Ethel M. Murphy (November 23, 2014)

Ethel M. Murphy, 90, of Greenville and formerly of Glendale, NY, passed away Sunday morning, November 23, 2014 at the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.

Services will take place in New York with burial to follow in the Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale Long Island, New York.

Virginia L. “Ginny” Wandle (November 23, 2014)

Virginia L. “Ginny” Wandle, 95, of Greenville, passed away early Sunday morning, November 23, 2014 at the Village Green Healthcare Center in Greenville.

She was born April 23, 1919 in Darke County, daughter of the late Joseph L. and Maude R. (Hartman) Hart. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband’s, George “Tex” Erney; and Oren Wandle; a daughter, Dorothy Ward: 3 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Robert, Dale, and Wayne Hart; and 6 sisters, Blanche Bateman, Ruby Stickleman, Gladys Thompson, Lucille Stickleman, Dorothy Denson, and Annabelle Sidle.

A homemaker, Ginny was retired from the former Royal Garment in Ansonia. She was a member of the Greenville Missionary Church.

She is survived by her children, Larry (Rebecca) Baker of Ansonia, Sue (Wayne) Detling of Greenville, Carl (Joyce) Baker of Arcanum, and Robert Baker of DeGraff, OH; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5-8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice, 1350 N. Broadway St., Greenville, OH 45331.

Gladys E. “Peg” Rhoades, 94 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Saturday November 22, 2014 at 1:40 PM at the Brethren Retirement Community. She was born March 25, 1920 in Darke County, Ohio the daughter of the late Denzil & Mary Jane (Baker) Spencer. She was a homemaker; a graduate of Palestine High School; and a member of the Women of the Moose.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Lowell Rhoades on August 29, 1984; brother: Ray Spencer; sister: Helen Farmer.

Garry Lynn Ungericht (November 22, 2014)

Garry Lynn Ungericht, 62 of Ansonia, Ohio passed away on Saturday November 22, 2014 at 7:13 AM at Wayne Healthcare. He was born July 28, 1952 in Greenville, Ohio the son of the late Earl & Vivian (Snyder) Ungericht. He was retired and had worked at Shellar Globe (Hardy Division) and Pax Steel. He was a member of the Union City American Legion. He enjoyed card playing, collecting key chains and bottle openers, & working jigsaw puzzles.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sister: Sherry Ungericht Prasuhn; in laws: Ronald Borger, Mary Jane Borger Creamer, Pauline Borger Kaiser, Phyllis Borger Honeycutt, & Bill Borger.

Bob L. Mikesell, 83 Greenville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday November 19, 2014 at 2:30 PM at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. He was born February 16, 1931 in Union City, Indiana the son of the late: Lovelle (Hindsley) Mikesell & Ira & Zelma (Thornburg) Mikesell. He was a farmer and a member of Oakland Church of the Brethren; he worked with disaster services for the church.

He is preceded in death by his parents & step mother; his wife: Juanita M. (Prether) Mikesell on April 29, 2014 whom he married December 28, 1952; brother in law: Charles Prether.

He is survived by his children: Marjalie & Robert Schaaf of Greenville, Paul & Cathy Mikesell of New Madison, Bruce & Terri Mikesell of New Madison, & Kent & Dawn Mikesell of New Paris; numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren; sister: Linda Lauderdale & Ken Myers of Portland, Oregon; brother in law: Bob & Lucy Prether of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister in law: Edie Prether of Greenville, Ohio.

Elsie M. Reier, 78, of Arcanum, passed away Wednesday evening, November 19, 2014 at her residence.

She was born November 14, 1936 in Dayton, daughter of the late Aloysius H. and Elenora (Keith) Hammaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

A homemaker, Elsie was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Greenville.

She is survived by her children, Gary Reier, Dean (Lisa) Reier, Jan Reier, Andy (Linda) Reier, Lisa (Marc) Fisk, Diane (Scott) Wilson, Scott (Tracy) Reier, Darla (Greg) Ahlers, and Larae (Tommy, III) McGarrity; 29 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Hammaker; and sisters, Gerri (Les) Crowell, and Darlene Winterrowd.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, November 29 at the Kingdom Hall, 6688 Ludy Road, Greenville.

