John David Myers (December 28, 2016)

John David Myers, 77, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at his residence.

He was born July 8, 1939 in Darke County, Ohio, a son of the late Oscar and Pearl (Davidson) Myers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brent David Corn; sisters, Marylin Myers and Phyllis Magoto; brothers, Bill ,Robert and Donald Myers.

John was a member of First Assembly of God in Greenville, was a realtor for over 47 years and a United States Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife Connie Myers, whom he married December 31, 1961; daughter, Susan (Mark) Hartrum of Greenville, Ohio; son, Robert Allan (Melinda Jean) Myers of Newburg, IN; grandchildren, Kristen Beth Jurgens, Kaylee Brooke Hartrum, John Thomas Myers and Abby Elizabeth Myers; brother, Jack Meyers of Greenville, Ohio; sisters, Betty Jo Price and Barbara Ginger, both of Greenville, Ohio.

A Celebration of life will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at First Assembly of God, 7219 ST RT 118, Greenville, OH with pastor Dale Boeger officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit at the Oliver Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville on Monday, January 2, 2017, from 4 PM to 7 PM.

William Jack Meckes (December 29, 2016)

William Jack Meckes, age 91, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 8:48 AM at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio. He was born on October 16, 1925 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Pete & Irene (Helms) Meckes.

He is survived by his wife, June (Coppock) Meckes whom he married on February 3, 1944; son and daughter in law, Michael & Shelley Meckes of Greenville; daughter and son in law, Kimberly & Ned Sebring of Greenville; grandchildren, Dustin Meckes, Tiffany Dickie, Jim (Lavonne) Campbell and Cynthia (Dick) Hill; great granddaughter, Charlie Dickey and several other grandchildren; sister and brother in law, Patricia & Richard Faulknor of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings, Thomas Meckes, John Meckes and Mary Jo Brock.

He owned and operated Butter Top Bakery in Greenville and was part owner of Peanut Barrel and the Greenville Flower Shop. He also worked in insurance sales and dispatcher. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville, VFW, American Legion, Elks and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the United States Navy.

There will be a private service held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Betty Tinkham, 61, of Greenville, OH, passed away, Friday, December 23, 2016 at Heartland Of Greenville.

Betty was born Monday, April 18, 1955 in Greenville, OH, a daughter of the late Arthur and Stella Koons.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law’s, Rick Broomhall and Jim Gross

Betty worked for Heartland of Greenville , Taco Bell and Master Industries.
She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Betty is survived by her Husband, of 14 years, Don Tinkham of Greenville, whom she married September 6, 2002.; daughter, Casey Hoff of Greenville; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Becca Hoff of Greenville; granddaughters, Elizabeth N. and Skylynn M.; brothers, Henry and Janet Koons of Indiana and Bob and Sue Koons of Indiana; sister, Dorothy Jones of Bradford; her former husband, David Hoff of Greenville; sister-in-law’s, Glenna Broomhall, Teresa Gross and Tam Hoff all of Greenville; several nieces and nephews.

Betty's family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and staff at Heartland of Greenville for the special care given to Betty during her stay there.

Lucas Russell Frye, 35, of Greenville, OH, passed away, Saturday, December 24, 2016 at his Residence

Lucas was born Monday, December 7, 1981 in Greenville, OH.

Lucas is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles N. and Dorothy Frye; maternal grandparents, Russell A. and Betty L. Thobe; and grandmother-in-law, Doris A. Siders-Gray.

Lucas was employed at Whirlpool as a maintenance journeyman. Lucas loved to ride his motorcycle and spend time with his wife and children. He enjoyed being involved with his children's sporting events and loved playing softball.

Lucas is survived by his wife, of 13 years, Julia M. (Siders) Frye of Greenville, whom he married Saturday, June 21, 2003; his children, Trinity and Connor Frye; his parents, Larry D. and Linda S. (Thobe) Frye of Union City, OH; brothers, Larry C. and Kassi Frye of Greenville and Daniel Frye of Arcanum; sister, Tisha and Mike Gibson of New Weston; sisters-in-law, Jami and Chad Etter of Bradford and Lori and Michael Guthrie of Greenville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Brian K. and Joyce A. Siders of Greenville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Oliver Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. Dinner will follow the burial at Greenville Eagles 113. Third Street Greenville, Ohio.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Lloyd A. Hangen; son: James Jacob Schreiner; brother: Emmett Friend Price; sisters: Evelyn Stonerock, & Clara Winona “Noni” Oliver; brother in law: James Stonerock; sister in law: Anita (Kincaid) Price.

Edith L. (Bryson) Hunt (December 18, 2016)

Edith L. (Bryson) Hunt, age 65 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:18 PM Sunday December 18, 2016 at the Brethren Retirement Community. Edith was born November 9, 1951 in Union City, Indiana and the daughter of the late Marvin and Martha Mae (Witters) Bryson.

She had formerly been employed as a Machinist at Corning Inc. of Greenville. Edith enjoyed being with her family, cooking and was a Jehovah’s Witnesses.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Larry Bryson.

