Dawn Marie Cox, age 46, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 9:39 PM at her residence. She was born on April 19, 1966 in Brooklyn, New York, to her mother Esther C. (Bergdoll) Maley and step father Charles Maley of Shirley, New York.
In addition to her mother and step father she is survived by her sons, Gregory Cox of Austin, Texas, and Andrew Cox of Greenville. Dawn was preceded in death by her daughter Melanie Grace Cox.
Dawn was the receiving administrator for Beauty Service Group in Greenville, Ohio.
There will be a private service held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Fr. John R. White officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 5-7 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

C. Darrel Rowland, 75, of Ansonia, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 30, 2012, at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville.
He was born March 16, 1937 in Greenville, son of the late Graden and Margaret (Rhodus) Rowland, In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Ander; and brothers, William E. and Marvin K. Rowland.
A veteran of the US Army, Darrel had farmed his whole life as well as co-owned and operated Rowland Truck and Equipment, Inc. He had worked for several years as an operations manager at the former Westinghouse Electric in Union City.
He was a member of the Ansonia First Church of God. He had served 8 years on the Ansonia School Board, 4 of which as President. He had numerous other involvements and activities too numerous to list.
Darrel is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janet A. (Leis) Rowland; children, Connie and husband Tim Thomas of Springfield, OH, Rick Rowland of Medway, OH, Scott and wife Andrea Rowland of Ansonia; grandchildren, Shauna McComas, Glen (Bridget) Moyer, Jason (Jennifer) Moyer, Amanda Puckett, Tyler Rowland, Justin Rowland, Cody Rowland, Alexa Rowland, and Andrew Rowland; great grandchildren, Brandon, Nicholas, Rylee, Dylan, Jenna, Owen, Holden, Jayden and Landon; sisters, Carolyn (Dave) Long and Judith E. Norman is survived by his wife, Mary Alice (Sharp) Redman whom he married December 29, 1945; son & daughter-in-law, Stephen & Peggy Redman of Centerville; daughter & son-in-law, Alice & Mike Hogg of Greenville; grandchildren, Nathan & Michelle Redman, Christopher & Jessica Redman, and Whitney & Joe Arnett; great grandsons, Tyler & Alex Redman, and a great granddaughter expected in January of 2013; sister, Nancy Stump of Bradford; brother-in-law, Gene Sharp of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Norman retired from Frank Girbert Implement Inc. where he was a farm equipment salesman with 40 years of service. He also served 13 years with Greenville Rescue as a non-emergency driver. Norman was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Greenville where he was a trustee for 40 years and a dart ball captain. Norman was a 60 year member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge #143 F&AM; 32nd Degree Mason of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton; Antioch Shrine Club of Dayton; Darke County Shrine Club; and the Greenville American Legion.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Dr. Jim Vandermark officiating. Alice M. Marker, age 60 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:40 A.M. Tuesday October 30, 2012 at her residence. She was born August 30, 1952 in Greenville, Ohio and the daughter of the late Ora M. and Louise (Reisor) Marker.
Alice was retired from Corning Glass Inc. and later employed at the Darke County Learning Center.
She was a member and Past President of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary all of Greenville. Also was an avid golfer, Ohio State University fan, Cleveland Browns fan and had been an active volunteer with the Special Wish Foundation.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Connie Hushour.
Alice is survived by her brothers and sister in law Bob & Susan Marker of Winchester, Indiana and Jim Marker of Greenville. Also by her niece Melissa and Bobby Vore of Greenville and a nephew Todd and Sandie Marker of Ruskin, Florida.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday November 3, 2012 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Terry Haworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery. The family will receive fiends on Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Brian Michael Williams Mendenhall (October 27, 2012)
Brian enjoyed drawing and always had a sharpie or mechanical pencil with him. He loved to draw floor plans, cars, crosses and skulls. Brian loved video games, especially The Need for Speed and Call of Duty. Brian was an 8th grade student at Tri Village Schools. He loved to hang out with the big guys and with his best friend, Aiden. He enjoyed going to church and hanging with Grandma Becky. Brian was a prankster and would often cause trouble. He enjoyed drinking dark sodas, chewing gum and eating saltine crackers. The family said if Brian could tell everyone one last thing it would be... "Be nicer, show more love, and know that I love you all".
Brian is preceded in death by his grandfather, Larry Mendenhall; grandmother, Debra "Deb" Crick and step grandfather, Gary Skaggs.
In addition to his parents, Brian is survived by two sisters, Nicole Mendenhall, and Kinita and Adam Crumley both of Greenville; grandmother, Rebecca Skaggs of Greenville; grandfather, Harrison Morgan of Kentucky; three uncles, Joey Skaggs, Shawn Mendenhall and Robbie and Rennett Mendenhall all of Greenville; two aunts Missy and Brickton Ginger of Greenville, and Tonya Mendenhall of Ansonia; a nephew, Aiden Crumley of Greenville and numerous friends and family who mourn his passing.

