Elmer H. Stuck (July 1, 2013)

Elmer H. Stuck age 96, of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 12:30 P.M. on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Elmer was born February 14, 1917 in North Star, Ohio to the late Carl & Bertha (Rismiller) Stuck.

Elmer is survived by a son & daughter-in-law, George & Marcella Stuck of Versailles; daughter & son-in-law, Nancy & Rick Shepherd of Greenville; grandchildren, Angela R. & Mike Rosengarden, Aimee M. & Steve Hoelscher, Jeffery A. Stuck, Amanda N. & Kurt Bergman, Jennifer L. & Mike Masters, Matthew H. & Melanie Gibson, Jason L. & Kristi Gibson and Joshua R. Gibson; step grandchildren, Shelly & Doug Williams, Todd & Natasha Shepherd and Latavia Knipp; 22 great-grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Pastor John & Barbara Stuck of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Elmer is also preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Edith (Faulkner) Stuck on June 8, 1990 whom he married January 10, 1946 in Boston, Massachusetts; brothers, Pastor Werner Stuck and Harold J. Stuck; and sisters, Edith Brandt and Caroline Isenhouer.

Elmer retired from farming after 60 years; he enjoyed farming and was still active up to his death. Elmer formerly worked at Frigidaire in Dayton for 9 years. Elmer served in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he was a Pharmacist Mate. Elmer was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Star and the church choir; life member of the North Star American Legion Post 174; and life member of the Darke County Farm Bureau. Elmer enjoyed his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church 13495 Greenville-St. Marys Rd. Versailles with Pastor Laura Shreffler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery with Military graveside services conducted by the North Star American Legion Post 174. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 4, 2013 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Darke County Cancer Association, State of the Heart Hospice or St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund.
