from 9-10 AM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. The family will be conducting the Rosary on Friday evening at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

W. Stanley Jones (January 27, 2013)

W. Stanley Jones, 79, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, January 27,2013 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

He was born October 26, 1933 in Jamestown Ohio, son of the late George and Rosie Jones. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lula Belle (Noggle) Jones who passed away September 6, 1999; a son, Wilford S. "Willy" Jones, II; 12 brothers and sisters.

Stanley was a fixture at the cane toss at the Darke County Fair for several.

He is survived by his daughter, Tina M. Spotts of Anderson, IN; grandchildren, Skylar Spotts and Raven Spotts.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with the Pastor Rodney Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The family request the memorial contributions be given to the funeral home to defray the cost.

Mildred O. Heiser (January 26, 2013)

Mildred O. Heiser, 87, of Greenville, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 26, 2013 at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville.

She was born July 17, 1925 in Darke County, daughter of the late Alva L. and Daisy (Anthony) Gibson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Heiser on June 26, 2008, brothers and sisters Alva Allen Gibson, Clyde Emerson Gibson, Charles Eugene Gibson, Maxine Winifred Cruze, Mary Elizabeth Davis and half sisters and half brother Hazel Hittle, Juanita Kohler and Walter Sharp.

A homemaker, Mildred was a member of the Woodington Congregational Christian Church, having attended there for 60 years. She held numerous positions at the church including clerk, treasurer, vacation Bible school director and Sunday school teacher. She was a member and past president of the Women's Christian Missionary Circle.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Terry) Haworth of Ansonia; a son, James (Irma) Heiser of Greenville; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin) List of Ft. Payne, AL, Jason (Kendra) Haworth, Julie Bath, Jeanna York all of Greenville, Greg (Heather) Heiser of Arcanum and Jamie (Jim) Stuckey of Delaware, OH; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson and sister Marcelle Gray of Union City; a brother Clifford (Mabel) Gibson of Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, Greenville with the Revs. Terry Haworth and Jim Fulton co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5-8 p.m and Tuesday 1 hour before the time of services. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Woodington Congregational Christian Church.

Donald E. Wampler (January 23, 2013)

Donald E. Wampler, age 83 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 4:55 P.M. Wednesday January 23, 2013 at Wayne HealthCare Center Greenville, Ohio. Don was born February 25, 1929 in Union City, Indiana and the son of the late Claude L. & Beulah I. (Feltman) Wampler.

He retired in 1987 from the former Treaty Company of Greenville, where he had been employed for 35 years serving in the capacity of Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary of the Board of Directors. Later he owned a company for 15 years called Extra Special Products.

Don was a former member of the Greenville Elk’s Lodge, the Lion’s Club, Moose and Eagle’s lodges.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Linda K. “Cookie” (Ryan) Wampler May 17, 2010. They were married April 22, 1967. Also twin infant children Jason Ryan & Ann Elizabeth Wampler. Brothers Robert & Jack Wampler and sisters Phyllis Clark and Carolyn K. Adcock.

He is survived by his children Dana “Dee” & Jeff Schmidt of Greenville, Janie & Steve Hubbard of Garfield Heights, Donald J. “Donnie” & Stephani Wampler of Greenville, Kathryn “Kate” & Jeff Sopczak of Galloway and Amy Cates of Arcanum. Grandchildren Stacy Strait, Tricia (Greg) Peck, Carrie (Jim) Hackney, Jody (Jon) Shy, Alexandria Hubbard, Ryan Wampler, Nathan Wampler, McKenna R. Cates, Griffin P. Cates and Marlaina K. Sopczak. Eleven great grandchildren, sister Sue A. Strayer of Germantown and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 12 Noon on Saturday January 26, 2013 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio.

Rodney E. Helmer, 66, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at his residence with his family by his side.

He was born February 23, 1946, in Greenville,Ohio, son of the late Ralph and Thelma (Coby) Helmer. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles,and Jackson Helmer and Ronnie Ray.

