She was retired from the former Snell Restaurant of Greenville, a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Greenville and for many years enjoyed working with various crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step mother Winnie (Becholt) Blumenstock, her husband Edward “Joe” Schafer July 20, 1998 and her brother Gerald Blumenstock also in 1998.
Esther is survived by her sons and daughter in law: Jack and Pat Schafer Sr., of West Milton and James Schafer of Greenville. Her grandchildren and spouses: Candi & Ty Hissong, Kristi and Pat Studer, Jack Schafer Jr., and Jami and Rusty Bookout. Great grandchildren and spouse: Nichole and Ben Barr, Dustin Studer, Nicholas Hissong, Abigail Hissong, Ashlee Bookout and Amanda Bookout. Great great grandchildren: Tyler Barr and Alex Barr. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday October 8, 2010 at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Alan Knoke officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12 noon until time of the services in the funeral home.
It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to St. John Lutheran Church Greenville, Ohio.
