Donald Lynn Nutter, 71, of Greenville, passed away on April 28, 2014 at Brethren Retirement Community. Donald was born on July 28, 1942 in St. Francis, Kansas to the late Robert Bliss and Lois Maxine (Hunt) Nutter.
Donald was a member of Cedar Grove Church. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing.
Donald is survived by his wife, Carol Ann (Cheek) Nutter of Greenville; a son, Raymond and Linda Nutter of Englewood; two daughters, Gatha and Bill Thompson of New Castle, Indian and Debra and Doran Garber of Spokane, Washington; six grandchildren, Sean Haynes, Charity Haynes, Samantha Nutter, Collin Nutter, Eli Garber and Erin Garber; a brother, Vernon and Luella Nutter of McPherson, Kansas; and a sister, Lorita and Frank Thompson of Seneca, Missouri.
Friends and family may visit on Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 4 -7 p.m. at Braund Pope Funeral Home in New Madison. Private services will be held later at the convenience of the family. Alice Mae (Hunt) Garland, age 70, Greenville, Ohio passed away on Saturday April 26, 2014 at 4:10 AM at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center. She was born November 2, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio the daughter of the late Early Clay & Grace Helen (Bohanan) Hunt. She was a homemaker and a member of Women of the Moose Lodge # 329 and American Legion Post # 140.

June A. (Hawlik) Clevenger, 76, formerly of New Madison and Greenville, passed away late Thursday afternoon, April 24, 2014 at the Covington Care Center in Covington, OH.
She was born October 4, 1937 in Cincinnati, daughter of the late Herschel and Addis (Coe) Hawlik. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Clevenger on February 8, 2000; a son, Gary R. Clevenger on September 16, 2006; and a brother, Herschel Hawlik.
A homemaker, June was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Jay A. Clevenger of New Madison, Constance A. Stonerock of Greenville, David J. (Debbie) Clevenger of Troy, Lynn M. (Kim Lyons) Berning of Pitsburg, Steven P. Clevenger of Washington, Patty (Brad) Bragg of Union City, IN, and Laura J. Clevenger of Greenville; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Roger Hawlik of Dallas, TX; a sister, Janice Stiver of Lewisburg, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

Paul served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of Castine Church of the Brethren and American Legion Post #245 in New Madison. Paul had worked for Arcanum -Butler as a custodian and a bus driver. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by, two sons, Lewis Hershel Karn and Paul Karn Jr.; four sisters and seven brothers.
Paul is survived by his wife of 64 years, Susie Alice (Baker) Karn of Greenville: three sons, Allen Karn of Arcanum, Gene and Jean Karn of Medway, Ohio, Tom and Carolina Karn of Texas; three daughters, Hazel Meyers of Greenville, Judy and Paul Riner of Indianapolis, and Edie and Rick Detz of Virginia; 18 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and several great, great grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Johnson of Greenville.

He was born October 8, 1946 in Darke County, Ohio the son of the late Francis X. & Marjorie A. (Berger) Bey. He retired from Daimler Chrylser in Dayton on January 31, 1997 after 30 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenville Elks Lodge; Greenville Eagles; American Legion Post #140; Greenville Moose Lodge; he loved to hunt, bowl, golf, and play cards.

Norma E. Eby, 89, of Greenville, passed away April 22, 2014 at Sterling House. She was born October 26, 1924 in Greenville, a daughter of the late Rufus and Pearl (Deeter) Stump.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Norma was a member of the Bible Fellowship Church. She was a faithful wife, loving mother and caring grandmother. She loved her family and devoted her life to tending to the needs of everyone and to spoiling her grandchildren.
She leaves behind her husband of 71 years, Ray Eby, whom she married May 24, 1942; 2 children, Dean (Chris) Eby of Greenville, OH, and Barbara (Ed) Reck of Lancaster, OH; 4 grandchildren, Tricia (Brandon) Fellers of Troy, OH, Kelly (Brian) Freed of Reynoldsburg, OH, Robyn (David Mikesell) Flanery of New Madison, OH and Amy (Jeremy) Lloyd of Lancaster, OH; 7 great grandchildren, Alexia West, Hayley Branch, Michael Fellers, Britney Branch, Macy Fellers, Ethan and Eli Flanery; 2 step-great grandchildren, Lauryn and Grace Lloyd, and one sister, Nola Oler of Greenville, OH; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Gerald E. “Jerry” Williams, age 79 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 1:55 P.M. Sunday April 20, 2014 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center Greenville, Ohio. Jerry was born May 23, 1934 in Plain City, Ohio and the son of the late Leland and Eleanor (Bishop) Williams.
He retired in 1989 following a 35 year career with American Aggregates Corporation where he held the position as Safety Director and Workers Comp Administrator.
Jerry was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greenville, a 50 +year member of the Plain City Masonic Lodge, had been an active horseshoe pitcher and involved in bringing the World Horseshoe Tournament to Greenville several years ago. Also enjoyed playing golf and working outside in the garden.
He is survived by his wife Roberta M. (Hobbs) Williams of Greenville. They were married June 27, 1964. Also by his brother Elwood Williams of Plain City and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday April 24, 2014 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Gerald Steele officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. There will be a Masonic Memorial Service held at 7:45 P.M. Wednesday by the Greenville Masonic Lodge.

