Hollie F. Burk (November 27, 2010)

Hollie F. Burk, 77, of Greenville, passed away Saturday morning, November 27, 2010 at Heartland of Greenville.

He was born January 22, 1933 in Greenville, son of the late Artie and Mary M. (Oswalt) Burk. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Allen Burk.

Hollie was retired from Excello-Cadillac Gage-Textron in Greenville. He was a Veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Betty L. (Enochs) Burk; a daughter, Ronda (Terry) Malott of Greenville; a granddaughter, Dionne (Matt) Mihalus; and a sister, Priscilla Drake of Waterford, OH.

Private services were held at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial followed in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Barbara Durr (November 25, 2010)

Barbara Durr, age 82 of Greenville, Ohio passed away peacefully on November 25, 2010. Barbara was born February 2, 1928 the daughter of the late William and Helen (Swabb) Brooks.

Barbara and her husband Tom retired in 1982 as co-owner and operator of Durr Beverage Inc. of Greenville, as the Pepsi-Cola Distributor of Darke County- a business Barbara and Tom purchased from her parents Bill and Helen Brooks.

Barbara was a member of the Ansonia 1st Church of God. In 1960 while in their home in Port Charlotte, Florida Barbara and Tom started the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church holding services in their home. Barbara was a volunteer at Wayne Hospital and an avid reader and lover of music.

Barbara is reunited in Heaven with her husband Tom whom she married July 20, 1946 and was married to for 60 years, whom passed away in 2006, She is also reunited with her son Allan whom passed away in 2008.

She is survived by her Daughters and son in law: Nancy and Neil Isch of Greenville, Rebecca Gessler of Greenville; Daughter in law: Carol Durr of Greenville; Grandchildren and spouses: Michelle and Bob Miller, Michael Durr, Tara and Chris Gilbert, Steven and Kris Durr, Shaun Gessler; Great Grandchildren: Addison Miller, Abby Miller, McKenna Gilbert, Elizabeth Gilbert; Brother: Richard A. Brooks; Sister and Brother in law: Shirley and Ken Llacera of California; 2 nieces; 1 nephew; and her beloved Dog: Miss Prissy.

Services will be held on Tuesday November 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Keith Bailey and Pastor Tim Shrock officiating. Burial Will Follow in East Zion Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday November 29, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to State of the Heart Hospice.

William L. Fourman (November 25, 2010)

William L. Fourman, 83, of Greenville, passed away Thursday morning, November 25, 2010 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville after a three and a half year battle with Vascular Dementia following a stroke in 2007.

He was born March 29, 1927 in Greenville, son of the late Ira and Laura (Royer) Fourman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three great grandsons, Bryce Hamilton, Christopher and Cody Croft; and a sister, Margaret Delaplane.

Bill left Greenville in 1957, moving to Birmingham, AL and then moving to Destin Florida in 1993 following his retirement as a supervisor at Alabama Crank Shaft in 1991.

He is survived by his daughters, Sondra (Dave Nicholson) North of Greenville, Teri (Carl Chenoweth) Preston of Florida and Kim Franklin of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Rachelle (Scott) Downing, Abby Merriman, Angela (Kevin) Eding, Wendy (Scott) Smalldon-Cooper, Shanna (Bob) Andrecheck and Justin M.T. (Kristin) Hamilton; great grandchildren, Allie, Maddie and Meghan Downing, Joseph Henning, Karlin and Brooklyn Merriman, Kinsley Stutz, Kevin, Aubrey, Andrianna and Alexa Eding, Kedra and Sammie Smalldon, Andrew Cooper, Harley Croft, Jaycie and Ashton; McKenzie, Justin B., and Liam Hamilton; and three sisters, Helen Brown of Greenville, Virginia (Floyd) Weyrick of Greenville, and Jane (Duane) Johnson of Arcanum.

Services will be held Monday, November 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with the Rev. Doug Krauss officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Ft. Jefferson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to either the Darke County Humane Society or Hospice of Dayton.

Jack Root (November 24, 2010)

Jack Root, 64, of Versailles passed away on November 24, 2010 at Wayne Health Care. He was born on June 26, 1954, son of the late Edward Kegen and Carmella (Lattanzio) Root.

