Dorthabel Fox of Englewood, Ohio, passed away suddenly late Sunday evening, May 27, a few weeks shy of her 98th birthday.
Dorthabel Marie Pitsenbarger was raised on a farm just north of Versailles, Ohio. As she reminded us a number of times, she was expected to do the work of a man. Perhaps it is this that allowed her to live for so long and bless the lives of those around her.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Verner, in 1958; her second husband, Donald Grigley in 1972; and two of her siblings: Evelyn and Floyd.
She is survived by her third husband, Eugene Fox; her children: Janet Lamb and Ronald Martin and daughter-in-law, Carol; her granddaughter, Dana; and her two youngest sisters: Phyllis and Janet. She was formerly a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Dayton but in later years returned to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Willowdell, where she remained active.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Miami Valley Hospital for their care and comfort.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 1, 2018, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Robert Akins officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences for the family may be expressed through www.zecharbailey.com.
