Wilma Grace Green (January 30, 2012)

Wilma Grace Green, age 61, of Hollansburg, Ohio, passed away on January 30, 2012 at 1:25 AM at her residence. She was born on August 16, 1950 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Virgil & Grace (Huffaker) Short.

She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Christine & John Cela of New Madison, Ohio, Angela Green and fiancé John Bozarth of Greenville, Ohio, and Connie & Robbie Parker of Connersville, Indiana; grandchildren, Heather Davis, Caitlin Davis, Raider Cela, Alanna Cela, Ashley Green, Madison York, Johnnie Bozarth, and Sidney Parker; as well as her father in law and mother in law, Marvin & Naomi Green and their children.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny C. Green whom she married on July 29, 1967.

Wilma worked at the Darke County Job and Family Services for 22 years as a Child Support Case Manager. She loved quilting, sewing, reading, painting, gardening, cooking, and most of all her grandchildren.

There will be a service held on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Doug Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Goshen Cemetery in Wayne County, Indiana. Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 6-9 PM at the funeral home.

Mary Bess Beasecker (January 30, 2012)

Mary Bess Beasecker, age 91, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 4:30 AM at the Brethren Retirement Community. She was born on December 26, 1920 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Ester & Alma (Thompson) Fiebiger.

Mary is survived by her brothers and sister in law, Guy Fiebiger of Augusta, Georgia, and Fred & Anna Fiebiger of Troy, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Beasecker whom she married on August 9, 1941; brothers, Ralph, Judson and Donald Fiebiger; sisters, Eva Fiebiger, Marjorie Brewer, Ruby Embree, and Lillian Cotterman.

Mary worked as an Executive Secretary at General Motors Detroit Diesel Allison Division in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greenville, Ohio, where she was a past member of the choir, First Christian Church in Versailles, Ohio, and the Eastern Star.

There will be a service held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, 202 West 4th Street, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Joe Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Dayton Memorial Park in Dayton, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Thursday one hour prior to the service at church. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Gale E. Baker (January 29, 2012)

Gale E. Baker, age 89 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Sunday January 29, 2012 at 5:27 AM at his residence. He was born August 31, 1922 in Darke County, Ohio the son of the late Ray E. & Lillie (Ryan) Baker. He worked as a machinist and tool maker at New Deal Tool and Machine Company, Dayton, Ohio.

He served in the United States Army 83th Infantry Division during World War II where he was a prisoner of war in Germany for 138 days. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 2 Bronze Battle Stars, & 2 Overseas Service Bars.

He was a member of the Church of Christ, Greenville, Ohio, Disabled American Veterans Darke County Chapter # 57, Greenville VFW # 7262, Greenville American Legion Post # 140, also the 40/8 at the American Legion, Greenville Moose Lodge # 329, former member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, Louisville, Kentucky, former member of the 83th Infantry Division Association, Kentucky Chapter.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 1st Wife: Irene L. Baker on January 13, 1999; brothers: Cecil & Willard Baker; sister: Betty Mailhot

He is survived by his wife: Ethel May (Crail) Baker of Greenville; sons & daughters in law: Steven & Karen Baker of Greenville, Ron & Shirley Baker of Arcanum, Gale D. Robert Lee Shepherd (January 27, 2012)

Robert Lee Shepherd, age 72 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Friday January 27, 2012 at 3:45 AM at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. He was born April 24, 1939 in Dayton, Ohio the son of the late Sonny & Ruby (Rae) Shepherd. He served in the United States Army. He worked in road construction.

He was a member of the Darke County Fish & Game Club & the Fox Run Euchre Club.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Sister: Freda Mclain.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Geraldine (Barnes) Shepherd of Greenville; Children & spouses: Alice & Walt Brown of Greenville, Bob Shepherd Jr. & girlfriend Shirley Rogers of Vandalia, Leon Shepherd of Greenville, Ray & Melissa Shepherd of Englewood, Sam Shepherd & girlfriend Tish Smith of Greenville; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers: Jim Shepherd of Eaton, Ray Shepherd of Eaton, Don Shepherd of Eaton; numerous nieces, nephews & in laws.

Harry E. Brown (January 25, 2012)

Harry E. Brown, age 94, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 8:05 P.M. at Versailles Health Care Center. Harry was born on March 30, 1917 in Preble County, Ohio, to late Ira & Christine (Gebhart) Brown.