Jack is survived by three sons, J. Nicholas Delk and Jared Delk of Arcanum, and Michael Root; three sisters, Elaine (Ralph) Bierly of Greenville, Marilyn (Larry) Adkins of St. Paris, and Joan (JK) Sausset of New Castle, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by a daughter, Angel Root.

Lulu Grace Snyder (November 24, 2010)

Lulu Grace Snyder, 2 months, of Greenville went to be with the One who fearfully and wonderfully made her on November 24, 2010.

Lulu was born on September 23, 2010 at 8:14 PM, and weighed 4 lbs. 9 oz. and was 17 inches long. She was welcomed home with love by her Daddy and Mommy, Jason & Cami (Woodall) Snyder; 3 big brothers, Dylan, Owen, Simon and big sister, Annabelle.

Four days after Lulu was born, she was diagnosed with Trisomy 18. To look at Lulu Bird was like seeing the reflection of God’s love, and to hold her was to hold heaven.

Lulu was blessed to be surrounded by an amazing family including her grandparents; Bev & Larry Fitzwater, Greg & Teddy Woodall, James & Martha Snyder; and her great grandparents, Jim & Opal Hughes, Wavelene Woodall, Harry & Mary Snyder and John & Rosemary Gilbert, and many loving aunts, uncles & cousins.

Lulu was preceded in death by a great-grandpa, Harry Snyder.

A visitation will be held at EUM Church, 1451 Sater Street in Greenville on Sunday, November 28, 2010 from 2-5 PM with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 5:00 PM with Pastor Bill Lyle being asked to officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions are made to EUM Church to the Lulu Grace Fund for outdoor playground equipment. Donations will be accepted at the church. John F. "Jack" Subler (November 23, 2010)

John F. “Jack” Subler age 72 of Frenchtown, Ohio, passed away at 6:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at his residence. Jack was born January 29, 1938 in Versailles, Ohio, to the late John Glen and Ruth (McEldowney) Subler.

Jack was a refrigeration mechanic at Subler Transfer in Versailles for 21 years; Pohl Transportation in Versailles for 10 years and Classic Carriers in Versailles until his retirement. Jack served in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea. Jack was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown.

In addition to his parents, Jack is also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Monnier; great grandson, Gavin Brock; and a sister, Jean Braun.

Jack is survived by his wife, Emily (Barhorst) Subler, whom he married September 12, 1959; daughters and son-in-law, Mary Catherine Buckingham of Versailles and Theresa and Terry Haines of Frenchtown; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Bonnie Subler of Yorkshire and Kenneth Subler of Yorkshire; grandchildren, Jennifer Haines, Brian Haines and fiancĂ©e Ashley Elliot, Andrea Haines and Skip Brock, Eric Haines, Allyson Haines, Kelly Buckingham, Brianne Buzard, Scott Subler, Kevin Subler, Alan Subler, Amanda Subler and Kenneth Subler Jr.; great grandchildren, Landon Haines, Halie Haines, Lilyan Brock and Liam Brock; and brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Martha Subler of New Bremen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery in Frenchtown. Onda "Jean" Stump (November 22, 2010)

Mrs. Onda “Jean” Stump, age 84 of Ft. Recovery, Ohio passed away at 8:15 P.M. Monday November 22, 2010 at Wayne Hospital Greenville, Ohio. Jean was born March 22, 1926 in Darke County, Ohio and the daughter of the late Ronald H. “Steenie” and Edna (Rolfe) Riffle.

Jean was a homemaker and very much enjoyed her reading and gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Marjorie Byram, Mildred Lanich and Doris Mikesell. Also by her brother Ronnie Riffle.

