Opal V. Nixon age 95, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 12:50 P.M. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville. Opal was born May 27, 1918 in Darke County, Ohio to the late William H. & Hazel N. (Shields) Marker.
Opal is survived by a son & daughter-in-law, Steve & Linda Nixon of Greenville; daughter & son-in-law, Judy & Jack Alexander of Greenville; grandchildren, Doug & Cindy Alexander, Lori & Brad Pearson and Jason & Sara Alexander; great grandchildren, Randi Alexander, Jessica Alexander, Maci Daniel, Jonathan Pearson, Hannah Pearson, Madison Alexander and Chloe Alexander; brothers & sisters-in-law, Chalmer & Jan Marker of Greenville, Harold & Shirley Marker of Greenville, William Richard Marker of Versailles; sister & brother-in-law, Marlene & Ralph Hartle of Greenville; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Nixon of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Opal is also preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Alva Nixon on April 23, 1962 whom she married May 6, 1942; and a sister, Evelyn Coblentz.
Opal retired from Corning Glass in Greenville with 26 years of service from 1957 to 1983. Opal was a member of Beamsville Christian Church and Corning Retirees. Opal loved to travel and sew.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Steve Short officiating. Burial will follow in Stelvideo Cemetery in Stelvideo. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