Harry established Brown’s Sweet Shop in Versailles in 1939 where he was still active in its operation. Harry was a veteran of the US Navy. Harry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Versailles; Versailles Masonic Lodge #290 F&AM, 32nd degree Mason of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton; the Versailles VFW and a Charter member of the Versailles Eagles Lodge.

In addition to his parents, Harry is also preceded in death by his wife Dola L. (Bunger) Brown on June 7, 2008 whom he married on January 18, 1939.

Harry is survived by his son, Larry Brown of Versailles; daughter & son-in-law, Arlene & Harold Keiser of North Star; grandchildren, Cynthia Keiser of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Kurt & Niccole Keiser of North Star; 3 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and great nieces & great nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church 204 East Wood Street Versailles, Ohio with Pastor Robert Akins officiating. William “Bill” Cromwell (January 26, 2012)

William “Bill” Cromwell, age 82 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Thursday January 26, 2012 at 7:30 AM at Arbor Trace Care Facility, Richmond, Indiana. He was born May 13, 1929 in New Madison, Ohio the son of the late John & Edith (Brown) Cromwell. He retired from Treaty Company after 43 years 80 days as a purchasing agent.

He was a 50 year member of the Greenville Elks Lodge, The Greenville Geezers Golf Group at the Greenville Golf Course, He umpired and refereed basketball and baseball for 37 years, he was an avid golfer, he loved playing cards & camping; he enjoyed going to Florida during the winter; and was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals, & the Ohio State Buckeyes.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Joe & Lloyd Cromwell.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Kathleen (Rismiller) Cromwell of Greenville; daughter & son in law: Beverly & Noel Kaech of Springfield, Ohio; sons & daughter in law: David & Alice Cromwell of Dallas, Texas, Dan Cromwell of Greenville; grandchildren: Emily & Nicholas; brother & sister in law: Russell & Frances Cromwell of Pawleys Island, S.C.; sisters in law: Joan Sellman of Tucson, Arizona, Charline Rismiller of Greenville; numerous nieces & nephews.

Leah G. Rhoades, age 100, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on January 26, 2012 at 10:20 AM at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio. She was born on May 19, 1911 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Henry & Anna (Etter) Givler.

She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Barbara & Robert Motes of Ooltewah, TN; son, Gary Rhoades of Columbus, Ohio; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Elgar E. Rhoades whom she married on March 11, 1936; son, Lee Rhoades; grandson, Jeff Rhoades; brothers, Roy & Carl Givler; and sister, Mary Hunt.

Leah worked at with her husband on their farm as well as Franklin Monroe Elementary as a cook. She was a member of the Painter Creek Church of the Brethren, Gettysburg Grange and was a graduate of Gettysburg School.

There will be a service held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. Family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 12-2 PM at the funeral home.

Helen M. Stebbins (January 25, 2012)

Helen M. Stebbins, age 85 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 9:56 P.M. Wednesday January 25, 2012 at the Oakley House of Greenville. Helen was born January 19, 1927 in Darke County Ohio and the daughter of the late Earl C. and Pearl (Stump) Smith.

She was retired from the Greenville City School System having taught 2nd grade at the Woodland Heights Building.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Norman N. Stebbins June 24, 1975; a grandson Shawn Norman Stebbins July 9, 2007 and a stillborn brother.

Helen is survived by her sons and daughters in law Steven L. and Diana Stebbins of Greenville, Stan Stebbins of Ansonia and Charles F. “Chuck” and Debra Stebbins of Greenville. Grandchildren and their spouses Shelley and Bill Kolb, Stacy & Eric Fellers, Tiffany Stebbins, Michelle and Doug Rogers, Angie Stebbins, Jason and Mindy Stebbins and Samuel Stebbins. Three step grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, a sister and brother in law Donna and Don Miller of Ft. Jefferson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday January 30, 2012 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Helen’s niece Pastor Julianne (Di Rocco) Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 until 5 P.M. in the funeral home.

Juanita E. Goodpaster, 85 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away late Wednesday evening, January 25, 2012 at Heartland of Greenville.

She was born March 10, 1926 in Salamonia, IN, daughter of the late Eugene and Dorothy (Harshman) Funk. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Sando; and sisters, Winifred Beyke, Margaret Roark, and Irene Dickey.