Kenny L. Blackburn (November 18, 2014)

Kenny L. Blackburn, 68, of Greenville formally of Ansonia, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton.

He was born March 30, 1946 in Darke County, Ohio, son of the late Morris R. "Happy" and Mary Jeanette (Karns) Blackburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Benny Blackburn and special friend Margaret Blackburn.

He had worked for the former Huffy's in Celina and later worked for Cooper Farms. He had attended the Greenville Missionary Church and was a former member of the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his children, Dennis (Michelle) Blackburn of Arcanum, Pam (Chad) Gootee, of Marysville, OH, Mike (Kendra) Blackburn of Greenville; 17 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Shirley Yohey of Greenville, Carol Close of Ansonia, Connie (George) Harling of Celina, Becky (John) Klipstine of Ansonia, Steve (Carrie) Blackburn of Minster, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 22, at Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Rev. Dr. Donald J. Avore age 68, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:26 A.M. on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at his residence. Rev. Avore was born June 16, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Jules H. & Anna D. (Ruzic) Avore.

Rev. Avore is survived by his wife, Thelma D. Avore whom he married July 24, 1972; children, Pamela D. Baker & husband, Terry of London, Kentucky, Joel D. Avore & wife, Karen of Greenville and Pastor Donald J. Avore II & wife, Raquel of York, South Carolina; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert L. Avore of Valrico, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rev. Avore was a minister for 35 years and a Real Estate Broker in Darke County. Rev. Avore was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church in Greenville and the National Association of Realtors.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Trinity Wesleyan Church 1400 East Main Street Greenville with Pastor Bob Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church. Betty L. (Brenner) Surine (November 6, 2014)

Betty L. (Brenner) Surine, 92, of Mt. Dora, Florida and formerly of Greenville, passed away November 6, 2014 in Mt. Dora.

She was born June 5, 1922 in Greenville, daughter of the late James and Ethel (Shilt) Brenner.

Betty had graduated from Greenville High School and received her Bachelor's Degree from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, OH. Upon graduation from Heidelberg, she then attended the Kendall Art Institute in Grand Rapids, MI. Betty was a veteran of the US Coast Guard having served during WWII.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Patricia Brenner of Tavares, FL.

Private services will be held at a later date with burial to take place in the Greenville Cemetery.

Sylvia E. Lavy (November 14, 2014)

Sylvia E. Lavy, 91, of Greenville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 8:05 PM at the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on March 10, 1923 in Goshen, Indiana, to the late Daniel P. & Susan B. (Miller) Graybill.

She is survived by sons and daughters in law, David & Shirley Lavy of Hagerstown, IN, and Glen & Rebecca Lavy of Scottsdale, AZ; daughters and sons in law, Helen Kincaid of Cocoa, FL, Jane & Harry Roush of Louisville, KY, Esther & Gary Roth of Ansonia, OH, Frances & Larry Lee of Carmel, IN, Sheila & Don McLemore of Goshen, IN and Patricia Anderson of South Bend, IN; 26 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; brother and sister in law, James & Waneta Graybill of Goshen, IN; sisters in law, Esther Graybill of Flora, IN, Rhoda Milyard of Brookville, OH, and Mary Ellen Lavy of Camden, IN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by brother, Lester Graybill; daughter, Barbara Lavy, granddaughter, Alecia Roush and husband, Daniel Lavy.

Sylvia retired in 1988 as a seamstress at Jone Furniture in Wakarusa, IN, and was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Wakarusa, IN.

There will be a service held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Bible Fellowship Church, Greenville, OH, with Pastor David Harper and Pastor Scott Gruber co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Bradford, OH. Family will receive friends on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 4-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.

Robert G. Landis, 87 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Thursday November 13, 2014 at his residence.  He was born May 13, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Ralph & Golda Mae (Gardner) Landis.  He served in the United States Army.  He worked for General Motors in Material Control.  He attended Faith Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife:  Frieda Belle Landis on July 21, 2014 whom he married July 27, 1957.