She is survived by her husband Leon Stump of Ft. Recovery. They were married August 14, 1955. Also by her son and daughter in law Tim and Kelly Stump of Ft. Recovery; grandchildren and spouses Shad and Alisha McClure, Christina and Elliott Laux, Mandy Stump and Cody Stump. Also great grandchildren Carly, Aubree and Aaron. Her sisters and brothers in law Ruby “Toots” and Junior Coby of Greenville, Linda and Ralph Wood of Ansonia, brothers and sisters in law Dale and Pat Riffle of Greenville and Jim and Kay Riffle of Ansonia. Also numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday November 27, 2010 at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with the Rev. Terry Haworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 until 8 P.M. and on Saturday 1 hour prior to the services in the funeral home.

Sameul F. Lehman (November 22, 2010)

Mr. Samuel F. Lehman, age 82 of Emeritus at Pinnacle 1305 Lamplighter Drive Grove City, Ohio and formerly of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Monday November 22, 2010 at 9:00 PM at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born April 29, 1928 in Versailles, Missouri the son of the late Joseph A. and Bertha (Garber) Lehman.

He was a Soil Scientist for Federal Government for 31 years retiring in 1986; he then was a realtor for McCombs Reality. He was a member of Oakland Church of the Brethren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Son: Frederich Lehman; Brothers: Warren, Herman, and Roland Lehman; Sister: Mildred Hilty.

He is survived by his wife: Helen (Nasser) Lehman of Galena, Ohio; Sons and daughters in law: Dr. James and Suzanne Lehman of Grove City, Ohio, Dr. Jeffery and Tracey Lehman of Columbus, Ohio; Grandchildren: Joseph, Rebecca, Benjamin, Caleb, Jonathon Lehman; Brothers: Joe Lehman of Colorado, Quintin Lehman of Missouri, Twin Brother: Daniel Lehman of California.

Services will be held on Saturday November 27, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Oakland Church of the Brethren 8058 Horatio Harris Creek Road, Bradford, Ohio with Pastor Pete Kontra officiating. Helen "Lucille" Pease (November 20, 2010)

Helen “Lucille” (Swihart) Pease, 87, of Eaton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of November 20, 2010 at the Vancrest Assisted Living in Eaton. Lucille was born on July 17, 1923 to the late Calvin & Inez (Stephens) Swihart. Lucille was a life-long homemaker that enjoyed spending time with her family and friends above all else. She also enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. Lucille enjoyed bird watching and had several bird feeders outside her window where she could watch her finches. She was a longtime member of Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren and in her later years enjoyed fellowship with a non-denominational group at Eaton. In addition to her parents, Lucille is preceded in death by her husband, Roland who passed away in 1998; also brother Forrest Swihart and sister Treva Hapner. Lucille is survived by her children, Linda and Randy Blough of Eaton, Kenny and Sharon Pease of New Madison, Melvin and Donna Pease of Howell, Michigan, Gary Pease of Boerne, Texas, Rhonda Fritz of Tucson, Arizona, and Joey Pease also of Tucson, Arizona; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison at the convenience of the family with Irving Ross and Joel Riggs being asked to officiate. W. Kennon Harmeson (November 20, 2010)

W. Kennon Harmeson, 96, of Greenville, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 20, 2010 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

Kennon was born June 17, 1914 in Randolph County, Indiana, son of the late Orville and Lulu (Locke) Harmeson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Gladys (Kaffenberger) Harmeson on June 29, 2010; a daughter-in-law, Sue Harmeson on August 16, 2010, and a brother in infancy.

He was retired from Frigidaire in Dayton where he had worked for 35 years. He was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Recovery.

He is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Don) Slyder of Ansonia; a son, James Harmeson of Rossburg; grandchildren, James Slyder, Thomas (Kathy) Slyder, Lynn (Kent) James, Kimberly (Jeff Wieser) Harmeson, Jeff Harmeson, Jason (Dannette) Harmeson and Justin (Tara) Harmeson; 12 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday, November 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Recovery with Pastors Paul Young and Bruce Baer co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery near Ft. Recovery.

George E. Townsend (November 19, 2010)

George Everett Townsend age 79 of New Madison, Ohio, passed away at 1:45 P.M. on Friday, November 19, 2010 at his residence. George was born July 29, 1931 in Van Buren Township, Darke County, Ohio, to the late Goth Byron and Mildred (Davis) Townsend.