Rodney was retired from Pax Steel in Coldwater, Ohio where he was Tow Motor Operator. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Steelworkers Local #4839.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Debra (Graham), whom he married August 6, 1988; his children, Bruce (Tonya Beasley) Glaze of Greenville, Todd (Cheryl) Stevens of Greenville, Elecia Pitman of Denton, TX, Ronnie (Rhonda) Helmer of Celina, Jerry (Melissa Frech) Wert of Sevona, OH, Kary (Brandy) Helmer of Celina, Robert (Diana) Shaffer, of Greenville, Andre Shaffer of Greenville, Steve (Lisa) Shaffer of Greenville; 29 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ralph (Janet) Helmer, Lucreda (Joe) Brandt, Shelva Rose , Joan (Donald) Holdeman all of Greenville, Dick Helmer of Troy, Bob (Joyce) Helmer of Troy, and Beatrice Hergenrather of Piqua.

Zona L. Bashore age 70, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:10 P.M. on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville. Zona was born June 3, 1942 in Coletown, Ohio to the late Jack C. & Audrey (Marrick) Peters.

Zona is survived by her husband, Sam Bashore whom she married October 12, 1963; children, Dale & Lynn Bashore of New Paris, Cynthia Shoenleben of Pitsburg and Terry & Donna Bashore of Greenville; grandchildren, Dustin Bashore, Cody Bashore, Beth Shoenleben, Brooke Shoenleben and Craig Shoenleben; great grandson, Ryan Bashore; sisters, Athleen Buhrman of New Madison and Phyllis Overholser of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Zona is also preceded in death by a brother, John C. Peters.

Zona retired from Greenville Technology Incorporated. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren.

James O. Smith (January 22, 2013)

James O. Smith, age 75 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:01 P.M. Tuesday January 22, 2013 at his residence. Jim was born October 15, 1937 in Wayne County, Indiana and the son of the late Lawrence & Alice (Smith) Kiser.

He retired in 2001 from Whirlpool Corporation of Greenville where he had worked for 13 years.

Jim was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army-National Guard, a member of the Richmond, Indiana Moose Lodge, Covington, Ohio Eagles Lodge and loved woodworking, race cars and camping.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Barbara DeBoard and Doris Kay Kiser.

Jim is survived by his children Rick & Tresia Smith of Gettysburg and Michelle & Greg Mader of Greenville. Grandchildren Terri Razzano, Meagan Mader, Justin Mader and Stephenie Cunningham. Great grandchildren Zoe Razzano and Katlynn Daughtery. Brothers and sisters in law Lawrence “Sham” & Marsha Kiser of Union City, Ohio, William & Mabel Kiser and Mike Kiser all of Greenville. A special friend Frances Jackson of Bradford, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.

Genevieve T. (Wallace) Bussell, 86, of Greenville, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at her residence with her family by her side.

She was born February 22, 1926 in Peebles, Ohio, daughter of the late Eliza R. and Mildred L (Jones) Wallace. In addition to her parents she is preceded by her husband, Harrison H. Bussell who died on January 14, 2008; a daughter, Joie D. Bussell-Vogler; sisters, Dorothy Oaks and Vivian Wallace.

Genevieve was retired from Lamberts in Ansonia, Ohio.

She is survived by her daughters, Beverly A. (Leonard) Gehl of Gillette, WY, Pandora (Donnie) Short of Moorcraft, WY, Lisa R. Bussell and friend, Jeff Sanders of Greenville, OH; grandchildren, Mike, Christine, Kelly,Aaron, Justin,Sherry, Holly, Ryan; 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Newman of Middletown and Ermaline Gardner of Columbus.

Services will be held at a later date at the Zion Cemetery near Eaton, Ohio.

Robert "Gene" Yohey (January 19, 2013)

Robert "Gene" Yohey,79, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

He was born July 13, 1933 in Darke County, Ohio, son of the late Austin LeRoy and Bertha (Lyme) Yohey. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Ray Yohey, Roy Yohey, Lucille Kimmel, Janette Cain, Marlene Skinner; and a son-in-law, David Shiverdecker.

Gene was retired from farming which was his passion, also had worked at Ansonia Lumber Yard , Ansonia Farm Service. He was a veteran of the US Army, a member of the Greenville Eagles #2177, Greenville Legion and VFW.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley (Blackburn) Yohey whom he married July 4, 1953; children, Larry G, (Connie) Yohey of Rossburg, Sharon K. (Brent) Siders of Greenville, Connie S. Shiverdecker of Greenville; grandchildren, Travis Yohey, Jason (Jennifer) Yohey, Shelly Geyer, Scott Siders, Holli Anderson, Nicholas Anderson, Tracy (Steve) Bailey; great grandchildren, Dominic and Devin Geyer, Julia and Eva Yohey, Kyla and Gavin Gerace, Joseph Siders, Parker and Kaylyn Bailey; and a sister, Helen (Melvin) Spencer of Greenville.