Edith is survived by her children Chad (Stephanie) Hunt, Elaine Hunt and Patsy (Tony) Deubner all of Greenville; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers Eugene Bryson and Neil Bryson, both of Greenville; sisters Janet (Larry) Mitcham of Pflugerville, Texas, Debbie (Dennis) Newman of Ansonia, Connie Green of Piqua and Vicky Grilliot of Yorkshire as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was truly loved by all!!

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday December 31, 2016 in the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall 6688 Ludy Road Greenville, Ohio with Brother Scott Wilson officiating.

She was a homemaker and worked at Fram for 30 years retiring June 1, 1982; she also volunteered at Wayne Hospital and for Community Action Partnership for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents: husband: Don F. Wentworth; sons: Jerry Wentworth & 1 in infancy; daughter: Carol Clausen; brothers: Leonard & Raymond Edwards; sister: Leanora Hiatt.

Daniel F. Harless (December 17, 2016)

Daniel F. Harless, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 17, 2016. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Ann (Thompson) Harless; son, Daniel Scott; and parents, Lester “Mike” and Helen Harless of Wabash IN.

Born March 29, 1937, Dan was a native and life-long resident of Greenville and active member and trustee of First United Methodist Church of Greenville. He was also an active Rotarian for over 30 years. He owned and operated Treaty Travel in Greenville until retiring in 2002. After retiring, he served at the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, and as docent at the Garst Museum.

Dan is survived by sons, D. Robert Harless of Columbus, OH and David (Yolanda) Harless of Colorado Springs, CO; brother Melvin (Lavonne) Harless of Poulsbo WA; sister Gloria Jean (Bill) Cooksey of Warsaw, IN; sister Vicki (Don) Lee of Wabash IN; grandson David (Ryann) Harless of Aubrey, TX; granddaughter Tamara Harless of Colorado Springs, CO; great-granddaughter Alexis Grace and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Greenville on Thursday, January 5th, at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Red Cross.

Gary L. Brown, 79 Beloved, husband, father and grandfather of New Madison, Ohio passed away on Tuesday December 20, 2016 at 4:56 PM at Reid Hospital, Richmond, Indiana. He was born February 2, 1937 in Dayton, Ohio the son of the late Lee E. & Hazel M. (Campbell) Brown.

He worked at Shellar Globe for 28 years and Witt Plastics/Klockner Penaplast for 35 years until his death.

He is survived by his wife: Betty J. Gladys Irene Deaton, 91, of Greenville, OH, passed away, Monday, December 19, 2016 at Heartland of Greenville.

Gladys was born Wednesday, April 22, 1925 in Darke County OH, a daughter of the late Ralph and Lydia (Wade) Bowman.

In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Deaton, whom she was married to for 68 years and a sister, Lucille Bowman.

Gladys was a homemaker. Gladys and Jack enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with their family. Gladys was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.

Gladys is survived by daughters, Karen and Neil Skiver and Kathy Fisher (Gene Robbins); grandchildren, Kelly (Philip Booker) Thwaits, Teresa and Walt Taylor, Ranee and Niles Richards and Rodney and Abbey Fisher; great grandchildren, Kohl, Krue, Kayge, Keris, Teha, Torie, Grant and Haylee; sisters, Ethel Hogg, Dorothy Townsend, Marlene Bowman and Barbara Pacheco; several nieces and nephews.

Thomas A. Jeffers age 78, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 11:52 P.M. on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at his residence. Thomas was born August 12, 1938, in Oneida, Tennessee, to the late Archie & Artie (Williams) Jeffers.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Beverly S. (Cassel) Jeffers whom he married August 30, 1955; children & spouses, Terri & Brian Clark, Vicki & Greg Powell, Tami & Mark Ryan, Guy & Peggy Jeffers, Todd & Karen Jeffers, Mindy & Kent Davis, Gregory Jeffers I and Michelle & Shawn Davidson; 30 grandchildren & spouses and 22 great-grandchildren & spouses; sisters & brother-in-law, Jane Lanning, Rita & Ellis Haydon and Lazette Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Thomas served in the U.S. Army. Thomas owned & operated Classic Reproductions in Greenville.

Yvonne (Snyder) Mangen, age 78, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 4:19 AM at Wayne HealthCare, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on December 3, 1938 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Clyde & Vinnie (Zeller) Snyder.

She is survived by son, Tom Mangen of Versailles; daughter, Lisa Mangen of Versailles; granddaughters, Alie & Jena Mangen; sister, Violet “Duck” Curtis of Versailles; brothers in law, Don Yagle of Ansonia, Ohio, and Cyril Mangen of Celina, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Glen Thomas "Tom" Mangen; siblings, Dale Snyder, Vivian Ungericht, Esther McEldowney, Marge McGreevy, Bob Snyder, Ruth Wentworth, Ruby Yagle and Annola Allread.