Margaret "Meg" Best, 37, of Greenville, passed away Thursday morning, October 25, 2012 at the Sycamore Hospital in Miamisburg.
She was born July 19, 1975 in Greenville, daughter of Howard W. "Bud", Jr. and Sue E. (Eubank) Best of Castine.
Meg had worked as a security guard at the Holiday Inn in Miamisburg and was a bartender at many different establishments.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her sisters, Shari (Jeff) Wappelhorst of Greenville, Rebecca Best of Australia, and Elizabeth Best of Castine; nieces and nephews, Mariah and Joey Wappelhorst, Zeph and Addy Cass, and Josie Best; and her little dog, Tiny. She had lost her two other pets, Jake and Cera Dwyn.
It was Meg's request for a private celebration of her life at a later date.
There will be no public visitation. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be sent to State of the Heart Hospice, 1350 N. Broadway St., Greenville, OH 45331.

Twila J. Laird Potts, age 94, formerly of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 3:30 AM at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. She was born on April 19, 1918 in Arcanum, Ohio, to the late Russell & Clara (Cassell) Julien.
She is survived by daughters, Leila Markland & husband Doyle of Arcanum, Ohio, and Christine Peters and husband Michael of Ooltewah, Tennessee; son, Kevin M. Laird of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter in law, Nancy Laird of Springfield, Illinois; 9 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother, Rev. Thomas Julien of Warsaw, Indiana; sister and brother in law, Beth & David Flora of Arcanum, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Laird in 1981; second husband, John Potts in 2003; son, Ross J. Laird; brothers, Edward and J.R. Julien; sisters, Annabel Gilbert and Rosalie Arnett.
Twila was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Arcanum, Ohio. She retired in 1979 as the Office Manager of Blevins Popcorn Company in Arcanum and then from Arcanum Hardware as the bookkeeper.
There will be a service held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church, 101 East South Street, Arcanum, Ohio, with Pastor Dave Pettengill officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

She was born March 18, 1940 in Rossburg, OH, daughter of the late Herman and Pauline (Houscher) Whittaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Nevin Whittaker and Donald Whittaker; and a sister, Doris Anthony.
She is survived by her children, Robert E., Jr. (Pam) Anthony of New Madison, Eileen (Tony) Page of Waller, TX, Terry Anthony of Ansonia, Roger Anthony of Ansonia, Roxann (Drew) Meadows of Ansonia, Diane (Eddie) Rubio of Waller, TX, and Rodney Anthony of Ansonia; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Martha Lumpkin of Union City, Marion Whittaker of Greenville, Marceil Hecht of Greenville, Ralph Whittaker of Arcanum, Darrel Whittaker of Versailles, Roger Whittaker of Arcanum, Nancy Jones of Rossburg, Jeannie Unger of Troy, and Robert Whittaker of Tipp City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donna Marie (Baker) Hite (October 22, 2012)
Donna Marie (Baker) Hite, 77, of Greenville passed away peacefully on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Heartland of Greenville. Donna was born on January 19, 1935 in New Madison to the late Charles and Juanita (Baker) Eley.
Donna was a graduate of the Westmont High School graduating class in 1953. She enjoyed reading, working in her flower gardens and cooking. She was a member of the Ft. Jefferson United Methodist Church and enjoyed being involved in the women's ministry and helping with their mother/daughter banquets. Donna loved teaching Sunday School and she was a past board member of the Protestant Women of the Chapel. One of her most favorite things was being a grandma and spending time with her grandchildren.
Donna is survived by her husband of 33 years, Daniel Hite of Greenville; three daughters, Donna Joy and Glenn Hampson of Montgomery, Illinois, Deann and Gorden Owens of Maysville, Kentucky, and Darla Renee Smith of Greenville; two step daughters, Brenda Sue Hite of Pennsylvania and Alica Joan Hite of Pennsylvania; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchild; two brothers, Jack and Mary Baker of Indiana, and Richard and Shirley Baker of Greenville.

