Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenna E. (Eubank) Batten whom he married September 24, 1960; sons & daughters-in-law, Douglas R. Batten & Linda Robinson of Richmond, Indiana and Jeffrey A. & Jeanne Batten of Englewood; grandchildren, Katie Shuttleworth, LaNelle Tuggle, Camron Batten, Liam Batten, Colin Batten, Chasity Shepherd and Christina Burdge; several great-grandchildren; twin brother, Larry J. Batten of Versailles; sister-in-law, Betty Batten of Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jerry was also preceded in death by his sisters, Marjorie Cyphers and Joanne Cruze; and brothers, Delmer Batten and Lloyd Batten.
Jerry retired in January 2004 from JV Products in Arcanum where he worked for 31 years. Jerry also worked at Staub Laser in Dayton for 5 years and Raymath Company in Troy for 3 years. Jerry was a member of Woodington Congregational Christian Church. He was caretaker for Butler Township Cemetery for many years. Jerry saved pop can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House and aluminum cans for the Shriners.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Harve Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Ft. Jefferson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