A homemaker, Juanita had worked for 20 years at the former Sheller-Globe in Union City.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Mac C. Goodpaster, whom she married December 29, 1945; children, Joyce (Bruce) Ullery of Germany, Joe (Dorothy) Goodpaster of Greenville, Rose Mary Wetzel of Greenville, Charles Goodpaster of New Madison, Ron (Kelley) Goodpaster of Greenville, and John Goodpaster of Greenville; a son-in-law, Bill Sando of Garland, TX; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; a niece and two nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 30, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Gettysburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.

Philip R. Mitchell (January 25, 2012)

Philip R. Mitchell, age 83 of Greenville, Ohio passed away Wednesday January 25, 2012 in the Good Samaritan Hospital Dayton, Ohio. Philip was born May 14, 1928 in Lewisburg, Ohio and the son of the late George and Madeline (Hill) Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell was a graduate of Lewisburg High School and Miami University of Ohio. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the Counter Intelligence Corps. Mr. Mitchell was a long time member of the Libanus Masonic Lodge #80 of Lewisburg, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton and was retired from the former State Fidelity Savings and Loan of Greenville.

He is survived by his daughter Tanya (Eric) Brand of Greenville, son Matthew (Lana) Mitchell of Delphos, Ohio and four grandchildren and two step grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Roselawn Cemetery Lewisburg, Ohio. There will be no public visitation.

Augusta V. “Gussie” Hope age 96, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 2:27 P.M. on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville. Gussie was born January 18, 1916 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Albert & Nettie (Epps) Goens.

Gussie is survived by her children, Barbara Smith of Colorado, James “Tom” & Pat Hope of Greenville, Greta Werner of Greenville and Bill & Connie Hope of Indiana; 20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 31 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Gussie is also preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth, Chester and Lawrence Goens; and sisters, Marie Holland, Dora Goens, Pauline Archey, Loma Fackson, Treca Milton, Treva Bass and Hazel Schuster.

Gussie was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethel Wesleyan Church, Greenville.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville with Rev. Rodney Slade officiating. Leota P. (Petry) Bevins (January 18, 2012)

Wednesday, January 18, 2012, Mrs. Leota P. (Petry) Bevins went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born on December 7, 1932 in Miami County, Ohio, to the late Carl & Ola (Eliker) Petry.

She is survived by her loving and loyal husband of 59 years, Wilbur Bevins; children, Myra K. Bevins, deceased, Vivian (Bevins) Dailey, and husband Tom, of Greenville; Douglas Bevins, and wife Anna, of Arcanum; Dwight Bevins, and wife Corine, of Greenville; Pamela (Bevins) Graves, and husband Samuel, of Greenville; and Lisa (Bevins) Metzcar, and husband William, of New Madison. Twelve cherished grandchildren; Joseph Bevins, Nathaniel Bevins, Leah Metzcar, Jordan Bevins, Jacob Metzcar, Zachariah Bevins, James Graves, Chloie Graves, Loryn Metzcar, Joshua Metzcar, Leana Metzcar, and Josiah Metzcar. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Leota is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Arthur Lowell Petry, Carol Emerson Petry, and Delbert Petry, and sister Clarabelle (Petry) Shafer.

Leota was a homemaker as well as worked at JC Penny and Neff Lettering. She was a member of the Castine Church of the Brethren where she was very active in the Women’s Fellowship. She was a 4H advisor for 30 years, loved sewing, Gardening, and canning. Leota really enjoyed being with her grandchildren and playing checkers.

There will be a celebration of life on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Bill House officiating. Burial will follow in the Hollansburg Cemetery, Hollansburg, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.

She is preceded in death by her parents; & Brother: Thurman Burris.

Eugene L. Ross, age 85, of Coletown, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 9:50 AM at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville, Ohio. He was born on August 11, 1926 in Coletown, Ohio, to the late Cormal & Anna (Burke) Ross.

Eugene worked as a carpenter from Fry Construction for 10 years, Darke County Garage on the bridge department for 12 years, and the Greenville School system as a custodian for 10 years. He was a member of the Coletown Congregational Christian Church, Farm Power of the Past and loved worked on gasoline engines.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Evelan (Deardoff) Ross whom he married on August 29, 1948; son, Bruce Allen Ross; brothers, Robert and Gary Ross; and sister, Joan Bergman.

