Betty Louise Silcott age 88, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 4:50 A.M. on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Betty was born April 19, 1924 in Darke County to the late Lewis Scott & Mary Lucille (Wilson) Fitzgerald.
Betty is survived by her son, James “Jim” Doss & special friend, Shirley Allread of Greenville; daughters & sons-in-law, Karen & Douglas Lowder of Greenville and Sharon & Ray Wintrow of Greenville; 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; brothers & sisters-in-law, Donald & Judy Fitzgerald of Greenville and Robert & Maxine Fitzgerald of Greenville; sisters & brother-in-law, Norma Baker of Greenville and Marthalie & Vern Tracey of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty is also preceded in death by a husband, Earnest Silcott on August 17, 2000; daughter, Pam Marshall; son, Robert Lee Doss Jr.; brother, Charles Fitzgerald; and sisters, Joan Messmore and Mary Lou Newbauer.
Betty cooked at the Darke County Home for 25 years and was also a homemaker. Betty was a charter member of the Darke County Singles Club; member of the Greenville Moose; Greenville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary; Greenville V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary; Greenville Eagles; Senior Citizens Card Club; and Public Employees Retired Seniors.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens in Darke County. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