Yvonne is a member of St. Denis Catholic Church and the Eagles Auxiliary. She worked at Sideliners in Versailles. She enjoyed camping and most of all watching her granddaughters sporting events.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, 14 E. Wood St., Versailles, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. Jim Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio. Joyce Ann Hinkle, of Gettysburg, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 6:43 AM due to an automobile accident. She was born on October 28, 1952 in Greenville, Ohio. She is dearly loved by her parents Charles & Grace Evangeline (Riffell) Hinkle of Greenville, Ohio.

In addition to her parents Joyce will be very missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Joyce worked at McDonalds for over 20 years. She was a graduate of Gettysburg High School in 1970 before attended Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana majoring in Music.

There will be a service held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Pleasant View Missionary Church, 5231 Gettysburg-Pitsburg Rd., Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Frank Beard officiating. Carolyn Rhodes, age 74 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:00 AM Sunday December 11, 2016 in the Miami Valley Hospital Dayton, Ohio. Carolyn was born February 8, 1942 in Greenville and the daughter of the late James Howard and Pearl (Martin) Plessinger.

She had formerly worked at the K-Mart Store in Greenville and enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Fredrick Rhodes Sr., daughter Kelly Clark and brother Michael Plessinger.

Carolyn is survived by her children Tammy Mitchell, Jami Rhodes both of Greenville, Jerry Rhodes of Sevierville, Tenn. and William Fredrick Rhodes Jr. of Greenville; grandchildren Shannon Rhodes, Todd Clark, Kristen Bowling, Dennis Mitchell, Ashley Mitchell, Shawana Pritchard and Nathan Young; great grandchildren Kayleigh Strong, Ashlyn Bowling, Aubree Mitchell, Emma Mitchell, Lillian Mitchell, Shayleigh Rhodes, Keegan Clark, Kageen Clark, Kaitlynn Clark, Nevaeh Clark, Makayla Clark, Jerry Lee Pritchard, Sierra Young and Shellby Pritchard; great great grandchild Elyjah Michael Taylor; brothers Randy Plessinger of Germany, Don Plessinger and James Plessinger, both of Greenville as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold Lee Armstrong, 62, of Greenville, OH, passed away, Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Kindred Hospital in Dayton, OH.

Harold was born October 30,1954 in Dayton, Ohio, a son of the late Harold Lloyd and Mary Ann (Schmitz) Armstrong .

Lee was preceded in death by his parents.

Lee was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville. He was an avid automobile enthusiast. He enjoyed carpentry, broadway theatre and loved animals. He has also been a volunteer paramedic for the city of Greenville.

Lee is survived by his sister, Diann Manning of Greenville; aunt and uncle, Phyllis and W. T. Lewis of Union City, OH; uncle, Richard Steenrod of Florida; and numerous cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on at 9:00 am on Monday December 19, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Fr. John White officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery.

Juanita Pearl Ungericht, 95, of Greenville, OH, passed away, Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.

Juanita was born Tuesday, December 13, 1921 in Lightsville, OH, a daughter of the late Royce and Bessie (Smith) Jessup.

In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Ungericht and two brothers, John and Kenneth Jessup.

Juanita was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, American Legion and Women of the Moose all of Greenville.

Juanita is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kerry and Linda Ungericht of Greenville; sister, Peggy Wright of Union City; sister-in-law, Sue Corle of Van Wert, OH; special friends, Berhane and Trease Belew and their son, Daniel Belew.

A Celebration of life service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Oliver Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Haworth officiating. Burial will be in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Thomas D. Eadler age 69, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away at 12:27 AM on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, in the ER at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville. Thomas was born June 28, 1947, in Richmond, Indiana, to the late Forest & Evelyn (Dalrymple) Eadler.

Thomas is survived by his children, Douglas Eadler of New Madison, Alysa & Jeff Collins of New Madison and Jon Eadler of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Jonathan Eadler, Caitlyn Eadler and Chase Collins; brother & sister-in-law, Dave & Robin Eadler of New Madison; sister & brother-in-law, Mary Beth & Pat Ryan of Tipp City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was also preceded in death by a sister, Carol Koons; and a brother, Steve Eadler.

Thomas retired from Dana Perfect Circle in Richmond, Indiana.

Arlis Turner, 92 of New Madison, Ohio passed away on Thursday December 8, 2016 at 9:30 AM at Wayne Healthcare, Greenville, Ohio. He was born May 7, 1924 in Somerset, Kentucky the son of the late David & Nora (Burdine) Turner. He retired from Chrysler Air Temp after 30 years. He served in the Army Air Corp in World War II.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Wanda Turner; daughter: Jennifer Woodard; daughter in law: Delores Houston; grandson: Eddy Floyd.

He is survived by his children: Victor (Sharon Libbee) Houston, Elizabeth Murray, Carlene (Dave) Sands, Darlene Lyme, Arlis Turner, & Lee (Katie) Brandon; son in law: David Woodard; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; brothers: Kenneth Turner, Kurt Turner, Denzell Turner, Ray Turner; sister: Ila Burdine; close friends: Denise & Jerry Holsapple & sons; numerous nieces & nephews.