George was a farmer. George also formerly worked at the Crosley Plant in Richmond, Indiana, Slagle Gravel Company in Greenville and the Union City Body Company in Union City, Indiana. George served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean Conflict. He attended the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Greenville. He was a member of the Greenville V.F.W. and the New Madison American Legion. He was also a member of the Greenville Moose, Greenville Eagles and Treaty City Motorcycle Club.

In addition to his parents, George is also preceded in death by his brothers, Harold, Parl and William Townsend; and a sister, Betty Townsend Brown.

George is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Ballard) Townsend, whom he married August 8, 1951. George is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tyle and Jennifer (Sorrell) Townsend of New Madison; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jack Kraemer of Chicago, Illinois and Patti and John Moss of Columbus; grandchildren, Dustin and Amanda (Herzog) Townsend of New Madison, Tennille Townsend of New Madison, Taylor Kraemer of Chicago, Illinois, Mitchell Kraemer of Chicago, Illinois, Jacob Moore of Columbus and Mackenzie Moore of Columbus; sisters and brother-in-law, Cork Drew of Greenville, Shirley East of Hamilton and Joy and Jim Albright of Greenville; brothers-in-law, Neville and Lavetta Ballard of Dayton, Woody and Donna Ballard of New Madison, Bob and Roxie Ballard of Dayton and Jim and Donna Ballard of New Madison; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special buddy, Sparky.

D. Ronald McClurg (November 18, 2010)

D. Ronald “Ron” McClurg age 67 of Findlay, Ohio and formerly of Greenville passed away at 11:15 A.M. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at his sister’s residence. Ron was born October 24, 1943 in Greenville to the late Walter and Eloise (McGreevey) McClurg.

Ron was a truck driver for 40 years which he owned and operated himself. He also was a member of the Greenville Eagles for over 30 years.

In addition to his parents, Ron is also preceded in death by a brother: Bill McClurg, a sister-in-law: Connie McClurg and a great niece: April Peters.

Ron is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Scott Bingham of Greenville; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Nancy McClurg of Celina; nieces and nephews, Rhonda and Rick Peters of Greenville, Jimmy and Shaughn Bingham of Greenville, Michael and Jackie McClurg of Piqua, Michelle and Jack Penny of Piqua, Christina and Fred Plunkett of Piqua and Julie and Ryan Mullins of Greenville; and special friends, Nancy McClurg of Greenville and Barney Tooman, Jim Hayes and Jeff Sorg of Findlay.

Margaret Hudson (November 16, 2010)

Margaret (Welch) (Parriman) (Higgins) Hudson age 93 formerly of Dayton and more recently of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away at 11:45 P.M. on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. Margaret was born October 15, 1917 in Elwood, Indiana, to the late Ollie & Clara (Adkins) Welch.

In addition to her parents, Margaret is also preceded in death by her husband, Willie R. Hudson on August 13, 2001, whom she married May 9, 1970 at Jellico, Tennessee; a son, Grover Higgins on October 14, 2010; grandson, William Grover Higgins; brothers, James, Jack and Jerry Welch; and sisters, Faye Welch, Helen Staley and Mary Catherine Holland.

Margaret is survived by a daughter-in-law, Sally (Kent) Higgins of Arcanum; sister, Lillie Pool of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky; grandsons, Allan Higgins of Dayton and Michael A. Higgins of New Madison; granddaughters, Mary Ellen Stevens and husband Danny of New Paris and Karrie (Karlie) (Higgins) (Stachler) Geesy and husband Joseph of Dunkirk, Indiana; great granddaughters, Ami Stevens of New Paris and Leigha Stachler of Dunkirk, Indiana; great grandson, Alexander Geesy of Dunkirk, Indiana; and step great grandchildren, Ashton Mangas, Sarah Geesy, Katelynn Geesy and Josie Geesy of Dunkirk, Indiana.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Lowell Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery in Darke County, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Monday from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Russell Guy Wray (November 15, 2010)

Russell Guy Wray was born in Elkhart, IN to Lester Guy and Rozetta Ann (Crist) Wray on November 15, 1968. When Russell was 4 his family moved from Indiana to Kansas where he enjoyed farming and hauling hay. At the age of sixteen he moved to Ohio where he lived the rest of his life.