Marie A. Neff, age 75 of Celina, Ohio and formerly of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 2:30 A.M. Monday October 22, 2012 at The Garden At Celina Nursing Home. Marie was born April 20, 1937 in Richmond, Indiana and the daughter of the late Lewis and Esther (Rhoades) Grote.
She was a homemaker and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary, and Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliary all of Greenville. Marie was also an active volunteer with the Wayne Hospital Auxiliary and had been a member of the committee for Annie Oakley Days, serving as President.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold H. Neff, May 11, 1999. Also by numerous brothers and sisters.
Marie is survived by her son and daughter in law Steven Alan and Ruth Ann Neff of Perrysburg; daughter Connie Sue Clark of Celina; grandchildren Emily (Shaun) Koester, Kyle (Danielle) Thwaits, and Kathryn Neff. Also great grandchildren Hannah Koester, Beau Koester and Danica Koester.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 A.M. Friday October 26, 2012 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor John Nunnally officiating. Ralph L. Bemis, 93, of Bradenton, FL, and formerly of Union City area, passed away Sunday evening, October 21, 2012 at the Casa Mora Rehab and Extended Care in Bradenton, FL.
He was born February 19, 1919 in Union City, IN, son of the late E.C. and Melissa (Mangas) Bemis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia M. (Martin) Bemis; 2nd wife, Edna Bemis; three sisters, Esther Anderson, Velma Cooper, and Reva Hummel; and three brothers, Kenny, Phil, and Lowell Bemis.
Ralph spent most of his life farming and trading livestock. After moving to Florida he ran a mowing service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #143 of Greenville, OH for over 50 years.
He is survived by a son, Ronald (Dianne) Bemis of Chesterfield, MO; a sister, Betty Dotson of Union City, OH; and brothers, Gilbert Bemis of Union City, IN., and Don (Naomi) Bemis of Versailles; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 25, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.

Ralph "Whitey" Smith, 82, of New Madison went to be with the Lord on October 18, 2012 at Reid Hospital in Richmond. Ralph was born on August 13, 1930 to the late Robert and Margaret (Booher) Smith.
Ralph retired from Sheller Globe after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren and attended the New Madison United Methodist Church. He recently worked as an attendant at the New Madison Laundry Mat. Ralph enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds play baseball, drinking coffee with friends at Firpo's, listening to Bluegrass music and most of all having dinner and spending time with the kids and grandkids. He served his nation honorably in the United States Navy.
In addition to his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Smith and sisters Grace Hahn and Jean Barker.

Sandra M. Cwik age 70, passed away at 8:15 P.M. on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at her daughter’s residence in Hampstead, North Carolina. Sandra was born March 31, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Peter & Peggy Cwik.
Sandra is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Brenda & H.B. Rosie is survived by her daughters & son-in-law, Linda & Jerry Barhorst of Versailles and Vicki Hahn of Huber Heights; son & daughter-in-law, William & Connie Hahn of Dayton; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 expected great grandchildren; and sisters, Doris Jean Milthaler of Tipp City and Dorothy Ellen Rambo of Vandalia.