He is survived by his sons and daughters in law, Philip (Andrea) Ross of West Mansfield, Ohio, and Larry (Rose) Ross of Covington, Ohio; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brother and sister in law, Ronald & Joan Ross of West Alexandria, Indiana; sister, Shirley Linder of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a service held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Coletown Congregational Christian Church, 2876 St. Rt. 571 West, Coletown, Ohio, with Pastor Eric Knight and Pastor Carroll Pahl officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 1-3 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, as well as from 10-10:30 AM on Monday before the service at church.

Frances Eldine Winterrowd (January 17, 2012)

Frances Eldine Winterrowd, age 90 of Wauseon, Ohio and formerly of Greenville passed away at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday January 17, 2012 at the Heartland Nursing Home of Wauseon. Eldine was born July 22, 1921 in Darke County, Ohio and the daughter of the late Jess and Mabel (McKibbon) Oswalt.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greenville where she had been active baking pies for the church suppers. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Winterrowd; brother Joe Oswalt; and great grandson Ethan Crooks.

Eldine is survived by her daughter and son in law Cinda and Paul Meyer of Wauseon, Ohio. Grandchildren Randy (Natalie) Meyer and Jennifer Crooks. Great grandchildren Courtney Meyer, Alexis Meyer, Hayley Meyer and Chloe Crooks. Also several nieces and nephews.

Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Joe Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Teegarden Cemetery near Ansonia, Ohio. There will be no visitation.

She worked at Wayne Healthcare for 14 years as an ER Registration Clerk. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenville and she was involved in 4H with her kids.

She is preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by her Husband of 14 years Greg Weidner of Arcanum whom she married November 8, 1997; her children: Jonah & Phoebe Weidner at home; Brother: Scott Yoder of Greenville; Sisters & brothers in law: Kelly & Dave Eikenberry of Greenville, Tracy & James Redmond of Phillipsburg, Ohio; numerous nieces & nephews.

Rolland M. Sinck, 94, of New Madison passed away at Heartland of Greenville on January 13, 2012. Rolland was born on June 24,1917 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Claude and Irene (Mills) Sinck..

Rolland was a businessman throughout his entire life He owned and operated several businesses, the most recent being American Motors in New Madison. His pride and joy was the American Legion post #245 in New Madison. He was the oldest member of the post and was very involved during his 66 years of membership .He served his country from April 1945-Aug.1946 in the United States Army. He was a 1935 graduate from New Madison Schools and he loved to mushroom hunt.

In addition to his parents, Rolland is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Maxine (Lawrence)Sinck; brothers Richard, Ralph, Russell, and Darrell Sinck; and grandson, Dan Peden.

Rolland is survived by his daughters and son in law, Claudia and John Landis of Lewisburg and Carol Peden of Arcanum; grandchildren, Stacy Kauffman, Curtis Koons, Jenna Landis, Deanna Troutwine; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren

Arbadella J. Brumbaugh (January 13, 2012)

Arbadella J. Brumbaugh, 75, of Greenville, passed away Friday evening, January 13, 2012, at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville.

She was born December 30, 1936 in Darke County, daughter of the late Ivan and Esther (Rismiller) Christian. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. "Don" Brumbaugh on February 25, 2011; a brother, Art Kuhlman ; and a sister, Rosella Munn.

Arb had retired from the Ansonia Schools where she had worked for 20 years. She then worked with her husband in maintenance at the Ansonia First Church of God. She was a member of the Greenville Missionary Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Taunya (Tom) Buxton of Versailles, Sherry (Doug) Warvel of Greenville, and Mindy (Tim) Walters of Ansonia; grandchildren, Traci (Jesse) Dobbelaere, Laci (Octavio) Cedeno, Mandy (Ryan) Addison, Kyle (Kari) Warvel, Lana (Alan) Wombolt and Reese Walters; great grandchildren, Ava and Gabriel Addison, Wesley Dobbelaere, and Grady Warvel; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Brumbaugh of Ansonia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 21 at the Greenville Missionary Church with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Ronald L. Laughman age 55, of Bradford, Ohio, passed away at 8:03 A.M. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at his residence. Ronald was born April 23, 1956 in Greenville, Ohio, to Helen (Shimp) Laughman Witt of Versailles and the late Lowell Laughman.