Services with full military honors by the Greenville Honor Guard will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, January 23, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral in Greenville with the Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow at a later date Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Phyllis J. Collins (January 18, 2013)

Phyllis J. Collins went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 12:15 p.m. She was born on July 14, 1938 in Versailles, Ohio, daughter of the late Francis and Florence (Schafer) Treon.

She is survived by husband Edgar A. Collins, whom she married on September 20, 1958. She is also survived by children Merlin Collins and fiancée, Jody Randall-Schriefer of Troy; Jan Collins and significant other, Dave Curtis of Versailles; Beth Collins and significant other, Melissa Hostetler of Sidney; Brian and wife, Tammy Collins of Versailles; and Cathy and husband, Scott Peters of Versailles.

Phyllis was a loving grandmother to 13 Grandchildren: Ty (Kate) Collins, Taryn (Jake) Griffin, and Dana Collins; Matthew (Katie) Curtis, Michele (Kevin) Henninger; Todd and Savanna Hostetler; Bobby (fiancée, Paige Boston), Kristen and Mariah Collins; Collin, Ellen and Emma Peters; and six Great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include her sister, Carolyn & Gary Poling of Versailles and her brother, Kent & Tammy Treon also of Versailles.

Phyllis and Ed were owners of Collins Super Valu for 31 years. Phyllis was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, an organizer of Community Meals, a member of the Versailles Garden Club, Modern Mothers Club, Coterie Club, Music Boosters, and was a Den Mother. She and Ed were the Grand Marshals of the Poultry Days Parade in 1995.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. at Bailey-Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles on Wednesday, January 23. Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Bob Akins officiating and burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. Kenneth E. (Kenny) “Fuzz” Todd age 73, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 7:40 A.M. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Kenny was born October 28, 1939 in Troy, Ohio to the late Warren K. & Thelma Lucille (Goings) Todd.

Kenny retired from Weaver Brothers in Versailles, Ohio. He was a former member of the Versailles Eagles.

James L. Hiestand, 71 , of Rossburg, passed away Tuesday evening, January 15, 2013 at his residence.

He was born March 26, 1941 in Rossburg, Ohio,son of the late Don B. and Mary E. (Lorton) Hiestand. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother-in law, Frank Link and 2 nieces.

Jim was retired from Northwest Airlines where he had been an aircraft mechanic. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, Ohio and North Star American Legion. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survived by his children, Chad C. (fiancee, Tanya) Hiestand of Rossburg, Nichole Heiser of Eaton, Elisha Borders of Eaton; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Bob (Judy) Hiestand of Ansonia, Ronald (Joyce) Hiestand of North Star, and Steve (Marge) Hiestand of Rossburg; sisters, Betty Link of Cave Creek, AZ, Diana (Frank) Huber of North Star, Julia (Darrel) Meyer of New Weston, and Jeanie (Jeff) Mathew of Lima; an uncle, numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 19, at the St. Bernard Catholic Church on Burkettsville, Ohio. Burial with full military honors will follow in the St. Bernard Church Cemetery in Burkettsville.

Maxine Louise (Higgs) Emrick (January 14, 2013)

Maxine Louise (Higgs) Emrick, 97, of New Madison, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 14, 2013. Maxine was born on August 4, 1915 in West Manchester to the late Jesse and Maggie Marie (McClure) Higgs.

Maxine was a homemaker duringl her life and a 1933 graduate of the Jefferson Township High School. Maxine and Lowell were members of The Grange in New Madison, they served as officers, and helped build the Community Center in New Madison. Maxine was a member of the New Madison EUB Church and Abbottsville United Methodist. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and doing ceramics. She was a very good mother and mother-in-law who enjoyed spending time with her family.

