Maxine Joan (Coon) Hays, 81, of Hollansburg, Ohio, passed away on November 27, 2015 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Maxine was born September 8, 1934 in Jennings County, Indiana to the late William and Minnie (Hatfield) Coon.
Maxine was a homemaker during her life. She was a graduate of North Vernon High School and a lifelong member of the St. Paul Episcopal Church in Greenville. Maxine loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Maxine is preceded in death by a son, Michael Hays; grandson, Christopher Gene Wilt; brother, George Coon and a sister, Mary Wheeler. Special friends Howard & Ruth Mary O'Dell, Nancy Dill.
Maxine is survived by her husband of 49 years, Carl Hays; daughters, Carla Jo (Dan) Mintkenbaugh and Catherine Minnie Hays both of Hollansburg; grandchildren, Brooke Mintkenbaugh, Shelby Mintkenbaugh, Hannah Hays, Stephen Hays and Ashley Hays; great grandchildren, Hadley Hays and Jayvyn Hays; brothers, William Coon of Richmond and Clyde Coon of Hagerstown; a sister, Bertha Coon of North Vernon; and special friends MaryAnn Webb, George O'Dell, and Larry O'Dell and their families.
Friends may visit Tuesday, December 1, 2015, 6 - 8 PM at Braund Pope Funeral Home in New Madison. A celebration of life service will be held on December 2, 2015, 1 PM also at the funeral home with Rev. Eric Fee officiating. Burial will follow in the Hollansburg Cemetery. Family request memorial contributions be given to the St. Paul Episcopal Church in Greenville.
