Duane D. Denniston (August 7, 2020)

Duane D. Denniston, age 86 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 9:58 AM at Resthaven Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio. Born in Jackson Township; Darke County, Ohio on July 28, 1934 he was one of 3 sons to the late Raymond “Jake” & Helen (Young) Denniston. Duane was a graduate of Palestine High School, and in March of 1957, he married the love of his life, Thelma. Duane went on to enlist in the United States Army from 1957-1959, and served part of that time in Germany. He retired in 1996 from FRAM where he worked for 44 years. Duane was a member of the Fort Jefferson United Methodist Church and had served as sexton for 10 years at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Fort Jefferson. He also served on the Neave Township Zoning Board of Appeals. Later in life he really enjoyed woodworking. He had a woodshop in his barn, and made any and everything you could think of. One of his greatest joys was giving things he made to people, whether he knew them or not. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Donald Denniston; Robert “Bob” & Marilyn Denniston.

Survived by his wife of 63 years, Thelma ( Pearson) Denniston of Greenville: children David & Suzy (Goodwin) Denniston of Pleasantville, Ohio; Carolyn Burrow of Lancaster, Ohio; Mark Denniston of Circleville, Ohio: grandchildren Abbey (Denniston) & Joey Ensley; Rachel Denniston; Corey Burrow: brothers- in- law Carl & Elaine Pearson; Clifton & Vickie Pearson: sister-in-law Wavelene Denniston: special friends Lowell “Bud’ & Janice House; Norman & Barbara Weimer: his beloved dog “Skeeter”: as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services for Duane are to be private per the family’s request. Burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Jefferson, Ohio.