On September 2, 1989, Russell married Faith Benedict the love of his life. Russell and Faith were baptized on October 16, 1993. They had five children, who were the joy of Russell’s life. His children will have many good memories of doing things with daddy.

Russell worked in the construction field after moving to Ohio. He enjoyed the outdoors and everything that goes with it – hunting, camping, fishing, and was known for his “Russell’s fires.” Russell always felt very close to God while sitting in his tree stand in the peaceful morning hours.

Russell was diagnosed with cancer September 12, 2007 with a life expectancy of six to nine months. God blessed us with three years and two months of togetherness after diagnosis to make many wonderful memories. He received various treatments and surgeries traveling to Cleveland OH, Texas, and OSU. Through it all he accepted God’s perfect plan for his life and praised God. Russell was anointed on two occasions from which he received great comfort. On November 15, 2010, surrounded by his loved ones he received the best birthday gift ever when he went to be with his Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his wife Faith of 21 years; five children, Hannah Brooke 18, Corbin Brett 14, Carly Beth 10, Brendan Guy 7, and Reuben Mark 4; parents Lester and Rozetta Wray; Mother-in-law Joan Benedict; one Brother Jerry and his wife Nancy; two sisters, Norma Jean and her husband Dennis Stamy, Larisa and her husband Daryl Strike; four brothers-in-law, Dale and his wife Karen, Joel and his wife Tara, Jeremy and his wife Michelle, and Nevin Benedict; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father-in-law Mark Benedict.

There will be a service held on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Painter Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church on Schnorf Jones Rd. with Ken Hopkins and Kirby Crist officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 1-5 and 6-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Shirley C. Hilderbrand (November 15, 2010)

Shirley C. Hilderbrand age 66 of Celina and formerly of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 2:30 P.M. on Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital of the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. Shirley was born March 21, 1944 in Richmond, Indiana, to William G. Oakes of Kentucky and the late Vera Mae (Bryant) Oakes.

Shirley formerly owned Shirley’s Bar & Grill in Celina until her retirement. Shirley has had an auction at her bar to benefit the needy families of the area for the last 14 years. Shirley was a member of the Celina Moose; Greenville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary; and the Celina Sportsman Club.

In addition to her mother, Shirley is also preceded in death by her husband, Max Hilderbrand.

In addition to her father, Shirley is survived by a son, Alan Resor of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughters, Brenda S. Thornton of Greenville and Cindy Rapier of Greenville; grandchildren, Tina Thornton of Ridgeville, Indiana, Perry A. Rapier of Greenville, Tracy Thornton of Eaton, Michael T. Naomi M. Hangen, 86, of Arcanum, died early Thursday morning, November 18, 2010 at Heartland of Greenville. Mrs. Hangen was born in Ithaca, October 31, 1924, the daughter of the late David and Ruth (Pyles) Brown. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star, Arcanum and the Darke County Board of Realtors. Naomi was a sales associate for Lyle Bixler Realty in Arcanum. She was preceded in death by her husband Don Hangen, who died July 2, 1985, her daughter Karon Riesley, and sister Norma Brown. Naomi is survived by daughters Sharon Welbaum of Brookville, Cindy Payton and husband Tim and Denise Swabb and husband Gary both of Arcanum; Son John Hangen and wife Jolene of Arcanum; Grandchildren Dawn Kimerling and husband Rodney, Matthew Welbaum and wife Carrie, Amanda Sease and husband Andy, Shanda Brown and husband Renick, Aharyn Lavy and husband Dusty, Jessica, Jayme, Jenna Hangen; and 8 Great Grandchildren. Kenneth O. Young, Jr. (November 15, 2010)

Kenneth O. Young, Jr., 70, of Vandalia and formerly of Ansonia, passed away late Monday evening, November 15, 2010 at the Vandalia Park Nursing Home in Vandalia.

He was born July 10, 1940 in Lima, son of the late Kenneth O., Sr. and Mildred E. (Greene) Young. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (Rose) Young on June 20, 1987; and a sister, Goldie Schaffer.