Maxine is survived by a daughter, Betty June and Roger Whittaker of Arcanum; two granddaughters, Annette and Doug Pepple of Greenville and Karen Whittaker and boyfriend, William Walter of Dayton; two grandsons, Jerry and Susan Whittaker of Greenville and Larry and Stephanie Whittaker of Douglasville, Georgia; grandchildren, Nathan Pepple of Arcanum, David Pepple of Greenville, Maggie Pepple of Ball State University and Elizabeth Whittaker of Douglasville, Georgia; two step, great-grandchildren, Bill Floyd and fiancé, Tammy Weyant and daughter Sarah of Greenville, and Angela Floyd of Indianapolis, Indiana; a sister, Doris Eichhorn of Richardson, Texas; a sister-in-law, Helen Higgs of Richmond, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

Elvin K. Hollinger age 93, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Versailles Health Care Center. Elvin was born December 6, 1919 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Noah F. & Mary (Holsinger) Hollinger.

In addition to his parents, Elvin is also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Violet L. (Hendrickson) Hollinger on August 5, 1994 whom he married March 22, 1941; 2nd wife, Virginia M. Elvin was a retired farmer and also formerly worked for Keller Grain & Feed in Horatio. Elvin was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church in Greenville.

Larry L. Foureman, 77, of Arcanum, died Monday, January 14th, 2013 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.

Mr. Foureman was born in Abbottsville on August 7, 1935, the son of the late Wherly D. and Iva A. (Burns) Foureman. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Ithaca. He was a former Darke County Commissioner, Van Buren Township Trustee, Arcanum Mayor and member of the Village Council, Darke County Township Trustee Past President, State of Ohio Township Trustee Director, Past President State of Ohio County Commissioners, Founder of the National Kiddie Tractor Pullers and the Hennipen Racing Ducks. Larry was the originator of the Halloween Bean Supper. Director of the former Arcanum National Bank. Former Arcanum Assistant Fire Chief and a founding member of the Arcanum Community Rescue Squad. Larry was a member of the Arcanum Area Business Assoc. and the Greenville Moose, Eagles, and Elks Lodges. He is on the Board of Directors Eagles Lodge; President of the Ohio Colt Racing Assoc., Vice President Dr. H M Parshall Memorial; Treasure Signature Series.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Sisters Thelma Fourman and Berdine Case, Brother Myron "Barney" Foureman, and Son-in-Law Gary Reinoehl.

He is survived by his wife Judith (Rogers) Foureman, whom he married May 14, 1983; Children Mark David (Tammy) Foureman, Huber Heights, Lari Lynn Reinoehl, Arcanum, Michele (Brent) Black, Piqua, and Jack Matthew Louderback, Sandyhook, Kentucky; Grand Children John and David Foureman, Travis and Tyler (Sarah) Reinoehl, Angie (Matt) Nichol, Kelly Manson, and Natalie Louderback; and 7 Great Grandchildren.

Ireta L. Beard, 93, of Versailles and formerly of Greenville, passed away early Sunday morning, January 13, 2013, at the Versailles Health Care Center.

She was born August 1, 1919 in Darke County, daughter of the late Grover A. and Wilma Leo (Ross) Miller. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Beard; a sister, Betty Brumbaugh; and two brothers, Jesse J. Miller and Ross J. Miller.

A homemaker, Ireta had worked for numerous local families as a caregiver and housekeeper. She was a member of the Nashville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Wilma J. (Charles) Garwick of Troy; a grandson, Todd A. (Tammy) Garwick of Dublin; great granddaughters, Tori and Julia Garwick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, January 17 the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Chuck MacKeen officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenmound Cemetery, New Madison, OH.

Arlington E. "Doc" Sanders (January 12, 2013)

Arlington E. "Doc" Sanders, 77, of Ansonia, passed away early Saturday morning, January 12, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.

He was born May 5, 1935 in Mendon, OH, son of the late Alfred Sanders and Mabel (Joseph) Sanders-Bonifield. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step father, Wayne Bonifield; brothers, Clayton, Keith and Melvin Sanders; sisters, Esther Stukenborg, Margaret Oldiges, and Rebecca McEldowney; and a half brother, Wayne Bonifield.

Arlington was retired from I.D.S. Farm Equipment (New Idea) in Coldwater having worked from 1951 to 1995. He was a veteran of the US Army.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy G. (Lyons) Sanders, whom he married May 12, 1962; his children, Todd (Bobbie McGlinch) Sanders of Celina, Randall (Pam) Sanders of Ft. Recovery, and Charlene (Robert) Hartzell of Greenville; grandchildren, Audrey, Kristina, Kevin, Kathleen, Kolin, Bryan, and Hailey; great grandchildren, Aiden, Rozlynn, Gavin, Isabelle, Leanna, Grayson, Brett, Kayden, Walker, a one to be born soon; sisters, Marcella Bonifield of Salamonia, IN, Ruby Singer of New Weston, brother, Roger Sanders of Ansonia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kathleen R. McEowen, 77, of Greenville, passed away peacefully at Heartland Nursing Home in Greenville Friday morning, January 11, 2013 with her devoted husband by her bedside.