In addition to his mother, Ronald is survived by a son & daughter-in-law, Jason & Crystal Laughman of Troy; daughter, Amy Laughman of Piqua; grandchildren, Eric Laughman, Lacey Laughman, Lesley Laughman and Antonio Jouett; special friends, Linda Kane of Bradford and Brett Kane of Bradford; brother & sister-in-law, Ray & Wanda Laughman of Russia; and sisters & brother-in-law, Connie Fries of Versailles and Cindy & Roger Todd of Russia.

Ronald was a former truck driver. He was a member of the Bradford Church of the Nazarene.

Martin Ray Brubaker (January 12, 2012)

Martin Ray Brubaker, 71 years, 9 months and 15 days, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 12, 2012. Martin was born on March 28, 1940 in West Alexandria to the late Arthur and Helen (Metzger) Brubaker

Martin was a self employed farmer his whole life and always kept busy doing many diferant jobs throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, Martin is preceded in death by a brother.

Martin is survived by his wife of 51 1/2 years, Ruth (Deaton) Brubaker; sons, Michael and wife Amanda Brubaker and Daniel Brubaker; four daughters, Bonnie Brubaker, Marie and husband Glenn Browning, Rachel and husband Mark Brumbaugh and Helen and husband Christopher Church; seven grandchildren; four brothers and four sisters.

A visitation for Martin will be from 2 PM till 8 PM, Saturday, January 14th and from 2 PM till 8 PM on Sunday, January 15th at the Price's Creek Church in Eldorado, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Monday, January 16 also at the church with the Old German Baptist Brethren officiating. Burial will follow in the Price's Creek Cemetery.

Nancy "Jean" (Emig) Leeper (January 13, 2012)

Nancy "Jean" (Emig) Leeper, 81, of Rossburg, OH, passed away early Friday morning, January 13, 2012 at the Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN.

She was born in Miami County, Ohio, daughter of the late John Henry and Helen Mildred (Creager) Emig. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, N. Edward Leeper on April 4, 2010; a son, Donald Leeper; and a brother, Robert Emig.

Jean had helped her husband on the family farm and with the family milk transport business. She had worked in her later years as a clerk at Depweg's Grocery in Rossburg.

She is survived by her children, Douglas of Georgia, David of Rossburg, Dennis (Karlynn) of Rossburg, Diane (Tom) Jenkins of Greenville, Dane (Linda) of Ansonia, Darin of Ft. Myers, FL, Darrell (Cheryl) of Georgia, Darwin (Valerie) of Rossburg, Dwane of Rossburg, Doreen (Chris) Culy of Winchester, IN, and Dwight (Kim) of Rossburg; daughter-in-law, Kathy Leeper of Rossburg; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Spahr of Carthagena, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Connie Beatty (January 11, 2012)

Connie Beatty age 90, of South Bend, Indiana and formerly of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 6:17 P.M. Wednesday January 11, 2012 in Kindred Transitional Care. Connie was born June 20, 1921 in Manioidezati, Italy and the daughter of the late Lugi and Marriannina (Desimone) Salvatore. Connie moved from Italy to America when she was seven years old.

July of 1944, in Jersey City, NJ, Connie married Carl Beatty who preceded her in death in October of 1991. Her beloved daughter Carole Cullinane also preceded her in death.

Connie is survived by her daughter Delores Lane of Santé Fe, NM and son Jack (Mary) Beatty of South Bend, IN. In addition, four grandchildren Ryan (Nicole) Beatty, Brandy (David) Yundt, J.T. (Kelly) Ullery and Lance Ullery as well as four beautiful great granddaughters. Also surviving are her sister Josephine Tecchio and brother Joseph (Annette) Salvatore of New Jersey and her nieces and nephews.

Connie was a retired hairdresser and spent her later years in Las Vegas where she worked as a hostess at the Liberace Museum. The family would like to thank Sharon Hoffman and Patsy for their kindness during these last few years.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday January 19, 2012 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Father John R. White officiating. Julie had retired from Buchy's Food Service in Greenville and had attended the New Beginnings Church of God in Greenville.

She is survived by her sister's, Mary (Lynn) Ullery of Greenville and Roberta L. Whitehead of Piqua; brothers, Randy J. McCoy and Woodrow L. "Woody" McCoy both of Greenville; nephews, Michael Ullery, Ryan Ullery and Christopher Whitehead.

