Orville Hoos, 78, of Richmond and formerly of New Madison, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 20, 2012 at his residence. He was born on March 22, 1934 to the late Peter and Ina Alexander (Harrison) Hoos.
Orville was a former Mayor of New Madison, and a member of the New Madison Kiwanis where he served as the Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis for the State of Ohio. He was a member of New Paris Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon. Orville was also a great fan of baseball and the Cincinnati Reds.
In addition to his parents, Orville is preceded in death by his wife, Woodice (Eliason) Hoos, who passed away in 1997 and eleven brothers and sisters.
Orville is survived by two sons, Bob Hoos of Centerville, Indiana and George Hoos of New Hampshire; a daughter, Carol Dill of Ormond Beach, Florida; four grandchildren, William Tripp, Daniel Tripp, Zachariah Hoos and Candice Hoos; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Morgan and Grace; one brother, Howard Alexander, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, August 24, 2012 from 4-7 PM at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 10 AM also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery. The family request memorial contributions be given to American Heart Association in honor of Orville. Donations will be accepted at the funeral home.