Kathleen was born in Montgomery County, May 1, 1935, moved to the Greenville area in 1950 and graduated from Greenville High School in 1953.

She was preceded in death by her father Raymond D. Connely, mother, Kathryn (Leen) Connely, sister, Linda Sue Wenning, and a daughter, Deborah Kay (McEowen) Brown.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roger L. McEowen, whom she married October 2, 1954 by the Rev. Noble Schlechty in the parsonage of the Rossburg United Methodist Church; son, Jeffrey B. (LeAnn) McEowen; grandchildren, Bradley R. McEowen, Bailey R. (McEowen) Trick, Brenna R. McEowen, Grayson J. McEowen, Melissa (Gabriel) Nickolson, and Brian Gabriel; great grandchildren, Landyn Gabriel, Ollie M. Trick, and Evann C. Trick; and a son-in-law, Randy Brown.

A private service will be held at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Randy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death her husband Delbert Petitjean and 2 brothers.

Donna was a homemaker and a member of the Versailles Vet Club. She loved gardening, fishing and spending money.

Donald Eugene “Donnie” Moyer (January 10, 2013)

Donald Eugene “Donnie” Moyer, age 75 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 6:40 P.M. Thursday January 10, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic Cleveland, Ohio. Donnie was born December 25, 1937 in Richland Township Darke County, Ohio and the son of the late Charles Clyde & Ethel Marie (Sherrick) Moyer.

He was retired from TWA, where he had been employed for 33 years with the grounds crew at the Dayton International Airport. He was also a veteran serving with the U.S. Marine Corp.

He was an avid fisherman, loved to play cards and hunt mushrooms.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Shirley Riegle and Phyllis Shuttleworth and a niece Jill Snyder.

Donnie is survived by his brother and sister in law Roger & Bonita Moyer of Greenville; loving companion of 18 years Gladys Neff of Greenville; nieces and nephews Greg Shuttleworth, Mark Shuttleworth, Jackie Guevara, Anna Marie Riegle, Lonnie Moyer and Kim Fourman; as well as other close family members Beth (Denny) Wells, Dean (Jody) Neff, Kelly Byrum, Mike Wells, Megan Wells, Hope Byrum, Bob, Michelle, Addison, and Abby Miller, and Travis and Tyler Neff; as well as his lifelong best friend Bill Bohler. He will be missed by his dog Katie as well as Kelly’s dogs Lucy and Lola.

She was a homemaker and retired from the maintenance work at the Kettering Carillon Towers.

Rita enjoyed camping and family get togethers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William J. “Bill” Riegle. They were married December 31, 1954. Also by a son Douglas Lee Riegle.

Rita is survived by a daughter and son in law Sheryl and Wayne Lavy of Greenville; sons and daughter in law Mark and Ramona Riegle of Greenville, Richard Riegle of Irving, Texas and Thomas Riegle of Arcanum. Grandchildren Janell (Jason) Ross, Nick (Elly) Lavy, Robert Riegle, Chelsea Riegle, Jessica (Travis) Qualls and Justin Riegle. She is survived by her husband Ross Clark of Greenville, Ohio, whom she married on March 7, 1945; daughters and son in law, Pam Clark of Greenville and Nancy & Phil Guthrie of Lakeland, Florida; son and daughter in law, Terry & Julie Clark of Greenville; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and a sister, Jo Hayes of New Hampshire.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister June Fisher.

Jackie was a dress maker and baked wedding cakes and she was also the owner of J & J sewing shop. She and her husband spent 2 years in Zimbabwe on a missionary trip where they were very involved. She was a member of the East Main Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife Teresa (Aukerman) Shanks of Pitsburg, Ohio, whom he married on June 10, 1982; son and daughter in law, Chris & Kathy Blumenstock of West Milton, Ohio; daughter and son in law, Dana & Steve Puterbaugh of Hollansburg, Ohio; grandchildren, Jason (Sue) Blumenstock, Erica (Kyle) Austin, Christopher (Brittaney) Blumenstock, Alicia (Chris) Walter, Mat Blumenstock, Gogeo Thornton, Meaghan Thornton, and Logon Puterbaugh; great grandchildren, Jaron, Sierra, Sydney, Skylar, and Tristin; mother in law, Kathleen Aukerman of Greenville, Ohio; and aunt, Betty Batulanon of Middletown, Ohio.