Kenny had owned and operated Horn's Appliances in Greenville for over 25 years and he was retired from BASF in Greenville. He was a veteran of the US Navy having served from 1958 to 1962.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth O. (Shannon) Young, III of Ansonia; grandchildren, Kayla, Madison and Kolton Young all of Ansonia; sisters, Jackie (Bill) Gardner of Tucson, AZ and Beryl (Henry) Hoggatt of Reading, MI; brothers, Larry (Jane) Young of New Weston, Terry (Marge) Young of Russia, George (Connie) Young of Ansonia, and Gary (Marie) Young of Union City, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday November 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

John E. Kiser, Sr. (November 14, 2010)

John E. Kiser, Sr., 77, of Greenville, passed away early Sunday morning, November 14, 2010 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

He was born July 9, 1933 in Greenville, son of the late L.D. and Dora (Goens) Kiser. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond, and Walter "Butch" Kiser; and two sisters in infancy.

John was retired from Inland Steel in Greenville where he had worked for 17 years.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce A. (Stoltz) Kiser whom he married May 16, 1953; children, John E. (Amy) Kiser, Jr., Steve (Jerilyn) Kiser, Donna (Ron) Kiser-Weyant and Gary Kiser all of Greenville; grandchildren, William, Myra, Josh, Joyce, Holly, Ronald, Jr., Douglas, Suzanna and Brittany; 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Kiser of Greenville; and a sister Georgia Mae Fraley of Eaton.

Services will be held Friday, November 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with the Chaplain Bill Phipps officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Cancer Association of Darke County.

Claribel L. Carpenter age 82 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 4:57 PM at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She was born on July 20, 1928 in Spartanburg, Indiana, to the late Roy Warren and Ruth (Miller) Warren Bond.

Claribel was a cook at the Chicken Kitchen and was a member of the Palestine Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Carpenter; son in law, Donnie McClure; brother, Richard Warren; sisters, Mary Gertrude Vaughn and Betty Alexander.

She is survived by her daughter, Rosalee McClure of Greenville; grandchildren, Shawn McClure and Tonya McClure; great grandchildren, Matthew McClure, Brandon McClure and Andrew McClure; sister, Virginia Hill of Richmond, IN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a service held on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 2:30 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville with Pastor Mike Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Ohio. Family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Arthur E. "Ed" Hayes (November 12, 2010)

Arthur E. "Ed" Hayes, Jr., 64, of Greenville, passed away early Friday morning, November 12, 2010 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

He was born in Greenville, son of the late Arthur E. Hayes, Sr. and Nadine V. (Wood) Hayes-Clemens. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Arthur E. Hayes, III; a sister, Artha Deena Crawley and a brother, Fredrick D. Hayes.

Ed had served as the Police Chief for Gettysburg and New Madison; He had also spent time on the Greenville Police Department. He was a veteran of the 77th Engineers, 1st U.S. Army. He was a member of the Triumphant Christian Center in Greenville.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Hope (Means) Hayes; children, Anita Best of Ansonia, Edward Hayes of Berryville, VA, Tim (Shannon) Hayes of Greenville, Kathy (Jeremy) Burke of Ansonia, Jenny (Chris) Muenver of Berryville, VA, Joseph Hayes of Phoenix, AZ, Chad (Kathy) Presley of Marietta, OH, Nathan (Ronica) Presley of Cincinnati, Steve (Jade) Hayes of Fayettsville, NC, Jonathan (Danelle) Hayes, Ariella Hayes, and Ashton Hayes all of Greenville; 24 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Melva K. Lacey and Alberta Plessinger both of Greenville; a brother, Alfred Hayes of Greenville; numerous nieces and nephews; and Ed was the guardian for Jaime Pierce of Greenville.

A memorial service will be held Monday, November 15 11:30 a.m. at the Triumphant Christian Center in Greenville with the Rev. Sam Shilot officiating. Private burial with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will take place at a later time in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Robert J. Grilliot (November 8, 2010)

Robert J. Grilliot age 94 of Yorkshire, Ohio, passed away at 10:20 P.M. on Monday, November 8, 2010 at Versailles Health Care Center. Robert was born January 20, 1916 in Sidney, Ohio, to the late Clarence L. and Elizabeth C. (Frantz) Grilliot.

