He was born December 25, 1926, in York Center, Ohio, to the late Willis W. & Helen (Bitler) Hill. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Mitch Raper; brothers, Walter and Carl Hill; sisters, Pauline Orr, Ruth Adkins and Helen Louise Hill; sisters-in-law, Dottie Hill and Thelma Hill; and brother-in-law, George Reis.
Dick is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce J. (Bell) Hill; children, Kim Raper of Anderson, Indiana, Bev & Tony Titus of Indianapolis, Indiana and Tim & Cheryl Hill of Greenville, Ohio; grandchildren, Molly & Sam Price, Dusty & Michelle Hill, Gabe Raper, Ben & Ann Titus and Blake Titus; great-grandchildren, Annie Price, Will Price, Jacyn Titus, Hattie Titus and Jaxon Hill; brother, Chuck Hill of Dublin, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Hill of Marion, Ohio, Brenda Webster of Columbus, Ohio, Cheryl Reis of Dublin, Ohio and Ruth Bell of Portsmouth, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dick served in the U.S. Army during WWII in which he was a Private First Class in the 185 2nd Area Service Unit. He owned and operated Dick Hill Insurance Service in Greenville from 1966 to 1992. Dick was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church in Greenville, Greenville American Legion and Greenville Moose Lodge. He was former Past Master of the Gettysburg Grange.
A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Japheth Bear and Rev. Don Myers officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the funeral home, followed by full Military Honors conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard.