He is survived by his daughter & son in law:  Loreen & Larry Thompson of Pembroke, VA; his grandchildren:  Rebecca Thompson & Joshua Thompson; & numerous nieces & nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday November 22, 2014 at Germantown Cemetery, Germantown, Ohio followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church 740 Russ Road, Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Margaret “Judy” Sauter, age 84, of Greenville, Ohio, and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 10:25 PM at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on May 30, 1930 in Springfield, Kentucky, to the late James Bascom & Bessie (Elliott) Bugg.

Judy is survived by her daughters and son in law, Michele & Ron Hoeksema of Ansonia, Ohio, and Robin Henderson of Salt Lake City, Utah; adopted daughter, Char & Mike Hone of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren, Matthew, Joseph and William Henderson and Tyler, Benjamin and Hadlee Hoeksema; great grandchildren, Audrey, Scottie and Silas Henderson; granddogs, Wesley and Baxter; brother, J.B. Bugg of Laporte, Indiana; sisters, Louise Hopper of Hannah, Indiana, and Sue DeGroote of Laporte, Indiana; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Waldo Sauter whom she married on September 2, 1950; son in law, Bruce Henderson; and sisters, Mable Decker and Hazel Monroe.

She was a member of the Business of Professional Women’s and enjoyed going to the Soaring Eagle. She worked in the Admission Office at Central Michigan University.

There will be a memorial service held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Ansonia United Methodist Church, 200 W. High Street, Ansonia, Ohio; with Pastor Ron Hoeksema officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Thelma Marie Beck, age 92 of Bradford, passed away Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville.

Thelma was born in Delaware County, OH on March 19, 1922 to the late Clyde & Florence Grey Brown; was a member of the Oakland Church of the Brethren; past Cub Scout Leader; past FHA mom; active participant in all her children's activities; and she was such a thoughtful baker and graciously shared her goodies.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Beck in 1986; daughter, Alice Williams; brothers and sisters, Florabelle Gansert, Howard Brown, Vernon Brown, Lawrence Brown, Ronald Brown, Charles Brown, Phyllis Proffit, Donald Brown, and infant Darrell Brown.

Andrew Brady Davidson, age 33, of Tipp City, Ohio, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 in Dayton, Ohio.

He was born April 4, 1981, a son of Georgia Ann (wilder) Davidson and the late William Donald Davidson.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Kelly Jo (Kerry) Ellison of Wayne Lakes; and two brothers, Michael D. (Cindy) Dickman of Arcanum, and Christopher (Alisha) Davidson of Shallowater, TX.

Services will be held 2pm Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Danny Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. The Family will receive guests on Thursday from 1 until the time of service at the Funeral Home.

Richard W. Baker, 81, of Greenville, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 13, 2014 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

He was born November 20, 1932, in Darke County, son of the late Raymond M. and Sarah A. (Brosey) Baker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene V. (Beatty) Baker on August 7, 2012; a son, Dale Allen Baker on October 24, 2012; brothers, Paul S. Baker and David J. Baker; and a sister, Lois A. Reinbolt.

He is survived by his son, John Robert (Jennifer A.) Baker, MD, PhD, of Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter-in-law, Susan B. Baker of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Daniel A. Baker, Rebecca A. Baker, Jackson R. Baker, and Johanna E. Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was retired as a machinist from the former Corning Glass in Greenville and had owned and operated the Corner Machine Shop. He was a member of the Palestine German Baptist Church and a graduate of Palestine High School Class of 1950. Richard was an avid traveler and boater having visited all of the continental United States with his family.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery near Palestine.

She is survived by her sons, Charles W. Pierson of Dayton and Paul E. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Pierson whom she married on February 2, 1957; great grandson, James Schlechty (Carl’s twin); brothers Walter, Floyd & Edward Helton; sisters, Verda Wallace and Della Cheek.

Dorothy worked at Sheller Globe in Union City for 23 years and also cooked for a nursing home for 3 ½ years. She was a member of the Smokey Mountain Antique Engine and Tractor Association.
There will be a service held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Ron Isom officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Lester L. Livingston (November 11, 2014)

Lester L. Livingston, 93, of New Weston, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at his residence.