Wanda June Clawson, age 93, of New Madison, OH, passed away, Monday, December 12, 2016 at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville, OH.

She was born Thursday, April 5, 1923 in Eaton, OH, a daughter of the late Clifford and Violet (Fogle) Charles.

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Clawson, whom she married April 9, 1944; two grandchildren, Jared and Tisha Clawson; and two brothers, George and Tom Charles; and a daughter-in-law, Patty Clawson.

Wanda was a long time member of the Castine Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by two children, Gary Clawson of New Madison, OH, and Cheryl (Gary) McCabe of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Eileen Markey of Eaton, OH and Roberta Eck of West Alexandria, OH; six grandchildren, Barry (Jennifer Michael) McCabe of Tucson, AZ, Brenda (Matt) Reed of Fishers, IN, Ben (Miranda) McCabe of Phoenix, AZ, Justin (Jennifer Kiser) Clawson of New Madison, OH, Tiffany (Brandon) Bowman of Fountain City, IN and Tara (Wyatt) Brown of Columbus, IN; and 11 great-grandchildren

Annie Jo Wagaman, 73, of Greenville, OH, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at her residence.

Annie was born Thursday, August 26, 1943 in Cherokee County, GA,a daughter of the late John and Minnie (Jenkins) Harrison.

In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell G. "Wogie" Wagaman, brothers, William, Paul and Ray Harrison and a sister, Ruth Brooks.

Annie was an avid bowler at Treaty City Lanes. She was a member of the Greenville Moose Lodge and the Greenville Eagles.

Annie is survived by her son, David Harrison and special friend Roxanne Longenecker of Greenville; granddaughter, Jessica Harrison of Greenville; sisters, Ellen Hunter, Hazel Holcomb, Martha O'Nell and Shelby Millsap all of GA; several nieces and nephews.

Sharon L. Mayo, 76, formerly of Ansonia went home to the Lord, Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center.

She was born October 1, 1940 in Winchester, IN to the late Marvin and Edna (Poling) Erwin. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard J. Mayo, on May 24, 1958. Sharon was preceded in death by a brother, Richard “Buddy” Erwin.

She is survived by her husband and her four children, Robert (Lisa) Mayo, Randy (Tracy) Mayo, Eugene (Denise) Mayo and Carol (Wes) Davis; twelve grandchildren, Brandon Mayo, Patrick (Jamie) Mayo, Sara Mayo, Rick (Lauren) Mayo, Stephanie Mayo, Jeff Mayo, Sydney Davis, Jennifer Mayo, Collin Mayo, Nick Mayo, Mark Mayo and Seth Davis; one great grandson, Joseph Grilliot; two brothers, Jim (Norma) Erwin and Ken (Marilyn) Erwin; a sister, Janet (Jerry) Hall; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews.

Denette R. Kinnison age 54, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away at 10:29 AM on Friday, December 9, 2016, at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville after a lengthy illness. Denette was born April 25, 1962, to Donna (Brandon) Miller of Arcanum and Duane (Ann) Kinnison of Sarasota, Florida.

In addition to her parents, Denette was also survived by a son, Cory Miller of Arcanum; brother, Douglas Kinnison of Arcanum; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Denette was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Don and Ruth Brandon.

Denette enjoyed going to Your Happy Place in Greenville an Adult Day Care Center for many months which meant a lot to her.

Harold D. Harrod (December 5, 2016)

Harold D. Harrod, 88, of Rossburg, OH, passed away, Monday, December 5, 2016 at Kindred Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

Harold was born Friday, February 17, 1928 in Fort Loramie, OH, a son of the late Kora and Lula (Baucher) Harrod.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Harrod.

Harold was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Union City, OH. In his earlier years, he hauled milk, worked at Corning and then became a fulltime farmer. Harold was a member of the American Legion in Fort Recovery. He enjoyed playing cards, attending his grandkids sporting events, as well as watching the Cincinnati Reds and college sporting events on TV.

Harold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marlene (Taylor) Harrod of Rossburg, whom he married Sunday, December 6, 1952; his children, Galen and wife Ann Harrod of Rossburg, Bonnie and husband Dave Snider of Greenville, Sally and husband Vernon Brigner of Ansonia and Tom and wife Jayne Harrod of Rossburg; grandchildren, Brian Harrod, Beth Harrod,Kevin (Brittany) Harrod, Sean Snider, Jill (Paul) Struble. Cindy (Mikel) Sinnott, Andy Brigner, Jessica (Kirk) Gower, Nick (Adam) Harrod, Korey (Brittany) Harrod, and Dr. Jennifer (Sean) Gerber; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Bertha Mae Booker of Saline. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Joyce (Deubner) Hoffman whom he married on July 31, 1965; son, Brad Hoffman of Greenville; daughter, Nicole Hoffman of Greenville; grandson, Braxton Hoffman; siblings, Scott & Doris Hoffman of Gettysburg, Ohio, and Diana & Tim Cook of St. Henry, Ohio; brother in law, Alan & Laurie Deubner of Covington, Ohio; best friend, Lady; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his step mother, Ilo M. (Deubner) Hoffman and grandparents, Richard “Dick” & Marie Hoffman.

