Betty M. Minnich (June 3, 2011)

Betty M. Minnich age 84 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away at 10:03 P.M. on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Vitas Hospice in Dayton. Betty was born October 14, 1926 in Fayette County, Ohio, to the late Roy B. & Neda (Pyle) Stires.

Betty retired in 1991 from Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville where she was a nurse’s aid for 18 years.

In addition to her parents, Betty is also preceded in death by her 1st husband, James B. Spurlock on October 29, 1955 whom she married December 27, 1947; 2nd husband, Lewis A. Minnich on April 6, 1981 who she married December 1, 1973; son, James Spurlock; step daughters, Barbara Cotterman and Martha Oldham; brother, Gerald Stires; and sisters, Juanita Stires and Sylvia Stires.

Betty is survived by a son & daughter-in-law, LeeRoy & Susan Spurlock of Greenville; daughter & son-in-law, Anita & Ron Claxton of Versailles; step son, Roy Minnich of Greenville; step daughters & step sons-in-law, Phyllis & Walter Summers of Greenville, Mabel & Bill Kiser of Greenville, Faye Lines of Greenville and Betsy Grimes of Richmond, Indiana; grandchildren, Beckam Poling, Dawn Thompson, Betty Meyer, Jami Marburger and Roni Lynn Thompson; 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren; brother, Roderick Stires of Xenia; sisters & brothers-in-law, Donnabelle & George Cooper of Washington Courthouse, Annabelle Cooper of Washington Courthouse, Ruth & Stoney Patrick of Milledgeville, Ohio and Kathleen Arnold of Washington Courthouse; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Tim Schrock officiating. Burial will follow in Stelvideo Cemetery in Greenville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