He was born May 14, 1921 in Union City, Ohio, son of the late Ora and Elsie (Smith) Livingston. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi (McKibben) Livingston whom died on April 30, 2004; son, Dennis Livingston; 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Lester was a farmer, member of the VFW and was a veteran of the US Navy.

He is survived by his sons, Allen Livingston, of West Palm Beach, FL and Rex (Sally) Livingston, of Gibraltar, MI; 8 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Florence (Jr.) Bateman of New Weston, Joanne (Eugene) Himes of IN; and a brother, Danny (Lois) Livingston, of Union City, OH.

Services will be held 12 PM, Monday, November 17 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, OH with Lester's grandson, Pastor Darby Livingston officiating. Richard E. "Dick" Burke (November 12, 2014)

Richard E. "Dick" Burke , 75, of Ansonia, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 12, 2014 at his residence.

He was born on December 29, 1938 in Greenville, OH, son of the late Rev. Byron B. and Bertha G. (Boze) Burke. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Burke.

Dick was retired from ABF Freight Systems having worked as a truck driver having started driving with the former Commercial Freight in Greenville.. He attended the Ansonia United Methodist Church and was a member of the Versailles Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite-Valley of Dayton. He a member of the Swinging 8's Square Dance Club and loved camping with his family and friends. He was a veteran of the US Army having served from 1957 to 1959.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wanda (Eley) Burke, whom he married August 22, 1959; a son, Mike (Karen) Burke; a daughter, Dwanna (David) Rutter; grandchildren, Daniel, Cody, Katie and LaNelle; great grandchildren, Phillip, Haylee, Graycee, and McCray; and a sister, Lois Judy.

Services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 15, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Ron Hoeksema officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Paul J. Royer (November 5, 2014)

Paul J. Royer, 93, a longtime resident of Greenville, Ohio, passed away November 5, 2014, at Hospice of Southwest Ohio in Cincinnati.

Mr. Royer was a retired business executive and business leader. He was president of Treaty Supply, a division of the Treaty Company, Greenville, for which he worked for 48 years. He was also co-founder and president of Treaty Travel, Greenville. Mr. Royer was president of the Dayton Sales Executive Club and board chairman of C. L. Watt, Inc., Chicago.

Mr. Royer was born May 16, 1921, to the late Jonas and Laura DeHoff Royer. A 1939 graduate of Greenville High School (GHS), he was class president and captain of the football team. A veteran of WWII he served at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and in Reims, France, and was a founding member of the US Air Force Band.

In 1944 he married Ruth Norma Meyer, and they had a long and happy life together until her death in 2007. They enjoyed extensive overseas business travel and annual family vacations in Florida.

Mr. Royer was active in community organizations over the years. He was president of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and board member of the Greenville Public Library. He was editor of the GHS Alumni Newsletter, member of the GHS Alumni Board, and treasurer of Greenville Meals on Wheels, with which he was affiliated for many years. He was also a senior member of the Greenville Country Club.

A man of many interests, Mr. Royer was a talented artist, an avid golfer, and a sailing enthusiast. He was generous and good-hearted and had a great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his family and by all those who knew him over his long life.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by brothers Darrell Royer and Richard Royer and daughter-in-law Lynn Goubeaux Royer. He is survived by son John Royer of Cincinnati, daughter Catherine Royer Schubert and son-in-law Robert Schubert of Philadelphia, granddaughter Jessica Royer of New York City, and two nephews and two grandnieces.

The family will receive friends at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, 1499 N. Broadway, Greenville, from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 15, 2014. A graveside service and burial at Greenville Cemetery will follow the visitation. Pastor Todd Reish will officiate. Bertie Kathleen Smith (November 9, 2014)

Bertie Kathleen Smith, 91, of Troy and formerly of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully Nov 9, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Sharon K. Hardin.

She was born Jan 13, 1923, in Troy, Ohio, to the late Bert Allan and Susie Etta (Hershey) Brown. She worked for the Atlas Underwear Company in Richmond, Indiana during WWII and later at Neff Lettering in Greenville, Ohio for many years and was also a homemaker. She was of the Methodist Faith. She and her husband, Ralph F. Smith made their home in the Greenville/Lightsville, Ohio area. They were members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and enjoyed dancing. Bertie was a wonderful wife, loving mother and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be forever loved and missed by all until our reunion in heaven.