Robert was a retired farmer. He formerly worked at Minster Canning Company, where he was the farm manager. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, stationed at Pearl Harbor. Robert was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles. He was a lifetime member of the Versailles Knights of Columbus; Osgood American Legion and Versailles V.F.W.

In addition to his parents, Robert is also preceded in death by his wife, Elsie M. (Schlecty) Grilliot on September 19, 2005, whom he married November 9, 1966; and brothers, sisters and in-laws, Ralph and Alma (Bruns) Grilliot, Marjorie and Otto Kremer, Omer and Mary (Crites) Grilliot, Evelyn and Vernon Hull, June and Herbert Schlarman, Edward and Mara (Popova) Grilliot, Ralph Harlett, Noah Simons, Lois (Bruggeman) Grilliot, Fredrick and Margie (Higgins) Grilliot and Martin Grilliot; and 2 nieces.

Robert is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia Harlett of Bryon Center, Michigan, Kate Simons of Versailles, Milrita and Richard Goodell of Franklin, North Carolina, and Helena and Wilfred Bruns of Tipp City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and JoAnn Grilliot of Delphos, Elmer Grilliot of Yorkshire, Carl and Thelma Grilliot of Loxahatchee, Florida, Clarence and Doris Grilliot of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and Louis and Kathy Grilliot of New Knoxville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 9:30 A.M. at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Saturday morning from 8:00 to 9:00 A.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. Wayne D. Wetzel (November 8, 2010)

Wayne D. Wetzel, age 63 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 1:30 P.M. Monday November 8, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital Dayton, Ohio after living a full and loving life. Wayne was born July 22, 1947 in Darke County and the son of the late Darrel and Berniece (Roosa) Wetzel.

Wayne was the owner and operator of Wayne Wetzel Trucking for over 30 years. In his short life he had many friends and will be missed greatly.

He is survived by a son Shane Wetzel of Greenville and a daughter Kristi Wetzel of Vandalia. He was a grandfather to three: Hannah Godown, Amariah Wetzel and Dustin Wetzel. He was recently blessed with a new great grandson Caleb Wetzel. Wayne is also survived by a brother Dennis Wetzel of Greenville; sisters and brothers in law Roberta & David Feltman of Greenville, Carolyn & Jim Sims of Dayton, Betty Lou & Pastor John Johansen of West Milton and Margaret Bixler of Oxford, Ohio. Also numerous nieces and nephews survive as well.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday November 13, 2010 at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor John Johansen officiating. Burial will follow in the Gettysburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. and on Saturday 1 hour prior to the services in the funeral home.

Mildred M. Pearson (November 9, 2010)

Mildred M. Pearson, 90, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 9, 2010 at Heartland of Greenville.

She was born November 28, 1919 in Darke County, daughter to the late John Ernest and Virgil (Laughlin) Gibbons In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Pearson in 1965; a brother, Harold Gibbons; a sister, Ada Mae McMichael; a half brother, James Ancil Gibbons; and four half sisters, Luella LeMaster, Theda Hathaway, Marvel Strait-Morris, and Lavitis Haines.

Mildred was one of the first employees at Corning Glass, retiring after 36 years. She attended the Greenville Missionary Church and was active with the Corning Retirees. She enjoyed playing cards with her card club and the Senior Citizens and when she was able she had been an avid bowler.

Mildred is survived by her children, Nancy (Pete) Hemer of Greenville, Judy (Doug) Baker of Greenville, Carol Bundschuh of Greenville, Sandy (Mike) McClurg of Versailles, Linda Rentschler of Kettering and Michael (Rosie) Pearson of Versailles; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; a brother, Lester (Annabel) Gibbons of West Carrollton; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Oswalt of New Weston.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 13, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with the Rev. Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery.