Butch retired from Corning Glass after 35 years of service as a tradesman. He was a member of the Sons of the Legion and VFW. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, playing cards and most of spending time with his family.

Leslie R. “Les” Monnin (December 1, 2016)

Leslie R. “Les” Monnin age 69, of Versailles passed peacefully unto the Lord on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.

Leslie was born in Russia, Ohio, on April 28, 1947, the son of the late LeRoy & Bernice (Peltier) Monnin. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marlene (Monnin) Drees and brother, Anthony “Tony” Monnin. Les is survived by his son, Russell Monnin of Palm Coast, Florida; brothers & sisters-in-law, Don & Mary Monnin of Russia, Ohio, Wayne & Dana Monnin of Tipp City, Ohio, and Dale Monnin of Crawfordville, Florida; sister & brother-in-law, June & Dave Walters of Fryburg, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Les was a graduate of Russia High School and worked as an auto body repairman at local auto repair shops in this area. He loved working on his privately owned cars and antique cars in the evening and weekends. Les loved getting together with his friends and watching NASCAR racing and then starting a open fire and having a good old fashion barbeque with family and friends. Les will be missed by family and friends and be remembered as a good friend. Les proudly served his Country in the U.S. Air Force Reserves during the Vietnam War. Leslie’s last request was don’t cry.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at St. Remy Cemetery in Russia with Rev. Fr. Martin Fox officiating. Linda F. Miller (December 2, 2016)

Linda F. Miller, age 70 of New Madison, Ohio passed away at 10:24 AM Friday December 2, 2016 in the emergency room of Wayne HealthCare Greenville, Ohio. She was born July 5, 1946 in Greenville, Ohio and the daughter of the late Francis Eugene “Gene” Ford, Reva Lou (Cain) Ford and Iona Marie (Rinard) Ford.

Linda retired in 2011 from Whirlpool of Greenville where she had been employed for 38 years.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Eagles Lodge, all of Greenville. Also a 1964 graduate of Westmont High School and very active in the alumni group that planned many of the class reunions, She enjoyed playing golf and spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Rodney Ford and an infant sister Martha Lee Ford.

Linda is survived by her husband Nevin Miller of New Madison. They were married July 8, 1967. Gerald D. Lucas, age 89 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 10:32 AM Thursday December 1, 2016 at the Village Green of Greenville. He was born July 5, 1927 in Brookville, Ohio and the son of the late Chester R. and Edna C. (Petering) Lucas.

Gerald retired in 1989 from the Union City Body Company after 21 ½ years of employment and had farmed his entire life in the Darke County area.

He was a Veteran of WW II serving in the US Army and a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and American Legion, both of Greenville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a step grandson William Robertson, Brother William Lucas and nephew Bruce Lucas.

Gerald is survived by his wife Velma (Schrader) Lucas of Greenville. They were married July 12, 1950. Also sons Thomas Ray Lucas and Richard Jay (Melody) Lucas all of Greenville; granddaughter Jodi Lucas, step grandchildren Tim Robertson, Holli Elliott, Wendy Brenner and Madisyn Pieper; great grandson Eddie Manning III and fiancé Jenny Lucas; step great grandchildren Autumn Robertson, Cheyenne Fritz, Eric (Butter man) Brenner Jr. and Lucas Lowell Brenner; brother Donald J. (Louise) Lucas of Greenville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ann is survived by her children, Marie & Bill Todd of Versailles, Dale Hollingsworth of Russia, Cindy Hollingsworth of Versailles and Sue & Scott Waldren of Arcanum; grandchildren, Shawn & Brian Heindl, Jared & Brianna Waldren and Andrea Waldren & Jody Taylor; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, William Crites of Amherst, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ann was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert I. Hollingsworth; sisters, Mary Grilliot, Carol Freeman and Gail Schlater; and brother, Robert Crites.

Ann retired from the Versailles Post Office where she was a mail carrier. She attended the Webster United Methodist Church.

Isaac, “Ike” Brown Sherwin (November 27, 2016)

Isaac, “Ike” Brown Sherwin, age 94 and longtime resident of Berea OH and recent resident of the Brethren Retirement Community of Greenville OH passed away at 7:45 pm on November 27.2016 after an extended battle with cancer.

He was one of 6 children born on June 29 1922 to the dear late Albert and Agnes (Brown) Sherwin. Ike's late wife of 66 years, Betty Adele Sherwin (Grumbling) was his high school sweetheart in Barnesboro Pennsylvania where they both were born and raised. Ike and Betty married after Ike's WWII service in the Pacific Theater. Ike went to war at age 18 and his service took him around the world and ultimately landed him in some of the most intense fighting in Burma and India. After he returned from war and married, he moved his family to the Cleveland area following his wife's family to N. Royalton. He found work as a partner in a painting business until Ike eventually got a job selling pharmaceutical and medical supplies. All of Ike's early years were formative for his love of God, family and country and that love had a profound influence on everyone who knew him and everything he did.