Shirley was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles where she formerly served on the Parish Council and was a Lay Distributor. Shirley retired from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Greenville where she was a Deputy Registrar. She formerly worked at the Versailles Policy. Shirley was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles where she formerly served on the Parish Council and was a Lay Distributor. Mary Catherine Wilson, 86, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday morning, April 15, 2014 at Oakley Place in Greenville.
She was born July 26, 1927, in Greenville, daughter of the late Harold Lehman and Edna Marie (McCabe) Wilson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Ethel Marie (Wilson) and Fred Stephan; a niece, Connie Fetzer; and a nephew, Ronald Stephan.
Mary Catherine had owned and operated the former Brateman's Women Wear in Greenville from 1977 to 1990. A 1945 graduate of Greenville High School, she was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville, and the Business Professional Woman Association in which she had served as president, Darke County Republican Party in which she was named Republican of the Year in 2002. She was also a member of the Ft. Greenville D.A.R., the Darke County McGuffie Club, Rebekah Lodge #266, the Darke County Chamber of Commerce having served on the Board of Directors, and she loved to play the organ.
Mary Catherine was the first write-in candidate to win election to the Greenville City Council in 1983. She had authored a book called "Broadway Memories". In retirement, she loved to travel and take bus trips.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Carol A. (Mike) Denton of Lynn, IN, James Fetzer of Clarkston, MI, Jackie Stephan of Lynn, IN; and great nieces and nephews, Lanett, Jerimy, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Aaron; great great nieces, Morgan and Kaibre; a very good friend, Norma Knick; and several cousins and close friends.

Hobart L. Gilbert age 73, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:35 A.M. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at his residence. Hobart was born April 30, 1940 in Evarts, Kentucky to the late Cecil Gilbert & Dorothy (Bunch) Gilbert Owens.
Hobart is survived by his companion, Jane Ganger of Greenville, Ohio; children, Jackie Jackson of Greenville, Ohio, Tony Gilbert of Union City, Ohio, Terry Gilbert of Greenville, Ohio, Bobby Gilbert of Greenville, Ohio and Toby Gilbert of Greenville, Ohio; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Lou Summers of Greenville, Ohio.

Valerie G. (Prim) Jones, 58, of Greenville, went to be with her Savior on April 11, 2014 at her residence. Valerie was born on September 23, 1955 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Lester and Doris (Rudolph) Prim.
Valerie enjoyed being a homemaker during her life. Her passions included Bible studies, praise and worship, reading books, being a caretaker and encouraging people. Valerie was a great writer and loved to laugh. Her greatest joys were spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, Valerie is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth "Ken" Jones who passed away on October 29, 1996; a brother, Byron Prim and an infant sister, Gloria May Prim.