Jacqueline "Jackie" M. Harris 54, of Rockbridge, Ohio passed away November 6th 2010 at Grant Medical Center Columbus, Ohio. Jackie was born Sept. 9, 1956 in Dayton OH to Robert and Faye (Fields) Freeman. She was an associate of T. S. Trim in Canal Winchester, OH since 2001. Surviving are Husband of 32 years Richard D. Harris; sons Robert D. Harris of Rockbridge; Randolph D. Harris of Backlick; sister Theresa (Edwin) Wiest of Galloway; Brothers Robert C. Freeman of Dayton; Daniel E. Freeman of Greenville. 5 nieces and nephews, Troy Wiest, Tish Wiest, Matt Harris, Russell Harris, Heather Tully; Mother-in-Law Gussie Anderson of Rockbridge and several extended family members. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, sister Phyllis Freeman-Kunk, Infant son Ray Harris. Barbara Sue Drew age 70 of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 5:09 PM at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was born on July 22, 1940 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Charles and Evelyn (Meier) Drew.

Barbara retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville and loved painting, reading her bible, making jewelry and ceramics.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Larry Drew; sister, Carol Joan Drew; and niece Diana Emerick.

She is survived by her sisters and brothers in law, Deanna nd Rodney Henninger of Arcanum, Ohio, Vicki and Jack Young of Palestine, Ohio, and Linda and Jerry Emerick of Greenville, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.

Donald E. Beasecker (October 30, 2010)

Donald Eugene Beasecker age 78 of Kodak, Tennessee and formerly of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away at 10:20 A.M. on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at his daughter and son-in-law’s residence in Morehead, Kentucky. Donald was born August 1, 1932 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late John M. and Lova E. (Turrell) Beasecker.

Donald was an Industrial Engineer. He worked at N.C.R. in Dayton for 20 years and was also a Corrections Officer for the Pinellas County Sherriff’s Department in Clearwater, Florida for 13 years.

Donald is survived by his wife, Yvonne B. (Brinegar) Beasecker whom he married on September 26, 1959. He is also survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Dawna Beasecker of Kodak, Tennessee and Sandra and Daryl Williamson of Morehead, Kentucky; 4 grandchildren; Elizabeth Hutchinson of Morehead, Kentucky, Rachel Wells of Twenty Nine Palms, California, Robert Williamson of San Diego, California, and Stephen Williamson of Morehead, Kentucky; 8 great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Beasecker of Greenville, Ohio and Walter Beasecker of Arcanum, Ohio.

Donald was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a Mason and a Methodists.

Donald was a loving- caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.

Cindy Winterrowd (October 30, 2010)

Cindy (Spencer) Winterrowd went to be with her Lord on Saturday October 30, 2010. She was born in Richmond, IN on December 23, 1944 as the daughter of Lowell and Wyoneda (Wiley) Spencer (now Stephens) of Hollansburg. She is survived by her husband Ted of Fort Myers, FL, a daughter, Carmen Beasley, of Akron, OH, and a son Troy, of Asheville NC and four grandchildren. She is the sister of Ginger Brubaker of Greenville and Toby Spencer of New Madison. She graduated from Westmont High School and lived in Columbus, IN for most of her adult life. While in Columbus, she served as administrative assistant to the Human Rights Commission. In recent years, she and her husband have lived in Fort Myers, FL, Beijing, China, and Uniontown, OH. She was a member of McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday November 4, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church 202 West Fourth Street Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Joe Payne officiating. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday from 9 A.M. until time of the services in the Church. Immediately following the memorial service, family and friends are invited to attend a lunch which will be served in the Fellowship Hall of the Church. Burial will be held later in the Teegarden Cemetery near Ansonia, Ohio.

Dorothy L. (Walker) Stanford, 48, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2010 at her residence. Dorothy was born November 23, 1961 to the late Billy and Patricia (Meers) Walker.

Dorothy’s one joy in life was spending time with her daughter Jessica.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by an infant brother.

Dorothy is survived by a three daughters; Jessica Harrison of Greenville, Charity Thomas and Brandy Stanford both of Georgia; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Lynn, Madison Thomas and Anika Thomas.

Funeral service will be at the convenience of the family, burial will follow in Kennesaw Georgia.