Now that he is passed, Ike will be missed by many but especially by his two daughters, Gail Peters (Kent) and Rebecca Mistak (E James) along with four grandchildren. Ike is also survived by eight great-grandchildren. His family is grateful for his love and devotion to them and to his wife. Also with gratitude, we remember his always lively sense of humor and passion for living life fully engaged. Ike's interests and hobbies over the years are numerous: harmonica, hunting, fishing, camping, softball, tennis, racket ball and golf. Most of all, his family and friends know of his love and gratitude for the message of faith in Christ Jesus new life. New Life for him began in this life and now this life is fully realized.

Rachelle Cordonnier (November 27, 2016)

Rachelle Cordonnier passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the age of 83. She was an educator all her life, having first been a teacher in elementary schools for 15 years, and then Principal for 26 years. She also served as Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe in New Mexico for five years. All of her educational experience was in Catholic Schools.

Rachelle was preceded in death by her parents, August and Freda (Barhorst) Cordonnier, one sister, Marie Schwartz, and three brothers, Thomas (Rosemary) Cordonnier, Kenneth Cordonnier and Paul Cordonnier. She is survived by three brothers, Jim (Doris) Cordonnier, August F. (Barb) Cordonnier and Bill (Sue) Cordonnier; one sister, Carol (Amos) Johns. Her brother in law, Kenneth Schwartz; sisters in law, Rosie Cordonnier and Connie Cordonnier also survive. She has numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Rachelle was heavily involved in her church St. Boniface Catholic Church in Piqua. She taught CCD, volunteered for several activities, organized many events and adored in the Chapel for many hours every week. Rachelle was always concerned about the poor and less fortunate and so we ask that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be given to St. Boniface Catholic Church or charity of your choice.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Piqua, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. Tom Bolte celebrant. Joe Leslie Martin (November 26, 2016)

Joe Leslie Martin, 74, of Greenville, left this earth and entered his heavenly home on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

Joe was born Saturday, October 24, 1942 in Union City, IN, a son of the late James A. and Dorothy (Meier) Martin.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by previous wife, Lucy (Miller) Martin, and nephew, Michael Martin.

Joe was a member of the First Assembly of God in Greenville. He served as a trustee for Washington Township for over 30 years. He was a longtime member of Gideon’s International. Joe dedicated his entire life to farming. He also enjoyed mission trips to Guatemala and China. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his Wife, of 38 years, Becky J.A.(Long) Martin of Greenville, whom he married Friday, March 31, 1978; a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Beth Martin of New Madison ; daughters and son-in-law, Sara and Teddy Horne of Dayton, OH and Polly and Tim Bailey of Union, OH; grandchildren, Derek and Sierra Martin, Brittney Martin, Tyler Martin, Avery Horne, Ezra Horne, John Bailey and McKenna Bailey; great grandson, Carter Joseph Martin; brothers, William F. and Vickie Martin of Greenville and Larry Martin and special friend Deb Hart of Greenville; sister, Jane and Albert Weimer of Arcanum; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Paulette and Dave Hoke of Arcanum; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at The First Assembly of God, 7219 St. Rt. 118 N, Greenville with Pastor Dale Boeger officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery.

Albert J. Pontius (November 18, 2016)

Albert J. Pontius, age 88 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 7:17 am, Friday, November 18, 2016, at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

Albert was born December 3, 1927, in Barberton, Ohio, to Albert and Dorothy Pontius. After graduating from Doylestown High School in 1945 and working several jobs for six months, as well as playing guitar and singing at the Cleveland Music Hall, WCLE radio and other venues, he joined the Army where he worked as a company clerk (because he could type) in Camp Lee, Virginia. After one year, he was transferred as a Captain to the Edgewood Chemical Biological Center in Maryland where he worked for six months. After World War II ended, at the age of 20, he returned to Doylestown where he dated and married Ethel Maurine Smith, his wife for 62 years until her death on November 26, 2011.

Albert commuted to Ashland College and transferred to Kent State where he received a B.S. in Administration in 1952 and earned his CPA license. After working 10 years for Arthur Anderson in Cleveland, he returned to Kent State for his MBA in 1964 and also taught classes there and became an assistant professor at Akron University until 1965. He then moved his family to Greenville and joined Overmyer Glass Mould Corporation in Winchester, Indiana, where he was the CFO for 20 years. He then went into private practice, well into his 70s, helping to rejuvenate corporations, including Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company.

