Jerry was born November 1, 1933, in Russia, Ohio, to the late Francis H. “Frenchie” & Matilda “Tillie” (Wissman) Paulus. In addition to his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Kenneth McCoy; brother, Jim Paulus; sister, Shirley Ann Paulus; and a brother-in-law, John Butkus.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rose Mary (Herbon) Paulus whom he married November 17, 1956; children, Brenda McCoy of Greenville, David & Anna Maria Paulus of Texas, Dan & Sue Paulus of Minster, Robert & Jennifer Paulus of Versailles, Ann & Greg Forbes of Michigan, Andrew & Lisa Paulus of Versailles, Diane & Christopher Heeter of Dayton and Susan & Mark Clack of Versailles; 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marge Paulus of Celina and Betty Butkus of Centerville; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Pete & Carol Herbon of Vandalia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated Versailles Furniture Mart for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Jim Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles with full military honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