Mark is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patricia (Swallow) Pax whom he married May 23, 1975; step children, Deb & Jim Kauffman of Arcanum, Cindy & Roger Wolfe of Union City, Ohio, Mike & Toni Burt of Huntington, West Virginia, Sandy & Anson Whelan of Sadieville, Kentucky, Karen Burt of Troy, Brenda Ganger & Nick of Alanson, Michigan, and David Ganger & Cherie of Sidney; 21 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; brothers, Fr. Ulric Pax of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Francis & Joan Pax of Coldwater, John Pax of Camden, David & Marilyn Pax of Celina and Marvin & Jo Ann Pax of Jacksonville, Florida; and a sister-in-law, Thelma Pax of Celina.

In addition to his parents, Mark is also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer Pax; grandchildren, Brandon Ganger, Kevin Burt and Nicole Burt; and brothers, Tom Pax, Fr. Ray Pax and Fr. Bart Pax.

Mark worked at Pax Machine in Coldwater and owned & operated Pax This-N-That Gift Shop in Versailles for 22 yrs. until his retirement. Marked served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 yrs. He graduated from Immaculate Conception in Celina and Ohio Northern University. Mark was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles and attended St. Remy Catholic Church in Russia. Mark was also a member of the Versailles V.F.W.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, January 13, 2012 at St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia, with Rev. Fr. Frank Amberger celebrant. Annabelle Louise (Oswalt) Stamper, age 84, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 4:00 PM at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was born on July 15, 1927 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Claude L. and Harriet M. (Brumbaugh) Oswalt.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Stamper on Jan. 30, 1993, whom she married on February 4, 1950; parents; son, Steven A. Stamper on November 25, 1993; brother, Walter H. Oswalt on August 20, 1999.

Annabelle is survived by her beloved family; daughters and son in law, Sharyn Lynn (Doug) Harman of Arcanum, Ohio, and Suzanne Mary Stamper of Union City, Ohio; grandsons, Jason D. (Jamee) Harman of New Madison, Ohio, Travis M. Harman of Arcanum, Ohio, and Randy Kenneth Youmans of Union City, Ohio; great granddaughters, Brooklyn Jae Harman and Kearstin Renee Auske; sister, Sara Shultz of Indianapolis, Indiana; sisters in law, Ann Stamper of Miamisburg, Ohio, and Jean Poynter of Dayton, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Annabelle was a member of the Fort Greenville Chapter DAR having held the office of Registrar and doing research on her Revolutionary War ancestors. A member of Darke County Genealogical Society entering her Darke County Pioneer families and Darke County First Families. She and her husband did research at Grayson County (Virginia) Historical Society in Independence, Virginia, researching her husband’s ancestors. She was a Girl Scout Leader in Arcanum and helped with the cub scouts and 4-H when her children were younger. She also judged 4-H projects for the county fair. She was a 1945 graduate of Greenville High School.

There will be a service held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio Rev. John McRoberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Raymond retired from General Motors after 30 + years of service. He loved to fish, hunt, tinker around the house, gardening, working on his lawn and enjoyed being outside in nature. He was a man that loved to put others before himself. Raymond was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and a past member of the American Legion. He served his country honorably in the United States Army in WWII, receiving the Purple Heart.

In addition to his parents, Raymond is preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna Lou (Beam) Null and two brothers, Bob Null and John Null.

Raymond is survived by his daughter, Molly and Jaime French of Greenville; a brother, Carl Null Jr. of Greenville and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service for Raymond will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 11 A.M. at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. He will be honored by the Darke County Honor Guard for his faithful service to our country. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Family request that A donation be made to the Amputees in Motion Support Group or the Disabled American Veterans in lieu of flowers. Raymond was a casual man and his family request casual attire to the funeral service.

Mary Ellen Rose (January 4, 2012)

Mary Ellen Rose, age 62, of Greenville, departed this life to continue her spiritual walk with Jesus Christ on January 4, 2012. She was born in Greenville on August 6, 1949 to Carl F. Rose and Gladys M. (Shultz) Rose of Bradford. She was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew. She is survived by one sister, Barbara A. Gray (Greenville) and one brother, Raymond “Jerry” Owens (Lafayette Hill, PA). She is also survived by 5 nieces, 3 great nieces, 1 great nephew, 8 great-great nephews, and 2 great-great nieces. Mary Ellen was employed at McDonald’s (South) of Greenville for the past 11 years. She loved to read, garden, and study the Bible. She loved her family and will be dearly missed. A memorial service is planned for 1 PM on Saturday, January 14, 2012 in the chapel at the First Presbyterian Church, 114 E. 4th Street, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or Heartland Hospice of Greenville.