In addition to her late parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph F. Smith, sisters, Mildred Beatress Brown and Beulah Gioulah Herrmann; brothers, Kenneth Everett, Berman Givanna, and Abner Jacob Brown.

Bertie will be deeply missed and long remembered by her sister, Virginia Holland of New Paris, Ohio, her daughter, Sharon K. Hardin of Troy, Ohio, granddaughters, Tonya Glaser of Tipp City, Ohio, and Nicole C. Hardin of Westerville, Ohio, and two great granddaughters, Olivia and Gracie Glaser, nieces, nephews, friends and a special buddy Don Condra.

McDonald & Bill Harrolle of Olney, Illinois and Erin & Dale Meyer of Versailles, Ohio; step-children, William E. & Rhonda Heffner III of Dublin, Ohio, Gary & Jenny Heffner of St. Marys, Ohio, Terry & Linda Heffner of Jacksonville, Arkansas and Cathy & John Taylor of Norway, Michigan; 24 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Robert & Cindy Kuck of Celina, Ohio; sister-in-law, Jean Kuck of California; and 7 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ella was also preceded in death by her husband, William E. Heffner Jr.; and brother, Kenneth K. Kuck.

Ella was a registered nurse at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys from 1960 to 1991. Ella attended the Covington Presbyterian Church in Covington, Ohio.

Reva W. Crose age 96, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 9:15 A.M. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Reva was born August 11, 1918 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Leonard & Ethel (Anderson) Besecker.

Reva is survived by her children, Janet & Donald Weills of Greenville, Bonnie & Robert Kreider of Kansas City, Missouri, Bennie & Shirley Ressler of Greenville and Ted Ressler of South Charleston, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Reva was also preceded in death by her husband, W.D. Crose on April 9, 1996; brothers, Verl, Delver and Denver Besecker; and sister, Edythe Morris.

Reva was a secretary for many businesses throughout her career. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Greenville.

Tabby Lane Elam, age 56 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 1:24 P.M. Tuesday November 4, 2014 at Reid Memorial Hospital Richmond, Indiana. Tabby was born April 10, 1958 in Pineville, Kentucky and the son of Virginia (Stokes) Elam and the late Charles Elam.

Tabby was retired and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents George & Lucy Elam and maternal grandparents Clyde & Bessie Evans.

Tabby’s survivors in addition to his mother are his son Trent Elam; Brothers Roger Elam, Randy Elam, Bill Elam and Wayne Elam; sisters Martina Stoner, Karen Murphy and Sharon Elam as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Randolph D. Reall (November 1, 2014)

Randolph D. Reall, 77, of Greenville, Ohio passed away Saturday evening, November 1 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on March 9, 1937, in Kitzmiller, Maryland to Lester and Lillian De Walt Reall. He grew up in that area and later moved to the Akron area, where he lived until he moved to Greenville three years ago.

Randy is survived by his wife, Kay McCarthy Reall, a daughter, Yvonne Reall (Archer) Bagley of Knoxville, TN, three sons, Dave (Donna) Reall of Coolville, OH, Jeff (Linda) Reall of Wadsworth, OH, and Tim (Tina) Ullery of Greenville. Also surviving are siblings Lester (Maxine) Reall of Cumberland, MD, Darlene Abernathy and Gene Reall, both of Akron. He had ten grandchildren, Lindsey Stewart, DJ Stewart, Stephanie Stewart, Justin (Gabrielle) Reall, Jocelyn Reall, James Reall , Erika (Josh) McDaniel, William Archer Bagley, IV, Heather (Brandon Gray) Ullery and Adam Ullery. There are also nine great-grandchildren, Carson, Madison, Teresa, Max, Kolton, Alex, Blake, Jack and Cohen. Randy is also survived by his and Kay’s longtime dear friends Kim and Vi Gilbert.

Randy drove a truck for P.I.E., Roadway, and other trucking companies. He logged over 4 million accident-free miles, retiring in 2001. He loved fishing, going to thrift stores and flea markets, exploring the back roads and finding little out-of- the way places to eat. He could fix anything and was known for his creative solutions to problems, which friends and family called “Randy-isms.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Evelene Poffenbarger and Betty Webb and daughter Teresa Reall Stewart.

