Norma Jean was born May 16, 1932, in Newport to the late Henry John & Frances Theresa (Garman) Vagedes. In addition to her parents, Norma Jean was also preceded in death by her husband, Glen Rismiller on April 22, 2011; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Rismiller; siblings, Leonard “Len” & Rita Vagedes, Mary Vagedes, Clarence “Dick” & Mildred Vagedes, Clara Vagedes, Helen & Melvin Monnier, Justine “Stina” & Norbert Couchot, Norbert Vagedes, Edward & Marie Vagedes, Louis “Lou” & Evelyn Vagedes, Joseph Linus “Liney” Vagedes, Homer John “Runt” Vagedes; and sisters-in-law, Cecilia Vagedes and Betty Vagedes.
Norma Jean is survived by her children, Brenda & Nick Schwartz, Debbie & John Kettering, Jack Rismiller, Randy & Lily Ruan Rismiller and Lori & Chris Kreifels; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; brothers & sisters-in-law, Paul “Pat” & Betty Vagedes and Carl “Spitz” & Frances Vagedes; sisters-in-law, Jean Vagedes and Reta Vagedes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norma Jean was a homemaker and farmer. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of North Star. Her hobby was sewing, and over the years she donated hundreds of blankets to organizations which could make good use of them.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 10, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church 13495 Greenville St. Mary’s Rd, (North Star) Versailles. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the church.
