Avo L. Sleppy (May 29, 2016)

Avo L. Sleppy, age 92, of Ft. Jefferson, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 1:45 PM at her residence. She was born on March 24, 1924 in Ft. Jefferson, Ohio, to the late Clisbia & Margeurite (Broughman) Wood.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth L. (Edith) Sleppy Jr. of Greenville, Charles (Fiancee Connie) Sleppy of Greenville, June (Tom) Maloy of Greenville and Lesa (Will Rush) Eberhart of Union City, OH; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren; 3 step great great grandchildren; siblings, Wanetta Wissinger of West Milton, OH, Edith Cook of Greenville and Gail (Jack) Fair; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Leroy Sleppy, Sr., whom she married on July 21, 1945; son, Donald Sleppy; daughter in law, Diane Sleppy; brother and sister in law, Robert & Carolyn Wood; sisters, Nadine Clemens, Cora May Ward and Mary Gasper; grandsons, Brian Sleppy and Doug Sleppy; step granddaughter, Tonyia Chadwick; step great grandson, Austin Chadwick and son in law, John Eberhart.

Avo was a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church and a lifetime member of the Greenville VFW and American Legion. She was a housewife and loved fishing and reading.

There will be a memorial service held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Eric Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Ft. Jefferson, Ohio. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at funeral home.
