She was born March 1, 1942 in Greenville, daughter of Wavalene (Eley) Bromagem of Greenville and the late Walter Bromagem, Sr. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Franklin, Sr.
A homemaker, Shirley was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Dawn) Franklin, John Franklin and Jessica Ferrante all of Greenville; grandchildren, Rachel, Bobby, Amber, Allison and Jayden; brothers, Gerald (Shelia) Bromagem and Walter (Debbie) Bromagem; sisters, Linda (Jim) Knick, Sylvia (Ivan) Stryker, Judy (Ed) Baker, and Nancy (Junior) Bryant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 12, at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenville with Fr. John White officiaitng.
There will be no public visitation. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Heartland Hospice.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville.