Kenny is preceded in death by his son, Todd Blumenstock; daughter, Robin Blumenstock; brother, Dale Shanks; father in law, Harold Aukerman; and aunt, Barb Spirk.

He was a member of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. He was in sales and customer service most of his working career. He loved NASCAR and spending time at Grand Lake St. Mary’s.

She was born July 30, 1920 in Darke County, Ohio the daughter of the late Isaac N. & Hettie (Wise) Bright. She was taught elementary school, grades 1st through 6th, for 36 years. She taught in the Gettysburg and Bradford School systems and 29 years at the Versailles school system.

She is a member Harris Creek Church of the Brethren; she graduated from Jackson High School and attended Manchester College and Miami University.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Husband: Myron K. Loxley; Granddaughter: Nicole Ravenscroft; Brothers: Morris & Richard W. Bright; Sister: Ann Replogle; son in law: John Long.

Jimmie D. Cohee age 74 of Russia, Ohio died at 1:25 AM on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio after battling heart disease for 26 years. He was born November 24, 1938 in Versailles to the late Ralph Cohee and Mary (Seman) Cohee-Frazier. His mother survives in Greenville. He married Madonna Kelch on July 17, 1958 at St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia. She survived in Russia. He is also survived by children; Gina & Robert Griesdorn, Piqua, Jim Jr. & Shelley Cohee, Russia, Jody & Ed Seger Jr., McCartyville, 8 grandchildren, Madison & Morgan Griesdorn, Haley, Hannah & Hunter Cohee, Jacob, Josh & Joel Seger, sisters Helen & Jerry Wright, Greenville, Shirley Hughes, Greenville, brother-in-law Wayne Grenier, Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his father, his Step-father Norman Frazier, sister Mary Louise Grenier & brother Robert Cohee. He was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church. He worked at Francis Manufacturing for 17 years and owned and operated the Russia Inn for 3 yrs and at National Tag/Paxar in Vandalia until retirement. He enjoyed his trips to Florida & Canada and was a loving husband, father, grandfather & brother. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. Remy Catholic Church with Rev. Frank Amberger celebrant. Friends may call at the church from 10AM until time of service and following the service there will be lunch and fellowship at the CWV hall in Russia. Earl E. “Gene” Fox (January 3, 2013)

Earl E. “Gene” Fox age 82, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 8:08 P.M. on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville. Earl was born June 24, 1930 in Darke County to the late Edward & Effie (Koeller) Fox.

Earl is survived by a son & daughter-in-law, Darrin & Tricia Fox of Versailles; grandchildren, Dara & Stacy Trissel, Cody Kindred, Kaylee Stikeleather and Kameron Stikeleather; great grandchildren, Victoria Grisez, Hannah Grisez, Josiah Grisez, Lila Grisez, Maris Trissel and one expected; brother & sister-in-law, William & Joyce Scheiding of Arcanum; sister & brother-in-law, Arlene & Ellsworth Szkudlarek of Brookville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Earl is also preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie J. Kindred and an infant daughter, Regina Fox; and a son-in-law, Yewell Kindred.
Earl was a retired truck driver with 45 years of service. Earl was a senior communication specialist in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Earl was a life member of the Greenville V.F.W. Post#7262 and a member of the Versailles Vets Club.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Dennis Wheeler officiating. Keith Hayes (January 3, 2013)

Keith Hayes, 50, of Greenville and formerly of Palestine, passed away Thursday evening, January 3, 2013 at the Village Green Healthcare Center in Greenville.

He was born May 28, 1962 in Hazard, KY, son of the late Thomas S. and Lenora (Smith) Hayes.

Keith was a computer engineer for Ludy's Greenhouse in New Madison. He was a 1981 graduate of Tri-Village High School. He was a veteran of the US Army having served 3 years in the Special Forces.

Keith is survived by a sister, Teresa Hayes of Troy; brothers, Mark Hayes of South Carolina, and Jonathan Hayes of Greenville; 6 nieces and nephews; and 2 great nieces.

