January 6, 2012 will forever mark the date when Anita Thomas Young peacefully left this earth and begin her journey to what comes after this life. Having only entered our world on December 18, 1958, Anita lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 53 at her home in New Madison, Ohio.
Anita was a quiet philanthropist, buying clothing, shoes and food for the children with whom she worked at Head start in Richmond, Indiana. Her extending arm reached the aid of animals as well. Anita, on countless occasions found and nursed injured wild animals to health before releasing them back to nature. Her compassion and selflessness will be an aspiration to her remaining loved ones.
Anita left an unfillable void, already noticeable by the many who are left to continue without her. Among those who remain are her husband, Kirk Young, her parents Lillian Sally and Elvin Miller, brother Eric Miller, two daughters Laurel and Ashley Perkins, two step-children Whitney Young Tompkins and Joe Young, and a granddaughter Lily Tompkins.
Anita has joined her brother Robert Kelly Thomas who passed in 1996.
She will be long remembered for her gentle and kind demeanor, bright sense of humor, love of everything beautiful, insatiable desire to learn about other cultures and finding the positive elements in each person and situation she met. Anita, as a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter and as a friend, your memory will be held fondly in our hearts.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday January 11, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Wendy Canon officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday 2 hours prior to the Memorial Service in the funeral home.
