Richard M. Hurd (April 19, 2018)

Richard M. Hurd, 89 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday April 19, 2018 at 9:17 PM at State of the Heart Care Center. He was born October 17, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio the son of the late Theophilus & Medi (McCown) Hurd. He served in the United States Army from November 20, 1950 until November 21, 1952. He worked at Westinghouse, McClains Inc.; Fram; and the Darke County Sheriff’s Patrol. He was a member of the Greenville Moose Lodge; Greenville American Legion Post # 143; True Life Church; and was an avid bowler, bowling in several leagues.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Janet K. Hurd; brothers: Joseph Manning, William Manning, J.B. Thomas, Donald Hurd, & David Hurd.

He is survived by his children & spouses: Sharon Ester, Chris Harper, Tim Hurd, Geraldine Hurd, & Sondra Hurd ; step children: Monty & Patricia Sewell, Karyn & Eric Bruggeman, & Kristie Gaddy; Grandchildren: John Ayette, David Ayette, Greg Badger, Ty Mobbs, Robbie Fugate, Randy Gregg, Jimmy Gregg, Shareece Hendrix; step grandchildren: Stacey Leimbacher, Stephanie Gilbert, Lauren Burger, Trevor Lewis; numerous great grandchildren; brothers: Dean Hurd, Ralph Hurd, Frank Hurd; sisters: Elizabeth Olinger, Edith Perkins, Gloria Buckingham; numerous nieces & nephews.

Services will be held on Thursday April 26, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Burial will be in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday April 25, 2018 at from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Veteran’s graveside services will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Association or the American Heart Association.