There will be no services.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice, 1350 N. Broadway St., Greenville, OH.

Twila Armstrong (January 2, 2013)

Twila Armstrong, 83, of Union City, and formerly of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Kindred Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

She was born January 1, 1930 in Delaware County, Indiana, daughter of the late Robert and Effie (Thornburg) Smith. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Robert E. Harris; 2nd husband, Robert Keith "Casey" Armstrong; and a son, Christopher Armstrong.

Twila had worked for 20 years as a cook in the cafeteria at Fram in Greenville. She was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church of Albany, Indiana and the New Madison Eastern Star.

She is survived by a son, Michael Harris of Greenville; grandchildren, Melissa Gibbs, Melikka King, and Meagan Harris; great grandchildren, Landyn, Madison, and Alexis Pace, Jonathan and Jayden Gibbs, and Jacob Weaver.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Ron Schreck officiating. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Black Cemetery, near Albany, Indiana.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Greenville from 6-8 p.m. on Monday. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Greenville Rescue or the Greenville Church of the Brethren.

Michael R. Walter age 54 of Troy, Ohio passed away at 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Hospice of Dayton. Michael was born June 8, 1958 in Greenville, Ohio to Don & Joyce (Byrum) Walter of Greenville, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his wife, Cathy (Corry) Walter whom he married August 29, 1986; children, Kristen Walter of Troy, Ohio, Ashley Walter of Troy, Ohio and Michael Walter II of Troy, Ohio; and brother & sister-in-law, Scott & Ruth Walter of Orange County, California.

Michael is preceded in death by a brother, Brian Walter; paternal grandparents, Ray & Alma Walter; and maternal grandparents, Hershel Byrum & Pauline Berry Byrum.

Michael was a Physician Assistant at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy and formerly at Upper Valley Family Care in Troy and Piqua. Michael was a member of Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church in Tipp City and was an avid Troy Hockey enthusiast.

A celebration of Michael’s life will take place at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with John Jung officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 7, 2012 at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens in Darke County. Margaret L. Henby (January 2, 2013)

Margaret L. Henby, age 98 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 11:20 A.M. Wednesday January 2, 2013 in the emergency room of Wayne Healthcare Center Greenville, Ohio. Margaret was born December 7, 1914 Wauseon, Ohio and the daughter of the late Clarence E. & Ethel E. (Barker) Geringer.

Margaret was retired from Fram Corporation of Greenville. She also had been an organist and a pianist, entertaining at the Brethren Home, various clubs and restaurants locally as well as in the Richmond, Indiana area. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and formerly served as organist.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband S. Paul Henby Jr. June 27, 1991. They were married June 14, 1936. Also by a brother W. Donald Geringer.

Margaret is survived by her son and daughter in law James & Jane Henby of Greenville. Grandchildren Teresa (Jay) Molter, Kathryn (Brad) Brown and John Henby (Libby). Great grandchildren Adam Molter, Nora Molter, Caleb Henby, Samantha Henby and Benjamin Brown. Also numerous step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday January 9, 2013 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Joe Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home.

Berniece “Bea” E. Ullery (January 1, 2013)

Berniece “Bea” E. Ullery, age 99 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 9:43 A.M. Tuesday January 1, 2013 at Wayne Healthcare Center, Greenville, Ohio. She was born April 24, 1913 in Richland Township Darke County, Ohio and the daughter of the late Herschel & Sophia (Rehmert) Byrd.

Berniece with her husband Joyce owned and operated Ullery Dairy Company until 1957 and then in 1963 founded Ullery Vending Company of Greenville which they operated until 2009.

She was a member of the EUM Church, the Grandmother’s Club and Eastern Star all of Greenville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joyce E. Ullery December 29, 1991; sons Donald E. Ullery 2012 and J. Duane Ullery 2009; daughter in law Pennie S. Ullery; sister Gladys Wogoman and brothers Ward Byrd, Ralph Byrd, Lowell Byrd and another brother in infancy.

She is survived by her son Larry G. Ullery of Greenville; daughter in law Nancy Ullery of Ft. Myers, Fla.; grandchildren Tim (Tina) Ullery of Greenville, Michelle (Tony) Deemer of Cincinnati, L. Robert (Nancy) Ullery of Lexington, KY and Brian S. (Jen) Ullery of St. Louis, MO.; 10 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday January 5, 2013 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Sylvia McKibben officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