A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, November 8 at the Darke County Parks Nature Center at Shawnee Prairie. The Nature Center is located at 4267 Rt. 502, just west of Greenville. Arrangements are being handled by Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

He was born January 10, 1951 in Greenville, Ohio the son of the late Robert Franklin. & Viola Murel (Arnett) Apple. He worked for Dick Lavy Trucking; and served in the National Guard. He was a graduate of Greenville High School.

Monty Bruce McNutt (October 27th, 2014)

Monty Bruce McNutt, 74, passed away Monday, October 27th, 2014 at his home in Summerville, SC. He was born on December 23, 1939 in Greenville, OH to Clem (Tim) and Roseanne (Clark) McNutt.

Visitation will be held at 9:00AM on Friday November 7th at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, 1499 North Broadway; Greenville, OH. Memorial service will begin at 10:00AM officiated by Deacon Tom Graber of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Internment service will follow at Greenville/Union Cemetery.

Monty grew up in Greenville, Oh and graduated from Greenville High School, class of 1957. Monty married Constance S. McNutt (Stammen) on May 3rd, 1958; they were married 56 years.

Monty worked for Ford as a salesperson until his retirement in 1999. One of his greatest joys was country music. Throughout the years, he enjoyed singing and playing guitar as often as he could and would seldom turn down an opportunity to attend or participate in a country music event.

Monty is survived by his wife, Constance McNutt, his 3 sons, Christopher (Nancy) McNutt, Michael (Colleen) McNutt and James McNutt; his daughter Nancy (Randall) Mescher and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Bill McNutt.

Monty is preceded in death by his son, Patrick McNutt, his parents, Clem and Roseanne McNutt and brothers, Tim McNutt and Rex McNutt.

Donald D. Cox (October 31, 2014)

Donald D. Cox, 84, of Greenville, passed away Friday evening, October 31, 2014 at Village Green Healthcare Center in Greenville.

He was born June 25, 1930 in Union City, Indiana, a son of the late Claud and Edith (Denny) Cox.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Bobby and Gerald Cox.

Don served his county in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Skyview Wesleyan Church in Tipp City, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bonnie (Timmons) Cox of Greenville, whom he married December 24, 1950; one brothers, Jerry Cox of Union City, Ohio; one sister, Deloris Katey of Florida; many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11am, Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Verl Light officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Fort Jefferson.

Kenneth H. Brock Jr. 60 of Versailles, Ohio passed away on Saturday November 1, 2014 at 4:18 AM at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. He was born June 11, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio; the son of Kenneth Homer Brock Sr. & step mother Phyllis of Tennessee and Pauline Marian (Brown) Brock of Dayton. He was a painting contractor and a member of the Cherokee Council.

He is preceded in death by his Grandparents: William & Gertrude Hayward; ½ Sister: Peggy Brock.

He is survived by his daughter: Dara Kindred Trissel and her husband Stacy; grandchildren: Victoria Grisez, Hannah Grisez, Josiah Grisez, Lila Grisez, Maris Trissel, & A.J. Jeffrey T. “Jeff” Keaser (October 31, 2014)

Jeffrey T. “Jeff” Keaser, 50, of Greenville, passed away Friday morning, October 31, 2014 at the Kindred Hospital in Dayton.

He was born July 4, 1964 in Greenville, son of Charles E. and Marie C. (Kaiser) Keaser of Greenville.

Jeff was a Motor Carrier Officer for the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He served on the Greenville Township Fire Department and formerly served with the Greenville Township Rescue. He was a founding trustee of Dalmatian Duo Fire Prevention Team. He was a member of the Greenville Grace Brethren Church, the Eagles, and a former member of the Moose.

He is survived by his wife, Ellie (Smith) Keaser, whom he married February 8, 2002; step children, Shawn Zerkle, Elizabeth Zerkle and Molly (Joe) Hool; a step granddaughter, Ashling Hool; brothers and sisters, Terry (Marge) Keaser, Susan (Mike) Treadway, Darlene (Greg) Grubb, and Allen (Nancy) Keaser; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sam and Ella Smith; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tina Harbison, Sam Smith, Jr., Emily Smith, and Kelly Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Services with full Firefighter Honors will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 8, at the Greenville Grace Brethren Church, 4805 St. Rt. 49 S., Greenville, with Pastor Danny Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, November 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 9 a.m. till time of service.