Albert B. Hartzell, age 77 of Ansonia, Ohio passed away at 5:56 P.M. Tuesday October 16, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 15, 1935 in Darke County, Ohio and the son of the late William Henry and Isabell (Abernathy) Hartzell.
Albert was retired as a mechanic from Schultz Motors of Greenville and prior to that had been employed at the former Harter Shell Station also of Greenville. He was a member of the Ansonia American Legion and was an avid mechanic his entire life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Donald LeRoy Hartzell, Charles Raymond Hartzell, Robert Eugene Hartzell and James Ray Hartzell. Also by a sister Nancy Carol Lucas.
Albert is survived by his significant other Theresa (Monnin) Hartzell of Greenville. Also by his children Alan B. & Lisa Hartzell of Arcanum and Debra Marie & Greg Pollic of Rossburg. Step children Carl Guillozet of London, Ohio, Dan & Jeannie Guillozet of Greenville, Mike & Carrie Guillozet of Ansonia, Ron & Michelle Guillozet of Greenville and Sheila Miller of Greenville. In addition to her parents, Ruthanna is preceded in death by her sister, Helen Hodgin; son in law, Kenny Farmer; and a sister in law, Ruth Falknor.

Fred is survived by his wife, Barbara (Murphy) Van Kirk whom he married March 21, 1984; children, Bill & Beth Van Kirk of Kansas City, Jill Van Kirk of Tucson, Arizona and Timothy & Jaye Van Kirk of San Diego, California; step children, Kathleen Ellis of Kansas City, Missouri, Michael McLaughlin of Ogden, Utah and Matthew & Geralyn McLaughlin of Cincinnati; and grandchildren, Max Van Kirk, Jack Van Kirk, Kelley Ellis, Shannon Ellis, Thomas McLaughlin and Maria McLaughlin.
In addition to his parents, Fred is also preceded in death by his brothers, Everett, Ora, Rollin and Melvin Van Kirk; and a sister, Alice Rhoton.
Fred was a graduate of West Milton High School with the Class of 1944. Fred served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and received a Purple Heart Medal. Fred was a farmer and retired from Chrysler Air Temp in Dayton. He lived on his farm near Arcanum for nearly 50 years.

Mrs. A. Irene Light, age 89, of Granger, Indiana, and formerly of Darke County, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 3:40 PM at her residence. She was born on September 25, 1923 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Roy L. & Ruth (Byers) Landis.

Irene is remembered by her family and friends as one of the sweetest, kindest, most loving souls, and was admired for her cheerful upbeat attitudes in spite of many painful and heart breaking episodes that she experienced throughout her lifetime.

John H. Beasley, 92, of Greenville, and formerly of Ansonia, passed away Monday morning, October 8, 2012 at Oakley House in Greenville.
He was born September 5, 1920 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Vernon and Emma G. (Hoffman) Beasley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Onda M. Beasley on July 1, 2009; and 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
John was a lifelong farmer in the Ansonia area. He was a charter member of the Darke County Steam Threshers having been a member for over 50 years. He was an avid auction goer and was known by the alias "J.B." on Market Time.
He is survived by his children, Dan (Ruth) Beasley of Rossburg, Dennis (Carol) Beasley of Greenville, and Donna (Jim) Maxfield of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Danny (Lin) Beasley, Lisa (Travis) Brown and Kara Maxfield; great grandchildren, Holly, Lucy, Amber, Garrett and Emma; a great great grandchildren, Adian and Ava.

Bob had driven truck most of his life.