Terence Joseph Schwanitz (April 10th, 2014)
Terence Joseph Schwanitz, 85, having fought a long and courageous battle, passed away at home in Greenville, Ohio on the morning of April 10th, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 26th, 1928 in Port Austin, Michigan, son of the late George and Mae (Clancy) Schwanitz, on the family farm and was the third of six children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Heyboer, and two brothers, George "Bud" Schwanitz and Patrick Schwanitz. He was a 1946 graduate of Bad Axe High School in Bad Axe, Michigan, attended Wayne State University in Detroit and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Judy (Yaroch) Schwanitz; his six children, Gary (Sharon) Schwanitz of Troy; Jan Teaford of Greenville; Dan (Paula) Schwanitz of Greenville; Neil (Ging) Schwanitz of Marshall Islands; Beth (Bill) VanKirk of Kansas; and Tina (Jeff) Waltke of Georgia; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph (Barb) Schwanitz and Mike Schwanitz of Michigan; brothers in-law and sisters-in- law Rich (Alice) Yaroch and Larry (Florence) Yaroch of Michigan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He started his career as a tool and die maker for Hall Lamp in Detroit. He was an engineer with Jervis, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and then went on to become the Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Sheller Globe Corporation in Union City, Indiana, and the Chief Product Engineer at Siegel-Robert, Inc. in St. Louis.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Parish, the Knights of Columbus, and the Greenville Elks. More than anything, he loved his wife and family. He was a devoted and amazing husband, father, and grandfather. Despite many years of declining health, he never lost his sense of humor.
Before he left this world, he asked that we thank everyone who touched his life and made his journey easier. Thank you for the kindness, prayers, and the love shown to him and his family.
A Memorial Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:30 A.M. Monday April 14, 2014 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church 233 West Third St., Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Father John R. White celebrating. There will be no visitation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Heyboer, and two brothers, George "Bud" Schwanitz and Patrick Schwanitz. He was a 1946 graduate of Bad Axe High School in Bad Axe, Michigan, attended Wayne State University in Detroit and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Judy (Yaroch) Schwanitz; his six children, Gary (Sharon) Schwanitz of Troy; Jan Teaford of Greenville; Dan (Paula) Schwanitz of Greenville; Neil (Ging) Schwanitz of Marshall Islands; Beth (Bill) VanKirk of Kansas; and Tina (Jeff) Waltke of Georgia; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph (Barb) Schwanitz and Mike Schwanitz of Michigan; brothers in-law and sisters-in- law Rich (Alice) Yaroch and Larry (Florence) Yaroch of Michigan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He started his career as a tool and die maker for Hall Lamp in Detroit. He was an engineer with Jervis, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and then went on to become the Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Sheller Globe Corporation in Union City, Indiana, and the Chief Product Engineer at Siegel-Robert, Inc. in St. Louis.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Parish, the Knights of Columbus, and the Greenville Elks. More than anything, he loved his wife and family. He was a devoted and amazing husband, father, and grandfather. Despite many years of declining health, he never lost his sense of humor.
Before he left this world, he asked that we thank everyone who touched his life and made his journey easier. Thank you for the kindness, prayers, and the love shown to him and his family.
A Memorial Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:30 A.M. Monday April 14, 2014 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church 233 West Third St., Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Father John R. White celebrating. There will be no visitation.

Stanley L. Johnson, age 86, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 2:40 a.m. at Oakley House in Greenville, Ohio. He was born on December 19, 1927, in Preble County, Ohio, to the late James & Lora (Stover) Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Howdieshell Burns) Johnson, of Arcanum, Ohio, whom he married on March 6, 1976; daughter, Sandra (Joe) Thomas of Arcanum, Ohio; son, Michael (Brenda) Johnson of West Manchester, Ohio; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; stepdaughter, Sherry (Steve) Hubler; stepsons, Kent Burns, Kris (Shelley) Burns, and Kraig Burns; ten step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Johnson.
Stanley was a farmer for 30 years and also a bus driver for Arcanum Butler Local Schools for 26 years. He attended Castine Church of the Brethren and loved camping and traveling.
Services will be held Monday, April 14, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Castine Church of the Brethren with Pastor ¬Gary Cloyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenmound Cemetery, New Madison, Ohio. He was born March 26, 1936 in Darke County, Ohio, son of the late Daniel W. and Anna May (Gause) Gehron. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marie E. (Rose) Gehron who passed away August 29, 2004; and a sister, Bernice Rhodes.
Melvin was retired from Corning of Greenville and New Idea of Coldwater. He had served in the Korean War while in the Army. He was a member of the American Legion of North Star, North Star Fire Department and Corning retirees.

Bob White, 76, of Greenville, passed away Thursday morning, April 3, 2014 at his residence.
He was born March 16, 1938 in Logan, WV, son of the late Ray and Estie (Hager) White. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother and 2 sisters.
Bob had retired from the former Valor Enterprises where he had worked a sales representative. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was a member of the Elk’s, Eagle’s, Moose, Greenville Masonic Lodge #143, Scottish Rite and the Darke County Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sondra K. (Shiverdecker) White, whom he married September 27, 1980; children, Michelle (Scott) Ritchie, Carl (Tina) Hoskins, Tracy (John) Schmidt, Roberta White, and Chuck White; grandchildren, Evan, Scotty, Heather, Jessica, Tricia, Courtney, Tiffany, Isaac, and David.

Lee Elsass, age 80 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:10 P.M. Thursday March 27, 2014 at the Miami Valley Hospital Dayton, Ohio. He was born June 1, 1933 in Clarksville, Ohio and the son of the late Harry John and Ava Della (Bagford) Elsass.
Lee was retired following a 33 year career as an Elementary School Principal and teacher. He also had served in the military during peacetime, a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Elk’s Lodge and a Lifetime member of the Optimist Club, all of Greenville and a member of the Ohio and Darke County Retired Teachers Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara (Wilt) Elsass October 5, 2013. They were married August 25, 1957.

Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard at the funeral home Monday morning.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
