Michael B. Jones (February 26, 2020)

Michael B. Jones was born in the middle of a blizzard on January 7, 1978. He left us peacefully in the midst of a quiet evening snowstorm on February 26, 2020. He was deeply loved by his mother, and their profound connection with one another spanned all of his 42 years on this earth. Mike was not just a great lover of animals. Animals loved him. Strays followed him home. Grumpy pets known for having no affection for any creature great or small gravitated to him like he was a long-lost brother. He was fascinated by the inner workings of mechanical toys as a boy, and more consequential machines as a man. He enjoyed taking them apart and seeing if he could put them back together in working order. He loved his children. He was a fan of The University of Kentucky basketball team, a loyalty formed from lengthy stays at Shriners Hospital for Children in Lexington. He was born with spina bifida, the birth defect that eventually took his life. A donation to Shriners or The Spina Bifida Association in his name would mean everything to his family. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Avery R. and Nycole A. Spencer; granddaughter, Gwin S.A. Spencer; daughter, Hadley M. Jones; mother, Judy K. Jones (née Henson); brother, Matthew S. Birt, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Rest in peace, Jonesy. You are loved. Arrangements are being handled by Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