Albert is survived by his children Richard A. (Sharon) Pontius of Columbus and Carol J. Pontius of Dayton; grandchildren Dana and Lisa Pontius of Columbus; sister Virginia Evans in the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman; sisters-in-law Madeline Meyers of Brookville and Janet Iversen of Raleigh; brother-in-law Leonard (Carol) Smith of Raleigh; nephews Kurt Meyers of West Milton, Jeff Meyers of Brookville, Larry Iversen of Vancouver and David Iversen of Raleigh.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, 1499 N. Broadway Street, Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Dr. John Person officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 2, 2016, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Ron Lee O’Dell (November 25, 2016)

Ronald Lee O’Dell, age 78, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 12:10 PM at State of the Heart Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. He was born on August 4, 1938 in Greenville, Ohio, to H. Virginia (McCabe) O’Dell of Darke County, Ohio, and the late Robert C. O’Dell.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Judy (Miner) O’Dell whom he married on July 24, 1982; daughters and sons in law, Glee Ann & Robert Wills of Union City, Ohio, Julie & Jeff Sebring of Greenville, Gena & Jake Garner of Griffin, Georgia, and Jalynn & Tory Tollefson of Greenville; step children, Kelly & Duane Sanning of Greenville, Kipp & Teri Ann Kline of Greenville, Kathy & John LeMaster of Greenville, Kristi Spille & Scott Neanen of New Madison, Kurt Kline of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and Merry Block of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Bobby Livingston, Jalee Aultman, Trent Livingston, Lance Hughs, Kary Tollefson and Nick Tollefson; step grandchildren, Josh Dohme, Jacy Dohme, Justina Smith, Jenna LeMaster, Jalena LeMaster, Johnny LeMaster, Stewart Spille, Brandi Spille, Ryan Kline and Christopher Duke; 5 great grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren; brother and sister in law, Larry G. & Denise O’Dell of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father.

Ron worked as a farmer, operated a stock yard and worked with horses for many years. He also was employed at Wetzel Trucking for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge in Greenville. He was the first Greenville FFA member to receive the American Farmer Award. He loved tractor pulling and was a member of the Miami County Antique Tractor Pullers Association and OSU Antique Tractor Puller Association.

There will be a graveside service held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery, Ft. Jefferson, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 5-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Edith Lamons Bertram (November 25, 2016)

Edith Lamons Bertram, 78, of Greenville, Ohio, formally of Dayton, passed away November 25, 2016. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School Class of 1956, in Dayton. Edith was the daughter of Robert Samuel and Sally Frank Pates Lamons who preceded her in death.

She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Camden, Ohio. She accepted the Lord as her Savior and was baptized in 1954 at the former Westwood Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio.
She was a member of the Fort GreenVille Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Descendants of Washington’s Army at Valley Forge; Direct Descendants of David (Davy) Crockett, and The First Families of Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 ½ years, Wayne Bertram, also three sisters, Dorothy Lamons Freshour, Helen Lamons Powell, and Ruby Lamons Richey. She is survived by her children, Lesia L. Bertram, Douglas W. Bertram (Catherine), Leticia A. (Tish) Miller (Richard). Four granddaughters Ashley Bertram Todd (Brian), Stacy Bertram Berry (Christopher), Elizabeth Miller Davis (Clinton) and Victoria Miller, great-grandchildren Emma, Evan and Olivia Todd and Anastasia Berry, niece Nancy Powell Andrews and nephews Robert, Donald and Steven Freshour, Earl, Mark, and Dennis Riley as well as several great nieces and nephews.

There will be a service held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home of Greenville, Ohio with the Reverend Greg Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Abbottsville cemetery in Greenville Ohio. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Edith’s eternal home will be in Heaven.

Thomas D. Rhoades (November 22, 2016)

Thomas D. Rhoades,70, of New Madison, OH, passed away, Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Wayne Health Care in Greenville.

Tom was born March 23,1946 in Darke County, OH, a son of the late Lowell and Gladys ”Peg” (Spencer) Rhoades.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents.

Tom served in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed woodworking and bird watching. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and volunteering at the Darke County Parks.

Tom is survived by his wife Jennifer (Hans) Rhoades of New Madison, whom he married September 03, 1965; daughters and son in law, Amanda and Robert “Danny” Brockman of Williamsburg, IN and Melissa Powell and Robert “Bobby” Hymes of New Madison; grandchildren, Alivia Dwire, Rylee Powell, Ryder Hymes, Alyssa Brockman, Tabatha Reynolds, Rebecca Brockman, Samantha Brockman; great grandchildren, Trystan Reynolds, Kayden Reynolds, Raylan Brockman; brother and sister in law, Keith and Mel Rhoades of Kettering; sister and brother in law, Jane and Bill Armstrong of Greenville; nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the New Madison United Methodist Church with Pastor Carol Duffield officiating. Burial will follow in Otterbein Cemetery withh military honors conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.

Jon Edward Agne, age 87, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 8:13 PM at the Versailles Health Care Center, Versailles, Ohio. He was born on May 17, 1929 in Prattville, Michigan, to the late Augustus W. “Gus” & Lydia “Angela” (Hall) Agne.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jane (Goodall) Agne whom he married on March 4, 1951; sons and daughters in law, Bruce & Chris Agne of Greenville and Jeff & Monica Agne of Troy, Ohio; grandchildren, Shawn (Mindy) Agne, Jessica (Ken) Koch, Timothy (Misty) Agne, Michelle (Ben) Dickstein, Craig (Julia) Agne, Lisa (Chris) King, Kyle Agne and Jenelle Agne; great grandchildren, Natalie Agne, Carter Koch, Sam Agne, Cooper Koch, Clara Dickstein, William King and Charlotte Agne; siblings, Paul Agne of Versailles, Max (Elaine) Agne of Shelbyville, Kentucky, Marilyn (Larry) Warner of Eaton, Ohio, and Thelma Agne of Battle Creek, Michigan; as well numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by, son, Brad Agne; grandson, Christopher Agne; sisters, Pauline Williams and Marguerite Davis; brothers, Robert& Don Agne; as well as a sister at infancy.