John Edward “Jack” DeLaet, age 79, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 10:40 PM at his son’s residence in Larchmont, New York. Jack was a native of Versailles, Ohio, and was born on April 12, 1933 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Edward & Leona (Pleiman) Delaet.
He is survived by his wife Sandra (Snow) DeLaet of Bradenton, Florida, whom he married on September 3, 1966; children, Cynthia & Nick Eilerman of Versailles, Ohio, Debra DeLaet & Todd Knoop of Iowa City, Iowa, Dr. David & Rebecca DeLaet of Larchmont, New York, and Edward DeLaet of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Kyle, Ben, and Emily Eilerman, Edie and Daphne DeLaet Knoop, Jack and Allison DeLaet; and great grandchildren, Claire, Olivia and Alexander Eilerman.
Jack was a CPA and partner in McCrate, DeLaet and Company, retiring in 1993. Jack is a member of St. Denis Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Versailles High School and Miami University, later serving in the United States Army. He was a board member of the Versailles Savings and Loan, past president of the Lions Club in Versailles, past president of the Optimist Club in Sidney, past member of the Versailles Library Board, and past member of the Versailles Swimming Pool Board. He is survived by his wife Sandra (Snow) DeLaet of Bradenton, Florida, whom he married on September 3, 1966; children, Cynthia & Nick Eilerman of Versailles, Ohio, Debra DeLaet & Todd Knoop of Iowa City, Iowa, Dr. David & Rebecca DeLaet of Larchmont, New York, and Edward DeLaet of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Kyle, Ben, and Emily Eilerman, Edie and Daphne DeLaet Knoop, Jack and Allison DeLaet; and great grandchildren, Claire, Olivia and Alexander Eilerman.
Jack was a CPA and partner in McCrate, DeLaet and Company, retiring in 1993. Jack is a member of St. Denis Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Versailles High School and Miami University, later serving in the United States Army. He was a board member of the Versailles Savings and Loan, past president of the Lions Club in Versailles, past president of the Optimist Club in Sidney, past member of the Versailles Library Board, and past member of the Versailles Swimming Pool Board. Tyler J. Kuhn, 19 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday October 2, 2012 at 7:16 AM. He was born April 22, 1993 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Tim & Barb (Bauman) Kuhn of Greenville, Ohio. He was a graduate of Greenville High School where he was in the engineering program and played baseball, he was studying Aviation Engineering at Sinclair Community College, he worked at Taco Bell. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville where he was active in the youth group.

Robert C. Idle, 88, of Greenville, formerly of New Weston, Ohio passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio.
He was born September 24, 1924 in Covington,Ohio, son of the late Thomas V. and Edna G. (Hoblet) Idle. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda L. (Brewer) Idle; sons, Robert Idle, William Idle,Dwight David Idle; sisters, Hazel Kelly,Irene Feight; brothers, Raymond G. Idle,William V. ("Bud") Idle; grandchildren, Rob Idle, Ben Winger, Josh Rammel and Joey Rammel.
Robert was a veteran of the Army having served during WWII. He was a trucker for 23 years. He served on the Sheriff's POSSE in Marion Indiana in 1965, and was a dedicated harmonica player.
He is survived by his daughters; Cheryl A. Ruse, Phyllis Poling, Diana L. Idle, Mindy K. Rammel, Marilyn J. (Ray) Darner, Schanda R. (Richie) Black, Wanda F. Hicks; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter; extended family, Misti Crowell, Dalton Draper and Rhonda Black; and several nieces and nephews.
Services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 6 at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio. Burial will follow in the Miami Memorial Park, near Covington, Ohio.

Raymond E. Freshour (October 1, 2012)
Raymond E. Freshour, 93, of Greenville, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville Ohio.
He was born August 6, 1919 in New Cumberland, West Virginia, son of the late Roy Minor and Arzona Belle (Tingler) Freshour. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Stacey Freshour.
Raymond was a self employed carpenter. a Sergeant for the Butler County Sheriff Department. He was a member of the first Mounted Patrol for Butler County. Raymond was Chief of Police for Monroe where he developed their first K-9 Unit. He also work as a maintenance manager at Pirate Land in Mytle Beach, SC. He was a good dad and grandpa. He loved to do woodworking,traveling and walking on the beach.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ella Mae (Robb) Freshour; his children, Joyce (Carl) Jones, Bonnie (Reese) Williams, Faith (Dennis) Miller, Roy (Debbie) Freshour, Amy (Phillip) Wollebeck; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren a sister, Dorothy Sroufe.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4, at the Oliver-Floyd funeral home with Chaplin Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery.

Mark M. Randall, age 53, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 6:45 A.M. on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Village Green Healthcare Center, Greenville. Mark was born August 30, 1959, in Dayton, Ohio, son of Dorothy (Ponder) Randall of Greenville and the late Glen Randall.
In addition to his mother, Mark is survived by his sister, Shirley Thompson of Greenville, as well as his fiancée, Tina Freeman of Ontario, Canada.
Mark worked in law enforcement in Dayton for 15 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church and loved cats, football and motorcycle races.
In addition to his father he is preceded in death by his brother in law, Ron Thompson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon on Friday, October 5, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 233 W. Third Street, Greenville, with Rev. Father John R.White celebrant.