Anita Thomas Young (January 6, 2012)

January 6, 2012 will forever mark the date when Anita Thomas Young peacefully left this earth and begin her journey to what comes after this life. Having only entered our world on December 18, 1958, Anita lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 53 at her home in New Madison, Ohio.

Anita was a quiet philanthropist, buying clothing, shoes and food for the children with whom she worked at Head start in Richmond, Indiana. Her extending arm reached the aid of animals as well. Anita, on countless occasions found and nursed injured wild animals to health before releasing them back to nature. Her compassion and selflessness will be an aspiration to her remaining loved ones.

Anita left an unfillable void, already noticeable by the many who are left to continue without her. Among those who remain are her husband, Kirk Young, her parents Lillian Sally and Elvin Miller, brother Eric Miller, two daughters Laurel and Ashley Perkins, two step-children Whitney Young Tompkins and Joe Young, and a granddaughter Lily Tompkins.

Anita has joined her brother Robert Kelly Thomas who passed in 1996.

She will be long remembered for her gentle and kind demeanor, bright sense of humor, love of everything beautiful, insatiable desire to learn about other cultures and finding the positive elements in each person and situation she met. Anita, as a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter and as a friend, your memory will be held fondly in our hearts.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday January 11, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Wendy Canon officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday 2 hours prior to the Memorial Service in the funeral home.

Phyllis Maxine Gunckel Lear, age 80 of Bradford, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday January 4, 2012 at her residence. She was born July 12, 1931 in Greenville, Ohio the daughter of the late Francis M. & Earlene M. (Thompson) Lyme. She worked at Poultry Producers in Versailles, the Cozy Corner of Bradford, and the Coffee Shop of Greenville.

She is preceded in death by her parents; previous husband: Earl L. Gunckel; Sons: infant Keith, & Duane Hoffman; Grandson: Zachary Yohey; Brothers: Forest A., Infant Dale Jr., & Richard H. Lyme; Sister: Catherine L. Brown.

She is survived by her husband: Harold Lear of Bradford; Sons: Steven Yohey of Greenville, Dennis Yohey of Greenville, Richard Yohey of Tennessee, Edward W. Hoffman of Florida; Step Children: Keith Lear, Bonnie Lingo, & Brenda Hinkle; 16 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren, & great grandchildren; Brother: Norman E. Lyme of Versailles.

Services will be held on Saturday January 7, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Burial will follow in Harris Creek Cemetery, Bradford, Ohio. Glenn D. Winterrowd (January 1, 2012)

Glenn D. Winterrowd, age 97, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 9:05 PM at Heartland of Greenville. He was born on April 17, 1914 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Albert & Emma (Hufnagle) Winterrowd.

He is survived by his sons and daughters in law, James Winterrowd of Greenville, Gary & Pat Winterrowd of State College, Pennsylvania, and Kent & Esther Winterrowd of Tehachapi, California; grandchildren, Kelly & Bob Collie, Cindy Winterrowd, David & Lexey Winterrowd, Kerry & Ulyanna Winterrowd, Ty & Debbie Winterrowd, and Luke and Brandy Winterrowd; great grandchildren, Jake Collie, Ben Collie, Ashley Collie, Ally Winterrowd, Kelby Winterrowd, Marion Winterrowd, Gustin Winterrowd, Tyler Winterrowd, and Josh Winterrowd; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Winterrowd; 6 brothers; and 1 sister.

Glenn was a mechanic and was co-owner of the Palestine Super Service and Northside Service Station in Greenville and was the first Fire Chief in Liberty Township. He was a member of the Palestine Church of Christ and a 70 years member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge #143, and a 66 year member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, of which he was a 32nd Degree Mason. Glenn was very active in the community and was the former Mayor of Palestine. He loved fishing and hunting.

