Charlene Virginia Baker, 75 of Greenville, passed away early Tuesday morning August 7, 2012 at Claire Bridge Cottage at Sterling House in Greenville, OH.
She was born October 31, 1936 in Hamilton, OH, daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Stout) Beatty.
Charlene was a graduate of the Deaconess Nursing School in Cincinnati, OH. She spent over 40 years as a registered nurse at Wayne Hospital before retiring in 1999 from the Obstetrics Department. She was a member of the former Christ Church on Eidson Road in Greenville, OH. She loved to travel and had visited 48 of the 50 states.
She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Baker; sons, John Robert (Jennifer) Baker, MD, PhD, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Dale Allen (Susan) Baker, PhD, of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Daniel A. Baker, Rebecca A. Baker, Jackson R. Baker, and Johanna E. Baker; and brothers, Joseph (Pepper) Beatty of West Chester, OH, and Thomas (Dee) Beatty of Liberty, IN.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, August 10, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery near Palestine.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 1:30 till 2:30 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to either the Wayne Hospital Auxiliary or Heartland Hospice.