Jon was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Versailles, Ohio and was a member of the United States Air Force. He was a teacher working at Eaton, Greenville, Ft. Recovery and Hardin Schools before retiring in the 1980’s. After retirement he volunteered at Lehman Schools. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, planes and cars.

There will be a service held on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 3:30 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Versailles, Ohio, with Pastor Bob Akins officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Versailles with a Graveside Military Service conducted by the Versailles Honor Guard.. Family will receive friends on Sunday one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio.

Aisie Irene Bortner (November 22, 2016)

Aisie Irene Bortner, 94, formally from West Manchester, OH passed away, Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Brethren Home Retirement Community.

Irene was born September 6th, 1922 in Fountain City, IN, to the late Frank and Irene (Vore) Lacey.

Irene was very active in the Prices Creek Church of the Brethren and also the Slo-Downers Camping Club and with supporting the Brethrens Retirement Community Center. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grad children.

In addition to her parents, Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Bortner.

Irene is survived by her son, Jerry and wife Margaret Bortner of Greenville; daughter, Lois and husband Paul Moore of South Bend, Indiana; grandchildren, Eric and Alicia and their daughters, Ava and Alayna, Mike and Elizabeth of Tucson, Arizona, Katurah and Joe Mindock and their children Lacey, Alan, Ian and Joseph, Jerrod Scott and wife of Farmers Branch, Texas and their children and Paula and Mike Greenwell of Redmond, Oregon.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Oliver Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Chaplain Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery in Fountain City, IN.

Dian L. Bryson age 55, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:16 A.M. on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. Dian was born June 21, 1961, in Greenville to Leroy & Jean (Sundman) Wellman of Greenville.

In addition to her parents, Dian is also survived by her husband, Neil W. Bryson whom she married August 15, 1981; children, Benjamin & Rebekah Bryson of Avon Lake, Lindsey & Andrew Cizmar of Avon Lake and Seth Bryson of Greenville; granddaughter, Adalynn Bryson; brothers & sister-in-law, John & Deb Wellman of Galloway, Robert Wellman of Cincinnati and Joseph Wellman & Penny Williams of Greenville; sister & brother-in-law, Joyce & Tod Clark of Greenville; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Dian was a LPN at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville for 38 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, November 28, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 233 West Third St. Greenville with Rev. Fr. Ken Baker celebrant. Chelsea "Chuck" D. Wright, Jr. (November 18, 2016)

Chelsea "Chuck" D. Wright, Jr., age 55, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away, Friday, November 18, 2016 at his sister's home in Canal Winchester, Ohio.

He was born Sunday, June 18, 1961 in Troy, OH, a son of Sharon Vaughan Wright of Trout Lake, WA and the late Chelsea Wright, Sr.; and Grandma Mazzie Wright.

Chuck was a foreman at Sherwin Williams in Cincinnati, OH. He was a member of the 14340 Steel Workers Union, and a Senior Soldier in the Salvation Army. He loved to be around his family and friends.

In addition to his mother, Sharon, Chelsea is survived by his brothers, Stephen, Gary, Andrew and Timothy Wright; and a sister, Melinda (Kevin) Young.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 PM Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Oliver Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, OH. Burial will follow in Beamsville Cemetery.

Robert E. “Bob” Rhoades (November 19, 2016)

Robert E. “Bob” Rhoades, age 71, of Piqua, Ohio, and formerly of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 3:47 PM in Darke County, Ohio, due to an automobile accident. He was born on February 3, 1945 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Eugene Franklin Rhoades and Clara Florence & Robert (Mannix) Stauffer.

Bob is survived by his wife of 45 years, Margaret “Peggy” (Sedam) Rhoades whom he married on February 6, 1971; sons, Rob & Jeff Mullins of Dallas, TX, and Chris Rhoades of Greenville; sisters and brother in law, Sandra Hoying of Greenville and Debbie & Steve Brandt of Greenville; brother and sister in law, Tom & Angela Stauffer of Oldsmar, FL; brothers in law and sisters in law, Carol & Mike Gray of Houston, Ohio, Kay & George O’Neill of Hollywood, FL, and Rick & Karen Sedam of Piqua, OH; special friends, Corbin & Skylan Robison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his father and mother in law, George & Joan Sedam.

Bob was a firefighter retiring from the Greenville Fire Department. He also was a former employee with the Ohio Department of Health working within the Hazmat Department. He was an amateur hand radio operator and loved all aspects of trains. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville and St. Boniface Catholic Church in Piqua.