There will be a service held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10 AM at Palestine Church of Christ, 209 Lynn St., Palestine, Ohio, with Rev. Mike Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 6-8 PM as well as one hour prior to the service at church. There will be a Masonic Memorial Service held on Thursday evening at 7:45 PM at the funeral home.

Terry “Woody” Miller (January 1, 2012)

Terry “Woody” Miller, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 6:00 AM at Gade Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio. He was born on March 7, 1961 in Greenville, Ohio, to Kenny & Kathy Miller of Greenville, Ohio, and the late Patricia (Davidson) Miller.

Terry is survived by his father and step mother; siblings, Tim (Dilana) Miller of Ansonia, Ohio, Joe Miller and Friend Tammy Pressler of Middletown, Ohio, and Kim (Darrell) Grosch of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother.

Terry was a Pipefitter and for the past 6 years worked at United Group Services out of Cincinnati and was working at the plant in Lima, Ohio. He was a member of the Arcanum VFW, Greenville Eagles and Moose.

There will be a service held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Chaplain Candy Null officiating. Kathleen E. “Kathy” Taylor (December 30, 2011)

Kathleen E. “Kathy” Taylor, age 78, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 3:00 AM at Versailles Health Care Center after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on November 12, 1933 in Shelby County, Ohio to the late Roy A. Simons and Helen E. (McGreevy) Simons Peiffer.

Kathy (or Hoppy as she was known at work) retired from Fram/Allied Signal back in 1998 with over 46 years of service. She loved gardening, canning, and traveling.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy, Bill, and Lewis Simons; and sisters, Rose Ann and Priscilla Simons.

She is survived by her husband Bill Taylor of Greenville, Ohio, whom she married on October 16, 1965; son and daughter in law, Robert (Betsy) Taylor of Clayton, Ohio; brother and sister in law, Harold (Linda) Simons of Union City, Ohio; sister in law, Ardell Simons of Poplar Grove, Illinois; sister, Helen Gerlach of Trotwood, Ohio; sister and brother in law, Barb (Paul) Wiford of Centerville, Ohio; and sister, Carol Strayer of Sidney, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a service held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, with Rev. Fr. John White officiating. Leetta M. Hemmelgarn, age 60, of Rossburg, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 4:23 AM, at the Versailles Health Care Center, Versailles, Ohio. She was born on September 20, 1951 in Miami County, Ohio, to Mary (Shaffer) Wheeler of Greenville, Ohio, and the late Herbert Sexauer.

Leetta was a housewife and was also a seamstress. She loved camping, sewing, cookouts and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

In addition to her father she is preceded in death by her brother in law, Larry Krogman.
She is survived by her husband Michael E. Hemmelgarn of Rossburg, Ohio, whom she married on May 8, 1993; children, Kevin J. (Christy) Meade of Lewisburg, Ohio, Bobbie Lee (Jamie Miller) Bercaw of Greenville, Ohio, Nickie Jo (Rick) Parsons of Greenville, Ohio, Tracy (Neil) Ranly of Versailles, Ohio, Jason Hemmelgarn of Versailles, Ohio, and Brian Hemmelgarn of Versailles, Ohio; numerous grandchildren; father and mother in law, Gerry and Norma Hemmelgarn of Versailles, Ohio; sisters and brothers in law, Lois & Monroe Gordon of Dade City, Florida, Lillie & Danny Webb of Mendon, Ohio, Linda Krogman of Mendon, Ohio, and Connie Meade of Greenville, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara Lou Becker (December 31, 2011)

Barbara Lou Becker, age 86, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 31, 2011, at 7:00 AM.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert; her parents Archie and Mae (Juday) Shuttleworth; brothers Kenneth and Lester Shuttleworth; and grandson, Jeremy Becker.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Stoltz, Penny (Michael) Strawser, Steven Becker and Tim Becker all of Greenville; grandchildren, Phil (Kerry) Stoltz, Jon (Melissa) Stoltz, Matt Stoltz, Sean (Kristi) Strawser, Joshua Becker, Amber Strawser and Amanda Limbert; great grandchildren, Corynna Strawser, Kaleb Taylor, Hannah and Mikaylah Limbert; and twin sister, Betty Smith.

Barbara attended the Greenville Missionary Church and was a true witness to the saving power of Jesus Christ and was looking for His return.

There will be a celebration of life held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 10:30 AM at the Greenville Missionary Church, 1110 North Broadway, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 2, 2012, from 5-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.