Patricia Louise Applegate (October 30, 2014)

Patricia Louise Applegate, 82, of Englewood, Ohio passed away on Thursday October 30, 2014 at 8:03 AM at Hospice of Dayton. She was born May 29, 1932 in Darke County, Ohio; the daughter of the late John & Mabel (Petry) Thompson. She grew up in the Coletown area and spent most of her life in this area and some of her time in Texas. She was the eldest sibling in her family and our most beloved mother and grandma and sister.

She was an accountant for Treaty Company; J.O. Berkley in Gettysburg; & Hyclog in Houston, Texas from which she retired. She was a member of Shiloh United Church of Christ and spent her retired years volunteering for her church and doing outreach for the less fortunate.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Nelson W. Applegate whom she married March 17, 1951.

She is survived by her daughter & son in law: Cheryl Nel Applegate & Timothy Mueller; son: Lonnie Applegate; grandchildren & spouse: Corey Applegate, Hannah & Jeremy Bargmann, Erin Schmitz, David Hawes; great grandchildren: Kirsten Applegate, Olivia Bargmann, Robert Hawes; Sisters & brother in law: Barbara Davis, Pam & Robert Anspach; brother & sister in law: Harold & Glenda Thompson; numerous well-loved nieces & nephews.

Gene Buchy (October 30, 2014)

Gene Buchy, age 81 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:55 A.M. Thursday October 30, 2014 at the Willow Brook Christian Home Columbus, Ohio. Gene was born June 6, 1933 in Greenville and the son of the late Gerhardt and Corinne (Murphy) Buchy.

Gene was a 1951 graduate of Greenville Senior High School and a 1956 graduate of Wittenberg University. After serving 2 years in the United States Army he began working at Ernst and Ernst doing general accounting. Gene returned to Greenville to work for Greenville National Bank and then M.C. Carr Accounting Firm where he became a Certified Public Account. Gene became a partner and the Firm became known as Carr and Buchy Accounting of Greenville, where Gene continued his professional career until retirement. In 1996 he opened Hummers Sports Bar of Greenville.

Gene was a very active member of the Greenville Elks Lodge holding its highest position of Grand Exulted Ruler and later went on to become State President and then Chairman of the Board of Grand Trustees for the Elks. Other lodge memberships would include Greenville Masonic Lodge, Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge, V.F.W. and the Greenville Liar’s Club. He was also a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Greenville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Todd Buchy.

Gene is survived by his son Mark (Elizabeth) Buchy of Westerville; daughter in law Brenda Buchy of Worthington; grandchildren Luke, Liam, Anna and Tara; Sister Janice (Roger) Marker of Centerville, Ohio and 1 niece and 1 nephew

Gene’s family will receive friends on Tuesday November 4, 2014 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio. There will be an Elks Lodge of Sorrow Service conducted at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday by the Greenville Elks Lodge follow by a Celebration of Life Service with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Private burial at the convenience of the family will be held in the Greenville Cemetery.

It was Gene’s request, that in lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions be given to the Elks National Foundation.

Lori A. Alexander (October 25, 2014)

Lori A. Alexander, age 44 of Toledo, Ohio passed away Saturday October 25, 2014.

She was born August 6, 1970 in Greenville, Ohio and the daughter of Vicki (Mills) “Alexander” Serna of Franklin, Indiana and Kenneth R. Alexander of Covington, Ohio.

Lori loved gardening and animals, specially dogs and cats.

Her survivors in addition to her parents are Sister Tina (Bill) VanBebber of Greenville; Brothers Mark Alexander of Greenville and Kevin (Lesley) Alexander of Kettering; nephew Justin VanBebber; niece Scarlett Alexander; maternal grandfather Doyle Mills of Greenville and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio. There will be no public visitation.

It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to The Leukemia and Lymphoma society or the Darke County Humane Society.
